We decided to get the platter that included a bit of all of the proteins. So we got to taste the falafel, lamb shawarma, and chicken shawarma. The chicken shawama looked so good on the spit that I actually complimented the woman who was working and she seemed flattered. They were both VERY nice women who were working and you could tell that they cared about the product. The platter also included quinoa, rice, salad. And the four sauces. Well 1. Garlic Sauce: This trophied for us. Me and T were all about this garlic sauce. 2. Mayo based sauce: Mixed well with the garlic sauce. 3. Spicy Red sauce: Ok, this sauce is not kidding around. Bonn Boni is a staple of the Ballston lunch scene, and after 4 years of working in the area, I am just discovering why there is always a long line. The falafel platter is worthy of a round of applause. A very reasonable (especially by Ballston standards) $8 will buy you six freshly made falafels alongside a generous mound of basmati rice and a mixed greens salad, all topped with their homemade sauces and aiolis. The textures and amount of flavor packed in this little dish is amazing! The garlic from the falafels and the aioli; the crunchiness and buttery taste of the homemade - or at least what I think are homemade - croutons; the sweetness from the corn; the cardamom in the basmati. Man! And everything comes together just beautifully. Absolutely, one of the best dishes you'll have from a food cart. And then there's the Nutella cookie. The owner recommends heating it lightly for the chocolate and Nutella to melt inside. There's no better sight that splitting one in the middle and watching all that chocolate-hazelnut-ty goodness ooze out (cue moaning sounds). It's easily the best food invention created, and even if you don't think so, it's the perfect indulgent ending to a great meal. Okay, so I think it's appropriate to give this food truck 5 STARZ. I knew the food had to be good, because there was a huge crowd waiting on their food..... 1st off the cookies they put out for customers to sample were maybe top 5 I've ever had (very strong statement). I ordered the chicken shwarma sandwitch. I wanted the platter (but they ran out of rice). He sandwitch was sooo good. The meat was marinated (I could tell by the flavors). I love the roasted veggies they add. They also put 3 different homemade sauces on it, which all three were amazing! I will definitely be back .... a hidden gem in Ballston. My all time favorite food cart in Ballston area during lunch time. Every time I see this place I immediately walk that direction to order before there is a line. I always get either the Jolip, or a shwarma here with lamb meat. The lamb is amazing, and I love that you can get your order with quinoa. I like to think that I am eating healthy when I'm here lol. The dish also comes with decent helping of vegetables, and there's about two servings in one order. It's almost impossible for me to portion the serving as I typically end up eating the entire bowl in one sitting =P. I will definitely continue coming here every time I see the cart =D. P.S. I don't like using hyperbole but this was the best lamb wrap I'd ever eaten in my life. I just had this for lunch today. I literally haven't eaten out since the quarantine but I kept walking past their food truck today while I was working at the Watergate @ Landmark. They were doing brisk business & it was too convenient to not try. Plus it was inexpensive. One of the young men took my order & I deferred to what have put on my wrap other than the lamb. Good decision on my part because it was amazing. From what it sounds alike I got the wrap with everything on it. Sauce, salad, etc. I plan on having more in furrier the next time I'm near by. I've got to give credit where credit is due. Decided to give Bonn Boni another shot and they did not disappoint. Ordered the Chicken Shawarma sandwich which was outstanding! The pita bread was fluffy and delicious. They put plenty of chicken in the sandwich, along with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, and 3 different sauces. The sauces seemed to compliment each other really well together in the sandwich. All the ingredients tasted fresh and flavorful. Decided to have 2 of the sauces (I didn't get the spicy sauce as at that particular moment I didn't want a spicy dish), and I thought they meshed well. I was satisfied with the level of meat (although I would have liked more veggies, personally). I've heard really good things about the sandwiches, so next time will definitely try it. We had Bonn Boni come to our work event and at first I was skeptical, the cart's appearance and I had never heard of it before. Boy was I wrong. I had a chicken shawarma sandwich with the yogurt and spicy sauce, it was delicious! It almost tasted more like chicken kabob or looked like kabob to me, so that was a big plus. However, after browsing the other food trucks in the Ballston area, my gut told me to give Bonn Boni another look and to my pleasant surprise, it is Middle Eastern type of food with sweets. The woman taking orders settled my ease with her presence. After placing my order for a falafel sandwich and a triple chocolate cookie, I somehow felt that it was going to be good and I'm a pretty picky eater too. Omg, the falafel sandwich IS so good- just great! The three homemade sauces she put in it were fabulous together and the falafels had a very nice texture and interesting flavor and are green- which is a color that might be unexpected since yellow is more common but I liked it. As for the triple chocolate cookie, it is amazing! I don't even have a big sweet tooth at all and am so picky with desserts, but it was made to be so gooey and intense in deep chocolate flavor, that I actually finished the whole thing! What we came up with was an almond cake with a strawberry and lychee filling. Our guests had never had anything like that and I think it was a good way to get many of our guests introduced to the awesomeness of lychee. Just had Bonn Boni yesterday for the first time and it has potential to be one of my regular go-to food trucks for lunch. I didn't catch the name of the lady who was working the food truck, but she definitely made an impression on me with her delightful, smiley greeting. Excellent service is really big for me, so that is EXTRA points! I ordered the combo platter which came with rice and a generous portion of meat. My first thought was that the ingredients are higher quality than some of the other food trucks. The rice was well-cooked, not dry and the meat was well-seasoned. The greens looked fresh and not old or wilted. The garlic aioli sauce was superb. The portion size is pretty generous and ended up saving my leftovers for dinner. Lastly, you also have to try the cookies. They are awesome! Actually, I saved one cookie for later (they come in a 2 pack) and accidentally dropped it on the floor, but since the cookie was so good there was so way that I could throw it away so I stealthily and quickly scarfed it down (5 second rule right?). Iman was the champ! I am going to be honest as I was worried for the first time I ever worked with any pastry shop on a customized cake, especially that the cake won't come out the way I imagined it to be. First off, Iman was very honest, patient, and helpful throughout all the email communication with me. She quoted me a very reasonable price for a hookah-shaped cake (with hookah of 14-16 inches) and a very delicious chocolate ganache with chocolate cake and vanilla icing, which fed the group of 22 people. Her price was very competitive compared to other shops who specialize in customized cake such as Fluffy Thoughts or Tysons Cake. And best of all, Iman agreed to do it within a very short notice as we settled payment on Friday and she delivered the cake the next Monday. I was pleasantly surprised with the cake even though I have seen other cakes that Iman created. The cake was truly a piece of art and I could see that Iman put a lot of thoughts and efforts into creating the cake. Iman is such a talented cook and baker. Everything that I have tasted from her savory dishes to her sweets have been beautiful to look at and absolutely delicious. I've had her Nutella stuffed chocolate chip cookies, which are so rich and chewy. Her Russian tea cakes are surprisingly light and melt in your mouth. Her gluten free Nutella chocolate cake is my favorite chocolate cake of all time. Initially I thought gluten free=healthy chocolate cake, and that sounds unappetizing. But, man, that cake was so good! Super moist dark chocolate cake, topped with a thick layer of fudge and sprinkled with chocolate covered espresso nuggets. Her cupcakes are delicious as well.
