Pretty amazing brioches!! A cute little space within the financial district, this is a perfect place to grab a brioche, or sit down and enjoy their sandwich+soup, and they also offer French pressed teas and organic teas. Bonchaz are a hyrbid of a Mexican bun (conchas) and brioches (French buns.) Brioches are freshly baked'; the sweet aroma fills the place. There are 3 choices of brioches-plain-$1.25, French truffle, and banana walnut-$1.75 each. I order a French truffle one. (They are soon to have a matcha green tea flavour!!) The bun is warm, and topped with a soft crispy crust. One bite into this, and OMG, soft slightly sweet texture, and the crust just melts in your mouth. The French truffle filling is just melted, and sooo delicious!! Simply amazing. Perfect for a snack, or a lazy afternoon muching on Bonchaz all day.

I'm upping my rating this week. Recent improvements at Bon Chaz have made me change my mind about the espresso review I gave below. The quality is now starting to show and I'm enjoying the americano and truffle Bon Chaz combo in the morning. A dangerous addiction. -------- previous review --- Ok, I'm a sucker for baked goods. These little warm treats are delicious. The chocolate truffle is my favourite. And thanks to a morning promotion they're running, it comes free with a coffee purchase. Bonchaz serves personal french press coffee which adds to the charm. it took a while after opening to start fully serving espresso drinks. Unfortunately the espresso is simply not up to par. My double americano came in a 16oz cup at a steep 2.95 before tax, and was bitter and without any crema to speak of. Perhaps the double should be limited to a 12oz cup. I'd like to keep coming back to check on improvement, because this could be a nice one-two punch. Until then, you're only halfway there.

I've come here twice and both times I had the craving for the Smoked Alaskan Salmon Sandwich (~$8). The bun is soft and not soggy, the smoked salmon was delcious (I wish there were more), and the tomatoes and lettuce were fresh and crisp. Along with the hearty chicken soup with rice (~$2), it completed my lunch very well. Without the Living Social and Groupon deal I had, it's a little pricey for what is given, but still good. I'm not a coffee drinker but with all this chatter about the French Press, I had to try it with my friend. There must have been some drugs in there because it got me addicted. The next day, I kept thinking about that smooth coffee taste... drool* Lastly, a perfect pair with the french press would be there Original Sweet Bun (no I'm not talking about that model's behind). This dense, soft and sweet piece of bun is what will keep me coming back to Bonchaz. Merci!

Had Bonchaz cater at a function this morning. Ordered their Bonchaz-es in original, chocolate truffle, and banana walnut. The delivery came (early!) and the buns were freshly made and still warm. The buns were a hit for everyone. Everybody seemed to have their favourites, but I think chocolate truffle came out ahead. I've been at the café previously, and strongly recommend the pulled pork sandwich and the vegan chili. The pulled pork sandwich probably had the most pulled pork I've ever had in a sandwich and it was delicious as heck. I think there were even pieces of bacon on top of that :p~. A bit greasy, but I think it is expected. Even though I'm quite the meatasaurus, I absolutely love the vegan chili. It's hard to imagine something so tasty, but meatless!! After few sips, it does get a bit spicy for me, but I still continue to stuff myself with the chili while my tongue is on fire!

I'm sitting in this cute little cafe as I write this. It is my first time coming here. My husband and I discovered the cafe we were originally going to go to was closed on sundays, so after googling a bit we found out about this place and walked over. The atmosphere is really welcoming, they have chalkboards with their menu, nice lighting, comfy chairs for pairs and regular chairs for more. My husband and I ordered ham and cheese croissants, "vegan mocha cake", for our drinks my husband ordered an iced mocha, and I a London Fog. The croissants were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and perfectly flakey. The cake was amazing, you would never guess it was vegan. As for the drinks my husband's iced mocha he enjoyed it a lot, it was just the right amount of bitter, and just the right amount of sweet. And my London fog, I don't have anything to compare it to as this is my first one, but it's amazing and I want to drink them forever. The dude with the beard that served us was pretty awesome. I could see us being chummy with him if we were regulars. It's a shame we live outside of the city and don't come in too much, because if we did I could see myself spending a lot of time here. Edit: oh my god as I was leaving I noticed that they had a bookshelf that you can take a book or leave a book, or maybe just read while you are there. That is so cute.

I popped in for a quick bite the other day. Tried their salmon sandwich, pretty good taste overall. Would like to have more vegetables, like onion, cucumber, ... Tried their original bun, it was ok, but not too excited about this. They had good coffee and the scent of it was great. Will be back later.

A lunch cafe near Harbour Centre with tasty sandwiches, coffee and their signature Bonchaz (all under $6) - perfect for meet ups and students in the area to chill at during the day. It's comfy with its own 'lil hipster vibe going on. The Original Bonchaz is okay, but it's a cool concept. Sweet breakfast specials for $6 on weekends - tasty too!

Nicole Burke was so great to work with, and her team of chefs, bartenders, and waiters/waitresses were very professional professional (and fun). Our reception was much like a blank canvas, so Nicole and her team needed to build there own kitchen and bring ALL of their supplies- it was very impressive!! The food quality is outstanding. Our guests still continue to rave about the food. From cocktails and appies, to the main dishes and desserts- it was all amazing! We had quite a few last minute changes to make, and they were always more than willing to help (including packing all our food and drinks up at the end of the night and storing it at their warehouse!)... oh and making us a cake! We had the difficult task of planning our weding in Vancouver from California. We were nervous booking any caterer because we couldn't make it up to meet in person or have a tasting. We had phone conversations with many chefs and caterers, but after our intial conversation with Served it was evident that they possed the expereience and creativity we were looking for. We wanted to incorporate our Asian heratage into the cusine, and it was so awesome to hear Treavor's recommendations and suggestions around the possibilities of Asian Fusion. We were so impressed with his talent, knowledge, and creativity on the spot! We had an intimate wedding at a private home in Furry Creek. Both meals were incredibly delicious. I'm somewhat on the fence about this business. Ideally I'd have ranked them 3 and a half stars, but…read moreI'm rounding up. I've been to many events catered by Lazy Gourmet and, for the most part, the meals have been quite good. Not outstandingly great, not bad, but better than average. Very good, I'd say. If I can generalize, on average their main dishes have usually been tasty, their side dishes are hit-or-miss (some are good while others, bland), and their desserts tend to be disappointing. In general, their serving size tends to be small. If you're a guy with a big appetite, you'd need at least two servings of everything. This past Thanskgiving, I ordered three classic dinner holiday meals for me and my close two friends. The price was on a par with all the restaurants that were offering holiday meals to-go - perhaps a bit lower, even. Picking up the meals was a breeze; they have a nearby warehouse where you can park for free in the alley behind where there is a door to enter to get your meal. (I picked up my meals the day before Thanksgiving and I paid to park at a meter on the street, as did other patrons. When we got to the front door, there was a posted sign to go to the rear door to pick up one's order. There I saw that there was free parking. This is all awesome, but it sure would've been good to have known this in advance! Their pick-up order info should advise customers of the free parking in the back, and that we'd have to go to the rear door. SO many of us had to carry our large orders from the back alley to our cars parked in the front by meters). Anyhow, let's talk food, right? It's all about the food! Our turkey meals were, for the most part, very good. The turkey itself was delicious: perfectly cooked and moist and we all loved it. The potatoes were great. The gravy, great. The salad, quite good but not outstanding. Their cranberry-pear sauce was a bit tart but still, quite good. I was too full for the other sides (vegetable, bread rolls) but my friends said they were okay. (Both friends definitely could have eaten more. The portions were small. For me, it was a perfect amount but for regular or big eaters, definitely skimpy portion size). What was VERY disappointing was the desserts. The menu said dessert would consist of: "Dessert Platter: lemon tarts, gingersnaps, ruby chocolate discs, chocolate cupcakes with pumpkin spice latte frosting". Sounds delectable, no? Well, when I opened the dessert box upon returning home from getting the order, I was SO shocked by what I saw: an assortment of nice but tiny, TINY desserts. How tiny, you ask? The "ruby chocolate discs" were each a red chocolate disc the size of a Toonie (perhaps a tad larger - but not by much). The "cupcakes" and lemon tarts were smaller than half an average-sized petite four. No exaggeration, they were the diameter of quarters. The gingersnaps were hardened round cookies (we all said they reminded us of Dad's cookies from the box. You know, the hard cookies you have to dip in tea to soften, lest you risk breaking your teeth). And worse, as tiny as these deserts are, we didn't even get one each of them! They just throw in an assortment so each person gets three. So there were only two "cupcakes" and two "tarts" (the tastiest of the desserts offered), and we also got three red chocolate discs (bland) and two cookies (hard like rocks). I really thought they erred in not giving us three of each item and I immediately emailed and called the place to say they forgot to package the correct desserts for my order. A lady called back right away to advise me that the order was correct, they provide an assortment of desserts and each diner gets three. (I WISH their online ordering menu was clearer about what was offered re: size of desserts and amounts offered, to eliminate confusion). All I can say is, these dessert items were SO small, and only half were tasty, I was so relieved I had a cheesecake in my freezer to serve (I had it saved for another dinner, but used it for Thanksgiving. The LG desserts I got was definitely NOT sufficient or appropriate!). So it's rather a mixed review for this caterer. Would I use them again? Yes, for sure, but now I know to ask specifics about the order, and to have extra foods on hand to augment the ordered meal.
