Went on Wednesday and was promptly seated with my sister. However that's where things went wrong. We waited 20 minutes and was never even greeted by anyone. Finally went up to inform the host and her response to me stating no one has even acknowledged us yet was "oh they haven't?" She then continued to talk to another several in front of me about whose table it meant to be and stated "he might not know" . She then told me someone would be over. Another 5 minutes and Shane ? I believe finally came over to ask us what we want to drink and if we've been here before . We ordered our drinks but upon further thought decided to just cancel them and leave . Just had dinner celebrating anniversary so my husband and I both ordered an espresso martini. It was awful! Neither of us could drink it . My husband wanted to complain but I told him no since I had already complained about the Mac and cheese which was so spicy I couldn't eat it. The waiter said he would remove it from the bill so I didn't want to complain about the dirty water we were served as espresso martinis. I said let's just pay and not come back but on the way out the hostess asked if everything was ok so I took the opportunity to complain about the martinis we left on the table. Well the manager/owner ( he said he was the new owner) was standing there so he asked what was wrong with the martinis. I told him they tasted like dirty dishwasher! He said well we did change the recipe. I asked how they make them. We don't use espresso but use cold brew! He agreed with me that they were not good and tasteless and went as far as to say they had other complaints. So I asked him why not make them with real espresso (like they used to , the old owners) he answered that he would then have to charge an additional $3.99 for the espresso on top of the $12.10 . I asked Why are you making espresso martinis without espresso, with cheap vodka, without coffee liqueur or anything else that goes into it? He said just don't order them we have other cocktails! Wow! Told him we would not return as customers. He gave us a $25 gift card which we will not be using!!! If they are skimping on the coffee martinis what else are they skimping on? We try our hardest not to eat at chains, but we were in the mood for something different and haven't been here for about 15 years. The wait staff is older here, normally in chain restaurants you have your 17-20 year old. The older wait staff made this place feel much more classy. The wife and I decided to do a Sunday brunch at Bonefish. We both were excited about it seeing it was our first time in this place. I have heard some mixed reviews some were bad, some were good. Lets say more good than bad, so in my book I'll give it a go. Bonefish Grill as we all know is a chain seafood establishment, that has been around for a while. Hey you figure yes they are a chain, yes they have the same menu , but maybe the chef / cook could be different in here than other locations. Nice establishment over here in the Deptford area , with a nice decor all around with a not to dark, not to bright setting. Noticed a nice sized bar in here, with TVs , good selections on tap with a nice selection of liquors. The service in here is friendly , on the game when it came to service. Tables and booth seating, this place uses their space effectively I must admit. Myself I went with a 11 once wood grilled sirloin cooked medium, with a jumbo lump crab cake, creamy seasoned vegetables, and potatoes au gratin. My lovely wife went with a western omelette, with house made turkey chorizo, cilantro, cheddar, with a lime sour cream. Myself I did enjoy my dish, the steak was a little past the medium part, but not to the point where I was chewing all day. The crab cake was in my mind delicious, so it did make up for the steak . The potatoes au gratin was clearly the winner here, with the crab cake coming in second. This was simply delicious, not to heavy cooked just right . My wife's omelette looked good, she wasn't overly impressed by it. The chorizo she said was too salty, didn't have a good taste to it. She had also mentioned the use of the cilantro, she asked where was it. I think I am going to go with her opinion, seeing her Latina back round with the Spanish dishes she makes. Me I am not into the whole "Turkey Chorizo" or " turkey bacon", not my cup of tea. Chorizo a Spanish sausage that should always be pork , just like bacon should be pork, not beef, not turkey... pork . Its like Soy milk. Why do you even bother to call it milk , it shouldn't even be in the same isle as my milk , nor in the same vicinity of my milk. Sorry almost got away from the subject and into a little rant. In all for our first visit here was good with the service ,even if they did have a few minor flaws. Their menu does look good even though we were limited to a brunch menu. The regular menu does look good, they have more dishes to choose from that looked very good. We'll be going back again, even if the meals we had ordered were just OK. Normally I'm not a fan of the chain places but Bonefish is different. It feels like a small joint. This was our first time at this location. We arrived around 7 and it was quite busy. We were sat a booth almost immediately. Our server was very nice and accommodating. She brought out the bread as we were greeted. We love their bread. I went with the red fish special. OMG it was fantastic! It was creole seasoned just like we were in New Orleans. It was cooked to perfection and just the right amount of spice. The corn that came with it was just as good. The green beans were a bit under cooked for my taste. My wife went with the house salad and crab cakes. The crab cakes were good and not much filler. The sauce was a bit too much for my wife, she would have preferred it on the side. The house salad was fresh and delicious. They have some of the best salad dressing around. We went for lunch today, seated at the bar area. Nice large clean booths, service good, manager attentive. As for the food it was not so good at all for the second time. I had linguine with shrimp mussels and bay scallops. I specifically asked server can I get the pasta made al dente? She said yes. I said are you sure otherwise I will order something else. I was reassured so I ordered it. Came out pasta NOT AL DENTE. You could tell precooked then tossed in hot water once order comes in. The mussels were frozen I'm sure, over cooked, a couple had a weird taste to it, my companion ate the tiny shrimps which was also very over cooked, I asked if I could get linguine in white, meaning wine garlic instead the tomatoes server said " oh IT IS in white sauce." It was in a BLUSH CREAM sauce. My meal was bad, all the ingredients tasted like it was nuked or extremely over cooked. Don't order what I did, or pasta, it was on their special. $70+ with tip and my companion had fish taco & some fries, the calamari appetizer was very good. We were really hungry and decided to stop here because we know they have nice seafood selections. The restaurant was very nice and clean at this location. When we got to our table we had a very nice and helpful gentleman as our waiter. He was very helpful and attentive. My friend and I both ordered drinks. I had a glass of rose' and she had a whisky sour. They were both tasty. As an appetizer we ordered the Ahi Tuna and it was so delicious. It was seasoned lovely and had a nice sauce. I would definitely order it again. For the entrees we had the shrimp and scallops and as my sides I had the Au Grantin Potatoes and salad . The other dish was the tuna special with spinach and jasmine rice. My shrimp and scallops were good. I got a lemon butter sauce with it and the shrimp tasted like it but the scallops didn't. My potatoes were decent and the salad was a tasty. I enjoyed my dish. For the tuna dish my friend said hers was good. She said she didn't like the avocados in the salsa mix and the rice was dry. It was really nice because a lady that was sitting near us actually gave us a free entree coupon. That was really nice and awesome of her. Our waiter expressed that we could absolutely use it and he would apply it. He was a great guy, he checked on us very often and made sure we were good. He also asked us about dessert and we actually decided to partake in the strawberry shortcake to go. Once I tried the shortcake the next day it was okay. The biscuit was really good with the vanilla sauce. I wasn't a huge fan of the strawberry mix however but it wasn't horrible. All in all I would say this was a great dinner night. I can't complain. Bonefish grill is a decent restaurant option for this area of south jersey. They have an amazing happy hour with beer, wine, cocktail and food specials. They also have tons of seating in both the bar and main restaurant areas so even when it's really crowded you likely won't have to wait long. We've never eaten at Bonefish Grill before. We were in the area and decided to stop for lunch today. We were seated in a booth pretty quickly. Our waiter was Joseph C. His white waiters jacket was absolutely filthy. One pocket was nothing but ink stains from his pen, and the rest of his jacket was covered in food stains and spills. Completely unacceptable! His appearance was very off putting and I wonder why he was permitted to serve food in such a filthy jacket. Should have been a warning of what was to come. I ordered the band bang Shrimp tacos, my boyfriend the Eggs Benedict. We got Bloody Marys while we waited for the meal. Very good Bloody Marys. Spicy and garnished well. We waited quite sometime for the food. Our order was simple. The restaurant was not full, so not sure why it took so long. The Eggs Benedict was the worst my boyfriend ever had. The English muffin wasn't toasted. One of the eggs was overcooked, and had no visible yoke. The sauce was completely flavorless and they used cheap tasting ham instead of canadian bacon ! My tacos were also substandard. Small, heavily breaded shrimp with a small amount of diced tomatoes and a funky white sauce that tasted like ranch mayo. Nothing I would ever want to eat again. I got a side of broccoli which was flaccid and tasted like it was from last night. We'll never eat at a Bonefish Grill again. Typical chain fare with no attention to detail. Came here on a whim & had a huge card to use. Random Monday night around 8:30 with plenty of seating available. Waitress immediately brought us water when we were seated. Ordered the bang-bang shrimp for appetizers and it didn't disappoint. $5 Martinis tonight, but we opted for just water. Pretty good deal though considering they are usually around $8. Although the specials sounded amazing, we both chose off the regular menu. The crab crusted cod was delicious but could've used more crab. It came with 2 sides & I picked the mashed potatoes and the vegetables of the day was green beans, so I upgraded to the grilled asparagus. Wish I paid attention that it was $5 because for that cost, it was $1 an asparagus. I would've selected something else instead. It for taste good though! The hubby got the other cod dish which had capers & mozzarella on it.... Very, very good! For his sides he picked potatoes au gratin and the coleslaw.. both decent. I am usually not the one to write bad reviews, however, this has to be made known. My first dining experience at this location was a disaster. Upon entering, I was greeted at the door which is great. When I was sat I did not receive a server for several minutes. When the server arrived I ordered a water and appetizer. The water did not reach my table until 15 minutes. It wasn't even busy! Never received the appetizer after waiting another 15 minutes. Even then, I decided to give them another chance. My second experience, I was sat and waited 10 minutes and no one asked for my drink order. I couldn't bare to have this happen to me again so I left. Poor service. We came in with high expectations the bang bang shrimp was very highly recommended to us. The staff was cordial but the food was not worth the high prices. We ordered steaks and bang bang shrimp and scallops. There were only a few scallops served which was a disappointment as the price was a bit high. I order my steak rare unfortunately this was t only rate it was blue. A term meaning so rare it's unable to be cut or chewed and is cold. I sat down to have drinks with a few family members and as we sat and spent our green dollars the owner came out and spoke to the couple to the left and the right of us. Never once did he greet us and ask how our experience was. His excuse was because we didn't have food in front of us ....once I asked him ! Poor excuse for an owner . We met up with a friend and about 20 of his friends for a nice birthday dinner. After a little disorganization we seemed to settle into our massively long table and got the drink orders on the way. Note for a party this big, it might have been better to split up some checks. Anywho, onto the food! Of course I think everyone should start out with the Bang Bang Shrimp. No questions asked, it's just a incredible way to start the meal. I have before tried the Lamb Lollipop Chops and Ceviche, but the BBS is just a solid choice. Many people come to BoneFISH grill and get something ya know, with seafood. Me on the other hand absolutely LOVE the Fontina Pork Chop. Now this is an odd choice for me. Fish being this restaurant's speciality I think I should aim that way and also, I'm not a huge pork chop fan. But this dish is plate licking worthy amazing in every bite. The sauce so thick and rich it could have been a demi-glace. The mushroom Marsala sauce did bring this dish over the top, but the kicker was the piece of pork, juiciest I have ever had. Classic restaurant; food is always good. Went on Friday night and there was a wait but only 30 minutes they said so we took a seat in the bar area after putting out number on the waitlist. Atmosphere was nice ambient lighting. It wasn't too mosey or really over crowded it seemed. Ordered a drink at the bar while we waited. Rick the bar tender was super nice and attentive. Kept asking us if we wanted to order food or appetizers. We declined at first as there were plenty of open tables and we were sure to be seated soon. After waiting more than an hour he offered appetizers and we ordered from there. We were ultimately glad we did so because he was friendly and educational about the various liquors. . I was not expecting this location to curate such a delicious and fresh meal considering that it doesn't even get 4 stars. I was in the area so I decided to give it a try. The salmon was cooked to perfection, definitely not too salty, in fact I added a little salt to mine. The garlic mashed potatoes were just the type of comfort food I was craving. Asparagus was also cooked just right; meaning not mushy. If you want fresh seafood in South Jersey then this is your safest bet. Try Bonefish Grill out if you want a change from the typical chain restaurants like Red Lobster and Olive Garden. The prices are fair, depending on what type of dish you get. And they have a full bar with everyday happy hour specials. This place is known for their Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer, and let me tell you that it this small dish lives up to its name. It's definitely bangin! I would come to Bonefish just for their Bang Bang Shrimp. For my main dish, being that I'm a creature of habit and big on burgers, I had their Kobe Beef Burger with a side of homemade chips. It was very tender and juicy, really just cooked to perfection in my opinion. And their chips weren't that bad. A little bit on the soggy side, but you can tell they weren't store-bought chips.. they were better. It's a little dark in the restaurant, but it definitely has a romantic kind of feel to it. The atmosphere is cute. Perfect place for a date, but of course even just to go out to eat with family and some friends. The service is usually very good but when I went last night, we felt like we were being rushed by our waiter. It might of just been him because I definitely had better service before, but my mom and sister both said they wouldn't come back.
