The difference in size of wings
Tuyen P.

Located conveniently in dinky town where students can have easy access to some crispy chicken. Used to crave it when it was not in town but now that it's everywhere... you tend not to crave so much unless on a rainy day. My first ever impression of Bonchon is the crispiness and crunchiness of the batter. One of a kind. The soy flavor is salty which goes well with white rice. The spicy flavor... it's spicy band also goes well with rice. When Bonchon first opened, loved the big size of the drums and wings which makes it worth the price. Now, the size are inconsistent. They should be the same size. Inflation can make the quality go down a lot. Now the portion Vs. Price isn't worth it as much. Still love the taste, so maybe on some rainy days.

Every time I come here, the food is phenomenal. All you need to do is order appetizers so you can have multiple things to eat from the food is so delicious.

Basically Bonchon is the only place you could get Korean Fried Chicken in the Twin Cities and I was pretty excited when it opened. Now I believe there are 3 Bonchon locations in MN, Dinkytown (here), Uptown and at the Mall of America. For me, the fried chicken at this location is 4/5 if you get the drumsticks or boneless wings with the spicy sauce (which btw in my opinion is not spicy, and I love spicy food). Everything else on the menu I would recommend you to go somewhere else and is mediocre. Due to covid and wanting to have my Korean fried chicken with some beer at home, I've only done take out a couple of times so I can't say much on the service. It is a franchise and I've been to other locations that I like more but overall they're all pretty much the same or very similar.

The best French fried. Friend Chicken is tasty! Will be back soon. The inside is spacious, clean, well designed. Stuff is friendly. Food is served quickly. Price is reasonable.

I've been to Bonchon so many times in different places but this location is the WORST. Our chicken wings barely had sauces and the sever was very rude. We had to ask him for drink refills and he was not nice at all when he was responding. Server was also touching a dog and then serving foods without cleaning in the store. Also, we had to wait so long to get our bills because the server was busy talking with his friends. Not only that food was bad, but the service was also horrible. Waste of money, worst experience so far.

First time to this place, the food is as good as I expected. The spicy chicken is hot. And the BBQ is mild. Loved both. We will do this again.. as should you

I'm not a huge fan of fried chicken but Bonchon definitely had super crispy skin! It was cooked well, still juicy. I don't eat much of the skin, but that's definitely where all the flavor is. I recommend spicy over the soy garlic. The spicy is more of a mild, but I enjoyed the flavor more. The chicken comes with one side which was either radish or something else. The rice cakes came with some fish cakes which was fine. I didn't try the baos but it looked a bit thin with a lot of slaw at ~$9. It's located in Dinkytown next to the super busy Insomnia and some pub. So you may have to circle around a few times for street parking or park further away. During COVID, the restaurant is currently social distancing, staff wearing mask and one was wearing gloves. There was only one waitress/hostess and everyone else was kitchen staff. It was pretty busy because they have so many to go orders, but she was attentive and friendly! They are only like six tables so I guess limited capacity is enforced.

Just get the darn wangs with soy/garlic sauce. You won't be disappointed. Eat, pray and eat again.

So glad I stopped in! I did not expect the atmosphere from the outside appearance, but it's oddly nice inside. Honestly the menu looked soo good and I'm sad I stopped in for a short, light lunch. Two of us split the tacos and salmon avo ball - both good! I would probably prefer a different type of tortilla for the tacos, something that suits the Korean flavors better, but I loved the sweet spicy flavoring. The salmon avo ball was delicious, but a bit rich for a full meal. I'll definitely be stopping back in for a happy hour during the week and to try the wings.

AYCE for Korean BBQ and sushi for $49 and definitely worth it in my opinion!…read more Walked in without a reservation on a Saturday evening. Plenty of tables available and lots of parking on the street. The place was pretty full by the time we left. The restaurant is huge with a good ambiance. Clean and not too loud. Bathrooms are a small journey to get to. They are shared bathrooms and on the lower level. Staff were attentive and kind. There was a call button on our table, but we never needed it. If you opt for AYCE, you mark your choices on a sheet of paper. You're given some marinated tofu, broccoli, tofu, kimchi, sprouts, greens to begin with. We ordered beef bulgogi, spicy pork, pork belly, and brisket. I probably could have done without the brisket or pork belly. Brisket dried out super fast and the pork belly was a little too fatty. Also ordered gyoza, fried rice, black bean noodles, seaweed salad, and a shrimp tempura roll. All were delicious, but we ended up with far too much food for just two people. At the end we were given ice cream. It was individually wrapped so we took it to go since we were so full. I'd definitely return again in the future!

I have had Korean BBQ here before as well and honestly I thought it was pretty decent. I ordered the bibimbap and it was very sloppily made with not enough ingredients. I used a good amount of gochujang for flavor which was normal but even the vegetables included in the original bowl were very plain. The japchae was pretty good as the vermicelli noodles were very flavorful. I would've preferred to see some more bell pepper pieces in it, though. My partner got the salmon roe nigiri, the agedashi tofu, and the soft tofu stew. They thought those dishes were pretty good. The agedashi tofu specifically, however, was a bit too soft in terms of its outer skin. I don't think this establishment would be one that I'd choose to visit if I am to bring friends to either Korean or Japanese food places in the Twin Cities, and it seems like others agree according to their reviews.

All of the dishes we tried were great. For appetizers, we had mandu, a scallion pancake, tteokbokki, and tempura veggies. All of the portions were HUGE, and everything tasted great (especially the pancake, it's a MUST ORDER dish!). We also got spicy pork and beef bulgogi to BBQ. Both of those portions were also huge, and tasted amazing. Everything about the grill worked well, and the ventilation was great (we didn't smell like BBQ at all after). They have one type of Korean beer on tap (which is basically all you can get in Minnesota). The service was pretty quick and friendly. The restaurant was very clean (they spent a lot of time cleaning each place setting after guests left their tables), and the bathrooms were good too. Do keep in mind, many of the streets around here are torn up for construction over the summer, so allow lots of extra time, and plan to park in one of the two nearby garages as there is almost no street parking.

Lots of door dash pickups. We ordered the spicy beef noodle soup, beef chow fun, and their sticky rice pork dumplings. JUN was close to being very bad. Everything at JUN was a salt bomb, but the fried tofu was the worst. It felt like I was dropping salt cubes down my gullet. We adore dumplings. In fact, in winter, I often resemble a dumpling, but the dumplings at JUN were mushy, tasteless, and salty. Fried beef was tougher than horsehide. The best dish was fried rice, but that wasn't memorable. The rent for JUN must be sky-high. I don't know how they can afford it. The North Loop deserves a great Chinese restaurant. Jade Dynasty, move down here. Until they do, we'll have to drive to Uptown for Chinese dining, but no take-out in winter. That makes me sad too. JUN's food didn't taste good.
