I visited yelp... per usual... and found this place ( I dare not say the name again in fear of flashbacks) I'd given them a call to see if the accepted walk-ins and the woman I'd spoken with ,overall pleasant , asked me to come in at 2. She called me back a few minutes later and asked if I could come in at 4 instead. I told her that was fine and decided to grab some lunch... Now here comes the foolery ! I pull up to a Strip Mall type location were the parking would be considered risky. Not because of the neighborhood but because of pot holes, no clear parking lanes, and over width of parking lot . You could easily loose a bumper if your not careful. I walked in at exactly my appointment time and was admittedly greeted by name. I played " any, many ' miney, moe" with the seating based on the cleanliness and proceed to scope out the place. Did it need updates for sure but that wasn't a deterrent, I can't imagine how much it cost to replace something every time a client scrapes or nicks something . My concern was dust and dirt and the missing nail license( yes I look for those) the shop didn't quite meet my standards and I wasn't sure if it was because there is a lot of black and white in the salon or if they just didn't make cleaning a priority. After about 5 minutes of scanning the room , buzzing from the nail drill I look at my watch. Nothing... no one coming from the back, no plastic being added to the pedicure bowl or water being ran. 4:10 comes and the phone rings" I hear " ok, ok, how long?" And the phone hangs up. The nail tech turns to me and bodily says " your nail tech is in traffic, she said she'll be here in 30 minutes, ok? ." Some many things ran through my head in that moment... but all I could was say " that's not ok" walked out. What a big waste of my time and the boldness the request more time. So if you can look past the potential of car damages, cleanliness issues, and if you have unlimited time, this salon might contend for your business. As for me and my toes , no thanks ! One last thing- where did all those stars come from? There is no way that many people have little to no standards..N/M ... contend at your own risk

There hasn't been a single design I've shown her (even the most elaborate Pinterest inspo) that she couldn't pull off and she always manages to elevate it beyond what I imagined. I first came to Miyako in search of a nail artist for my wedding. Leading up to the big day, we experimented with a few different styles I had in mind, and she nailed every single one (pun intended). She also did my Barbie-in-Vegas-themed bachelorette nails, which were absolutely stunning. I felt like a bad b**** every time I walked out of her studio. What truly sets Miyako apart is her meticulous attention to detail. The shape, smoothness, and evenness of the nails are always flawless. Even with just a plain color, my nails would look like they were perfect press on designs. You can tell she's a true creative who deeply cares about her craft. I also really appreciated the one-on-one setting--it's just you and her in a peaceful, distraction-free space, which makes the experience feel that much more special. I'm so sad I moved away from RPV and can't see her regularly anymore--but I'll absolutely be making that 2-hour drive for special occasions. When I got my nails done the day before my birthday (which was also a week before my due date), my nails looked good inside the salon, but when I got to my car to send pics and videos, they looked bad. I got my nails done 2 days ago, and I was pressed on time. I have a 6 month old, and my timeline was to get my mani/pedi done before my husband came home with a hungry baby since I'm breastfeeding. Well, the wait was too long, so I switch it to just getting my mani/have them fix 2 broken nails. Everything turned out decent in the amount of time I was there. It was $25 plus tip to do my cuticles, cut and shape my nails and "fix" the 2 nails. One day later, my broken nail was still jacked up on the side but had some protection on the rest of the nail. I don't really have time to go back before we leave on a trip, so that's why I'm rating them a 2 star. If it was as done correctly the first time (both times), I wouldn't need to go back. It's fine though because I have everything I need to fix it myself at home. I just didn't want to have to do it at home. This place is fine since it's cheap, but it's a reminder that you get what you pay for.

I got a pedicure and gel builder fill however I hate having to reach over so they can do each hand and they were kind enough to just keep switching sides so I could be comfortable while getting my pedicure. Brian was the one who worked on my hands and he did an amazing job at giving me an almond shape to where it looks natural. I am definitely going to save this place so next time I'm in town, I can go back.

The pedi station was a chair and a tin bucket which kept sliding and was very uncomfortable and my knees were so tight afterwards and kinda locked up so that was painful, since I couldn't actually relax my legs to prevent the bucket from sliding off the elevated platform.
