"Wing Deal for 2": When they ask you what side you want, be aware that they consider the fries as a side. ‍
GreenGal M.

Bonchon cheated me last night. I ordered their "Wing Deal for 2"--Only $20! I was seduced by the flyer in their window which states "10 WINGS + 2 FRIES" and shows a photo of the wings and fries. The lady who took my to-go order asked what sides I wanted, and I thought, "Wow! I get sides, too! This is a good deal!" So I asked for pickled radish. She said it'd be 15 minutes for the food to be ready, but I waited close to 30 minutes. That's okay, I'm usually a pretty patient person. When I get home, my BF opens the box. BF: "What do you want to eat with the wings?" ME: "The fries." BF: "What fries?" ME: !!! So, he called Bonchon to ask what to do about the missing fries; should he bring the receipt back to the store, etc. They said, "No, your order is correct, the fries aren't missing. We didn't charge you for them. You asked for pickled radish INSTEAD of fries." Nothing we can do about it. End of conversation. Seriously!!! Why would I pay $20 for 10 wings + pickled radish and NO fries when I can get the better regular deal of $15 for 8 wings with pickled radish already included! Plus, the flyer clearly shows and states "+ 2 FRIES." Why didn't the lady just ask me if I wanted to SUBSTITUTE a different side instead of the fries in the deal? Of course, I want the fries! Now that I've posted the flyer here, I'm sure it will attract some customers. But, Fellow Yelpers, heed my folly and be wary of this precarious deal. Bonchon, you let me down.

South SanFrancisco location Bonchon Greetings to all, this location of Bonchon is located in the mini strip mall near the Pacific Market at the top of Westborough hill. It has a shared parking lot with the other businesses that use the same lot with wheelchair access to the restaurant itself , at times, the parking spaces can fill quickly in the area which the Bonchon is located. The inside of this location has a very modest seating capacity and could use bit more lighting to brighten up the place; but l like it here the way it is. The service is on point and always has been every since I have been coming to this location, l especially like the fact that when I say can get (40 or 90 wings in 1 flavor ) for a Party , and the response is 20 minutes ; I am completely ecstatic. My goto Flavor is always the Sticky finger licking good tasty Hot ones. Mmmm Nice job and keep up the good work.

Ordered the 8 piece wings with spicy sauce and the coleslaw as my side. Ordered on site and was ready within 15 minutes on a drizzly foggy day at 5: 52 pm on a Sunday. Business was slow as there was only one party dining in. This is my normal take out order unless others in our group would be eating this item. Pictured is a previous order where we had bulgogi sliders and wings with spicy flavor and the other half with soy garlic. Food is always consistent so that is one of the reasons we come back when we have a craving for Korean chicken on the go.

I haven't been inside the restaurant yet, but I've ordered from Bonchon South San Francisco multiple times through food delivery and their chicken definitely lives up to the hype. The flavor and crunch are unmatched. Their combo meal is an excellent deal for what you get, and the drumsticks are double the size of a normal one. The corn is also surprisingly amazing with how buttery, sweet, and perfectly seasoned it is. Everything has been consistent every time I've ordered.

Bonchon is a classic fried chicken chain throughout the states. This was my first time dining at this specific location. We decided to stop by on a Friday night for a party of 3. Upon arrival, we got seated quickly as there were plenty of open tables. First thing that greeted us was the sticky tables. We tried to move tables, but it seemed as if every other table was sticky so we decided to just grin and bare it. I didn't think it was uncleanly, however now thinking back, it could be the wax/coating coming off of their tables. Still, the sensation was quite unpleasant. What we ordered is outlined below: Large wing, split into two flavors (soy garlic and spicy): 4.5/5, I wish the spicy wings were a tad more spicy, but nonetheless, these wings were so crispy and freshly fried. The radish complimented the wings so well with its acidity. I preferred the soy garlic over the spicy, it reminded me of the Korean wings you get at your local Korean restaurant, but better. -1 star for the sticky tables; otherwise wings were tasty and I would definitely get take out for next time. Great price point. Staff were friendly.

Bonchon has been my go-to place for chicken wings for a while now. My personal favorite is the soy garlic flavor with radish side dish. I've also tried the spicy chicken wings, but I must warn you, they're extremely spicy! The kimchi fried rice is equally delicious. I had a great experience with this Bonchon location. I ordered from the app and went inside to pick up my food. The customer service was excellent. While this Bonchon location is good, it's not the best. For some reason, the Bonchon chicken wings in Sunnyvale taste much better.

Spicy flavor.

Bonchon was one of the first Korean fried chicken places in the Bay Area and used to be my favorite Korean fried chicken place because the fried breading is unique in that it's not very heavily breaded or thinly breaded. I love the spicy flavor the most followed by the original soy. The sauces are not overly drippy unless other places so I like it. The only problem I have with Bonchon is that it's very inconsistent. Sometimes the drumsticks are huge (almost turkey sized) but other times are much smaller. The chicken sometimes is very moist but other times way too dry. However I still recommend anyone who hasn't tried Bonchon to try it at least once even though there are now many Korean fried chicken places around because the flavor and breading here is unique. This is in a strip mall with a supermarket so parking can be annoying but you should eventually be able to find a place after circling for a while. Bonchon used to be super popular but nowadays you never have to wait for seating. Unfortunately they removed the lunch special and the Bonchon apps (both) are not good so order directly or through something like snack pass.

Bulgogi Fries

This was my first time trying out Bonchon. My wife and I dined here on a Tuesday evening. There were several other diners (about five other tables seated). The service at this location was fast and the food came out promptly, even with all of the take out orders. The wings were crispy, as expected of Korean style wings, and tasty. Portion size was ample considering these are wings. The bulgogi fries were not as hot (temperature) as I feel they should have been and the bulgogi beef needed more flavor. There is ample parking (strip mall lot) and the restaurant appeared clean.

Half and half with soy garlic and spicy

Was sampling chicken wings to try to decide from where to order for a party and Bonchon was one of my places. I got the half and half order with eight wings in two different flavors (soy garlic and spicy) and a side of pickled radish ($16.55). They were pretty good, but the spicy didn't seem to have enough flavor for me; it was spicy but didn't have enough sweetness to it. The soy garlic was good, though. It's hard to decide where the best wings are in this town with lots of different types and offerings and it gets pretty expensive trying to sample them all! The guy behind the counter was great and very helpful! Love it when customer service is up to par!

Came late in the afternoon so the restaurant only had a couple tables occupied. The server greeted me as I walked in and asked me where I'd like to sit. Option 1 or option 2. I picked one and she proceeded to pull the table together for my party of 5. My kids and I eagerly sat down and when I sat down my chair was wet (*ughh) so I walked to the service stand and asked for napkins. Got back to the table and kids said the table was sticky... I asked the server if she could wipe down the table and she said "oh the table is still dirty" -__- *hmmmm why did she ask me if I wanted to sit at a dirty table as opposed to directing me to a clean one? We ordered a wing and drum combo and I thought it was tasty. My teenage daughter said she likes wing stop better anyway she walked up to ask for some ranch and they brought out a 2 oz size cup (only 75% full) to her and didn't say anything. Later one of my other kids got up and asked for another... When my bill came I was charged $2 for ranch. Would've been nice if the server announced that they charge $1 for ranch.

Bulgogi Fries

I've had Bonchon at family parties and it has been good. Came here on a Friday night and got the bulgogi fries and 10 piece boneless wings. Overall I was super disappointed with both. The bulgogi fries were super sparse and came on a huge plate. If they are going to not give many fries I would suggest putting it on a smaller plate to make it look like a larger portion. The boneless wings were extremely small and very average tasting. They tasted like they could've come from a frozen bag sadly. Overall the service was good but for the quality of the food I will not be back.

There is hair in my bowl of rice that came with my chicken.
Armando P.

The chicken I ordered was ok. It was a little too dry and not enough hot sauce. Service was ok. Ambiance of the facility was ok. I gave them a 1 because I found hair in the rice I was eating, which disgusted me. The server/waiter asked if I wanted another bowl of rice. I said no, but he brought me one anyways. I did not eat it because if it's from the same batch, that pot of rice if contaminated already. They should cook a new batch of rice before serving it again. This is a health issue. They need to make sure the cooks wear hair nets. The server apologized. I still got charged for the food. I paid it. Will I come back to this place again? Not!!! This will be the last time I eat here. Now I just have to find a new spot to get my Korean fried chicken. Very disappoint

3 huge drums & someone decides to include one undersized drum that you can't miss at all.
Wendell U.

Quality & serving portions used to be great. Today management no longer cares about consistency in their serving portions & quality of the food being prepared. Kitchen staff does not take seriously what is bring made & sold to their customers. Prices are up but the serving portions are reduced or less if you will compare what you are getting today.

So when we visit a sushi restaurant, we tend to evaluate everything as a whole -- price, quality, service, and of course the flavors. For dinner we ordered the Mango Tuna Roll (which was our first time trying a mango-style sushi roll), the 8-piece Omakase Nigiri, a Double Toro Roll, two pieces of Otoro, and a hot sake. With a 20% tip included, the total for the two of us came to $163.50, which honestly falls within the average range of what we usually spend for a sushi dinner like this. Normally we might pay around $120-$130 depending on the place, sometimes a little more if we add an extra item or two. The portion sizes were pretty standard. Not unusually large, but not small either -- similar to what we've experienced at many other sushi restaurants. Where this place really stood out was the depth of flavor. The quality and balance of the ingredients were excellent. At one point I actually caught myself closing my eyes just to focus on the taste, which is something I almost never do. The preparation felt very refined and the flavors were elevated, rich, and memorable. I would describe it as delicate portions with very elevated flavors. Because of that, I'm giving this place 5 out of 5 stars. This is the kind of restaurant that works perfectly for a nice dinner with your partner. It's not necessarily a place where you go wild ordering everything on the menu like at a taco spot. Instead, it's better to be thoughtful with what you choose and enjoy a few well-crafted dishes. You can easily have a special, enjoyable dinner here without going overboard. Definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and want a quality sushi experience with refined flavors. The only thing I felt was missing was a small welcome miso soup. In some sushi restaurants we've visited, they serve a tiny cup of miso with a couple pieces of tofu as a warm welcome. It's a very small gesture, but it creates a nice first impression and adds a sense of hospitality to the experience. Considering the quality and pricing of the menu here, a simple welcome miso soup would fit perfectly with the overall dining experience.

The star of the show was the dish our little one ordered the Fried Chicken Over Fried Rice everything about this dish married well with each other and tasted spectacular. The Massaman Curry with Chicken was ok it wasn't my family's favorite, the Roti and Cucumber Salad that it came with was ok Roti too crispy for me, Cucumber Salad was super small portion I was expecting a bigger portion and the Curry itself was a tad bit too salty for my liking...I find that it would have been nice if it was served over a bed of rice instead of with Roti. Also my Curry dish was full of chicken pieces and very little potato pieces...please please more potatoes next time. As for the dessert it was good can't go wrong with dessert. Also at one point one of our plates had a little dead gnat on it but the waitress was so attentive when I pointed it out to her she changed the plate setting right away, thank you!! Maybe when I come again next time I can get a different dish. Other than that the place is well kept small and tucked away from a busy street, I believe my family and I know of this restaurant because we passed by a few times while going to other neighboring stores and restaurant.

We had heard such great things about Hula Hoops and were excited to come for Mother's Day brunch. When we arrived Sunday morning, we were seated right away, which was great. However, our party of six was seated with only three food menus and five drink menus. I asked our waitress if we could get additional menus for the rest of the table, and she explained they had run out and were waiting for other guests to finish with theirs. We ended up asking if there was a QR code version we could scan, and she brought one over. I was mostly confused why the QR code wasn't offered immediately, knowing half the table didn't have menus to begin with. It just made the start of the experience feel a little disorganized. That said, there were definitely some positives. The sparkling cider for Mother's Day brunch was a really nice touch, and the Shanghai lumpia was fantastic. I ordered the two-protein silog breakfast with eggs, and while the flavors were good, the single scoop of rice just didn't feel proportionate to the rest of the plate. Any Filipino knows you need a little more rice to balance everything out, so I ended up not finishing my meal because it felt off portion-wise. My son ordered the cheese omelet and said it wasn't his favorite, especially the potatoes. The ube waffles were really yummy though, and my husband enjoyed the sisig tater tots. We just moved to the area and are trying all the restaurants in the cute downtown South City…read moreneighborhood. Really wanted to like this place and was very excited. Here's the good and the bad of it...really tried to be fair, even though we didn't know what to expect. We spent $90 and got five things. 1) Imperial rolls: A MUST - our favorite item 2) Crunchy nem rolls: Avoid - didn't care for these. Didn't contain some of the ingredients advertised and felt like they were made the night before 3) lemon grass beef rice plate: Wasn't what we expected. We thought we were getting bbq'd lemongrass beef and I think this was cooked and then put in a crockpot or something. The taste was fine, but the look and texture was kind of grey and bland 4) five spice chicken salad: LIKED THIS - really enjoyed the flavor of the chicken and the contents of the salad - would def get this again 5) lemon grass beef bun mi - bread and pickled veggies were great, didn't care for the meet Would recommend 2 out of 5 dishes and would return for those dishes. All part of trying new places.
