Brought my 17 year old son here to get his nose pierced a couple of weeks ago. The piercer Myk was super professional and made my son feel completely at ease. There was quite the line for nose piercings on this particular Saturday. Definitely plan a good hour to hour and a half for a piercing if you are planning to stop by on a weekend. Myk said that it does stay pretty busy like that. He gave my son some easy to understand instructions and now that the piercing has been in for a couple of weeks, I can safely say that it was a success! I brought my 27 year old step-son here to get a tattoo a decade ago, and the tattoo artist who did his work is no longer there. So it wasn't my first visit, but it has been quite some time since I've been in and don't think it would be quite fair to comment on the first visit so many years later. Suffice to say that this experience was much better than the first! Highly recommend Myk for a professional and minimally painful piercing experience. Very hygienic and personable. read more

I struggle in how many stars to give this review, because I think the artwork for the tattoo I received at this shop was beautiful. However, Kyle takes artistic temperament to an obnoxious extreme, and I cannot recommend that you get a tattoo from him. Kyle was recommended to me by a friend. I looked at his portfolio online, corresponded with him regarding the design I wanted, paid a deposit via Paypal, and scheduled an appointment with him. So far so good. The deal was that I couldn't see the design until arriving at the appointment, and any mods would be done from there. I get that and am fine with it. A good artist doesn't want to risk their work being stolen or claimed by someone else. When I arrived, I asked about our mutual friend. He sounded annoyed and said that he hadn't been friends with her since the mid '90s. Nice way to act toward someone who's sending you work, creep. Then he acted very put out because I wanted to alter the dimensions for my tattoo. Because, you know, it's not like this is going to be on my body for the rest of my life and I should have the final say. The actual tattoo session went smoothly. I was very satisfied with his work (even though he completely ignored a couple requests I'd given him regarding design and color). Some spots on the tattoo took abnormally long to heal and resulted in a bit of color loss, which I wanted to have touched up. I contacted Kyle to schedule a touch up session. It took several attempts to get him to respond to me, and when he finally did he asked me to send him pictures of "what I thought need touched up". So I did. His response was to accuse me of not following his post-tattoo instructions (I did) and rant that his work rarely if ever healed that way. I was in no way blaming him for the color loss. After I stated that, he agreed to schedule a touch-up session. Unfortunately a family emergency came up on the evening of my touch up session. I still called Kyle to cancel, and he told me to call him back when I needed to reschedule. I have left 2 messages at Bonaroo and sent him several messages through both of his Facebook accounts. He won't respond. I'm done with this guy. I'll get my touch up work and any new tattoos done somewhere else, and I highly recommend you do the same if you don't like dealing with condescending rude people. read more

Let me preface this review by saying I am completely and utterly satisfied with the work I received. The lines are great and what I had done will fit in with my final piece perfectly. Everything was done in a sanitary manner and was done quickly and efficiently. My low rating is more for the attitude I received when getting my work done. WHICH I really do want to give the benefit of the doubt and chalk the experience to a misunderstanding. I have a very unique-read unconventional- project going on and I've been going to different places and getting a few things done to it. I chose Bonaroo because the art work was absolutely solid and I really want to choose a place I can just finish this piece out at. So, I called ahead to see if the shop had openings for walk ins and yes, they did. So I went in and talked to one artist and explained my project and what I wanted. They work on a rotation so it turned out it was the other artist's turn. I explained my project once again and gave him my idea sheet. I let him know that I wanted an hour of time to do as many of the things on the list that he felt comfortable doing. I think he misunderstood me and immediately let me know that that was not how business was done with him and he said the most he could do was three of them on the list with the time I requested. I told him that was fine, and that I did not expect anyone to do my entire list. By now, I was just plain nervous and a little uncomfortable, but the work was solid and he was already working on what I wanted or I would have just plain left. Usually when selecting fonts, I have a vague idea but I always try to talk my idea over with the artist about what they suggest and if they have any ideas to contribute to the project but by now it was apparent that my artist was COMPLETELY and utterly uninterested in what I was doing so I was kind of floating adrift and it seems like every time I had to think about a choice, he got even more impatient with me. He finished what I asked for pretty quickly with a few smart remarks about the placements I chose, which was an absolute bummer, because, if he had known or cared to ask more about said project, he definitely would have known that it falls right in line with what I had in mind and was essentially done perfectly. By now he had reminded me that he generally only does "real art" and that he's been "doing this for a long time" which is absolutely fabulous and his art DID reflect that, but did he care about me and my project? No. Did he take his time to make sure that I got everything I wanted to get? Not really. Did I leave, upset by the things he insinuated and said? Absolutely. I've honestly never been conflicted before about a place of business, because I absolutely do stand by his work and my satisfaction with what I got. I would love to come back and get everything finished at this shop, but I'm not into being treated poorly at a place where I'm spending money. read more

3 generations of women in my family have the same tattoo, a small, simple design that represents our family roots. For her 16th birthday, my daughter wanted to get hers. I called Bonaroo to verify that they were ok doing a tattoo on a 16 year old with parental consent and they told us to come on in. When we got there, a big hairy dude met with us. He did not ask us any questions about the tattoo. He proceeded to lecture my daughter and I about how tattoos are permanent and she needed to think long and hard about whether getting a tattoo was a good idea. He suggested that it would be hard to get a job with a tattoo on her shoulder... (my mom, grandmas, sister and I are all gainfully employed...) He also told her that her desire to be a tattoo artist someday was stupid because it's hard to make any money. He topped it all off by questioning my judgement as a parent and asking for $100 cash deposit for an appointment next month. Yeah. Ladies, I'd avoid this place if you don't want some gross dude to mansplain your tattoo to you. read more

While visiting Colorado, I wanted a tattoo of mountains so that I could always have a piece of the place I love so much with me. And of course I had to get it done in Colorado because it wouldn't be the same otherwise. I had a list of a few tattoo shops that I was gonna check out. Bonaroo was the first on my list. I didn't have an appointment and didn't even call ahead to see if they had an artist available. But I got a warm welcome regardless and they did their best to accommodate me. The first artist I talked to actually decided it would be best if he didn't do because he had an appointment coming up. I actually respect that because a lot of shops overbook themselves and then have their scheduled customers waiting long past their appointment time because they fall behind. To me that's a sign that this shop values its customers. They did get another artist for me and at that point I knew I wasn't gonna need to go to any of the other shops on my list because I felt great about this shop and their willingness to work with me. Jay was my artist. He was very pleasant and professional, wasn't cocky like a lot of tattoo artists can be, and he listened to what I wanted. This has definitely been my favorite session so far and my mountains look amazing. Jay definitely exceeded my expectations in every way and I would highly recommend him to anyone. Absolutely not. What was presented to me was worse than a child's coloring book. Came on my birthday, I was asked to wait two days so there could be such intricate details. Even though the 'artist' schedule was empty. Showed pictures, for reference. No resemblance of what I asked for. Curious why he asked what I wanted if he didn't plan to try to replicate anything remotely similar. He did not offer a refund on my deposit. He did not look anything up to copy or print. He did not re-draw anything. Just mockingly yelled, "come back if you change your mind!" Pretty sure this happens a lot here. But hey, he made $50 to do almost nothing. He absolutely changed my opinion about Bonaroo!!! I'm super disappointed. I went in today to buy a gift certificate/put money down for my mom to have her ears pierced for a Christmas gift. This place came very highly recommended so I was excited to have my mom have a good experience (she's 62). I walked in and didn't see anyone at first so I stood and waited. I hear a voice from somewhere in the back say "how can I help you". I was a bit confused at first but found where the person was and went over to him. I explained that I called the other day and spoke to someone about wanting a gift certificate for a simple single hole two ear piercing for my mother and wanted to know if they did that. The man I spoke to on the phone was very nice and told me it's not common to do the gift certificate but he would try and find it for me because he knew they had them somewhere. I asked the cost and he said it was $30. Great! I told him I would be by this week to purchase it. Call was over. The man behind the counter doodling on some paper barely looked me in the eyes while talking to me and said I should come back when a piercer is here to buy the gift certificate from him. I don't live anywhere close to here but came tonight in traffic because of the recommendations they had. I explained this to him and he said "well I'm a tattoo artist so I don't really know what the cost is". I was confused as I had just told him what I was quoted on the phone and also that he wouldn't know what the standard fee is for a service at his job. Keep in mind this is nothing extravagant. He said he would sell me a gift certificate for 30 if that's what I wanted but that I should really get it from the piercer in case it's not the right cost. By this time he was becoming quite rude and It was obvious he had no desire to really try and help me. So I said I would try and come back and he couldn't put his gift certificate book up fast enough and just said "welp, sorry". Again I was very shocked at this customer service and attitude towards me. I told him as I was leaving I was disappointed because they came so highly recommended. He said "you don't have to get offended". I said "and you don't have to be rude" and left. I am so bummed out! Here's to hoping I find somewhere good for her. read more

We called to check pricing and to see if they do double venom piercings there since none of their piercing prices are listed on their website and the person that answered the phone wasn't familiar with the piercing so he went to check with the piercer and told us the prices. He confirmed with the piercer that she could and would do the piercing, he told us that all appointments were to be made online so we immediately did. When we went in today the piercer said that she couldn't do it and that no reputable piercer would and because she did not feel comfortable being that close to the veins. Luckily we had another person that was getting pierced so we weren't charged the $60 for the cancellation fee. When the other person found out it was going to be $180 for a piercing to each ear we wanted to leave but was told we would be charged $60 for canceling the appointment. This place is garbage! Extremely rude and seemingly incompetent staff! I wouldn't recommend this place to my absolute worst enemy. Felt an anti-black people vibe from everyone including the mixed girl that works there. read more

I have got 6 tattoos from JJ and I have been extremely satisfied with all of them. I have recommended multiple friends to him, two of which have gotten tattoos from his recently. His colors and lines are extremely clean, and he always make sure the drawing is what you want before making a stencil. He makes sure you're comfortable before starting the tattoo and during the time of the tattoo. He's pretty fast and very accurate. I would recommend JJ to anyone who is new at tattoos or even that have multiple already and want something new. He's fantastic and if you were ever needing or wanting a touch up he is more than happy to help work with your schedule to find time to come in. This place is an absolute joke and I have no idea how it's even still open. My first experience there was getting my tongue pierced crooked. It was fixed for free but I wouldn't advise letting the guy with the cocked eye pierce you. The entire staff is incredibly rude. Act is if you're doing them a favor by letting them tattoo or pierce you. They're open right now but their open sign isn't on and when you walk in they look at you like you did something wrong. And if you need a new piece of jewelry or anything like that you pretty much have to wait for the piercer who shows up whenever he feels like it, not when the store opens. Just got a cover up from Jayce. Let me first say I went into the shop a week prior to check it out and Mike and other artists were so helpful and friendly. I investigated over 7 different locations before making my decision and statistically the customer service and artist attitudes aren't always stellar. The only complaint I have is I told him I didn't want any white in my blue rose. He said he'd put pink in, but as you can see there is white. If I'm not happy after it heals I'll have him change it. But you can't see the tattoo of a pig I had under it. Great job, great bedside manner. I'll be back for more! read more
