I've always enjoyed Bonchon and this branch didn't disappoint. I introduced it to my friend and he had it for the first time. We both enjoyed the medium combo wings + drumsticks (spicy and crunch mix). If you can't handle spicy food, I wouldn't recommend the spicy flavor. Also got the potstickers - veggie one. All good! though they were a little too fried/tough for me but edible.I'd come back again for the other stuff and especially if I'm craving korean fusion. These guys went ABOVE and BEYOND! My cousin got married a few days ago and family from around the country and world were in town. The wedding was busy and did not get to hang out and catch up privately on a smaller group scale. We all love Bonchon and we ended up having a group of 14 people! When originally is was supposed to be 6. They were sooo accommodating. I walked in and asked for a table of 11. They did hesitate and said come back in 30 min. Which is not bad for a quick lunch place. Came back in 20min and the whole section was arranged for us to sit. Most of the party ended up being late. But they were super patient with us. We ordered apps in the mean time. The waiter was really patient with us. We also had family who were not familiar with the menu and the English language. Again. Super patient with us. We ordered and ate and hung around a little longer. The manager heard that the couple just got married. She gave them free mochi ice cream and was really sweet about it. Again. They went above and beyond. I bet they never had 14 people before. The food was quality. The spicy chicken Js actually SPICY. Always quality food. This was my first time dining in the restaurant and I was truly impressed at the level of customer service. From the young lady that greeted me when I walked in to the nice waiter who was kind and courteous. He answered all of my questions quickly. He let me know that my order was coming out soon and gave me a "frosted" mug for my beer. I tried the Sweet Crunch and the Soy Garlic wings with the seasoned fries. What a great choice. In addition I like that they warn you that the "spicy" is just that "spicy". I will return again to check out Happy Hour and I recommend our check them out too. You'll be pleased! read more

If I could give this restaurant zero stars I would. Never have I ever received worse service in a DIRTY restaurant. Went to pick up my order 10/20 min after I ordered. Once I arrived I waited ANOTHER 30 minutes only to find out "my order" had been sitting there the whole time. But wait it gets better, they give me the WRONG ORDER and when I come back just asking for the correct order I'm told the kitchen it closed at 9:10 (they close at 9:30) and that they can't do anything. Great Korean chicken place. Almost like 'crack' chicken because you can't get enough! The chicken is light and crispy on the outside, yet tender and juicy inside. It come is two flavors, soy garlic (my favorite) and (very) spicy. Your choice of drumsticks, wings, or tenders... They all come with a side of Korean-style pickles. A small order of tenders is 10 pieces! Other sides are optional, but I recommend the coleslaw. Other Korean options are available such as Bibimbop and Bulgogi, but this is a chicken place and those dishes are not as good as the ones served in a traditional Korean restaurant. Overall I would give four stars for the food, but service can be a bit slow at this location. They will always bring the chicken out quick, but other items may take longer and you might be full of the chicken before the rest of your order arrives. After eating here a few times, I've been greatly impressed with the food quality, quantity, and overall environment. It appears a large number of negative reviews are from people who've never had _Korean_ fried chicken wings and are expecting greasy American wings. The inside is fairly small and the one issue is that there is no waiting area within the front door. Instead, there are people milling about while the greeter arranges seating and takes to-go orders. That would be my only negative. We've had the shrimp shumai, takoyaki, fries, bull dak, and the wings of various types. These are large wings and nicely flavored. The bull dak quickly became my favorite dish. It's super spicy and large, though it could do with more vegatables; there's only a small bit of carrots and broccoli. Not sure if all of the poor reviews are because this location is new and is still sorting out the growing pains, but we had a great time here. My teen had never been to Bonchon, ever! So, we wandered here Monday night, and as soon as we walked into the restaurant we were helped. We chose to eat in, and were helped by the very awesome Mark! He guided my son in his first Bonchon experience, in which we split wings (hot) and an order of Bull dak. Mark warned my son that it's super spicy, but my son (who might guzzle hot sauce in his spare time) waved him off. Well, it WAS spicy, to where we ordered an additional order of rice. The wings were nice and big and juicy, and we had awesome Mochi ice cream to finish the meal off (that Vanilla bean one is what I dream about at night now). We came here on a Saturday afternoon (around 2:00pm) and it was pretty slow in the beginning then got busier as time went by. We went in and waited for about half a minute before someone came through to seat us. I've been going to the Bonchon in Ellicott City for years, no where else and I was surprised to see non-Koreans working here. I don't remember our waitress' name, but she's white and tall. She has a very lovely smile and I appreciate her persistence in trying to please us. Service was fantastic in my experience. She checked up on us numerous times but not too much to the point we felt our privacy was being intruded. She refilled our drinks (water and unsweetened iced tea) on time and as far as I know has always smiled and even made a few jokes. Between the 2 of us, we ordered 1 large combo, half & half, an order of Korean tacos (Bulgogi) and a Bibimbap (Bulgogi). Off top, I noticed the fried chicken pieces were smaller than the kind I'd get at the EC location, but their sizes didn't really effect my experience there. The spicy pieces were actually pretty spicy, but the flavor wasn't entirely there. The chicken itself was juicy, tender and the sweet pieces were flavorful. No complaints regarding the Korean tacos. They were good. And the Bibimbap was great. Instead of using the traditional Korean rice, they used Jasmine rice and personally, it was a great touch. The texture and flavor was slightly different, the rice itself wasn't as moist compared to the traditional and was very fluffy. Service was awesome throughout the 2 hours we were there and the food was good for the most part. And though I still prefer the EC location, I wouldn't hesitate coming here if I'm in the area. read more

For the past few trips, the chick-FIL-a near the mall was my first stop whenever I fly into BWI. lol and behold I see the sign for Bon Chon! So we flip a u-turn and make a b-line to this place instead. I love Korean chicken and have had mixed results with Bon Chon. The Virginia location has typically been very good to me but it's just too far to go... the San Fran location (see my review) was not very good. The chicken was money on this trip! The chicken had its signature double fried crunch and were sauced up nicely! They key is to eat these fast! Don't let it cools down.. chicken skin gets soft the longer you wait. Just eat it! Even if it burns your mouth.. burn heal, chicken skin doesn't get hard again (no sexy jokes). I can't vouch for any of the other food on the menu because I come here f r chicken and nothing else... This place is still in soft opening mode so they currently do not serve alcohol but we were assure that this would come to fruition in a few weeks. Professional tip from Pat: call ahead and place an order. There was no one in the restaurant but it was still a 30 minute wait for the food due to the plethora of phone orders. There should be a ZERO star option! This BonChon in Hanover, MD is the WORST of all that I have been to, in multiple states, up and down the east coast! AVOID THIS ONE - I have been going to many, many BonChon for over 10 years and never, was there ever a store where I was asked to place order, pay for the food and gratuity before being allowed to take a seat at a table.....except this location. It is summer, it is hot and the air conditioner in restaurant was either not on or not working, so the dining room was hot, humid and stuffy along with the kitchen fryer heat dissipating into the dining area. I hope it's not just an effort to save on air conditioning bill because it was miserable to dine in the dining area in that humidity and heat. Everything was SELF-SERVICE at this restaurant so I'm not sure what I pre-paid gratuity for when I have to help myself to utensils, drink refills, napkins etc. Food came out in paper trays, drinks in paper cups, so there's no dishes for them to wash. Large entrees that normally comes out in a serving plate or dish came out on a small paper tray ( like ones you put hot dogs on) which reminded me of buying at a food truck or state fair. Paper food trays do not hold up to wet food, they become soggy, loses their shape and messy to eat. Paper cups did not hold shape after 10 minutes, losing shape and started to become flexible and soggy. Again, not sure why there were preset gratuities on the receipt which you are asked to pay for before knowing all of this. Just terrible customer service and food service altogether. Now the food itself..... wings were dry and stale, and they try to compensate by adding extra sauce to hide the dryness. Flavor itself was not bad, a little salty but wings were so soggy because of the added sauce on it. BonChon wings are typically light and crispy and this was heavy and soggy. If you request spicy mayo- beware there is a $1charge per small side container, maybe 2 Tablespoons worth at best. I would not be returning to this restaurant. If you like sitting in a hot, humid restaurant eating off paper-ware and you like serving yourself, then this is one for you. Otherwise, there are MANY other BonChons in the same area very close to each other worth looking into. However, based on this experience, I would definitely research if the others in the area operate the same way before dining as I'm not sure if this is standard practice in this area. read more

So the business here has went down in professionalism so much I came in for a to go order last night I called while still inside the mall they told me 15 mins so I head over to the restaurant I show up nobody is at the front 2 other workers that I guess don't tend to the ppl at counter go about their business, in walks the guy with chipotle back to his location which is the front counter to help the lady in front of me , then I pay the I'm told my order will be ready in 5 minutes I was told that twice and then told my order would be ready in 3 minutes which I ended up waiting 40 minutes for my order. All while the workers are eating and tables haven't been cleaned where is manger maybe they were off that night but check your staff! the food was good but I'll go to the other one in Pasadena b4 going here I also ordered the medium combo it comes with 10 wings 5 drums I definitely didn't get the correct pieces read more

Finally went to Bonchon after hearing great things about the place, and this place certainly lived up to the hype. Their chicken wings are considered one of the best, and I could clearly see why. I got the spicy and the soy garlic wings and they were just perfect in their crispiness and flavors. Their lunch menu has bibimbaps and fried rice for less than 10$ and their portion sizes are big enough to last you two meals. And for the love of fish, do try their salmon avocado ball. More quaint than other Bonchons I've been to, a little less friendly and definitely more strange than I've experienced, I'm pretty sure I won't be back to this location. Let's start with my biggest irritation: birds in the restaurant on the back of a customer. Yeah, you didn't misread that. A man and his friend who were dining had two small birds on their shoulders. They sat wayyyy across from me, but at the first glance of birds in a good establishment I wanted to leave. My husband refused to leave, so I stayed. Second, besides the food taking an extraordinarily long time to make it to our table, the chicken was over cooked and breaded heavily. I was fully discussed and vowed never to come back at this point. The final and last straw was bickering between employees. I'm just not here for it. I was close to this location and decided to pick up and take home. I couldn't be more disappointed. I order the boneless wings half and half. They were the worse I have ever had. Dry and hard. There was hardly any sauce on the wings and couldn't eat 3 of them because they were so hard. The tacos we ordered were dry and had no flavor. Everyone is raving about this place. So thought we would try out the Korean deep fried style. It was meh. Not fond of the preparation. Server was super slow and keep messing up our orders. The floor here is super slippery even with the floor grip, almost fell on the way to the restroom. Here are our thoughts on the food. Japchae- ok. They chop up the noodles into tiny pieces. Why? This location has impressively bad service. We love Bonchon and are huge fans, but the experience we had at *this location* left us second guessing our fandom. We ordered 2 meals + side of rice. One meal arrived w the rice...and after waiting then asking about the second meal - our server blamed 'the slow kitchen' but clearly forgot to plug in our order for the second meal. And then walks to the register and plugs in the order... LOL... seriously? 30 min later meal 2 comes out and there wasn't a single apology. IMO this GM should find new staff. Received the best customer service. Despite being 5 minutes late and the store was closed, I received such a wonderful pleasant greeting, was shown kindness with opening and holding the door to the restaurant for me and my infant grandson. Then, he helped me to my car again, opening the door and assuring I safely placed him in his carseat. Then they shut the door, then asked if it was ok to place my order on the front seat. Great flavor and I love this Korean fried chicken. It is a little bit on the pricier side but I think it's worth it. I got half and half - soy garlic/spicy. The spicy is real spicy so be aware if this is your first time although eating it together with the radish does help with the heat. The saucing is a little inconsistent. So I live near here and have been dying to try "Korean fried chicken" - but was definitely not impressed. I don't know if it's the concept in general, or this particular restaurant, so please take that into account when reading my review! I lived in Korea for a year and a half a long time ago, and back then I don't ever remember seeing fried chicken served anywhere, so I think maybe it's a recent thing...or an American thing! I ordered by phone ahead of time as I'd read reviews saying the wait could be a while, and then I took the food to go. It was waiting when I arrived, so bonus points for that. I ordered the small (10 piece) chicken strips in the soy garlic flavor as I wasn't in the mood for super spicy, and a side of fries. First of all, the portion size is huge - definitely meant for 2 people, not just 1. Which ordinarily I'm happy to see, but price-wise it was priced for 2 people, and since I didn't eat even half of it I wished I'd been able to order a smaller portion. The fries were okay, honestly I don't remember them so they must not have been standout. Same with the radish, nothing standout. I've made better myself I think. The chicken...hmm...what can I say about the chicken? I really did NOT like it at all!!! It was very salty, and very tough, but in a weird way. The batter was nice and crunchy, but the chicken was just odd - not chewy, but almost crunchy itself. I can't really describe it, the texture was just bizarre. Between that and the saltiness, I ate about a piece and a half and threw the rest away. So maybe that's what Korean fried chicken is supposed to be like, in which case disregard my review! But maybe it was just bad... This is an awesome place to get Korean fried chicken and I'm soooo mad I didn't come here sooner! I had the opportunity to stop by with my girlfriend around 1:35 pm and got promptly seated! Food was delivered in under ten minutes and the sides are good as well! The staff was nice and the TVs and bar are pretty good for a bit of drinking and kicking it with friends! My family really enjoys BonChon, but this location is awful. Last night I ordered 20 strips for curbside pick-up. No one came out to my car with our food, I had to go in (why offer curbside pick-up if you are unwilling to bring it out to the car) and when I got home with our food, I found that they had given me wings instead of strips. I tried calling the store for 20 minutes to make them aware, but couldn't get through, just a constant busy signal. Stay away from this location. The worst service. We dined in and ordered the chicken, fries and drinks. First negative, they never brought us our drinks, we had to go up and ask for our soda. After waiting over 33 minutes we finally asked where our food was, it was just sitting at the bar area getting cold. Very bad service, the workers was just sitting doing nothing. First time at this location but have had Bonchon several times at other locations. The food was way off and not like the goodness we had before. Soy garlic other fried chicken just tasted like someone dumped cheap soy sauce on it; spicy chicken wasn't spicy at all; bulgogi was salty and lacked flavor. We had bulgogi left over. That should say it all. Also, the portions were annoyingly small for the price, especially given how much onion and green onion fillers they used for the spicy chicken and bulgogi.
