Bon Chon has been my wife's and I favorite for a while now, mainly because of the spice level in the spicy sauce. The recipe for the spicy sauce has changed and not as good as before. Today we wanted to give bon chon another chance since we are were long time fans, but we were really taken back by the customer service upon entry. It's understandable when the kitchen might be behind and there might be some wait time but there wasn't a "hello", "hi", or "welcome in". We entered and welcomed with a "it's going to be a twenty minute wait", like I mentioned before, it would have been better if customer service was better. First impression was horrible upon entering and we didn't want to entertain the rest of the visit so we had to leave to take our business somewhere else. read more

I came to pick up my online order which was apparently never placed because their iPad was down. So I had to wait 25 mins. When i got home, I checked my order, they didn't include any pickled radish. The wings were super super tiny, smaller then wing stop. The flavors were good but the wings overall was not good. There was no batter on the wings so it definitely did NOT taste like it was double fried. Taste like ordinary normal wings like wingstop. I was super disappointed because when I go to the Bonchon in located in downtown, the wings are 10x better. They are much larger and they are cooked correctly. We stopped by bonchon for the first time in Katy, Tx. The service was phenomenal they were quick and kind. My son ordered the chicken wings two flavors: Korean bbq and spicy. I give it a 2.5/5 star, but 3 cuz I can't give 1/2 stars. I've only ever been to two bonchon's (one in San Gabriel, CA and this one). Comparing the service, San Gabriel's was a lot better and the staff were a lot more welcoming. In terms of flavor/food, the one in San Gabriel is also better. I ordered the Soy Garlic wings and they really skimped out on the sauce. There were only a few wings that were semi-covered in sauce, but the rest were left plain. Beware! Drove up at 10:11pm and there were no customers... I called from the car beforehand to make sure they were still open (Google said they close at 10:30pm?) Vanessa (supposedly the one in charge) said they will only take "to go orders"... we said no problem and waited! We planned to eat in the car and proceeded to open the chicken... ice cold... like it was fried an hour ago... then we open the "street corn," and it's also cold? We returned to give it all back and get our refund! Three servers stood around as I explained how frustrated I am to give them business and they couldn't care enough to serve quality food? Then, a disheveled, belligerent old man enters from the back and confronts me in a very hostile way! The servers say they are not responsible because they only serve? I asked the old man if he was the cook? He yelled that he wasn't the cook, and he then pushed forward and got right in my face to intimidate me... I stood my ground staring right back at him, and he eventually backed away... crazy, crazy business practices! Times are tough, and businesses like this need to just close down. Came in to try their korean fried chicken and ended up waiting almost 10 minutes before the waitress decided to acknowledge me; mind you I sat right next to her while she sat on her phone (eye roll). Then she stopped at my table and asked if I had been helped as though I just magically appeared. Getywthe food was another 20 min or so. The place was pretty empty & slow for a Friday night, but I could imagine why. When the waitress brought my drink (which she made), I didn't recall her asking if I wanted salt or sugar on the rim - so it came with salt. I don't ever request salt on mine, but in this case it actually tasted pretty good. If that wasn't enough I started hearing her co-workers warn her of her boyfriend doing donuts in the parking lot - like maybe he had left drunk. Seriously? I ordered via Uber eats that said my order was ready when I'm fact I still had to wait another 10 mins to get it even though it was completely dead. We've been to a couple of different Bonchon locations. Our pickiest eater absolutely loves the strips here. However, much to our disappointment, it looks like they have changed the recipe for the chicken strips. They are no longer the thin, Korean style strips that we had grown to love. I usually go the midtown location and I absolutely love it , was in the Katy area for my husband' bday and we decided to stop by and I should of seen the red flag when we walked in and the restaurant was completely empty and staff was all sitting down in one table just chilling. When the food arrived we automatically saw the difference in the wings . They look like regular wings and they were small . They did not look double fried and the tenders look so underwhelming. It's been a while since my last visit. The menu has expanded quite a bit. I stuck with my hot/garlic soy wings I passed in their new flavor. Still darn good. But, here's where Bouchon begins to break down. My wife asked for a glass of sake. They only serve cold sake. Then, our waitress showed she wasn't properly trained when she said we could only order sake by the bottle or by a "flight". Another waitress supported the information. Later, the bartender said he could have easily made a double shot of sake and serve as a single order. The next breakdown was my ice tea. I asked for unsweetened and was served sweetened. It was cheerfully replaced. Only the second time the waitress didn't bother with lemon. Most items in the menu are served with wheat wraps, white rice or fried rice. Most dishes give you the option of adding chicken or shrimp. Again. All deep fried. My wife settled for a salmon ball and asked for the kitchen to skip the spicy mayo. Ends up, that's the "glue" that holds the ball together. The waitress might have mentioned that. We ended up with diced cucumber and tomatoes covered with a piece of fish. My wings were as good as I remember, but the Cole slaw was rather unique. It seemed to be shredded cabbage and carrots, but no mayo or vinegar to give it any flavor. A final thought. We asked for low sodium soy sauce. Not available. How can this be? So, you're trying to get a healthy meal, look elsewhere. If you're ok with fried food, Bouchon is still a winner. read more

Probably one of the worst experiences I've had from a restaurant. I'm not really that critical coming from a customer service background. If you make a mistake I'm forgiving as long as it's corrected in a timely manner. Made it a point to order online to make sure there were no errors while proceeding in making the order. Told them and they attempted to fix it. 1 hr later I check with the waitress on the status of the remade order, they forgot about me (keep in mind only 2 customers were dining and I was the only to go order). Told them to just forget it and just credit back my card. Had to sit there and listen to a customer flirt with an employee at the bar while I was forgotten waiting for my order. The waiting staff had 5 employees, maybe 3 new hires, 1 manager, 1 tenured employee. My husband, 18 month son, and I came in around one on a Saturday afternoon and we're immediately sat. They had plenty of high chairs, which was good since there were a lot of little kiddos here. They do have a version of a Koala Kare changing table in the womens bathroom, but it is inside the handicap stall. The chicken is supposed to take about 30 min to cook, so be sure to order apps if you are starving. Their seasoned fries are delicious! I love spicy food but I prefer their soy garlic chicken over the spicy version. Drumsticks are fun, but are huge. Wings are easier to eat, in my opinion. They didn't take the full 30 min to come out. On today's episode of BOUJEE or BOOTY: My family frequents Bonchon because my mom absolutely looooves their food. We get the Family Meal deal which is a great deal for the price. It comes with enough food to feed our family of 4. However, we have been noticing a quality decrease and today's visit is probably the last straw. We ordered for curbside pickup and were given an estimate of 20 mins, which is the usual time. We show up to get our food and the employee brings out one bag of food. I go to check the bag and there is sauce everywhere. Both containers were seeping sauce and the entire bottom of the bag was soaking with the sauce. Not to mention we were missing the entire second half of our order. So we ask her and she brings out the second bag. We didn't really mind that she forgot it at first cus it seemed busy and it's not a big deal. We still had high hopes for the food. However, it was very disappointing. The fries were stale, and MULTIPLE pieces of chicken were undercooked to where there was bright red blood oozing from one of the drum sticks (pictures added). It was very unappetizing. The fried rice was the only edible thing out of everything we got. So all in all, it was a terrible experience and I would NOT recommend, unless you like eating raw chicken...? Not exactly what I was expecting. We were instructed to seat ourselves which was fine albeit the table felt sticky; getting a drink menu was difficult. Once I was given one I asked about the price of Jinro- my waitress said she would check on it for me. It took a while and another waitress to get a response- they apparently didn't have half of their drink menu available including Jinro. My wife and my son shared some wings and the bulgogi fries- those were good according to them. I tried some bulgogi fries and those were pretty good. I would recommend those two items. I wanted something less fried and I order the bibimbap with the spicy chicken- that turned to be a mistake. When it was delivered there was barely any chicken in it and the bowl itself was 85% white rice. Not worth it at all for 19 dollars.
