Ordered the Chicken Tikka Wrap, Samosas and Lamb Curry Wrap. First off they got the order wrong and gave us soup instead of a wrap. Then the soup we had was literally just water and celery. Not good at all. The Samosas were over cooked and hard. Didn't have much taste or flavor. I ended up eating the one wrap that was there and it was the Lamb Curry Wrap. OMG. I didn't expect this place to be as good as anticipated! The FACT that I DON'T have a picture of the food is because it smelled sooo good, that I went right to eating it before I could even REMEMBER to take a picture. This place is near my apartment so decided to go here for dinner one day when we were too lazy to cook. It's simple, fast, and causal, yet clean. I got the beef kabob wrap with lentil soup. My husband got the chicken tikka wrap with sweet potato fries. The flavors in the wraps were good, however they weren't tightly wrapped and kind of fall apart on you while you're eating. That's not a huge issue for me though. We asked for spicy and the wraps were definitely not spicy. The lentil soup was ok. It needed more salt and was kind of bland. The sweet potato fries were a standout and really delicious with some spices on them. Service was fine, not overly friendly but not rude. Overall, a good place to grab a fast lunch or dinner when you're feeling lazy and are in the area. It's also pretty cheap which is a huge plus. Not somewhere you have to try though. I live and work in Streeterville and rarely leave my downtown bubble. My sense of adventure involves trying the new restaurants that pop up around my hood. So I was power walking home for lunch one day with my blinders on when I decided to take an early left turn directly into this newly opened establishment. I walked straight up to the menu, decided on the Beef Kabob Wrap and only the Beef Kabob Wrap, paid, received my food, and beelined for my living room couch. There could have been a mutant monkey sitting at a table and I wouldn't have noticed it. If you'd ask me about the color of the floors, walls, tables or chairs, I would have no idea. Anyway, my first impression when I opened the foil was, damn, this is sort of small. But it was tasty! And - surprisingly filling. Oh - and they gave me a $5 coupon! Okay, I like you guys. Today I ordered the "make-me-whatever-you-desire" off of GrubHub for takeout. Pick up was quick and easy, the staff was friendly. I took a moment to take a look at the aesthetics of the place. It's a pretty typical fast-casual venue: simple, clean, crisp and modern. My meal, which I, again, ate on my living room couch, was more elaborate than the first, and just as delicious. The staff at Bombay had bestowed upon me a Chicken Tikka Wrap, three Samosas, a side of cilantro chutney, and some super odd, bright orange fudge-looking thing. To be honest I really had no idea what I was eating, as my experience with Indian food is minimal and I didn't even think I liked it - but I am now a fan. I took an itty bitty nibble of the dessert and had to pass. I've received plenty of rejection when I try to share my Polish sweets with people, so deep down I knew the people of Bombay would understand. Cool take on Indian street fast food, but a little greasy and messy. I love Indian street food and I love it even more when people think of new ways to make Indian food a "grab'n'go" style of food. This was my first time visiting Bombay Wraps and overall I was pretty satisfied. My sister and I a samosa wrap and the channa wrap and then we split them. Overall, the food wasn't bad. We ordered the wraps "spicy" but i wish they were a little more spicy. The wraps were also pretty messy so it was kind of hard to eat and easier to eat with knife and fork. But, the lady preparing our food did warn us of that. I liked that the wraps were made of paratha, which was a nice nostalgic thing for me from my childhood. We also ordered the sweet potato masala fries which were cooked to perfection: crispy on the outside, slightly soft inside and incredibly seasoned. I would recommend this place to someone who wanted something on the go and were downtown. I've never had Indian food like this before so it was a great experience to try something new within a cuisine that I already love! It was flaky and the chicken was cooked just right and went well with the sauces. I don't recommend ordering the sides. The samosas were very small but generously stuffed. They were overcooked and pretty hard. The fries were near burnt. Don't get me wrong, the fries were good but they just had a burnt taste to them. They offered me a cup for water without me asking and threw away my trash once I was done. It's a fast food place, something I don't expect the workers to do. I've always heard good things about this place from co-workers and they had recommended that I try the fries and the sweet potato fries and the Beef Kabob rice bowl. For the price you pay the portion sizes are decent and the food does fill you up. I wasn't a big fan of the sweet/spicy sauce that gave with the fries but I'm sure you can request for another sauce or even Ketchup. You can dine in the restaurant as well (decent amount of seating). It's basically like an Indian chipotle in my opition. If you are around the area and looking for a quick lunch spot this is a good place to consider. But the combos are a good deal esp since you'll definitely need 2 or 1+ a side to be full. The snack size allows for more variety and flexibility - like what if you did just want a snack? Taste wise, I thought the paratha could've been fluffier, the filling was decent but not amazing, and overall just alright. Compared to chipotle/naf naf where every bite is so flavorful... this isn't quite that. I think this location is new, so everything is super clean and bright and the ambiance is great for a quick bite. We picked it because it wasn't crowded and the owners were gracious enough to let us bring our bikes in to keep inside against the wall, and I'll definitely be keeping this in mind for future rides along lakeshore drive. Few times I've been in there. The staff is eating behind the counter and nobody in there. Food is ok but seems a bit unkept maybe with staff eating behind the counter and then making your food. Been here a few more times and the food is growing on me. My usual is the Chickpea Chana unwrapped on a salad, vegetarian and healthy, while also tasting really good. It's not quite enough all on its own to fill me up, but nothing some sweet potato fries can't fix. Those are good, and well seasoned so they don't even need the spicy ketchup sauce they come with. The Chicken Tikka wrap is also very tasty, the chicken still moist and the sauce just delicious. The menu now includes some breakfast items, various wraps involving eggs, so we tried one of them. Can't remember the name (and their website doesn't have them up yet), but it was eggs, peppers, and tomatoes cooked with Indian seasoning. Substantial size for a cheaper wrap, but it was a bit oily (see pic). Enjoyed the flavor, but the amount of oil was a bit of a turn off (nothing that can't be corrected though). read more

If it was possible, I would give Bombay Wraps an even lower rating. The service wasn't friendly and the servers were patronizing. In all entirety, the food was awful. The serving portions were very small for the price and being it was a fast food chain. The samosas were frozen samosas that were fried. The parantha was undercooked and so small. The chutney was stale and was residual. The only mildly decent thing on the menu was the sweet potato fries. As someone who grew up in Bombay with wholesome Indian cooking, I realize that I may come in with a bias. However, the food wasn't even up to American fast food standards. The "chai" is far from what chai is. If you are claiming to serve ethnic food, it is expected that you are truly representative of the culture and food.
