Upon entering the set up is Chitpole style.. open window kitchen with the ingredients open for the customer to view. I order the Chicken Tikki wrap and an order of samosa. The food was pretty good for it to be fast food. Cons?? Personally, I am a person that likes bang for my buck and the wrap was justtttt a bit too tiny for $4.79 and $3 for three small samosas. Pros?? Open window kitchen and you can alter your meal if there is an ingredient you don't want. Did i mention that there is also a miniature grocery store attached?! Yes. Small snacks, treats and drinks that resemble the culture of the food are sold there. I did not try any of them but i was very tempted. Going back? I ordered from this place on UberEats and it did not disappoint! It's the perfect way to combine authentic South Asian food into an easy to eat form with rolls and wraps and no mess. I was a big fan of the chicken tikka wrap and the mango lassi. Excellent vegetarian samosas! There are 3 small samosas to an order, and they are delicious . The perfect spices, crispy and not overly oily. Served with a choice of 3 different sauces - mild, spicy and sweet. We tried the mild and the spicy and they were great. There wrap menu looks good, too. Sometimes when that Indian food craving hits, it hits hard! Usually I order takeout from India House but I was looking for something more affordable and casual this time. Thus, Bombay Wraps. Great place for Indian food in the downtown. We went there after a tiring day to try out and the food made our day. Food: With a good number of vegetarian options available, we went for a Potato & Cauliflower Medley Rice Bowl (+egg) and Chickpea Chana Rice Bowl, along with Sweet Potato Fries and Mango Lassi. Both the bowls were amazing in taste. Potato & Cauliflower Medley was spiced just right. Pickled onions were great and the cilantro mint chutney gave a good fresh punch to the entire bowl. Chickpea Chana Rice Bowl was good too with fresh tomatoes and cucumber making it very fresh in appearance as well as taste. Sweet Potato Fries were good. What stole the show was the Mango Lassi which was great and very refreshing. We loved it so much we got it twice. They allow BYOB and also have gluten-free and vegan options which was good for my wife as she wanted to avoid dairy. Ambiance: The ambiance was good. They have the seating area just as you enter the restaurant. As you move towards the ordering counters, you see an arrangement of Indian dry snacks, biscuits, tea, spices, Maggi etc on one side - I am assuming for sale as Indian population is their target customer group. Customers at work often ask her for recommendations on local "quick bite" places in downtown/loop/Streeterville areas, but she freezes and feels a bit embarrassed since she's a self-proclaimed "Chicago foodie." Well, that's about to change. She has started broadening her horizon in the downtown Chicago area. Back to the usage of first-person pronoun, I purchased a groupon on Bombay Wraps since it's a place that hubby can partake since many items on the menu are vegetarian-friendly. Apparently, it's a fairly new joint, with chic-looking furniture, bright lights, and clean facilities. The groupon basically provided $10-worth of credit to spend on food and beverages. I chose the unwrapped version of lamb curry, while hubby picked the two (2) wraps meal combo special. If you have chosen the "unwrapped" option, it would be presented on a plate with a cup of spiced lime vinaigrette dressing (similar to a salad bowl...in an Indian style). I personally thought the meal combo deal was right on the money. The "wrapped" style would cost less than the "unwrapped" version. If you were to choose two (2) wraps, you could get a fountain pop for $0.99 extra. For instance, hubby's potato tava wrap ($3.99), samosa wrap ($3.99), and a fountain drink ($0.99) would make the entire meal under $10. We paid approximately $10-difference since the lamb curry was one of the most expensive items on the menu ($8.99). I wouldn't consider the portions as generous, yet they were enough for individuals with healthy appetites. My lamb curry "salad" was average. Although I requested "spicy," it wasn't anything strong that would cause a burning sensation. Hubby enjoyed his wraps, but he did agree with me that the entire meal was on a "pricer" side. Nevertheless, I would prefer Bombay Wraps over other "fast-foodie" commercial chains nearby in a heartbeat! The dining room was very comfortable, with Indian music videos constantly playing. Who wouldn't like synchronized dance moves and syncopated music beats? This location is pretty close to the Navy Pier and Lake Shore Drive. If you ever end up staying or visiting in the downtown/Magnificent Mile part of town, Bombay Wraps would be a good alternative if you are trying to steer away from the Mc*ona*d's. read more

OMG. I didn't expect this place to be as good as anticipated! The FACT that I DON'T have a picture of the food is because it smelled sooo good, that I went right to eating it before I could even REMEMBER to take a picture. I got the Samosa Wrap, Paneer Wrap, and Channa Wrap, and all three had their own flavor, but all three were just AMAZING. I got the spiciest sauce on all three wraps, but wished it was spicier. Clean set up and super friendly staff even with the store coming close to closing time. The ordering and prep works pretty similar to a Chipotle line, where you can choose between a wrap or salad bowl and then pick from a variety of traditional Indian fillings. Being a bit on the hungrier side, I opted for 2 wraps and tried the chicken tikka and lamb curry wraps. I have so say both were pretty tasty, however I noticed the chicken tikka wrap had considerably less meat than my curry lamb wrap. At just under $12, I have to say I expected a good amount of food, but my togo bag definitely felt a bit on the lighter side. And after inhaling both, I definitely was still hungry. Maybe portion control is a good thing, but I must say I expected more for what I paid. Also, I forgot to add that both came with options for spicy or mild. Mild is really mild, I'll give the spicy a chance the next time I'm in. I really hope they adjust their portions and pricing accordingly, because other than that the food is really good! The food I had from Bombay Wraps was seriously good. Surprisingly good. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it blew me away. I had to dock a star because I placed an order via delivery, and it showed up... well... a mess. I ordered the chicken tikka bowl, samosas, and lentil soup. Somewhere along the way, the lid came off the soup, and it was EVERYWHERE. Over the other dishes, the bag, then soon the table... you get the picture. They also didn't include a spoon which made eating soup really difficult in a hotel. Long story short: order from this place for sure, but skip the soup. The rice bowl was SO FLAVORFUL and the chicken was cooked perfectly. It had nice spice and was full of veggies, as well. The samosas and accompanying sauce were also just excellent. Delivery was fast, the food was healthy and filling, and I got a few bites of soup with a fork (ha.) I'd order again, especially if I'm craving Indian. read more

Great variety and selection of food! We ordered lunch from Bombay Wraps while in Chicago for work. I was overwhelmed by the options we had to chose from. You have a good selection of filling/flavors but then you can also get them as rice bowls, salads, wraps. They also have a very refreshing cilantro cucumber sauce. We chose this place because we had a craving for Indian food and we were not disappointed. The food seemed really fresh once it arrived. The spice level can be customized as the hot sauce was on the side. I ended up getting the lentil dal soup and the potato cauliflower medley over rice. This was probably my favorite dal soup from an Indian restaurant. It has just the right amount of spice and I couldn't put my finger on it but there was a refreshing flavor in it. My coworker also got the mini samosas which were also delicious. I like mini samosas better than the giant regular ones due to the filling consistency. My rice bowl was a giant proportional and the flavors were plentiful. Sometimes Indian restaurants over power on some spices and you can taste one thing above all else but that was not the case. All the flavors were balanced and I liked being able to control my spice level. I wish I wasn't traveling for work so I could have taken home the leftovers! Overall, a great place to cater from. What a terrible experience. Let me go through the criteria as I normally would: 1. Food. We ordered the sweet potato friend, lentil soup and paneer bowl. I will give them a few points for the fries- they were tasty. Basically fries with some chat masala on top, no brainer but still good. The lentil soup was basically sambhar. OK. Can't complain but wasn't the best. And oh dear god let's talk about the paneer bowl. The bowl consisted of rice with chunks of paneer, all under green and red chutney, with sides of onions and bell peppers. First of all, you could atleast cook the paneer properly so it has some flavor. It was so bland and the attempt to give it flavor by smothering it with chutney was just ridiculous. The rice was not properly cooked and honestly tasted old. And the fried side was just very out of place. This dish was not tasty NOR was it filling, as the quantity is very small. 2. Ambience. This is a cute little place. The seating area and decor is nice and trendy. Not quite what I would call boujie or upscale, but cute and maybe hipster. Thought the ceiling decor was quite clever. 3. Service. What a disaster. The lady at the counter straight up DENIED me an extra paper plate. Said "we have too much of a crowd so we have run out of plates". Ten minutes later I went to order something else, and she gave me my fries in a paper plate. In other words, these people are so stingy that they will only offer you plates or cups per entree. God forbid someone ask for an extra plate. Seriously this was beyond tacky. I have never in my life had a person at the counter behave so rudely and just lie straight to my face. The worst part was, she was acting like her not being able to give me a plate was something obvious. She gestured to the room and said "see how crowded we are?". I'm sorry. How is that my problem? I'm just asking for a plate. And wow why are you lying and ready to give me a plate as soon as I order something else. Beyond low. Just absolutely pathetic. I do not recommend this place. Had a try of their tikka masala bread roll from the Wells St. Location and found it too good not to have again for dinner, the same day! It's that good! And worth the trek to the Ohio st. which was opened later hours than the Wells st. and twice as far from us. The second meal was a variety and all extraordinary: chicken tikka masala wrap, chicken reshmi bread roll, chicken reshmi wrap and their lentil dal soup. The chicken was consistently very tender in each. The sauces were savory and the perfect amount. The wrap was substantial and just crispy enough. The bread roll is like the buttered thick but soft rolls you'd find in a good lobster roll. The vegetable toppings for each was thoughtfully curated and perfect in texture and amount to each. The soup is now my favorite soup and I could literally enjoy gallons of it! Perfect in spiciness, rich with flavor with roasted cumin and cilantro. It was the perfect accompaniment to the main course. We also had a Fanta from India (real sugar rather than Fructose - yes, we noticed and appreciated!) and a mango lassi made fresh in house. The lassi tasted rich so I was surprised to learn it was made with low-fat yogurt. Since we had their food at both the beginning and end of the same day (near closing) and at two different locations, we could honestly say that there was consistency in freshness and flavor.
