I walked in with intentions to simply set an appointment. I was promptly greeted by two artists, one of which had time to help me on the spot. The service was really great and I was chatted up by other artists as I was getting the work done. I'm sure they are all talented, but can only judge the tattoo I got from Mac. By far the best tattoo that I have. He worked quickly while keeping a conversation and joking around with me. Highly recommend! read more

Dirk did tattoos for my son and I. He took time to listen to what we wanted, was personable, and they both turned out great. The shop is clean and not intimidating. Highly recommend. read more

I'm a 71-yr-old female who booked with Dirk for her first tattoo. Not knowing what to expect but honestly expecting a little bit of ridicule and lots of condescension, I was pleasantly surprised and very pleased with the quality of the tattoo, the ease of talking with him, and the overwhelming acceptance I experienced here. A friend recommended Dirk and I want to unconditionally recommend him to anyone who is considering him for their first or fiftieth tattoo. Excellent shop, unique decor, quality work. Can't wait return for Tattoo #2. read more

Went here a few months ago and had an amazing experience with Gordon. My experience today was awful. Several weeks ago I made an appointment and sent a picture of what I wanted. I was told Doug would be my artist. When we got here today, there was no stencil ready and when he finally brought it out it was nothing like what I wanted. It should be noted that the tattoo I want is for my mother and it's literally an exact replica of the one I got here a few months ago. He goes on to tell me it's "not my art style" and threw an attitude about the changes that I wanted done to the stencil. He left out a lot of details and the proportions were off. First off, the appointment was made with a picture and the artist was assigned to me. If it isn't his art style I don't know why he even took the appointment. Second of all, he was extremely rude to us because we were asking him to make changes to the stencil. This is a PERMANENT thing. I've never met a tattoo artist that was so irritated about having to clean up a design. I won't be back. read more

No trust here. Dirk let me along to steal a $50 deposit. I was told that I could cancel within 48 hours to get a refund. I hadn't even gotten a quote! Be carful! read more

A friend and I walked in to get a small "quote" tattoo on my back. The initial experience was really awkward with the artist that was given to me. Now I understand that I was a walk-in but I figured no one could mess up a simple quote this bad. I was laying there and felt off about the movements and things. and this definitely was not my first tattoo, I am not afraid to get one. After it was done, the tattoo came out extremely crooked, he took a photo for me. I mentioned it was crooked and the artist told me that it's because I was breathing too hard and it made him move. I don't believe that because I went and recently got the tattoo covered up with a large back piece and it came out perfect. Overall, it wasn't a good experience for me. For it being permanent on your body, I was extremely upset. And he didn't react to it well when I pointed out the issue. I try and be personable with artists but this one was just awkward and I really really tried to like them. read more

My daughter has been wanting her cartilage pierced and her first tattoo forever. Her dad and I decided to get it for her finally. I did a lot of research and decided on Epiphany Tattoo. This super clean and well lit shop near Dry Dock on Hampden is stocked with a great selection of body jewelry. They've got books and tons of pictures of tattoos on the wall. We walked in at 3 and I explained what we wanted and was asked to come back at 6. Dirk was very friendly and approachable, but he was the only guy in the shop and there were people ahead of us. We arrived at 6 and Dirk asked if we minded if Gordon did her tattoo because he was still with a client. We decided it would be fine. Gordon was SO nice and listened to what she wanted and totally accommodated us as neurotic parents and made us feel so at ease. He was great with my daughter and made her feel comfortable as well. He was done quick! And after fixing a mistake that WE made on the original drawing, the tattoo was perfect. I highly suggest this shop. They are super nice and don't make you feel at all like you've interrupted their day. I'm coming back after my trip to get my next piece done. Thanks guys for making us feel welcome! read more

Horrible, he did my tattoo and I loved it, sent my wife over and the more people that look at it it's horrible. Ya seriously can't do 2 periods only 1, the cross on the hat is not centered. Will go and have it fixed, but not by Gordon. Sorry I question how you could allow someone to walk out with this? read more

I got my first-ever tattoo here! Mac was amazing, and I want to publicly apologize to this rock star. He took me in very quick when he didn't have to, and he wasn't prepared for someone to pass out in his chair. And y'all, I passed out HARD! However, he was so patient and caring and encouraging. read more

I came in last week, spoke to James about what I wanted (Joker tattoo). We discussed the size, color and cost. I made the appointment and came in yesterday. I can't tell you how important it is to me that when I make an appointment that when I arrive they are ready for me, James was. He was ready and prepared. This was almost a 3 1/2 hour tattoo and he did a great job. This morning I was expecting to be very sore from all the color put on me but there was very minimal swelling. This is my third tattoo and my first with so much ink and I am very impressed and pleased with the results. read more

I walked in today wanting a small and simple wrist tattoo, a shorter Asian guy with a hat walked up to me and I said I wanted a small wrist tattoo as a first. He immediately said he didn't have time today which is fine but he left the conversation at that and didn't offer another time to come in where we could get it done, and in total gave a very stand-off-ish attitude . He walked away to continue to chat with a couple of people in the back. Whether one of the the people in the back was getting work done or not, he had time to come up and greet us and probably had time to at least schedule a time for me to come in when he, or someone else, was free. I don't think I'm entitled to anything besides a little effort from staff when you're bringing in business and as a first impression with anything tattoo it left a really bad taste in my mouth. I called Lady Luck Tattoo just up the street and they immediately said they were booked today as well but followed up with a time that I could come in. The contrast in customer service was blatantly obvious and I'll be getting my work done there from now on just based on first impressions, which is unfortunate because Epiphany is closer to my place. read more

I just think you should know how this place treats people with special needs. My daughter is autistic and started an apprenticeship there. The employee Mack knowing she was autistic called her work "shit", made fun of my wife and I's parenting skills to my daughter. They were not giving her a set schedule around her other job. When I called and asked it mack said they absolutely would not and hung up. As soon as he hung up he turned to my daughter and said he was only kidding and they would "work it out". So my daughter calls back a few days later and and says her hours and Mack says "no you are only working here" and hangs up on her. What type of professionalism is this? To treat anyone let alone an autistic person this way? If you have a special needs child stay the hell away from this place because they think it is funny to haze them. read more

Fucked up both my dad and my tattoo. Neither of us even got a discount. I'll never take my business there again.

Dirk is an amazing artist. I would trust him completely to do any tattoo. I have a half sleeve designed by him and he helped me with a cover up as well. Dirk is very professional and the shop is clean and sanitary. My husband also has an incredible half sleeve done by Dirk. His color work is vibrant and he does very clean line work. read more

I went to Epiphany a few time in the last few weeks to explore getting my first tattoo. James was very helpful to me explaining the entire process and how it works. He helped me to design a tattoo that met what I was looking for in meaning but also something very stylish as well. I went and had the tattoo done Saturday evening. He was great! Amazing workmanship and the very confident in his work. He took the time to explain the after care instructions and how to make sure that I took care of it based on the environment I work in. I would recommend them to any one that is even considering a tattoo. read more

On a whim my best friend and I decided that we needed some more body modification. I called on a Saturday and Jim got us in on Sunday. Jim drew up my tattoo design and got to work on it. I am very pleased with his work. Jim is awesome and has a sweet style. I would go back! His piercing is very clean and lovely as well. It was a bit funny and sad to see my best friend get her septum pierced. read more

My friend and I randomly decided to get tattoos on a Saturday and we were able to get appointments with James. He was AWESOME!!! He was able to draw up a really cool naval ship anchor for my friends departed father and it was exactly what she wanted. For me...... This was my very first tattoo (Eeeeek). James was able to take the design of tribal sea turtles that I had picked out. He helped me modify the design to fit the area that I wanted them and also helped me add the personal touch them that I had in mind. My turtles are perfect. He was so nice and talked to me the entire time, which helped to distract me from any pain. He gave me some tips prior to actually getting the tattoos and told me how to care for it while it was healing. My tattoo wasn't sore or anything the day after. He did such a great job and I would totally recommend James to everyone!!! read more

I just saw Dirk, who helped me choose a place to pierce my cartilage along the ridge of my ears. Not only was I lucky enough to be seen right away, I was lucky enough to get a total professional to pierce me when I just came into the first place I saw on a whim. The process was clean, quick, for the most part painless, and I couldn't be happier with the placement. He also educated me very well about my options around the piercing without presumption. I definitely will use Dirk again when I decide to pierce again. Thank you, Epiphany! read more

My review is not only about James but also about dirk, a couple years back I had James rock out some work on my trench and my wrist. Still to this day James has been the only person to make white stick in my skin and the color is just as vibrant as the day they were done. He made it a blast to work with him and was calming in two really shitty spots to get inked up. Dirk is a bad ass and also made it fun, he hung around and talked with me and the thing that I respect the most is he let his artist DO WHAT HE DOES!!!! A lot of tattoo shops could take notes. Super clean shop, tons of the artists works and every artist's booth shows what kind of style they're about. At this point i won't go any other place to get ink pushed into the ol dermis. Keep up the good work guys!!!! read more

I was wanting a cover up on my wrist for about 4 years now and I wasn't sure where to go. I looked up on yelp saw this place had great reviews so I walked in and checked it out myself. Jim was my tattoo artist and he also help me come up with an idea for a nice cover up. We decided to do a stormtrooper/candy skull idea and it came out better than I could have imagined! I was so nervous getting the tattoo but Jim was there to talk to me through out the whole time and it got my mind off the pain. He is incredibly wonderful at what he does. I highly recommend him if you're looking for some nice ink work done. read more

Well the initial experience and encounter was awful enough that I didn't even get any work done here truthfully. I have never given a review on a place where I haven't received a product or service but this is definitely one worth publicizing. I entered the shop And informed the dude that I have recently drop the shop and artist that I was with for over 7 years and 20 sumthin Tattoos. I informed him that I was shopping around for a new artist to complete the work that I still wanted to have done. He responded as if I offended him and said "I'm not sure that's a great way to introduce yourself into a new Tattoo shop I don't even know what you mean by shopping for a new artist." Haha I mean hell I've been a loyal client to another artist who has ruined the artist/client relationship and now I'm looking for a new artist what's so hard to understand? I suppose they don't have many people researching before hiring them to permanently decorate their bodies. Anyhow I explained briefly again that I was looking for a new artist and again asked to see portfolios. Dude was apparently still offended that I wanted to pre judge before hiring someone. He copped an attitude and pointed to the flash art posters on the wall and said well I still don't know what you mean by hiring an artist to work on you but you can look through those. This spot is probably the perfect shop for a first time Tattoo client but if you are well Tattooed and the work you are used to getting is from a several award winning type of artist then don't stop here. Because they have digital printed image (flash art) portfolios. read more

I came in to have a current tattoo re colored due to fading. Jim did a fantastic job of bringing back the life to my tat. He added extra shading etc that actually enhanced my already great tattoo. I will definitely go back there for more work. I 100% would encourage someone to go here. read more

I took my daughter in for a septum piercing. Terrible customer service. There was hardly any conversation, he rushed through the piercing AND the piercing was placed way too far back. Came in for a naval piercing last week. The piercer didn't even have a flat table for me to lay on, making me hold myself up for the piercing. Which ended up making him Pierce it too high up + did not give it enough room to swell up during the healing process. The piercing is not even in my naval & the top ball is pushing into my stomach making a huge hole. I was upset leaving the place but gave it a week to see how it would heal- it already has an infection. I have 11 piercings and have never had them get infected before. I only came here because my guy was out of town- big mistake on my part. Really disappointed because now I'm going to have to take it out and let it heal. I would recommend the place inside the aurora mall before I recommend this place for a piercing. Mostly disappointed I wasted my money on this place read more

Got multiple tattoos from Dirk. He runs a great shop and is outstanding at his craft!

I have gotten my first two tattoos from Dirk here. I was totally nervous for my first tattoo but he made me feel comfortable and explained what he was doing and the equipment he was using and put my mind at ease. He is amazing.
