My wife and I went for our anniversary last night without a reservation. We were able to be seated immediately and were helped just as fast. We both had lobster bisque and an appetizer. The bang bang shrimp was very good, but the lobster bisque was not at all good. Couldn't taste anything but the overpowering flavor of white wine, and was only luke warm. While we had just started our soup our dinners arrived. My wife had their fish and chips which was adequate nut not really flavorful. I ordered the cod imperial and expected better. The cod was overcooked and the sauce overpowering. As my sides I ordered the garlic mashed potatoes and cole slaw. The mashed potatoes had no garlic taste whatsoever and were instant potatoes. The coleslaw tasted very heavy of vinegar. Our server was very attentive and polite and explained everything thoroughly. If it wasn't for him, dinner would have been a total flop. The restaurant was clean and well organized. Overall, not impressed and will not go back as there are many choices for seafood in the area. read more

First time going to this restaurant. Not many people there. Seated at table Took a while for someone to come n serve us. Finally a manager came and took our drink order and apologized for the lack of attention. Gave us a free appetizer. Two other couples came in and were seated and waited on immediately. We got up and left. It wasn't racist, everyone working there seem to have an attitude on this last day of 2023. Hopefully 2024 will serve them better read more

This was my first going to this place. Their seafood selection is very fresh. I had their new signature pasta with salmon, and it was well made. However this pasta wasn't really seasoned enough for my taste. That may not be the case for you, but it was for me. The salmon wasn't fishy or scaly in texture. The toodles were not overly firm or flimsy. The flavors together worked very well, and I do recommend putting the lemon juice on your pasta. It adds a really good flavor to the pasta. The Cod Imperial had a good flavor. The fish and chips don't disappoint either. In my personal opinion the grab fries and bang bang shrimp are really good. The grab on those fries are real grab, not imitation, which I love. The sauce that they add really makes it taste good, and not over powering. I Definitely recommend this place if you want fresh seafood. However if you are looking for things to be seasoned to a certain level. Some items may not be for you. The price matches for the quality of seafood you are getting. If you don't mind spending a little extra for quality then this is your place. read more

Very nice place a little expensive but very nice and the food and service is excellent

TIP - You can put your name on the waiting list ahead of time on their website! That cuts your wait time in half when you arrive. Absolutely love Bonefish. Great food, great service, and a good mid-range priced place to eat a nice dinner. My wife and I come here frequently because of the fresh, high quality food. To top it off, they have some of the best (complimentary) bread! This location is in a strip mall, where parking is free and abundant. If you're into the dinner and a movie thing - the best theatre on this side of town is in this same complex (less than a 3 minute walk). Overall, highly recommend for couples or for business dinners. read more

Bonefish Grill - My favorite new dish here - this is the grilled chicken bowl! So filling and tasty! - Seafood Near Me - Columbia, South Carolina

This was only my second or third time eating at Bonefish grill. You can only pull up the menu on your phone now, which was inconvenient for me (I had left my phone in the car). We got the bang bang shrimp appetizer and it was delish. I had a bowl of the corn chowder and lump crab soup. It was a bit on the rich side, but pretty tasty. The service was excellent. One of my friends didn't really like what she got (tuna steak) and the waitress noticed, offered to bring something else and when she declined then offered to take it off the bill. I thought that was excellent customer service, and for that reason, I will probably be back to eat more than just soup! read more

Went out with my wife for an early date night dinner and enjoyed some great food! The staff was friendly and service reasonable for a Friday evening. Started off the meal with wagyu beef sliders and this was the only thing that held backa 5th star. The sliders were overcooked; they still tasted good but could've been better. My main course had perfectly cooked fish and shrimp, with a nice wood grilled flavor and seasoning. The fresh vegetables provided a nice side and garlic mashed potatoes formed a nice balance. Bonefish is a bit pricey but the food is great! We'll be back for sure for another special occasion. read more

Bonefish Grill - Seafood Near Me - Columbia, South Carolina

My husband and I had dinner at Bonefish Grill for the first time and it was probably the best dining experience we've had in Columbia. The atmosphere was great. Nice decor, dim lighting, good ambiance; some might think it's a little on the loud side but we were fine with it. The service was EXCELLENT. From the time we walked in to the time we left, the staff was very professional, accomodating (they even offered to turn down the air because I was cold), attentive and personable. The food was delicious! We started with the Bang Bang Shrimp (probably my favorite dish of the evening), crispy shrimp with a light creamy spicy glaze served on a bed of lettuce..SO good! I could probably have that with jasmine rice as my main entree. Then, we shared the caesar salad, which was more flavorful than most we've tried. For our main courses, my husband had the Chilean Sea Bass with the pan-asian sauce, jasmine rice and vegetables; and I had the filet mignon with garlic whipped potatoes and vegetables. We both enjoyed our dishes very much. Finally, for dessert, we had the Bananas Foster. The bananas had a sweet rum glaze and were served atop two cinammon sugar crisps, with two very generous scoops of vanilla ice cream and homemade whipped cream..yum!! We definitely plan on coming back again and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone! read more

Very overpriced for the service you receive. Most of our dishes were dirty. We had to ask for clean water glasses as there were things floating in the water. The food tastes decent, but not for the price point. I won't bother spending $40 for a sad brunch again. read more

For many years, this was my go to chain for a nice meal out. Consistency of menu and usually quality of food. We dined at this location Friday night with reservations and we were seated properly. Our server at first was very diligent and attentive answering questions etc. Our food came before our drinks, water was not offered. I ordered the mahi-mahi blackened... blackened does not mean overcooked and hard, since our waiter never came back we never got a chance to voice concern so I ate my partners meal and we shared it. Overall it wasn't a horrible experience but when you pay $100 for two people to have dinner you expect a little nicer quality of food. read more

Went on a Friday night at 6:00. No problem getting a seat. Had a gift card to use so why not. Seated right away in bar area, but had to let hostess know we needed a server after being seated 10 minutes. Once our server came the evening was good. She was professional and catered to my shellfish allergy finding out from kitchen what I could and could not have. Settled in Wagyu burger and brussel sprouts. Both very good. My husband had spicy ahi tuna bowl he said was good. Didn't have drinks or dessert but will be back another time for that. Overall a good experience, just not five stars in my opinion read more

I am shooooccccccked. I used to go out to Bonefish (not this location) for a nice family dinner. I thought the menu was different and the food well prepared. It had been a few years since I'd been. This is not the same place. I got charged 9$ for a salad with only romaine lettuce. The soup was not fresh made. It came in a bag. The bread that came was stale, the olive oil tasted rancid. We ordered the bang bang shrimp... a bone fish staple! It obviously is prepackaged frozen shrimp, the bang bang sauce is from a jug. I had the filet and crab cake with garlic whipped potatoes and seasonal vegetables. I will post a photo of the 'crab crumble' filled with shell and the giant hunk of NOT filet... rare... so rare that I tried to cut off the edible part ... I had a bite. The potatoes are not even fresh potatoes !!! They are the literal potato flakes that you add water to. The seasonal vegetable was boiled broccoli with no seasoning. That is a 30$ meal?! My husband had a burger ... a frozen burger heated ... he unfortunately also had the 'garlic whipped potatoes' I can't even bring myself to try the key lime cake.... Ugh. What a disappointment Bonefish. Never again. read more

We have come here many times and the food and service is always good. They're not doing the wed night bang bang shrimp special during COVID, but that doesn't stop us. Megan L. has been our server the last couple of times we've been and she is the absolute best. Giving good service seems like such a simple thing and yet it's so hard to come by these days. We talk about going other places, but when the food is always good and the service is always good at this Bonefish, it's hard to want to go anywhere else. Thanks for being awesome, Megan L.! read more

I have always heard great things about Bonefish so I finally decided to check it out. I was surprised at how flawless our service and food was. Bonefish exceeded my expectations and has me wanting to go back for dinner! My husband and I had the Sunday brunch selections, soup, salad, and complimentary bread with oil and herb dipping. From entrance to exit we fell in love with how beautiful it was inside, classy, smooth music, and the food was just..WOW! My omelette was done just right and the Au gratin potatoes were pure bliss. I believe Jacob was our server and he did a superb job at acquainting us with the menu and their never frozen fish recommendations. We will be back very soon! read more

It is hard to describe my delight in this meal. The food was beyond great. The best meal in a restaurant I have had in years. We had the Bang Bang Shrimp for an appetizer and man is it well named. Took my Mom for drinks and appetizers after Christmas shopping today . I was very disappointed, as my family used to go to Bonefish all the time. The margarita was awful , sent it back the second tasted almost as bad as first . Tasted like the sour mixer was spoiled . Called ahead and was told there was a 15 min wait time. Arrived to check in and they said they'd text us when table was ready because we were next in queue. Waited approx 30 min then went back to check in and was told they were no longer seating people due to managers orders. They were very rude and the hostess had to be told to greet us by another coworker. She had no intention of helping us because "they were no longer seating guests". I expected much better service from such a "classy" restaurant. Do not plan on going back anytime soon. I hope the manager on duty is told about this. read more

I had to go back here a second time. Went for dinner again this time it was a Wednesday night. So it wasn;t crazy busy. We found a table at the restaurant. They had their spicy shrimp appetizers for $5 - specials for Wednesdays. Thats what the waitress told us. Anyways I tried the rainbow trout with mango salsa, 2 sides - veggie medley and garlic mashed potatoes and a glass of shiraz. Totally awesome dinner! read more

The service was terrible and so was the food. Went for Sunday brunch a little after 1:00 pm today. It took about 10 minutes for the server to come to the table, even though it wasn't busy. It took forever for my mimosa to get to the table. The bread plate was very wet and the bread was barely warm. My husband's grits were extremely dry. He tried to reconstitute them with butter, but it didn't work. I added egg to my avacado toast, but the "toast" is 2 skinny pieces of french bread, so the eggs were on a totally separate plate. But, the worst part of our meal was my potatoes au gratin. There were no bread crumbs or toasted edges on them, they were undercooked with several dark pieces, and the cheese was like squirt cheese. We won't go back! read more

As a general rule I don't give corporate places 5 stars. Why you ask? I grew up eating at mom & pop places and that is just my thing. If anyone actually uses my reviews to judge a place, I want to steer them to a local place. I appreciate the corporate experience (once upon a time I may have been a server at a corporate place with a Rolling Stone's name), but I like to support local business. I wrote that diatribe to try to show how genuine this 5 star rating is. I've dined at Bonefish many times, and not once have I experienced even a hiccup. I've come without a reservation and told I'd have to wait ____ never once have I waited one minute more than I was told, and usually it's way shorter of a wait than I was told. Service is always spot on, even when they are incredibly busy. The food is just outstanding. You can't get better seafood. From the fattening but delicious bang bang shrimp & the tuna shashimi (I'd call it seared) appetizers to the deserts and everything in between is great. I must say I've gone with specials most times I've dined, but the wood grilled fish is amazing as well (have had the tuna with the asian sauce more than once). Last night we went with a group of six. I had the Sockeye Salmon special with bacon, spinach and blue cheese topping. It was the best Salmon I've had at a restaurant in sometime. I recently got this same special at one of Columbia's top fine dining joints. It was good there, but at Bonefish it was great!... My wife got the grouper special that was also great. My bro-in-law got the Sirloin & Crabcake surf and turf and it looked great. My mother got the Lobster Tails, and they were cooked perfectly. Service was great. Good wine, beer, and even non-alcoholic beer for those who don't partake or are expecting. I honestly can't wait to go back. Corporate or not, this place is a 10! read more

Very friendly takeout service. Very dark! Hung out and watched the Beef O'Brady Bowl while waiting for my food. What exactly is Beef O'Brady and why are they sponsoring a bowl game? Took the crab cakes and lobster/corn chowder home. They were yummy and the hostess threw in some bread and oil too. The place was packed at 8 pm on the Tuesday before Christmas. Lively crowd. I've been to the one in Destin before but it's been ages. The restaurant is in a cute outdoor mall. Is this really the best place in Columbia? It was good, really good but can't believe that this is it. Maybe it is. Don't live there so what do I know... read more

Came here for Mother's Day and it was PACKED. Hostess was pretty rude and you can tell they were all pretty beat down. I asked for a table for 3 and before I could get the entire sentence out, she said "Do you have a reservation". I shook my head no as she let me know "Hour and a half wait". This was at 2 pm and they definitely were still packed. However, the bar tables had NO ONE at them and she didn't offer them. I waited for a few minutes thinking maybe they were reserved but once I asked the bartender, she let me know they were first come first serve. So after a rocky start with the burnt out hostess, we had a great time. Our server was efficient and friendly and had good suggestions for what we were in the mood for. The bang bang shrimp were great as usual. We had the bang bang tacos also. Crab cake app was ok - not as flavorful as I would have hoped but definitely have a lot of crab and no filler. The corn and crab chowder was excellent. The manager gets an A+ from me because we told him how chilly it was at the bar, and he turned the fans down! read more

I cannot believe we waited so long to try Bonefish Grille. Start with a pineapple martini... they are fantastic! Even eating there on a Saturday night, the bar was pretty quick about getting our drinks, so you can actually have more than one with your meal. We ordered the bang bang shrimp for our appetizer. Don't let a fear of heat scare you away... it's a very mild spice, the creamy sauce, really cuts the heat. This is my new favorite shrimp dish. Our entrees were great, came out quickly. The seasonal zucchini ragu is very unusual, but tasty. I had grilled shrimp & scallops with lemon butter sauce. Delicious. Too full to order dessert. All the staff were quite pleasant and helpful, our server was very entertaining and all of her recommendations were dead on. I would recommend this spot! read more

I had been craving Bonefish for a while and my husband and I finally made it. I had only been here twice before and they were a pretty long time ago. Bonefish has a few early starters for a discount between the times of 4-6pm so we ordered some sliders off of the menu. The best part of the sliders is the creamy sauce they add to them. Almost wish they would give you that as a dipping sauce. The burgers were a little overcooked for the type of beef. I ordered the dynamite shrimp with the garlic whipped potatoes and coleslaw. The shrimp themselves were wood grilled and they had a great taste! The garlic potatoes were smooth with no lumps just the way I like them and the coleslaw had a ginger taste too it which made it a nice light summer side. The dish cost around $19 and while a little on the expensive side the overall taste was great. By the end of the meal I was stuffed! Will definitely be back in the future! read more
