Korean is my favorite cuisine. I was delighted to find this wonderful restaurant. It's in a small strip mall, the exterior is not inviting. Ambiance inside was very comfortable, very clean. Service was professional. One thing I use to judge ethnic restaurants is how many people of that ethnicity are there. Of the several tables occupied I was the only nonasian diner, so I assume authenticity. I had seafood soft tofu stew. It was delicious. Korean restaurants typically serve banchan side dishes, this served them, each was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want to experience excellent Korean dining. I'll be back!

Everything was so good!! I was in Seoul last year and had the best Korean bbq so this was a great find for that craving. I definitely missed having the egg soufflé but there was so much on the table with the banchan, it didn't matter. The potato and pork belly can be skipped but we(2) ate everything on the combo D. It could have fed 3 people. I was worried because on a rainy Wednesday night we walked into an empty restaurant. By the time we were leaving, it was full. The meats were cooked for us at the table. Great service and the interior is nice. I think next time we would like to try the ribeye and a couple of other items instead of the preset menu. The bulgogi was delicious. I was skeptical of the first item that looked like it was rolled in a tube but it had a lot of great flavor.

I've always been told Hai Woon Day was the best Korean in Nashville, so I ordered a few things to try it out myself. I will say, compared to most asian places I've gotten via takeout, the portions were fairly small. Here's what I tried: -Galbi: 9/10 - I love Galbi so much, and once again, this was no exception. It didn't have too much fat on it compared to others I've had, and the flavor was great. -Japchae: 9/10 - Sticky, sweet, savory, a perfect noodle side dish. With beef and vegetables, it was so delicious. -Ttukbaegi Bulgogi (Bulgogi Stew): 9/10 - This made bulgogi that much better. The broth is infused with the sweetness of the sauce in the most perfect way. The soup is full of bulgogi, rice cakes, and veggies. Not op of rice, it made for a great dish. -Bulgogi: 8/10 - Classic bulgogi. I can't imagine it being much better than this, but it still gets an 8 because it's not my favorite Korean protein. What I didn't love was the Banchan. There was no kimchi, but instead, some soft spicy cucumbers, macaroni salad, and a few others I don't remember. I prefer when they give kimchi, potatoes, broccoli, and eggs in the banchan.

I've been coming to Hai Woon Dai for years, and they've remained consistently great. It's easily some of the most authentic and delicious Korean food you'll find in South Nashville. The staff is always welcoming and helpful--whether it's guiding you through the menu or helping at the grill, the service feels genuine. Prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous enough to leave you full every time. If you order KBBQ (minimum two meats), it comes with a solid spread of banchan and their corn cheese, which is always a favorite. I went to college in Los Angeles and, for years, hadn't found a Korean BBQ spot that reminded me of the places I used to visit--this one comes close. The space has a cozy, homey feel, especially with the family photos on the walls. It's the kind of place that keeps you coming back.

Came here with my friend for lunch and as always, the food is amazing! We ordered seafood soondubu, beef bowl, and tteokboki with cheese. So much food that we had to pack some to go.

Visited October 12, 2024. We were warmly greeted as we entered, and upon being seated, I noticed the updated menus and the announcement of extended weekend hours from 9 PM to 10 PM. We had two servers: a kind young gentleman who also doubled as food runner and a female server who was less attentive. Although she didn't acknowledge our thanks, she did check on us periodically, so it wasn't a major issue. Our table ordered four entrées, and each one was delicious! My only complaint was that the egg in the Dolsot Bibimbab was overcooked. I corrected this by simply taking it out and added another in from my soontofu soup. Aside from that, the presentation and flavor of all four dishes were delicious. The Galbi was the star tonight--savory, sweet, warm, and tender--definitely a 10/10! My daughter loved it. This hidden gem has been around for over a decade, located in Antioch off I-24 at Haywood Lane, exit 57. I've consistently enjoyed my meals here, but today felt almost like a five-star experience. I can't wait to return! There's also a shared free parking lot and gender-segregated restrooms for anyone wondering.

Nice neighborhood Korean restaurant. Good food and service. The galbi was a little in the sweet side but still yummy. The Kim h stew was very good.

I have been dining at Hai Woon Dai for the past 4 years. Never once have a bad experience. Food is always delicious. They have the best Tangsuyuk in Tennessee, 100/10! Bossam was delicious. I wish they served it with raw oysters. That would be amazing! Service is okay to be honest. Ahjumma was not in the mood to smile lol Table was clean and the atmosphere was cozy.

Cucumber salad, not our favorite. A little too much vinegar.

Korean BBQ Combo - made a reservation for 9 and had a long table with three grills. It ended up being $45/person after some drinks and 18% tip. Will definitely go back!

Don't let the modest exterior fool you, this place serves up the best Korean food in Nashville! They have an extensive menu of all the classics (bibimbap, soft tofu soup, barbecued meats like bulgogi and Galbi, stews for 2, Korean pancakes, you name it). Big portions and authentic taste. Their Banchan is also solid - love their potatoes. Comfy seating with booths and tables, and a back room for overflow seating. Food can sometimes be a little slow to come out if they're busy but it's worth it!

Recently went here to dine in, but they were closing soon so we ordered takeout. The host/server who took our order was very lovely and super helpful with guiding us through the menu and what the kitchen was still able to make that wouldn't take too long before they closed. As someone who loves kimchi stew, it was very standard and similar to most Korean spots so packed with flavor, and a solid choice. Banchan sides were fresh and plentiful. Everything was delicious and we had zero critiques. Definitely going back to dine in to have a full KBBQ experience.

I like coming with a group because if you order Japanese food, you get miso soup and a salad, but if you order Korean food, you get a ton of banchan delivered to your table. I like a bit of both, so having multiple people at my table increases my odds of sampling the whole menu. The bento boxes come with endless food: entree, generous portion of veggie and shrimp tempura, sushi roll, gyoza, rice and orange slice. Not to mention the miso soup and salad brought out before the box. My favorite is the dolsot bibimbap which comes out sizzling in a hot stone pot. This creates a crispy rice edge and keeps the dish hot the entire time you're eating. I always add a healthy amount of spicy gochujang sauce to my bowl to add warmth and depth of flavors. This makes it one of my ultimate comfort food dishes. We typically come here on a weeknight and are usually seared right away. The staff is always super welcoming and friendly.

Keep trying it until you find a pairing you like. My youngest loves the Ton Katsu. The quality of the meat is excellent and it's juicy on the inside but perfectly crunchy on the outside. My oldest daughter absolutely loves the Tuk Kuk. In her words - "it is simple, warm, and comforting. It is well seasoned with balanced flavors and has plenty of rice cakes, an egg, and beef. There isn't one single thing to complain about." DH ordered what has to be the best of the best all time soul soothing dishes. Kim Chi Ji Gae. We've never tried it before but are determined to try more menu items from Midori. My taste of it was met with an audible groan of nothing but pure comfort and bliss. Suffice it to say I couldn't decide what I liked more between my dish and his so we clattered chopsticks as we kept going back and forth between his and mine. The staff are so, so, so courteous and helpful and they love, love, love to see people eating their homemade food with gusto. They are especially tickled when they recommend something, see you try it, and can tell that you like it. While this is not required by any stretch, it is nice to eat in such a cozy atmosphere with such nice, helpful aunties and halmeonis.

The BBQ comes with pretty standard banchan (my favorites are the spicy pickled cucumbers and pickled daikon/carrot), 2 bowls of rice, and dipping sauces for each person in our group. The meat combos we ordered were good quality and the spicy bulgogi was so yummy. I will crave this bbq and will need to bring anybody and everybody who will enjoy this family style meal with me. 5 stars. The bibimbap was pretty standard, full of colorful veggies and a good portion of beef on top. I was a little disappointed that the rice never got crispy despite ordering it in a sizzling hot bowl. My favorite part about dolsap bibimbap is the crunch of the almost burnt rice, so if I hadn't been full from the bbq, I might have been slightly sad. I understand that's not how everybody prefers to eat this dish, though. The fun and flavor of the K BBQ as well as the attentive service earns this spot a 5 star in my book and we will be back again.

I had been to a Bonchon chain in California before, so I thought this would be a safe bet. I entered the restaurant with low expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised by the extensive menu. They now offer more than three flavors of fried chicken, including regular crunch, soy garlic, spicy, yangnyeom, and Korean BBQ. Here's what we ordered: * Large Drumsticks ($27.99): Half soy garlic, half spicy * Japchae ($15.99) We were disappointed to find that the tteokbokki was out at 6 pm, so we opted for japchae instead. The noodles were chewy, but they were overly salty and had a distinctly teriyaki flavor, with the sesame oil barely noticeable. The pickled radish was equally disappointing; it was quite bland and lacked any tartness. The spicy wing sauce, which they claim is their spiciest, was surprisingly mild as well. The service was decent and mostly self-service. You place your order at the front and receive a number to bring to your table. The food is delivered to your table, and when you're done, you dispose of your own trash and stack the trays. Drinks and utensils are available by the cashier. Overall, Bonchon was just OK. The chicken was alright, nothing special. For TN, I'd give it a 4 stars. If we were in ATL, it's a 3 for me.
