My family always eats here when its a non cooking night. We get the half and half wing "tenders" which are to die for! The spicy is exactly what it states, spicy. Then the soy garlic is great to mellow out your burning taste buds after that extremity. And dont forget those parmesean fries, legit! Plus they have enough seating spaces unlike uhhmm, hudadack(?). Purely on service - simply bad. Had to leave after standing around for 10-15 mins with no acknowledgement even though staff would see us. They were busy but not busy enough to have such bad service. I go to this place at least two times a week and I've never had any issues when I order the fried rice but today they totally screwed my order up, I ordered the fried rice with chicken shrimp and scallops and they gave me the seafood fried rice with scallops shrimp octopus and that's not what I ordered so the manager got pissed off because they had to redo my order and they would not even compensate me or take half off of my order they just apologized when they bought my other price out and it only had two shrimps in it and said that it's done by weight but anytime that I get rice from there I have more than two shrimp in my rice and today was a disappointment,I will be most and least I can my business elsewhere they will not get any of my business and I will let everyone know not to eat there because they have poor service and do not treat their customers right when they messed up my order read more

Sat and waited 7mins before anyone came to my table. The hostest eventually came over and asked "has anyone served you yet?" i was near walking out but finally someone took my order. Did not receive any napkins or silverware. I had to go to the bar and get coaster size napkins. Then got no lemon with water & tea. Had to go to the bar and request that also. The food did come out fast but i didnt find that it tasted all that. Had legs & strips. The legs are big and the garlic sauce taste good. But i really dont think its all that special. A piece of the chicken was kind of under cooked. Then at the end the waiter all of a sudden became over attentive. He actually asked multiple times to take our food away while we were still eatting. It was just a horrible experience. I also dont understand what is Korean about the fried chicken. It was just flour dusted fried chicken with an asian sauce. Probably the worst experience I've had at a restaurant. I was seated and I ordered my food and I think I sat there for at least an hour until my food finally came. I noticed people who sat down after I was seated got their food within 20 min and they had ordered the same dish I ordered. The waitress that I had was not attentive. I only saw her when I ordered and after I finished my food. I had to ask the other wait staff what was happening with my food. The food was alright. We tried this place for the first time last Saturday and it was fantastic. I had the 5 soy garlic drumsticks and my husband and the wings. The spicy was just too spicy for us. They got my order wrong but it was close so I told them it was ok. The manager came over to our table, apologized and said I can keep the wrong order and enjoy for no charge. This is 1st Class service!! The waiter was outstanding and we will definitely be back often. The fries are incredible. I wish they offered desserts but we can't have everything we want. I've been to Bonchon at another location and the food was good. So I was happy to see that one opened in Katy. I placed an order over the phone(~30pieces of chicken) and the employee told me it would take 25-30min. I thought that was pretty long for an order of fried chicken but it really didn't bother me. I got there 30min after I made the order and the all the workers seemed helpful at first. I was asked 3 times if I'd been helped(including the manager) and they all said they'd check on my order. 10min passed and order was still not ready. So I ask the manager how much longer it would be and he says "couple minutes". So I wait and order a beer. Tastes stale. After another 10min, order still wasn't out so I asked the manager again and he says 'couple minutes".. And again after 10 more minutes I had to ask the manager again and he says "it should be out in a couple of seconds"... But of course the order still didn't come out and when he returned he said it would be a few more minutes and "sorry, it's not usually like this"........ At this point, more than an hour had passed since I called in to make the order and all this manager could say is it's not usually like this.. Even if they forgot about the order and started making the order when I walked in it should have taken that long. I got tired of waiting and family was at home waiting for dinner so I just left. Ended up eating leftover pizza.. should have just done that from the start. I will never go here again. I've talked to other people that have gone there and they say the same thing. Bonchon was fairly okay. Was it the best Korean chicken in Katy? Definitely no. Would I go there again? No. The wait for the table was okay, but the tables and seats were dirty. Ordering the food was alright, but the wait on the food... Was horrendous. The udon especially was taking forever was it worth ordering? No. It was the worst out of all the food we ordered. The noodles in the soup tasted like packaged under-cooked flour based noodles. The soup had no taste what-so- ever. Enough about the udon. The japchae was alright it was a bit salty for my liking, but the bulgogi (meat) inside the japchae had a weird texture like left over grease on last night's steak. Now the shrimp fried rice coming along. Thinking what can go wrong. Yeah well the shrimp tasted like it was frozen for months, had a fake seafood taste to it. The calamari especially had a texture of soft rubber and the scallops was definitely fake or frozen. The texture should be a soft and tender but no it was rough and rubber like. Squid was okay but it had the same fake seafood taste. The egg tasted a bit funky. What can go wrong with cucumbers in fried rice right? No the taste was just horrendous and did not combine well. The rice wasn't stir fried throughly. Now next, the main point in Bonchon is their chicken. They only have 2 flavors :spicy or garlic definitely got half and half. They taste a bit similar just the other didn't have the garlic taste. They were spicy ,but not too spicy. The texture of the chicken was okay but it was way too crispy. Assume it was fried for a long time . The crunch of the chicken was very crispy, but trying to tear off the chicken was a workout for my teeth. So i gave up. But after eating my chicken my waitress finally served us our plates and forks. Awe how thoughtful. You know just bring it now when we just finished eating. Now thought this was over? No . I've noticed in every thing we ate had a distinctive soy sauce taste. Yes i like soy sauce , but do i like it in everything that i ate? No. Now for the drinks. We just went with water, but again it tasted like dishwater. Now my waitress was just horrible. Calling for the check took her 500 years (more like 10-15 mins).She came with the check, but placed it on top of the table without the book making the check absorb the water droplets. Before i end this let me talk about the bathroom. It was clean, but going to the sink it was a pool of water and soap now now, the towels weren't even inserted into the dispensers. Thinking it seems not bad right? Yeah wrong the workers were in there and did nothing. Guess because they were busy and packed today. If you're up for a disappointment with high expectations come here. If you don't want explosive diarrhea just don't step foot inside here. Thanks for taking your time to read this. read more

The chicken was mediocre but... The service was donkey crap. I never got refills on time, I always had to call the waiter over. The table spacing within the facility was too tight and was not managed well enough. I also heard the manager yelling at someone and I don't think that's a good way for constructive criticism. I've been wanting to try this place for a while thinking it was going to be really good. Eh, not to bad a but overpriced for the quality. $13 for a small (10 pc) wings and your only options for flavors is hot or soy garlic... The hot has good flavor but was too spicy I couldn't even enjoy the food, I'm Korean and can tolerate a lot of spicy but that was crazy, even my mother who can eat fresh jalapeno peppers like nothing said it was too hot. I also got an order of japchae which was $14 and it was alright. A bit too much meat which is why they probably jack up the price and a bit saucy for my taste. All in all I wouldn't go back unless one of my friends really wanted to try it. read more

Been here for lunch on the weekend and evening during the week. We've tried the chicken as well as a number of entrees. The food is all good and I especially like the daikon pickles. The service was a bit slow on the weekends but the crowd is also considerably bigger. Definitely recommend but be patient on the weekends. read more

I have come here multiple times over the last couple months and the chicken has remained delicious. The breading is just right, and while I usually stick to soy garlic, the spicy version is perfect alongside some ranch for when you crave some more intense flavor. I recommend sticking to ordering mostly chicken, as while the other plates are excellent, the chicken is always the star of the meal, although I must give an honorable mention to the pot stickers. Be sure to also ask your server for soy sauce or sriracha, they definitely complement many of the dishes. read more

I was waiting for this store to open as my experience on them in other country was so good. Alas, that was not the case. Looks like the chicken was separately fried and teh sauce was poured into it, making the meat dry & tasteless. Whereas in other country they marinated the chicken prior to frying making the taste deep inside it. A further review will take place since yesterday was opening day and they where ready for prime time so first visit turn into a fiasco. My wife and I got there at about 6:30pm, we got a polite welcome from the hostess and were told there was a 20 minute wait. We did see several tables were empty which should have been the clue of how terrible the service was going to be. At the bar we were able to order a glass of Chardonnay and a Diet Coke which were served promptly. Bar had about 8 patrons at the time.Restaurant had 4 or 5 tables empty, other wise it was full. We were seated in about 10 minutes and hoped things would move along. After about 8 minutes a waiter showed up and gave us menus, added to check drinks that we brought from the bar to tab and promptly disappeared. Korean family of 8 sitting next to us told us to be prepared to wait, we just did not know for how long. Over 20 minutes of sitting waiter took our order. My wife ordered the BIBIMBAP with Bulgogi and I ordered the JAPCHAE, a side order of steamed rice and an order of kimchi slaw. 45 minutes into the ordeal the BIBIMBAP arrived minus the bulgogi(beef), a young Korean girl sitting next to us explained to us that the side sauce had to be poured onto the ingredients to flavor them. 20 minutes later, and hour after ordering our food the kimchi slaw finally arrived. Waiter said 5 more minutes for the JAPCHAE. 10 minutes later no JAPCHAE. At this point I asked for the bill which would not arrive so I headed for the bar and told the bartender I would like to pay. A lady standing there, I presume the MGR. asked how the food was, I replied I couldn't really tell because we never got everything we ordered. Told her my wife liked her food even tough it arrive without the beef. Kimchi was so-so and of course the JAPCHAE, who knows. After some scrambling for the order we were billed $14.02 way below the cost of the drinks(glass of wine, diet coke,orange juice) and part of the food we got. All together it took almost one and half hours for what we got. Place looks, very modern, done in red, white and black. Seating is comfortable enough. Pricing somewhat expensive for some items ($13.95 for fried Calamari?) as an example. Hopefully in a few weeks they will get their stuff ironed out. We will give them another try then and see how good they really are or aren't. Until then a 1 star review. read more

We came here for dinner and order the 20 pieces wings with the soy garlic sauce and an order of Japchae. We all felt the amount of Japchae was simply too little for the price of $14. The Japchae was fairly decent, but not enough noodle, which were way too over cooked, and too much veggies and beef. The ratio between the Japchae to veggies to meat, one to two to one. The flavor was good, but simply put, not enough and overpriced. The 20 piece wings also came with drumetts, which flavor wise was very good. The chicken had no other marinade other than the skin, but that was expected. The chicken was crispy, but border line warm. The presentation of both dishes were lacking and DEFINITELY needed to be brought out sooner. We waited 20-25 min for the chicken, which should take at max 15 min. The Japchae came out after we were nearly completely done eating our chicken. For the quality and quantity of food, it simply took too long. We seemed very surprised they only offered two flavors and one half and half. I am a Koreaboo, and I know in Korea they offer not only whole chicken, but also many different flavors of chicken. For a specialty, they ought to have whole chicken and AT LEAST 3-4 flavors of chicken if wished to be claimed Korean Fried Chicken. Food summed up, took way too long, and no "wow" factor. Now, onto service and atmosphere. I honestly could write a whole speech on service alone. We had sat down at the table for about 5 minutes and a lady said she wasn't our server, but she was going to take our drink orders. It took another 10 minutes before our server came out with drinks. When looking at the table next to us, they had nice clear glasses and some small plates laid out. On our table, there were red glasses and no plates. Literally every other table in the restaurant had clear glasses and straws while we were left having to ask. She was obviously a new waitress, but we do not blame her at all. Whoever is in charge of instructing and training new waiters/ waitresses had not properly done their job, leading to unsatisfied customers: us. The owner/ manger stopped by at our table twice to check on how things were going, yet never apologized for the long service. Atmosphere wise the restaurant was great, modern and sleek, and four TVs. The one major complaint about atmosphere from us is the music and TVs clashing. Our table was very close to a TV, but they had not muted the TV or put subtitles. They also had KPop (YAYAYAYAY) playing over speakers. The clashing of sounds were very disturbing and quite unpleasant. read more

I went here for a late lunch with my dad and was so glad we stopped by. Our waitress was so sweet and the restaurant looked well kept and clean. Of course we had to try the fried chicken, so we ordered 10 (soy garlic) wings, as well as the octopus dumplings. This fried chicken was so different from any fried chicken I've ever had, and it was amazing! I found myself so lost in this chicken that it took me a moment to realize I must have been eating like a caveman... no, I'm not exaggerating. In case you're wondering why their chicken is different, they double fry it and it's not slathered in sauces/rubs. It's so crispy, and the amazing thing is that there's hardly any breading (what you're eating is actually the chicken, not caked on batter). The octopus dumplings were good, not incredible like the chicken, but I was still very satisfied. They have really nice flavor and the presentation is lovely, however the texture is a little iffy for me. But as far as the chicken goes you should definitely try it! I can't wait to go back for that heavenly chicken and try more off the menu! read more

Came by in the afternoon around 3pm. Service was okay since there was not a lot of customers at that time. However, i am so disappointed with my order. The chicken i ordered was not that hot and not crispy at all, seemed it was just reheated and it came out in less than 10mins. Far cry from the other bonchon restaurants i have been to in Virginia and Maryland where you get your order fresh and cooked to order. Skeptic about coming back. My girlfriend and I decided to stop in this Friday at around 4 pm. There was no one in the restaurant and we were seated immediately which was nice. We looked through the menu as our server Daniela got us our drinks. I ordered the chicken fried rice and my girlfriend ordered the chicken katsu. My fried rice was ok, nothing to write home about but it was not terrible. The katsu was a chicken breast with a mixture of sauce on top that drenched the entire breast. And it tasted exactly like McDonalds honey mustard ... gross. After finishing our meal and asking for the check we waited for 30 min while our waitress to pick the check up. At this point there was one other family in the restaurant. Our waitress had several conversations with everyone else and was on her phone several times. She finally came over to get our check and I told her to use all of the money I had on a visa gift card and the rest onto my debit card. She came back and said that the gift card had actually covered the entire total. But in all actuality she just charged it all to my debit card. We will not be returning to Bonchon. read more
