I did but only because I did not have another option. Justin was there the following morning to look at the problem. He gave me a time frame and cost right away so there were no surprises. My boyfriend and I just moved to the area from Texas and drove my 2013 Prius all the way. I brought it in to these guys for a much needed oil change and service and I have to say that I have never had a better experience. These are genuinely two of the most friendly and professional guys I have ever met. Not only did they do an incredible and timely job on my car while I waited, they also chatted about the area and pointed is in the direction of some incredible restaurants. After doing their diagnostics test we received photos and a video of what was going on, along with an easy to understand break down of what work needed to be done. Their customer service is also through the roof--something we have found lacking in other shops. Fixed my suspension in my driveway. The mechanic was very diligent in explaining what he fixed. Thankfully it was just the bushings, which were visibly worn out. I felt like the price was right and really appreciated not going through the upsell I normally get when I take my car to the shop. read more

I was disappointed with their service and how management responded to complaint. I requested an oil change and headlight bulb replacement the day before, told them all the make and model and what I needed done at least a day before the appointment, specifically noted that it being a Subaru, the headlight is very difficult to replace, and recommending they check YouTube videos for instructions on how. When the mechanic shows up, I needed to ask to get a price estimate, rather than him having it ready to do as soon as he got there, or even better if they could email that information when scheduling the appointment. Guy tells me $80 for both jobs. When it's done, I go outside and he bills me for $140. They were surprised that it needed extra oil, and book labor cost for the bulb was something like $60. Now when he initially said $80, I at first thought that was just for the light, and I told him if it was that much, forget it, I'll do it myself. He said no, it's for the whole job. Then, I told him not to leave until I start the car and make sure everything is OK (he didn't suggest it), and the oil pressure light is on. Turns out he broke the sensor, disconnected it, something like that. To his credit, he drove it back to his shop and fixed it at no additional charge, though it took more than an additional hour. Fortunately, in this case I had the time to spare. While he was out, I emailed the boss about the price difference. To his credit, the boss brought my car back himself and tried to patch things up, refunded me $40, but that still only brings the total to $100, still $20 over initial quote, took more than twice as long as expected, and no credit for my trouble that he broke something. He said they are new and trying to build a positive reputation, but actions don't back that up. There's no excuse for not having am accurate quote up front, and the least you can do is fully honor your quote when you make a mistake like that. read more

On a trip to Cape Cod from Pittsburgh, our air conditioner went out. We were planning to stay over in Poughkeepsie Friday night anyway so around I started calling places in town to see if anyone could help us out--this was at 4:00 pm on Friday afternoon. I called a few other places places and was told it's too late to get parts or they are not open on Saturday. When I called Bolt, Adam immediately called around to find the part I told him we needed--a compressor. Within a few minutes, he called me back to say he found it and offered to pick up the car at our hotel first thing in the morning. Saturday morning he met me at the hotel and took the car to begin the repair. He called/texted several times to update the progress. Unfortunately, the AC was more damaged than either of us thought. Adam was very honest and upfront about what he found and was apologetic for not being able to fix it before we had to get to Cape Cod. He even wrote an email for me to give to another mechanic explaining what he found and what should be done to finish the job. Because I was so impressed with the service, I made it a point to stop again in Poughkeepsie on the return trip so Adam could have a chance to finish the job. We stayed in contact through the week while he and his staff further researched the issue. He called mid-week to tell me he found a solution and once again made plans to pick up the car at the hotel on Saturday morning. After replacing an additional part, the AC was fixed. I have never had an experience with a mechanic that made such an effort to help--especially in a last minute, emergency situation that we found ourselves. Adam's communication and genuine concern is something you will not find when dealing with almost any other mechanic. I only wish there was a Bolt Mechanics in Pittsburgh. Poughkeepsie is lucky to have a business like this one! read more

I totally thought they were going to steal my car---I mean really, this seemed too good to be true! And usually that means that it is...but not this time--Pick up and Drop off!!!! They bought my car back with all the work done, and very reasonable prices--I've been driving it about a week and everything is so much smoother--I had them do a NYS inspection-put on new tires, align and balance. They gave it a tune up and transmission flush (sent me a pic of the genuine honda transmission fluid I insisted on--how cool is that?) and checked the brakes. (they didn't find a problem with the brakes...imagine that !?) I am so excited--an honest mechanic--who does excellent work--who will pick up and drop off your car!!!! So awesome!! Long story short: I was interested in buying a used car off a friend's grandma. The car had been sitting in a garage for over 3 years, which could lead to a number of problems. Spoke to Adam at Bolt. He completely understood my situation - I only was going to buy the car if it could be brought back to life for a reasonable amount of money. His communication was clear and forthright. I really felt like I could trust him. No work was done unless I fully understood why it was needed and unless I expressly approved of it. He didn't do or recommend any services that he easily could've charged me for; instead he only did the things that were vital. The guys at Bolt have been extraordinarily helpful, and have shown exemplary work - just last night I was stranded in the middle of Main St. in the dark. I called up Adam on his cell and he took care of everything - for the same cost of a tow truck and in shorter time than I've experienced with Redl's towing in the past, these guys showed up to my exact location, put on the spare, drove my car and me back to the garage (and then me back to my house), ordered and replaced the tire with a match of the old one, and brought it back directly to my door in less than 20 hours. These people are awesome! My son is in Hyde Park in college, and we live in Chicago. He has a car on his own for the first time, so when it broke down we were a bit nervous about finding a good mechanic that wouldn't take advantage of him. As a college student who isn't from the area I am always very wary of taking my car to the mechanic since it's pretty easy to be taken advantage of. My 2000 jeep's check engine light came on, on a Saturday, and they were one of the few shops in the area that was open so I decided to bring my car here after getting the code read at auto zone. Adam and Justin are amazing and really went the extra mile to make sure that I had a great experience. I was in and out in an hour and spent the whole time talking with them and they are just overall cool guys. It was nice to go to a mechanic where they genuinely care about the customer and their experience instead of the quick buck. I brought my car in for service. It came back smoking under the hood. They broke my coolant hose while reparing my car n gave it back 2 me like that. Then take it back 2 fix n my car comes back with an expensive piece missing off my vehicle. Like someobe stole it off my truck while parked. N there biz is in smack right in the ghetto. N of course no ones knows what happend but im stuck with the short end of the stick. N i dont own a cheap vehicle either. I own a Range Rover. I Should have just taken it to the Dealer. Completely unapologetic n irresponsible. Not ever goin back there again. Enjoy the money. Wont be getting a RED CENT MORE!!!! read more
