I can't believe this place hidden in a random corner of Antioch could be this amazing. This is the first time I felt like I was in Korean town of New York City. Amazing Korean food served by Korean aunties who are very nice. There was Korean music playing in the background, Polaroid photos on the wall of the restaurant and TV playing about streets of Korea. Food was stellar! Being a Korean food fan while I was in New York, I tend to have high expectations, and this is one of a few times that I've really felt satisfied with the authenticity of the ethnic/cultural food. The menu has a lot to choose from and each entrée came with side dishes. We got seafood, pancake, spicy pork and seafood noodle soup.. each dish with very sizable portion and price was very reasonable.
Korean is my favorite cuisine. I was delighted to find this wonderful restaurant. It's in a small strip mall, the exterior is not inviting. Ambiance inside was very comfortable, very clean. Service was professional. One thing I use to judge ethnic restaurants is how many people of that ethnicity are there. Of the several tables occupied I was the only nonasian diner, so I assume authenticity. I had seafood soft tofu stew. It was delicious. Korean restaurants typically serve banchan side dishes, this served them, each was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want to experience excellent Korean dining. I'll be back!
Everything was so good!! I was in Seoul last year and had the best Korean bbq so this was a great find for that craving. I definitely missed having the egg soufflé but there was so much on the table with the banchan, it didn't matter. The potato and pork belly can be skipped but we(2) ate everything on the combo D. It could have fed 3 people. I was worried because on a rainy Wednesday night we walked into an empty restaurant. By the time we were leaving, it was full. The meats were cooked for us at the table. Great service and the interior is nice. I think next time we would like to try the ribeye and a couple of other items instead of the preset menu. The bulgogi was delicious. I was skeptical of the first item that looked like it was rolled in a tube but it had a lot of great flavor.

I will say, compared to most asian places I've gotten via takeout, the portions were fairly small. Here's what I tried: -Galbi: 9/10 - I love Galbi so much, and once again, this was no exception. It didn't have too much fat on it compared to others I've had, and the flavor was great. -Japchae: 9/10 - Sticky, sweet, savory, a perfect noodle side dish. With beef and vegetables, it was so delicious. -Ttukbaegi Bulgogi (Bulgogi Stew): 9/10 - This made bulgogi that much better. The broth is infused with the sweetness of the sauce in the most perfect way. The soup is full of bulgogi, rice cakes, and veggies. Not op of rice, it made for a great dish. -Bulgogi: 8/10 - Classic bulgogi. I can't imagine it being much better than this, but it still gets an 8 because it's not my favorite Korean protein. What I didn't love was the Banchan. There was no kimchi, but instead, some soft spicy cucumbers, macaroni salad, and a few others I don't remember. I prefer when they give kimchi, potatoes, broccoli, and eggs in the banchan.
I've been coming to Hai Woon Dai for years, and they've remained consistently great. It's easily some of the most authentic and delicious Korean food you'll find in South Nashville. The staff is always welcoming and helpful--whether it's guiding you through the menu or helping at the grill, the service feels genuine. Prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous enough to leave you full every time. If you order KBBQ (minimum two meats), it comes with a solid spread of banchan and their corn cheese, which is always a favorite. I went to college in Los Angeles and, for years, hadn't found a Korean BBQ spot that reminded me of the places I used to visit--this one comes close. The space has a cozy, homey feel, especially with the family photos on the walls. It's the kind of place that keeps you coming back.
Came here with my friend for lunch and as always, the food is amazing! We ordered seafood soondubu, beef bowl, and tteokboki with cheese. So much food that we had to pack some to go.
We ordered the KBBQ package, and it's delicious! The meat was fresh & tasty, side dishes were good. Service was nice & fast. The lady came several times to prepare & cook the meat. The restaurant is pretty small, but convenient and not too noisy. We enjoyed our dinner there, recommended if you like Korean food!

Visited October 12, 2024. We were warmly greeted as we entered, and upon being seated, I noticed the updated menus and the announcement of extended weekend hours from 9 PM to 10 PM. We had two servers: a kind young gentleman who also doubled as food runner and a female server who was less attentive. Although she didn't acknowledge our thanks, she did check on us periodically, so it wasn't a major issue. Our table ordered four entrées, and each one was delicious! My only complaint was that the egg in the Dolsot Bibimbab was overcooked. I corrected this by simply taking it out and added another in from my soontofu soup. Aside from that, the presentation and flavor of all four dishes were delicious. The Galbi was the star tonight--savory, sweet, warm, and tender--definitely a 10/10! My daughter loved it. This hidden gem has been around for over a decade, located in Antioch off I-24 at Haywood Lane, exit 57. I've consistently enjoyed my meals here, but today felt almost like a five-star experience. I can't wait to return! There's also a shared free parking lot and gender-segregated restrooms for anyone wondering.
Nice neighborhood Korean restaurant. Good food and service. The galbi was a little in the sweet side but still yummy. The Kim h stew was very good.
I have been dining at Hai Woon Dai for the past 4 years. Never once have a bad experience. Food is always delicious. They have the best Tangsuyuk in Tennessee, 100/10! Bossam was delicious. I wish they served it with raw oysters. That would be amazing! Service is okay to be honest. Ahjumma was not in the mood to smile lol Table was clean and the atmosphere was cozy.

If you are looking for authentic and local korean food, please go here! They have a very sorted menu and everything tasted so good. The provide refillable side sides which are very tasty and the on table bbq experience is fun! The also have korean local wines and drinks which accompany well with the food. The ambience is basic but the food just compensates for it. read more

Strip mall location . Has lot parking . We had bbq combo and beef Mandu dumplings. As only two diners we opted for smallest combo . Don't let the modest exterior fool you, this place serves up the best Korean food in Nashville! They have an extensive menu of all the classics (bibimbap, soft tofu soup, barbecued meats like bulgogi and Galbi, stews for 2, Korean pancakes, you name it). Big portions and authentic taste. Their Banchan is also solid - love their potatoes. Comfy seating with booths and tables, and a back room for overflow seating. Food can sometimes be a little slow to come out if they're busy but it's worth it! read more

Recently went here to dine in, but they were closing soon so we ordered takeout. The host/server who took our order was very lovely and super helpful with guiding us through the menu and what the kitchen was still able to make that wouldn't take too long before they closed. As someone who loves kimchi stew, it was very standard and similar to most Korean spots so packed with flavor, and a solid choice. Banchan sides were fresh and plentiful. Everything was delicious and we had zero critiques. Definitely going back to dine in to have a full KBBQ experience. read more

Service was great. We all loved the food we ordered. The seafood pancake definitely needs the sauce that it comes with. I would've wanted more of the sauce given the size of the pancake. Shrimp tempura udon soup that my daughter ordered was amazing! The broth was delicious. And it's a huge portion! We went on a Saturday night right when they opened. Glad we did. read more

Super solid Korean in a city that lacks it in general. Very friendly staff and nice bowl of yukaejang (spicy beef soup). Wanted to try a Korean homestyle staple on my first visit. Probably a tiny bit overpriced but that's how things are here. I'll definitely be back though! read more

Got: Bulnak Jonga- bbq beef and octopus stew ($42), kimchi pancake ($19) Price: 7/10, on par with most Korean places. Not divey or cheap. Fair standard price. Value: 7/10 good portions. More value if there are 3-5 people in the group to eat family style. Sharing is caring :) Went with a coworker on a Friday night. The ambiance is casual but well put together. The tables around the perimeter of the room have kbbq griddles while the tables in the interior do not. Bulnak is a combination of the words "bulgogi"- BBQ beef and "nakji" = octopus. The jongal stew was flavorful with a slight sweetness. Seafoody, savory, and spicy. There was plenty of udon and beef. It was slightly lacking in octopus and the veggies - more would have been welcomed. The crown daisy veggie, for those who aren't familiar, is the leafy part of the chrysanthemum plant. It's slightly herbally with licorice notes. Banchan was options were meh. Macaroni salad, sweetened braised potatoes, etc are not my favorite options but I'm assuming they rotate based upon ingredient variability. The kimchi pancake was the best I've had. Crispy, craggly, slightly soft on the inside, crunchy veggies without an overwhelming kimchi taste. Scallions, zucchini, and kimchi laced the inside of the pancake, providing a structure for the batter to cling to. The batter was super crispy on the outside. Almost tasted like it was deep-fried. The pancake itself was red but didn't have a strong sour or fermented taste. The friendly waiter took our Polaroid picture and placed it on the wall. Attentive service and great food. Overall, would come back again with MORE people to try more options. Would get the jongal and pancake again but would add some bibimbap and KBBQ meat! read more

Hai woon dai is a gem. Everything on the menu is amazing and never disappoints. It's my favorite Korean spot in the Nashville area. Four of us went for dinner and ordered seafood pancake, spicy tofu soup, and kbbq combo D. Combo D fed four of us and we had some leftovers to take home. Although I've had kbbq that was marinated more, it was still tasty and enjoyable. read more

WHAT A MEAL. We stopped by Hai Woon Dai for takeout today and then stuffed our faces right outside the restaurant in our car (it's our new COVID thing), but it was too good not to eat hot and fresh (we live 40+ minutes away from the restaurant). We ordered online through Google via Postmates and got a confirmation text to let us know our order was confirmed and when it would be ready (with a link to check when the food was prepared and ready for pickup). The food was ready so fast - 15-20 minutes! And everything was delicious. We started with the Galbi mandu (A2: steamed dumpling), which were juicy and flavorful and delicious. We also tried the Teokboki (E22: spicy stir-fried rice cakes), which was a little (but not too) spicy and also delicious. After that, it was the Jjanjangmyun (N3: Korean-style Chinese noodle dish with black bean sauce), which was crazy delicious - so comforting. And we had to try their Galbi (B1: marinated beef short ribs), which were - you guessed it - delicious! We didn't in because of COVID (my vaccine appointment is right around the corner finally though), but my husband who ran in for the food said it was really charming inside! We'd happily eat in after we're both vaccinated (he's an MD that was vaccinated back in December). This was a great meal. I loved every bite. We visited Hai Woon Dai, because it was on my LIST (a sort of Nashville bucket list of things to do and restaurants to eat at before we leave Nashville in June of this year), and now I'm so sad we didn't eat at Hai Woon Dai sooner. We used to live in South Nashville, and Hai Woon Dai isn't that far. But we enjoyed our meal so much I'm sure we'll eat it again on a visit back to Nashville in the future when we're no longer residents! DELICIOUS. Whether you love Korean food or are just starting to learn about and enjoy it, Hai Woon Dai is well worth a visit! Based on our first visit and all the food we tried, you can't go wrong! read more
