I'm super excited to have Bonchon in Tennessee! Went to the Smyrna location on their first day of opening and man was it busy! The staff were super friendly and did their best given how many customers were there at the time. We came during the lunch rush and had to wait ~30 minutes to get our food. Since it was pretty busy it was hard to hear them call out my name for my order. The food was delicious. The soy garlic flavor is just as good as the other Bonchon locations I've been to. The spicy could be spicier but I also have a higher spice tolerance than normal. This location offers a good variety of sides. We got the Korean street corn and the seasoned fries. The Korean street corn was very good and the fries were alright (could use more salt). I look forward to ordering from Bonchon Smyrna in the future! Would love to try more of the offerings like their chicken sandwich. Please note that the Bonchon just opened so expect longer waits than usual and be kind to the staff! I ordered the house fried rice with kimchi pork belly. I thought the food lacked flavor. The pork belly lacked taste and I had to check if it was chicken. It was pork but didn't have flavor. I thought the food was ok but I was disappointed enough with the rice that I am very unsure of ordering wings or any other item. Seems to be like a fast food restaurant to me, except the fast part. The parking lot was full and the entrance a little difficult to get into if you're not from around the area. Here we go. It's the same story: new restaurant, new concept, and new management. They just opened up recently. The kids wanted to try it and I said sure. It seemed like a good idea. The restaurant was packed so we couldn't sit down. Therefore we had to take it to go. We stood in line, while the workers took everyone's order. There seems to have been one supervisor and the rest were either front or back of the house workers. The flow of taking the order was fine, and executing the orders was a little slow. Again, they just opened. They'll get into the groove sooner or later. I do appreciate they offer military discount. Once we paid , the waiting started. It was a little busy, and I'd say we waited about 20 minutes. We stood until a table opened up. We sat and waited until someone announced our order was completed. Again it took 20 minutes after we had paid. Meh. We had ordered chicken wings half and half. That's half soy garlic and half spicy. We also ordered Beef Bulgogi Fried rice, Kim chi, and a basket of fries. Here was my opinion: *The chicken was nice and juicy, but there wasn't much flavor. They were stingy with the sauce. It was a little peppery, and the soy ginger was just a flirt with the seasoning. *The rice was ok. I thought it was tossed with too much soy sauce. The beef was good. *The kids ate the kimchi. They thought it was ok. *The fries was good! It was hot, crispy, and had plenty flavor. Just the right amount of salty and peppery. TL;DR My experience was ok. The food was hot and fresh. The flavors were ok at best, and we waited between 15 to 20 minutes for our food. Which is ok. I've heard some had to wait much longer. The price? It was in the $$ range. The chicken wings are ok, but the boneless wing...don't waste your money. They are too hard and "bready". Also, their definition of half and half is not what I thought. They ask if you want spicy, garlic, or half and half. If I say half and half I'm speaking about both sauces, NOT 4 wings spicy and 4 wings garlic! I guess I'm the only one.... We were so excited to hear Bonchon opened in Smyrna. We have been to Orlando's location multiple times, one of our favorite places to eat. We had the chicken wings in this new location, it was delicious! The staff was awesome and very friendly. The only reason why we were not completely happy with it is because of their limited menu. Went for the bibimbap that it showed on their website and to learn it is not sold at this location, boooo! Actually, they don't have a lot of items their menu shows, which is disappointing. The chicken tenders were decent, for a chain Korean fried chicken place. The prices are not great, no side with your food other than "complimentary" coleslaw. Got the "seasoned" fries and they are just weird. More like fries with stuff on the bottom of the plate to scrape up with your fries lol I wanted to like it, but it just wasn't that great. The food was really good! The Seasoned French Fries were piping hot with a nice garlic seasoning. The Korean Street Corn was delicious!!! The Garlic Soy Chicken Tenders came out very hot and crispy. They weren't my personal favorite Korean fried chicken I usually like mine with a little more sauce glazed on it with a different breading as well. But overall the service was really good. The cashier was polite and nice. They also brought our food out to our table which is always nice. The environment was nice and quiet. There is kpop playing but it's not super loud. Overall I give this place a five star because the service was great, food was tasty, and the restaurant as well as restrooms were very clean. I don't know about you all but a clean restroom says a lot for me. But I don't lower stars because of personal changes I would make. Everything was good and it might not have been my favorite Korean fried chicken, but they can still give 5 star service and food. I randomly spotted the Bonchon sign while I was driving through Smyrna one day. I did some searching online and saw that it was a very popular spot. I tried them out a few days after opening. It was packed. The parking lot is small but luckily someone was leaving Freddy's so we parked there. Upon walking in it was a little confusing to navigate as far as the line to order but we quickly figured it out. We ordered 12 wings. At first we were going to get all spicy but decided to do half & half which I'm happy we did. We also ordered the House Fried Rice. We went around 2:30 and waited about 40 minutes. I would suggest going on a day that you have time to kill. Besides the long wait the chicken was good. I really enjoyed the soy garlic. The house fried rice was ok. The spicy flavor is good but too spicy for me. I could only eat it by dipping the wings in ranch. I definitely plan on returning so I can try the pot stickers and chicken sandwich. I've also seen a few reviews with complaints about the wait time, no straws, lids etc but remember that they JUST opened. Give them a little grace. Check out Bonchon. The food was amazing. Come of the crispiest chicken I have ever had and the flavors were crazy. It's a newer place so it was packed when I went but they took my order and got it out fairly quick even though they were extremely busy.
