The food tastes good and I've been here a couple of times now but there drink options are not very good. Excellent food! Mild garlic and soy sauce, or spicy sauces. I wish I had taken a pic when it came out, but all that is left are some bones :). We also ate the chicken friend rice (yum!), popcorn chicken, and a new to us dish "Japchae" (glass noodles, red peppers, carrots, spinach, mushrooms and thinly sliced marinated beef flavored with Bonchon soy garlic sauce and stir-fried with sesame oil), also yum!!! Complimentary pickled radishes to cut down on the spice if necessary, but super yummy alone!! This place is legit if you want a real taste of Korea. read more

Came in to try their korean fried chicken and ended up waiting almost 10 minutes before the waitress decided to acknowledge me; mind you I sat right next to her while she sat on her phone (eye roll). Then she stopped at my table and asked if I had been helped as though I just magically appeared. I placed my order which included the original fried wings (10pc), seasoned fries (parm fries), and their special for the night : prickly pear margaritas or mojito. Getywthe food was another 20 min or so. The place was pretty empty & slow for a Friday night, but I could imagine why. When the waitress brought my drink (which she made), I didn't recall her asking if I wanted salt or sugar on the rim - so it came with salt. I don't ever request salt on mine, but in this case it actually tasted pretty good. If that wasn't enough I started hearing her co-workers warn her of her boyfriend doing donuts in the parking lot - like maybe he had left drunk. Seriously? Honestly, she seemed like she could've been under the influence herself. Luckily I had my drink to sip on to take my mind off the foolishness. Zing! Yes you need to eat at Bonchon I am sure you will enjoy it. This restaurant has its roots in Korea and much of the menu is in line with that tradition today. I can't pass this Katy location without thinking I want to have more of their fried drumsticks! But other dishes ooh their menu have been more amazing. I have had (excuse my poor spelling) the Bull Dak, Bibimbap and the Bulgogi. All wonderful. The restaurant offers takeout and delivery but I rather eat in. Inside the restaurant the deco is modern with contemporary rock playing at an easy volume and two TV sets playing sports channels. It is best if you come with a group to order plates to share. Bon Chon has been my wife's and I favorite for a while now, mainly because of the spice level in the spicy sauce. The recipe for the spicy sauce has changed and not as good as before. Today we wanted to give bon chon another chance since we are were long time fans, but we were really taken back by the customer service upon entry. It's understandable when the kitchen might be behind and there might be some wait time but there wasn't a "hello", "hi", or "welcome in". We entered and welcomed with a "it's going to be a twenty minute wait", like I mentioned before, it would have been better if customer service was better. It's a little pricy for what it is, although the chicken portions were huge and it was delicious and prepared well. We've been to a couple of different Bonchon locations. Our pickiest eater absolutely loves the strips here. However, much to our disappointment, it looks like they have changed the recipe for the chicken strips. They are no longer the thin, Korean style strips that we had grown to love. It's been a while since my last visit. The menu has expanded quite a bit. I stuck with my hot/garlic soy wings I passed in their new flavor. Still darn good. But, here's where Bouchon begins to break down. My wife asked for a glass of sake. They only serve cold sake. Then, our waitress showed she wasn't properly trained when she said we could only order sake by the bottle or by a "flight". Another waitress supported the information. Later, the bartender said he could have easily made a double shot of sake and serve as a single order. The next breakdown was my ice tea. I asked for unsweetened and was served sweetened. It was cheerfully replaced. Only the second time the waitress didn't bother with lemon. Most items in the menu are served with wheat wraps, white rice or fried rice. Most dishes give you the option of adding chicken or shrimp. Again. All deep fried. My wife settled for a salmon ball and asked for the kitchen to skip the spicy mayo. Ends up, that's the "glue" that holds the ball together. The waitress might have mentioned that. We ended up with diced cucumber and tomatoes covered with a piece of fish. My wings were as good as I remember, but the Cole slaw was rather unique. It seemed to be shredded cabbage and carrots, but no mayo or vinegar to give it any flavor. A final thought. We asked for low sodium soy sauce. Not available. How can this be? So, you're trying to get a healthy meal, look elsewhere. If you're ok with fried food, Bouchon is still a winner. read more

Comparing the service, San Gabriel's was a lot better and the staff were a lot more welcoming. In terms of flavor/food, the one in San Gabriel is also better. I ordered the Soy Garlic wings and they really skimped out on the sauce. There were only a few wings that were semi-covered in sauce, but the rest were left plain. Honestly if you have never tried Korean food, this is where want to start. Literally delicious. I lived this place in Atlanta and I am SO happy they are opening a location in midtown. The chicken is delicious. If you don't want to commit to just chicken then I just you order a side of wings instead of drumsticks. The wings are crispy and great quality. I wouldn't suggest plain, but all the flavors are great. I personally love the tteobokki here. I waist there's had a heavier tomato base, but still delicious. I don't know the authenticity because I am new to Korean food and culture but I love the mic of spicy and cheesy. They have a pretty good happy hour, but what makes me happy is that they do $5 goblet drinks all day everyday. My husband, 18 month son, and I came in around one on a Saturday afternoon and we're immediately sat. They had plenty of high chairs, which was good since there were a lot of little kiddos here. They do have a version of a Koala Kare changing table in the womens bathroom, but it is inside the handicap stall. The chicken is supposed to take about 30 min to cook, so be sure to order apps if you are starving. Their seasoned fries are delicious! I love spicy food but I prefer their soy garlic chicken over the spicy version. Drumsticks are fun, but are huge. Wings are easier to eat, in my opinion. They didn't take the full 30 min to come out. Maybe 15 to 20 min? They do not have a dedicated kids menu but there are options for kids to eat, like sliders or fried rice. They have mochi ice cream and it is very good. Everything was very delightful. Pot stickers are on the crispy side (which you can see in pictures) but flavor was still really good and they weren't TOO CRISPY. On today's episode of BOUJEE or BOOTY: My family frequents Bonchon because my mom absolutely looooves their food. We get the Family Meal deal which is a great deal for the price. It comes with enough food to feed our family of 4. However, we have been noticing a quality decrease and today's visit is probably the last straw. We ordered for curbside pickup and were given an estimate of 20 mins, which is the usual time. We show up to get our food and the employee brings out one bag of food. I go to check the bag and there is sauce everywhere. Both containers were seeping sauce and the entire bottom of the bag was soaking with the sauce. Not to mention we were missing the entire second half of our order. So we ask her and she brings out the second bag. We didn't really mind that she forgot it at first cus it seemed busy and it's not a big deal. We still had high hopes for the food. However, it was very disappointing. The fries were stale, and MULTIPLE pieces of chicken were undercooked to where there was bright red blood oozing from one of the drum sticks (pictures added). It was very unappetizing. The fried rice was the only edible thing out of everything we got. So all in all, it was a terrible experience and I would NOT recommend, unless you like eating raw chicken...? I've been going here for a couple years. As time goes on it seems the quality has gotten worse. The chicken and the French fries are good. My original favorites the hot potstickers and the pork buns have gone down hill. The pot stickers today tasted like they used tortilla shells as opposed to the original pot sticker wrappers. I usually go the midtown location and I absolutely love it , was in the Katy area for my husband' bday and we decided to stop by and I should of seen the red flag when we walked in and the restaurant was completely empty and staff was all sitting down in one table just chilling. We sat ourselves down and ordered since we already knew what we wanted . We got an order of the 20pcs wings , the seafood fried rice and the 10pc tenders . When the food arrived we automatically saw the difference in the wings . They look like regular wings and they were small . They did not look double fried and the tenders look so underwhelming. We tried the food the seafood rice was absolutely flavorless the wings were so soggy and felt undercooked the tenders barely had any sauce. Our waitress barely came in and checked on us .
