I was told to come in today at 8:45a (Saturday) and was happy to. Last time May did my nails and I was absolutely satisfied. This time Jenny did my nails and she was rushed from the time she sat down at my station all the way to the end of doing my nails. She didn't wait for the lights to go off when my nails were under the LED nail lamp for each step in the process. The sides of my nails look rugged (pics) and she didn't say anything when she was done and got up to rush to the next customer. I like this shop and want to come back. But I need my nails done right. The wonderful owner Jenny always accommodates my requests leaving my nails exceptionally beautiful, of course I cannot forget the lovely Julie for taking care of my pedicures since the shop opened. Horrible service, it's such a shame too because I've always had great experiences here. I made an appointment 2 weeks in advance all for them to rush our appointment and do such a bad job. The older man that did my nails didn't even want to do enough coats to make the color show, my nails came out all bumpy and misshapen. The manager's reply to my review above further demonstrates the poor experience. You dropped what you were doing and never ever asked what was the conversation that led to him saying that, although I directly told you what he said. Your response was "well what do you want me to do." No suggestion, no forward thought, it was impatient "get to the point" energy. Further, the owner (having not spoke to the nail tech whatsoever) made excuses for why he did what he did, saying he did it to make my other nails even when none of those nails were close to that length. You defended his poor behavior with further poor behavior. My review stands that there are better shops to go to in this area, specifically where no one basically tells you to get out when they made a horrendous avoidable mistake. No accountability from leadership as you continue to make excuses for a poor experience in your place of business. I had to put fake nails on, which I never ever wear. And as you "fixed" his mistake, you passive aggressively tried to educate me about my nails as if I'm not a 38 year old woman who has been getting my nails done since I was a teenager. You eavesdropped on a conversation I was having with my cousin about Gel Builder and used that convo to seemingly blame me and deflect your employee filing away all of my natural nails rather than just accept total responsibility. You're loud and wrong, with employee that lacks the emotional and professional maturity to handle criticism of his work. I didn't cause any problems in your shop, I told you what the issues were and you agreed to fix them, blaming the person who wasn't holding a nail file shows that the owner lacks the same professional maturity. I have been coming here for a year, since moving back to California but I'm sorry to say that I was very disappointed this time around. I usually get a pedicure and ALWAYS schedule an appointment because I'm always on the go. I scheduled my appointment on Sunday for the following Thursday. I arrived on time and was asked to sit, I sit down but then realized the only two ladies doing pedicures have women at their stations and it appears they had just begun. I wait 5 min before asking how long it will be and they say a few minutes and I tell them how long as I can't wait, it's my lunch hour and why I scheduled ahead. They speak amongst themselves, then ask if I can reschedule. To me, this is not ok, I don't feel they should have overbooked or taken walk ins with limited people and having appointments already scheduled. I get these establishments get busy but that's why I always schedule an appointment. I do my best to respect everyone's time and wish they were courteous enough to do the same. This for me, is a deal breaker and sadly I'll be looking for another establishment. Just to add, pedicures have always been great no matter which lady has done my toes. Why I gave 3 stars. read more

I made an appointment for 6pm. It's 6:20pm and I'm writing this review for something to do because I am bored and tired of waiting. I feel disrespected when people waste my time. At Nail Studio by Andrew, my time has been wasted despite making an appointment a week in advance. What's the point of appointments if you're going to treat customers like they just walked in? Don't make appointments if you cannot honor them. My appointment was only for a pedicure. Anyone who disrespects my time in the way that this place has does not deserve my business. I do not recommend this place and I am never coming back here again. They haven't even checked in on me to update me if it's almost my turn or not. I'd expect them to let me know how much longer I need to wait, but since sitting me at the pedicure chair, no one has said anything and I've been waiting for 26 minutes now. I'm lying. I've been waiting for 36 minutes because I arrived 10 minutes early. If you're on time, you're late. When it was finally my turn, after waiting 30 mins, the nail tech did say, "thank you for waiting". Great experience! I got the last parking spot in an apparently busy lot, then got swept into an oasis when I entered the doors. It's a smaller salon, decorated perfectly to enhance the "spa-me" experience. I sat in chairs, mid-salon, until someone became free to do my pedi. Apparently South Carson is in need of a nail salon, as walk-ins wait exorbitant times after those who've made appointments. Once seated in a ped-chair, my experience began. She took good care of my feet. Soak, nails, cuticle, callous removal...Painting could have been smoother. I'd return again--if for nothing but the convenience! I have read people's reviews who gave 1 star for this nail shop and I couldn't agree with them more. This place is only 0.5 mi away from my house and was recommended to me by my sister. My usual nail tech from another nail shop was on vacation and I needed to have my pedicure done ASAP coz of an ingrown toenail that bothered me a lot, but I also decided to have my manicure done since it was also due. I came as a walk-in customer and the lady who was seating right by the entrance was the one who worked on my manicure. I didn't get to know her name because she already projected a negative vibe on me. She started working on my nails and just basically removed the previous gel nail polish and RUSHED the "cleaning" of my nail. She barely cleaned my nail beds and didn't thoroughly trimmed my cuticles. She didn't take her time at all and after that, she told me wash my hands and then go to one of the pedicure chairs. She didn't complete my manicure and told me that "it'll be done later". I went to the pedicure chair and Moon worked on my pedicure. As she prepped my feet, someone else (she was sitting next to the one who started working on my manicure) came to me and said she'll finish my manicure. I thought that was odd... She was STANDING when she worked on my nails and did another RUSHED job. The polish was unevenly coated on most of my nails. Meanwhile, the tech who was working on my toenails is a better staff - she's friendly and took a little more time on my toenails especially on removing the ingrown toenail that bothered and hurt me for a couple of weeks. She was doing a good job until she NICKED the skin of my left great toe and a little bit from the right great toe! I didn't think of it much since it initially hurt just a bit... But 2 days later, my left great toe is still in pain and the area that was nicked has gotten infected. The area of the cut is red and painful to touch! I'm still trying to mend the wound as I write this review! I do not recommend this place at all. Yes, their regular customers are much more FAVORED than the new ones! I noticed that too! Take a look at the photos I attached with my review and you'll see the rushed job they did on my manicure! I paid nearly $100 (services and tips) on their crappy work! I called ahead and they took me right away! I didn't have an appointment but they work fast and efficiently to make sure appointments are seen on time. They repeatedly apologized to a girl who waited at most 10mins, which is not even a long time honestly. Hy did my gel pedicure and she did an amazing job! And she was done so quick! Moon did my manicure and she was great too. I paid $74 for a gel manicure, gel pedicure plus tip and I was in and out in an hour so totally worth it! The shop is very clean. Each station is divided by a plastic barrier and they have everyone wash their hands upon entering. At the end, I even got a little gift from the shop which was super nice. If I could give this place negative stars I would. I went here because my son's daycare teacher recommended a certain person for a pedicure and I was like ok and tried them. The first time I enjoyed my pedicure and so much I made a second appointment. Now the second time is what really rubbed me the wrong way. I ended up having to get a full set because I was going to a concert and didn't have time to do my press on's so my appointment was on Thursday and I went in showed her the pic of my nails and asked if they could do the design and added the full set to my appointment. She said yes and mad my appointment at 9:30 am instead of 11 and I was like ok that's fine. So I go to the appointment I get my nails and pedicure done, I have an overlay on my two big twos and I usually just let them grow out and just get regular pedicures, the lady who did my pedicure says she did a fill on my toes and I'm like I didn't ask for that because I didn't need it, now to the owners credit she took off the charge but I was turn off by the overcharge and trying to get paid for a service that was not asked of you at all. Now my nails were fine until later Thursday 6/20/24 the same day I got my nails done my right middle finger nail came off. I was going out of town and just said oh well I will get it fixed when I get to where I'm going. So I get my nail fixed Friday and I just carry than later that day my right pointer finger nails comes off. I'm like this is but much that I look at my had and most of my nails are lifting. At this point I'm really upset don't have time to go to another shop and my nail look horrible. So I get back in town on Monday and came up there to get my refund and forgot they were closed. So I have to come today 6/25/24 and last night another nail came off and pissed me off even more because here we are at 4 days and I have last 4 nails and the rest are lifting minus the one I got fixed. So I go in there and all I want is a refund, my nails were ruined for my event out of town and on top of that I don't trust their work. I feel and told them it's very unprofessional to do sloppy and horrible work and refuse my money back and only tell me they can fix it. I don't want it fixed I want my money back! It would be one thing if I had some chipped polish or 1 nail lifted, but FOUR?! nails and the rest are lifting within three days of getting them done is beyond unacceptable! read more

The lady finished my nails in less than 10 minutes. I got acrylics with white nail polish. She never fixed my cuticles. The polish was done so poorly!! They most definitely favor there returning customers. They had a viral tiktok that consisted of a customer being upset bc the workers here are racists and treated her unfairly. The nail techs were talking with their regular customers about the situation and backed up said customer when she said that "people always want to play the racist card". Overall bad atmosphere. I didn't want to leave a review at first but looking at my nails right now, I felt like I had to. It was my first time there and I was hoping I would get a decent dip powder experience. Out of the sample of the dip colors and I chose a light sand color, a color I usually would get because of my tan skin. I think Mindy recommended it because it's more opaque than the clear pink I was originally going to choose. But when it was on my nail, it looked exactly like my skin color. Which was more tan and not a beige I didn't tell the nail lady, Julie, because I thought that maybe another layer or two would make it look different. I decided on changing the color so it would at least look different than my skin. Also, she cut my skin about 4 times and I bled a little. And when I told her it hurts, she still kept pushing on the area. Why! Lol. Basically I would advise them to actually be knowledgeable about the colors and not just guess or have an incorrect sample color. It's quite misleading for customers and quite frankly a waste of time. I feel they could at least be honest about the colors and said right off the bat that they don't know what it will look like on me. After they saw the color on me, they were like oh, we don't really know what the color looks like until it's on the nail. But you just told me prior that it's a good color? It looks like Andrew and Mindy already have a great set of customers already so maybe this review won't hinder business in any way. But i just wanted to share my experience. Great service but not too sure about the quality for the black gel nail polish, specifically. First time I went to get it done, that same night my polish started chipping. They didn't have any issue with me coming in and having them re-polished. But the next day they all started chipping again. Like I said, great service. 08/14/21 My first experience at the shop was good which is why I came back for my mani and pedi. Second time around I left before they could even start my nails. I called the night before about coming in when they opened. I came in, washed my hands, sat down on the purple couch while they got the chair ready. They sat me down in the chair and I soaked for a little bit before the tech came to begin working on me. Just as she was getting ready to start on me, two other ladies walked into the shop. I wasn't really paying attention to them but one of the ladies sat down next to me. My nail tech just told me "one minute" and she scooted over to the lady next to me. I thought she was going to turn the water on etc. Then I see her getting the polish and start working on her pedicure. I saw it was like one nail she was going to fix. I didn't think it was a big deal and knew she'll be finished in a few minutes and she'll get started on my nails. She finishes with the first lady and I think she's going to start on my nails. Nope. The second lady sits next to me and it wasn't just one nail messed up she messed up most of her pedicure on one foot. I didn't even bother to listen if anything was wrong on her other foot. Nothing said to me, she just starts to remove her polish, etc. By then, the water was already cooling off and I felt it was rude for them not to say anything to me about making me wait while they fix the nails of customers that came into the shop after me. I went ahead and dried off and left. I'm not sure why they were surprised I was leaving. I heard several of the staff tell me to wait, they're just fixing the ladies nails. I just told them, no thank you. I'm not waiting anymore. I did not speak to the owner or the manager till after I left. The shop was full of customers and I didn't want to speak negatively to the management infront of the customers they are working on. I called the shop right after I left and requested to speak to Andrew. The lady that answered the phone wanted to know if I had had problem with them (odd). I said yes, I was just there but asked to speak to the owner Andrew. I told him it was rude of them not to say anything to me and take on other customers while I was there before them. He told me that they called ahead - I called the day before. Doesn't matter, we both called in. He told me they were just trying to fit them in and to fix their nails. I told him that I understand that but it wasn't just one person/one nail. Two of them and the second one messed up most of her foot. I told him it was rude of them how they treated me and he was apologetic. I appreciate that but now I don't feel comfortable going back. He should have told them to come back but he didn't. As I first walked in, I was greeted by Andrew. He seemed very nice and sunny. There were three or four other technicians in the shop. I believe his daughter was helping out, along with another woman. They were setting up pedicure chairs as people came in. The shop is in a little plaza that is difficult to get in and out of due to the one entrance. It's near a barbershop that tends to be a bit busy. I would recommend parking back end first, so it's easier to get out. Walking into the shop, it had four or five pedicure massage chairs, and two or three tables on the other side. Seating for people who are waiting in the center. There are two televisions for people to watch. All super clean, fresh, and new. The bathroom is also clean, very fresh. All has a crisp flair. Sitting and waiting, you get the sense that people followed Andrew to his own shop. There are regulars that don't mind waiting to see him. The colors aren't presented on the wall at all and you'll find them on samples that you'll have to look through. I was a little caught off guard by this because I wanted to sit and take a good moment to look through colors but had to search for the samples. They were on a desk near the business cards and price brochure. It was a Thursday or Friday afternoon. I didn't catch the ladies who did my pedicure and manicure, so I apologize in advance. My pedicure was okay. I understand people getting trained so I won't fixate too much on that my water wasn't really warm, the bubbles weren't going because the vent wasn't put on correctly. I sat there for almost 5 minutes without, until the technician came over to fix it all. Perk: I appreciate that after a week, my toes still look amazing and aren't chipped. I opted for the extra step because I knew that I needed my feet to get some major TLC. All in all, the scrub and the mask-ish mint that was refreshing. However, cons -- the ten minute massage with the towel? I don't think that happened but it's okay. There was a lot of callous scrubbing but wondered why she didn't use some callous removing gel. I use this at home and it works wonders. I wish that there was more scrubbing or gel because day after, I noticed that there was some more skin that needed to be removed. The nail technician tried to start conversation but it died out because I couldn't really understand her. Thinking back, I remember her wanting to tell me all that she did "extra" like removing or filing down the nail. I understand wanting to earn that extra tip but ... it's my feet. I can feel everything you're doing, haha. After some waiting at the manicure station, I was greeted by another technician who did my gel manicure. She shaped my nails really well but I can't say that she did anything else impressive. I've taken pictures of the gel polish that was under my nails. Polish started to bubble after just four days. To say the least, it's off now. When checking out, they gave me a business card with some punching to redeem some gel polish service. They were offering other clients a ticket for a raffle of some sorts but I don't know if that was to all clients, because I didn't receive a ticket to fill out. All in all, it's a beautiful spot but the service wasn't up to the standard that I was expecting. I apologize for the pictures but I truly expected a little more. I don't want polish on my skin, or under my nails. Maybe I'd come back? I'm debating it. Maybe on a really slow day so that I can see other technicians. read more
