Chicken ramen
Keegan G.

I've been a handful of time now and haven't disliked a single thing. If you like kimchi their kimchi ramen is so freaking delicious. Fried rice is the best I've had in the Jackson area and if you like pink sauce this is the best pink sauce I've ever had - it is smoky though so if you don't like that don't get it. This is a brand new restaurant, so you have to be patient. So far it is just a husband and wife working here so time is the only downfall to this restaurant. They are also actively working on the menu so it can seem a bit scuffed. The decorations are authentic Japanese and they now have their ambient lighting set up which is a cool vibe. Could use a bit more things hung up on the wall though - specifically to cover up some outlets showing.

Shrimp Ramen

For those that don't want to read my long written review I don't recommend and will not be back. I have been seeing post from J Japanese Restaurant on facebook for a few weeks. My wife and I decided to take the plunge today. We both love Japanese cuisine and actually lived in Japan for a few years. You were very excited for a new Japanese restaurant in Clinton. We wanted to give the best try we could. We entered planning on Sushi and Ramen. After a quick look around I decided we would wait on the sushi. While there was no bad smell, the overall setup and design just made me ask myself a few questions. So we order the shrimp and vegetable tempura as an appetizer with each of us getting a bowl of ramen and a coke each. The service was overall poor. We were served two cans of coke with no glasses or ice. I am sad to report that the tempura was just fried food with little or no actual tempura flakes and was served with Chinese sweet and sour sauce not an actual tempura dip. The ramen was also a disappointment. The pork was good but everything else was just average at best. The staff can to our table 4 times total. 1. To take our order. 2. To deliver our cans of coke. 3. To deliver the appetizer. 4. To deliver the ramen. I had to go to the counter to pay. They seemed as if they could not have carried less if we were happy. I will finish by saying this. With one trip to the local Asian market I make better food at home.

Stopped by after work to try some of the Cinco de Mayo 2026 special menu items (05/01-05/05). It…read morewas not overly crowded and it was open seating. We were greeted shortly by our waiter Caden. Our waiter was extremely polite and very attentive. I can only speak in the items I personally tried the watermelon jalapeño margarita was a 7.5/10. There wasn't a strong watermelon flavor and there really wasn't a kick from the jalapeño. The bartender wasn't definitely not shy with the liquor but it wasn't over powering. The shrimp and crab ceviche was probably a 8/10 ( could've been a 9/10 but it had cucumbers in it). It had a tad bit too much lime juice or lime taste. The shrimp and crab dip was delicious! 9/10. Fresh chips as well. I really enjoyed the pickled red onion addition was really good. Overall Saltine has a great menu selection, warm and welcoming vibe.

Lovely looking place…read more The service was good. Pretty much right there when you needed them with decent recommendations. For appetizers, I loved the lobster and spring roll. That was delicious. Also got the lobster and crawfish dip ok and one can never go wrong with calamari which was also good. For dinner, I had the salmon and grits and kale. It was ok because not quite what I was expecting - I was expecting spicy and it was too sweet for me but might be my fault for not fully reading the description and being focused on the Cajun seared aspect of it. It was still good though. Nothing superb but filling and loved the crunchy kale on top. Really liked that they were open on a Monday and they were fast. At one point, too fast because one of my co- diner's dinner came too soon while still eating their salad. For dessert, we got the cinnamon roll cheesecake and shared it. I only had one bite because it was too rich for me but it was very tasty and good. Unfortunately, we didn't get the oysters which is THE item to get here but it was otherwise a good visit.
