It's not a trip to Bonefish without an order of Bang, Bang Shrimp
    Kwame S.

A little bit of a back story. Normally, some of my friends & family in Va. Beach will head to a local Bonefish Grill the day before Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve for happy hour (well, "social hour") bites and sips. Since I could not make it to Va. Beach for this holiday, I randomly checked to see if there was a Bonefish Grill near our current location. Lo and behold, there is about 30 min (by car) from Silver Spring. After learning this, our preThanksgiving happy hour plans were set. I'll say that Bonefish Grill really stays on point with their branding because the this location is set up in the exact same manner as the one in Va. Beach even down to the location of the restrooms. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at this Bonefish Grill. For bites, we went with plates of mussels, calamari, Bang Bang Shrimp (of course), and risotto. Everything was absolutely delicious. While everything hit the spot, the grand prize has to go to the fried calamari because the dish was full of flavor. I think they actually season the batter and/or breading, which goes a long way in my opinion. Also, the butter wine sauce for the mussels was so amazing and really enhanced the seafood delights. They service was pretty good. Although our bartender was not super chatty, he was a very nice gentleman and made sure that we were well taken care of. I thought the prices was more of less on par with what I expected based on my experiences at the Va. Beach location. If I do not make it to Va. Beach for future Thanksgivings or Christmases, I hope to drop by this Bonefish Grill for some fun bites and sips.

We had lunch here on Sunday. We stated with the bang bang shrimp - fried and crispy with a nice sauce. My family all had the grilled sea bass with chinichurri on the side (single protein with sauce in fine print on the menu) which is a staple when we come here. It is consistently delicious! I tried the pan seared blackened tuna. It was delicious! The fish was rare and cooked perfectly and the hot mustard sauce was delicious with a little kick. Our server seemed a little overwhelmed even thought it was not very busy.

The service was great. The host and servers were so nice and some of the trainees were really cute. Skip the calamari - you mostly taste the batter. It's not terrible but very skipable. The sauce was okay but doesn't pair well with calamari. I do give them points for not just doing cocktail sauce. I recommend the bistro cut chimichurri. It was exactly what I needed as a carnivore. The asparagus was worth the premium side and the fries were good. We did 3 course meal (recommend). The Caesar salad was solid. The SAUCY SHRIMP CAVATAPPI PASTA was very good. The olives, roasted tomatoes and shrimp were such a great combination with the pasta and sauce. I felt like Remy from Ratatouille with the combination of flavors and how they came together. The brownie was good as well. It was a great deal. As you can see we forgot to take pictures before we ate. I would come here again for that pasta and steak and to try their other desserts.

The food is usually pretty good, I had a gift card and thought I'd Get a salad and Halloween beverages. The server advised only if you were in a certain seated area. That didn't make sense so I ordered the salad to go with salmon, which was delicious when I had it at home. Service took a while, but had to order additional item to complete gift card so I got the corn crab soup which was good as well. Finally got a water while waiting- maybe next year on the drinks

This event was one of a kind. Bonefish had their 25th yr anniversary Anchored in Flavor event. The event included a 5 course meal with each course paired with a cocktail. The cost of the event was only $60. The event lasted about 3 hours but with great company it seemed like time was flying by. The food was delicious. They selected their fan favorites to serve which was awesome. And the drinks were amazing. Each paired nicely with the course. The ambiance was great per usual. Aesthetically pleasing of course. Overall, I had a great time and would love to come back to another event.

Mussels from the Happy Hour Menu

Since we came before 6:30 PM on a weeknight, I ordered my main meal from the Happy Hour menu. I got the calamari with peppers and sweet, spicy Asian sauce. The Mussels Josephine was a smaller portion than the main dinner menu but perfect size for me. It contained tomatoes, red onion, garlic, basil, and lemon wine sauce. It was really great, however, there was not much of a "soup" later. And the last dish I ordered was the "Crowd Pleaser" to share with my dining companion. It definitely had something for everyone. There was Bang Bang Shrimp, Tempura Crunch Sashimi Tuna, and Kung Pao Brussels Sprouts. My companion ordered the Fish n Chips along with the Garlic Whipped Potatoes as another side. Food was excellent all around. Service was fantastic thought a bit slow for a weeknight. There did seem to be enough staff for a weeknight. Plenty of free parking. I hope to be back soon to try other items that looked pretty good.

Delivery but we've been to this restaurant many times before & loved the food. Not anymore! Ordered a bowl of chowder, bang bang shrimp appetizer, & crab cake appetizer. Inedible all! Soup bowl looks like a cup and had mostly raw crunchy potato chunks in it with corn & red pepper flakes. BB shrimp breading was mostly pepper (you can easily see it) & could not disguise the poor quality of the shrimp not to mention the browning lettuce hunk on top. I've never eaten a spicier & peppery crab cake. One was too much! This food was a definite departure from Bonefish fare of pre pandemic! Do not know who the chef is, but all the food had pepper overkill & red pepper flakes galore in there. Hated everything. Pepper overwhelmed whatever flavor lurked under its potency. Won't repeat the experience.

I haven't been to a Bonefish Grill in a while but I realized that they now have an everyday happy hour so I had to check it out! Our server Lansana was immaculate. This is hands down the best service I have ever received at any restaurant. He was super attentive and very communicative about the progress of our order. The drinks were delayed because the bar was busy and he was very transparent. The food was also pretty good! We had the crowd pleaser which was $15 and came with bang bang shrimp, ahi tuna and king pao brussel sprouts. We also got an order of the calamari which didn't look that tasty but ended up being delicious. We also had the bourbon sour and the margarita and both were also excellent. It is a pretty big restaurant and they have plenty of high tops in the bar area with a few tvs. Overall good spot got happy hour or lunch.

Bonefish grill has outstanding seafood. The reason I only gave it four stars is because it is alittle pricey.

Ask the Community - Bonefish Grill

Is the happy hour menu available in the restaurant as well as the bar or just the bar area?

Just the bar area and high top tables/booths

I noticed that they open earlier on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Most restaurants typically have brunch just on Sundays or on the weekends, but is the brunch menu available also on Friday? If so, what are the brunch hours?

No. Brunch is only Saturdays and Sundays from open until 2-3pm. Friday and Saturday hours are 11-11 and Sunday hours are 10-9.

We asked the host for an odd favor and not only did she honor it, but also followed up well after we were seated. Our server, Josh, was so knowledgeable on the menu items (both food and beverages) and gave the best recommendations. Our drinks were delicious and strong, and the food was reasonably priced and pretty tasty. We left stuffed and had to go boxes so you can say you get a bang for your buck. We did have an issue with one of our entrees, but it was quickly handled with care. All in all, zero complaints. Burtons is a solid choice for a casual restaurant.

I reached out and was speaking to the back end and was told that they were sorry for the quality and quantity of food and that they would mail me a gift card. I am attaching a photo of receipt of how much we ordered. We ordered a chocolate cake, the photo online showed a massive slice of cake, ours looked as if someone cut half of it off where the cake is supposed to be pointed. $12 for half a cake. My bfs meal was supposed to come with two sides. He ordered mashed potatoes and cole slaw. The mashed potatoes were in with the steak and it was a small portion that looked like a small ice cream scoop, ribeye ($49.00). We did not get the Cole slaw. We ordered a house side salad. It was literally a huge chunk of iceberg lettuce thrown in a bowl with some of the sides. ($14.00) I ordered the steak frites (34.00) the fries were fine, my steak had these weird pieces (see photo) inside, that were veins or ligaments but def not edible and very chewy and gross. I chewed a few pieces and kept having to over chew and then would spit out the pieces because it was rubbery, after the second piece I noticed the texture and then spit it out, then saw whatever it was that was causing the texture and issue. Seeing that immediately made me lose my appetite. So I was left hungry and turned off by my meal and filled up on calamari and fries. I have ordered this before and it usually comes with a nice amount of slices. Mine came with four pieces of sliced steak. We ordered the calamari and had no complaints. The back end comes to my house and drops off a GC of $25.00! Which to me is an insult. For that they can keep their cheap cop out. I will not be back. We spent $134.00 and tipped $19.00 for a take out order. And all they could give us back for a terrible experience and quality of food was $25.00?! Their salad alone was $14. The cake is $12. So basically come back spend more money and we will cover one simple thing but several of your items were sub par and or gross. I would not recommend. This restaurant took a lot of money and did the bare minimum to fix the issue and threw a minimum amount to appease the customer. But didn't mind taking my hard earned money, which I will now spend elsewhere. I also will be mailing back the card. Whoever came to my condo to drop off the gift card came at midnight. Which to me is weird and an odd time to come to someone's house. I have it on security video.

I will say that I was a TAD bit disappointing that the tuna was not raw. I was expecting the sushi style spicy tuna but it was like tuna mayo onigiri but with sriracha. Still good, but just wasn't what I was expecting. Cause whenever I hear "Spicy tuna" I think sushi spicy tuna. The crab onigiri was 100% my jam. It was so good, well formed. Rice was well done. Funny enough, when I ordered it - the woman told me it was her favorite too. I would easily come back for that onigiri. But honestly. I can't wait to try the like 8 other flavors too.
