You want an honest review? It's your typical over priced indie urban-outfitters esc. little Thai town coffee shop. It's like most other coffee shops in LA. Gets the job done, but nothing necessarily special. The coffee is okay; very under sweetened, and Starbucks PRICE adjacent. The food was GOOD, and they had quite the little variety to choose from. Vibes are incredibly chill, and the baristas seemed chill as well. Convenient, and nice that there seems to be some different foods for once that aren't all like Starbuck's plastic doll food. I just wasn't aware going in, nor did they say, that it seems like they make you the STRONG base and you do the rest of the work to make the drink. Avocado toast was good perfectly toasted no frills just very simple but with fresh ingredients. Earl gray cold brew was excellent and not overly bitter while the earl gray flavor didn't overpower the coffee. The inside is very nice almost like a pub combined with the very family like service and really really nice outdoor seating I can imagine it's a great local spot for everyday dining. read more

With a name like that and rainbow colors flying, I thought maybe I had stumbled onto a new gay-owned or gay-centric café. Sorry to disappoint, fellow gays--Bolt isn't a queer space, but from what I could tell, it's definitely gay-friendly. It was early afternoon, and I was pleased to see they serve breakfast all day--always a win in my book. I ordered a breakfast burrito, then went to find a seat. That's where things got a little...different. Inside, every table was taken--not with diners chatting or enjoying food, but with people locked into laptops, sitting quietly along the walls or in booths. The vibe was less brunch-with-friends and more solo-study-session. Think library silence, not café buzz. So much for striking up light conversation over coffee. There are two outdoor seating areas--a sidewalk setup in front and a small patio in the back. I chose the sidewalk. Even outside, laptops were out and silence reigned. I ate in quiet company. The breakfast burrito itself had a nice twist: some green peppers added a pop of flavor. Not jalapeños, just something milder with a touch of brightness. It wasn't groundbreaking, but it was satisfying. After I finished, I couldn't resist grabbing a few baked goods to go--a little reward for enduring the ultra-serene atmosphere. Bottom line: Bolt in Hollywood is a clean, calm, and laptop-loving café with solid food and an all-day breakfast menu. It's gay-friendly but not a gay hangout. I escaped to Bolt and got a really good breakfast burrito with sausage. also got an apple muffin which tasted good with a coffee. Coffee was descent. Flavor was kinda unique. Service was nice. The food was good but I felt it was overpriced. I ordered a kale cesar salad, avocado toast, and a grapefruit juice and paid $40! The salad: it was on the menu as a "kale Cesar salad with chicken for $13.99. I asked them to remove the chicken. When I got the salad it was kale, walnuts, and quinoa tossed in vinaigrette. Not a Cesar salad at all! The toast: for $13.99 I expected a lot more that literal avocado on toast... my friend ordered a sandwich that had the same bread, avocado, chicken, bacon, and a side salad. I stopped in for coffee, lunch, and WiFi on a recent trip to Thai Town. I was happy to find a queer-owned space to visit during Pride Month. The space was well-populated without being crowded or too loud. The staff were friendly, and my order came out quickly. I enjoyed my iced coffee, and the rosemary chicken sandwich was tasty. A nice recharging day is even better at Bolt, an East Hollywood local staple for food, friends and friendly service. Had a cold brew and iced coffee late lunch of sorts with some local friends in the neighborhood as well as a special friend I've known for way too long visiting. We all arrived within a few minutes of each other and were able to enjoy great music, ambiance, laughs, eats, clean everything and more on the patio in back, which is beautiful and pretty shady with so much green life, small plants and hints of natural lighting. I typically have only stopped in once or twice in the past for a quick pick me up, so it was nice to take more of it all in. The main entrance is pretty cool with some tables out front for one, two or ever groups and a cool pride flag flying high and proud #SupportSmallandLocal #SupportLGBTQOwned #HappyPrideMonth When you enter there's a register to the right with yum pastries/baked goods, morning or afternoon favs and a display of their wine selection... Yes wine! To the left where a line might start to form, but rarely lingers is cold bottled and canned beverages. Anything from juice and water to kombucha and cbd. You can take your pick of long shared seating, limited bar seating or booths inside or venture beyond. They have menus at the register for your viewing pleasure as well as some well placed QR code ones throughout. For food it's practical breakfast/brunch/lunch stuff, nothing to wild, but all very enjoyable. My avocado toast with chili flakes was a 10/10 not too toasted, abundant amounts of avocado and beautiful flavor. My friends had a bolt bowl, loaded to the max and I considered something additional though some modifications might have been needs as they have loads of vegetarian options, but require some adjustments for their vegan ones. A lot of veggie and even gluten free options (preference) by default. Bolt is more than food being a local coffee shop/cafe... It's about the experience: 80s rock, one hit wonders + 90s slow jams on the sound system, free Wi-fi making it a great work space, excellent customer service from some of the coolest gents and the company you enjoy it with even if that company is yourself. It's neighborhood bliss in EaHo... Street parking surprisingly easy around this block both off E Hollywood Blvd and on residential streets. Definitely hope to bolt back in soon! read more

I usually don't ever do a food review but I went here for the first time this weekend and disappointment is an understatement. The chicken bowl was extremely bland and the portion was ridiculously small for $15. The breakfast burger was straight out of a Starbucks coffee. Super nice staff. The breakfast pasta was bomb as well as the blueberry pancakes. Bacon was tasty and not too salty. Nice homey feel to the place even though the ceiling was crazy high. I had a potato chip chocolate chip cookie (I think that's what it was called) as well and it was a little crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. I'm not a fan of crispy cookies so I was happy about the chewiness. The english muffin was ok, I don't think I would get that again but I was overall really pleased with my post-walk breakfast :) Looking forward to coming here again when I'm in SoCal. It's been several days since I went to Bolt, and I am still thinning about how amazing their food/desserts/latte were! Parking: Street parking (metered) on Hollywood Blvd. Employee: There were 2 ladies up front. But the taller lady stole my heart! She was very personable, friendly and helpful. Not afraid of facing her guests and didn't feel fake. She was taking care of all of her guests in the restaurant all by herself. Very instinctive! I never had to ask for anything. She either told me before I needed things or she would given things to me that I needed when I was there: like my to go box. She was the opposite of lazy. She didn't just give me a box, but she gauged what size of box that I needed for the amount of left over that I had. I need you to know that I appreciate this SOOO MUCH! And this is coming from someone who is in the world of F&B my whole 40+ years of life. Kudos! I'll ask her name the next time I see her. Brick + Mortar: Amazing retro design. However, I have some suggestions: 1. to figure out more to cover their storage room on the floor above the dining area. 2. to keep clean their utensils' cans that they place on the tables. In our table's utensil's container, I saw rusts dusts in the can. And they places the clean utensils with the fork + knives side in the can. I figured out the rust-dust because I cleaned my fork with the napkin that were in it, too, and I saw the rust-dust in the napkin. The same apply to the coffee condiment's station. 3. to move the trash bin that is located next to the coffee condiment's station a little further away. Only because currently it is placed right next to 1 of the dining table that unfortunately I had to sit next to. Food: ordered specials on the menu. Meatloaf Sandwich. Amazing combination in this sandwich. Not your usual meatloaf in mind. I'd describe it like: herb-meatloaf breakfast frittata in between well-cook slices of toasted bread. Chilaquiles Perfectly made and not soggy. Sauce tasted tangy and a little spicy combined with a good enough of cheese. Regular Latte. My latte was made perfectly. I've tasted latte from all over the world. This place made it to my top 5 latte to go to. Next time I need to ask them for the kind of coffee beans that they are using. I think that was the key! Red Velvet Cookie Baked throughly in the inside and a little crisp on the outside. Great Levain style cookie for sure! And yes. I'll be back soon! read more

Bolt is a solid breakfast place in the EaHo area that is worth a stop for a bite or a cup of coffee. During a recent stay with friends, Bolt was within walking distance from our AirBnB so it was the perfect first stop to start our day. This also happened to be during the CicLAvia event in Hollywood so the streets were packed with people. Thankfully, Bolt is a pretty big space with plenty of open seating and even a patio outside for outdoor dining. When we got in, there was someone who was ready to get our coffee orders started while we were deciding on food. I settled on the Bolt Bowl which was great! If you are looking for a low carb option, this is it! Made up of spicy sausage with roasted broccolini and tomatoes topped with two over easy eggs I was definitely satisfied after eating. I also ordered a cold brew coffee which was perfect on a hot day. In terms of service, they were very helpful and quick. I would say parking may be a bit of a challenge, but there is plenty of metered parking in the area. Overall, Bolt is a great place to chill and have breakfast in the EaHO area! read more

The hood isn't the prettiest but this is a very cool coffee house in many ways. First the menu is very nice and dares to be different in a very good way. We just ran in for some coffee and snacks to go but all of the good looked terrific. Breakfast sandwich, breakfast taco (!), breakfast burrito, chilaquiles, baked goods, etc. We did try the avocado toast which was terrific. The bread was delicious and it came with a HUGE chunk of fresh avocado on it, with red pepper flakes on top. It was great. We also tried a cheddar biscuit and it was fresh and flavorful. No complaints on the iced coffee drinks. The interior decor is super cool. Someone put some serious thought and effort into this place from the tables to the barstools. They also have an absolutely charming patio out back. Metered street parking. Watch those signs so you don't get a ticket. read more

Cold Brew: 5 stars great cold brew coffee. What more can I say? Service is 5 stars, and I felt a very warm and welcoming vibe before I even stepped foot in this place. The folks at Bolt sell more than just coffee. Breakfast, wine and pastries are also available for those who like. I would come back for the coffee alone, but I am intrigued to try some of their food items as well. Apparently I chose wisely, the Breakfast Sandwich with Sausage was quite delicious, but I learned coming here after 2pm only leads to disappointment if you want eggs benedict, pancakes, or most other breakfast items. Parked on a side street behind the restaurant and boom, there we were, four of us altogether, Bolt first-timers. I needed more coffee and when I got a glimpse of the house-made Nutter Butter I had to get one. The approving nod of the guy taking the orders was reassuring. It's a rich concoction of fresh peanut butter cookies and creamy, doctored peanut butter filling. Pretty rich and filling by itself. Online I liked the looks of the eggs benedict but they were out for the day, which forced me to select a Breakfast Sammie on a house-made English Muffin. Chose sausage and a drip pour coffee. The gf chose Corned Beef Hash, not her original plan, Dora H. went with the Breakfast Pasta and Arthur decided on the daily special: Chiquillas. Coffee is good, fruity medium roast style and the latte was well made too. We all loved the setting inside. The food came up and while the Chiquillas looked impressive, Arthur soon discovered that the chips were very stale. He's a picky eater but that's a decisive criticism. Dora liked her pasta dish, so 50-50 for them. The gf's Corned Beef was on the dry side, I sampled a bit. Her eggs were cooked perfectly to order, but the Brussel Sprouts were a bit bland. Conversely, I thoroughly enjoyed the English Muffin, very fresh and perfect for the melted cheese and sausage. Put some Chulula hotsauce on there and voila! It was very hot so I proceeded with caution. Verdict: the 50-50 ratio of success to disappointment doesn't bode well for another visit. While other tables' food, especially sandwiches, looked pretty good from a distance, I doubt that we venture here as a destination again. If I lived close by I'd probably get periodic breakfast or lunch sandwiches. Overall, 3.55/5, enough to round up to 4-stars, but just barely. read more

On the outskirts of Thai town, and south of Franklin Blvd. You'll see a little street sprinkled with small eateries and store fronts. Amongst them you will find Bolt. It's a handsome building, with beautiful marquee letters that display the cafes name. The interior is just as nice. The rustic industrial feel, with tall ceilings gives it a wide open space feel. Loved the interior design and appreciated the cute little outdoor patio in the back. They had a variety of breakfast foods and lunch options on their menu. I ordered the breakfast pasta, and my husband ordered the chilaquiles. Both looked promising and we were very excited to try the food. My breakfast pasta was pretty good. Reminded me of an omelette with bits of pasta mixed in. The bits of bacon and sausage were delicious. Though it didn't look it, it was actually quite filling. The chilaquiles (which were on the special menu) on the other hand were absolutely horrible. Not at all what a chilaquiles is supposed to be. Horrible chips that rivaled those from a gas station. It lacked the beans, the flavor, and everything about it tasted like it came out of a can. Seems the dishes here are a bit of a gamble, so pick wisely. It's a beautiful place to spread out, study or meet up for some pastries or coffee. But not quite sure the food is up to par just yet. read more

We were staying nearby Bolt and were extremely lucky to find this place for breakfast. What a fantastic place. It is very casual. You place your order at the door and then grab a table. Make sure to check out the baked goods. There is a wide selection. I just had tea, but the people I was with had coffee and really liked it. For food, I started with the EAHO breakfast (three eggs--which I had over easy, sausage patty, hashbrowns, and toast. It was outstanding. I loved the potatoes and the sourdough toast. My partner had the avocado toast and loved that also. Fortunately, I saved room for a chocolate cookie to eat later. This was really good also.
