It has been a while since I had Indian food, but my girlfriend said this was the place to go. We started off with the Samosas which were big and stuffed with seasoned veggies. Then we got some classics like the Butter Chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala which were both rich and aromatic. Serving the curry over rice with a little bit of garlic naan made for a great bite. I LOVE this place. The food is absolutely amazing and the portion sizes are generous. I have been in person (beautiful inside and great customer service) and ordered take-out several times, and have never been disappointed. I lose all table manners when I'm eating this food i.e. licking sides of containers, hardly breathing due to shoveling food in my mouth, and using naan to sop up every bit of sauce (I tend to get curry or butter chicken)...you get the point. As an Indian-American, finding the best Indian restaurants are always a struggle. However, Bollywood Bistro takes the cake as my favorite spot. The restaurant is dimly lit and always has popular Bollywood songs playing in the background above the bar area. I appreciate how the branding stays on point with the Classic Bollywood theme with photos of stars ranging from Raj Kapoor, Madhubala, and Nargis Dutt. Starting off with the Samosa and assorted Pakoras are always a great option. My go-to's are the spicy Laal Mas (Rajasthani Style Lamb Curry), Butter Chicken, Paneer Saag with Cheese, and the many varieties of Naan (rosemary, garlic, and cheese are especially delicious!). As for drinks, I highly recommend the Mojito, Strawberry Margarita, as well as the Mango & Between the Sheets Martini. All are strong, fruity, and pair well with the Indian spices on the menu. Not to mention, the wait staff is quick and provides great recommendations. Haven't been to Bollywood in quite some time but we stopped by for lunch b/c we remember how great the buffet was prior to Covid. They have an awesome off menu lunch item platter which offers 5 or 6 different dishes served in small dishes along with rice and naan. You can pick a protein such as chicken, lamb, seafood and you get different options (i.e. Chicken Tandoori, Butter Chicken along with the veggie items like spinach, beans, etc). Like a buffet but w/o the buffet. I felt compelled to write an updated review as everything was so tasty. Great service as well. Amazing- 5 stars! The service is super nice and the food is definitely the best Indian food in Virginia! (I haven't tried any other Indian places in Virginia- yet- but from my first bite I knew this one was super good!) The chicken Tikka Masala was super flavorful and good along with another chicken dish we tried called chicken Tandoori. The garlic Naan bread also is really good. I recommend dipping the Naan bread into the Tikka Masala sauce! It was enough food to have the whole table eat! (enough food for 3 hungry people) They also play some Bollywood-inspired television on a TV near the back of the restaurant, near the bar area. Overall, it was so good that we came 3 times for dinner out of the 6 days we were in DC. 3 days of eating dinner here? Yep! It was that good. Pretty solid Indian food but not quite as good as other places in the area (like Banjara). I noticed that their takeout sizes were also smaller than other Indian restaurants. However the dishes I tried were good! The samosas were huge and cooked well. The butter chicken was tasty and the chicken pieces were not hard or dry. We ordered the Paneer Makhani and Laal Maas, both were stunning and perfectly spiced. If you've spent time in India (or anywhere that appreciates bold, flavorful food), you'll appreciate that they're happy to tailor the heat to your preference. Be sure to try the chutneys and any of their breads. All are excellent. I wasn't drinking tonight, but they offer a solid selection of Indian beers and a decent wine list (okay, maybe not ideal with Indian food, but for those who think it is, you're covered). Came for a weekend lunch as a group of three. We each got the off-menu thali, one seafood, one lamb, and one chicken. (The only thali version we were missing from our table was the vegetarian option.) Each platter came with rice, naan, a crispy bread, a grilled/broiled meat dish (salmon, ground lamb, or bone-in chicken), a meat dish in sauce (shrimp, lamb chunks, or boneless chicken breast), a bean/lentil dish, a spinach-based stewed vegetable dish, cucumber raita, and a rice pudding for dessert. We also got two mango lassis. Everything was good, especially the fluffy naan. The sauce for the shrimp and chicken was on the sweet side for our tastes, though it worked better with the chicken than the shrimp. Also, nothing was spicy (it was spiced but didn't really have chile heat), which was ok though not particularly expected. It was plenty of food for us and a good price for a lunch deal. The restaurant decor definitely goes with the Bollywood theme. We were seated below a poster made up of portrait photos of actors. So one person spent a few minutes on their phone figuring out what movie they'd recognized one of the faces from. read more

We found a fantastic place for lunch after visiting Great Falls national park. Bollywood Bistro is just a short drive from the park if you're looking for some Indian food in the vicinity. We rolled in a little after lunch so the place was not packed at all. For sharing we ordered a platter of assorted naan for dipping and an order of aam palak chaat. I really did enjoy their aam palak chaat. In fact it reminds me of the one I had at Rasika minus the price tag that it came with. This place is definitely more affordable and tastes just as good! I had the butter chicken and a mango lassi. The portions here are extremely generous and everyone ended up taking home leftovers. I would highly suggest that you bring your appetite or order family style so that you'll have a chance to try every dish. Service was really good. We stopped by Bollywood Bistro recently for dinner on a weekday. The restaurant is located in Great Falls Center mall. There was ample parking that day. The restaurant was quite busy and we luckily had made reservations ahead of time. The decor and ambiance was hip and inviting. We were seated right away and service was quick. They have a full bar and decent selection of beer, including Indian beer. We ordered Aam Palak Chat for appetizer. The dish was a nice take on the traditional dish. For main course we ordered the following: Chicken Reshmi Kabob - the kabob was cooked well and was soft and the chutney on the side went well with the kabobs. Goat Masala - good dish and had a bit of kick to it. Tandoori Roti - fresh and tasted good. For dessert we ordered Gulab Jamun that was not overly sweet and was a good dish to share. I've had my eye on Bollywood Bistro for quite a while. A friend told me how much she liked the date stuffed naan---and she had me there. All this time I thought we would have to go to Fairfax to get it. Then a "Clipper" magazine came in the mail and had an ad for the one in Great Falls (which I later found out that it's been there since 2014). We decided to order food from there this past weekend. I went to their website and it appeared that they did their own deliveries. We called, all ready to place our order, and asked if they would deliver to Reston. They asked for our address, then said "no". My husband was already to give up but then I noticed that when you google them, info on the page said that the usual delivery sites will pick up and deliver food from there. We clicked on Door Dash and the menu popped right up. Since we had looked at Bollywood's menu on their page, we knew what we wanted. Then we noticed a disconnect with the menu on on their page as opposed to what Door Dash had. For example, the restaurant said they had a scallop and shrimp biryani but Door Dash had shrimp biryani. Some of the other menu items had descriptions that also didn't quite line up. What we ordered --- A tandoor dish--- Kesari Chicken Tikka, a vegetarian dish--- Dal Tadka, 2 rice dishes--- vegetable pilaf and shrimp biryani, some naans--- tomato cheese naan, dates naan and garlic naan. All this food we figured would give us 2 meals. It ended up giving us 3 meals, actually. I was impressed with the Kesari chicken tikka. It consisted of: "chicken breast/saffron tincture/mint sauce". It also came with a side of yogurt. The chicken was tender and moist plus it was spicy but not unbearably so. The mint sauce and yogurt complimented it very nicely. It also came with a side of rice. The vegetable rice pilaf portion was huge! I had that the next day and there was enough for yet another day. The veggie selection was impressive and generous. However, this dish was extremely spicy to the point that it was on the edge of totally masking the other flavors. We both enjoyed the naans. The date naan lived up to the hype and our expectations. Although I only ordered one, two came with the order. We both agreed that it had a very nice sweetness to it without being overly sweet. My husband really enjoyed the garlic naan saying that the garlic flavor came through clearly. I liked the tomato cheese one. It had cheddar cheese in it, however there was hardly any tomato in it. We also ended up with 2 plain naans---no complaints about that. My husband liked his shrimp biryani but he, like me, thought it was also on the too spicy side. Still, he was pleased at the generous portion of shrimp. He liked the Dal Tadka much better. It consisted of: "yellow lentils/roasted garlic/Kashmiri red chilies". There was one red chili sitting at the top of the lentils. When he warmed this up the next day, he removed the chili and said it was a mild dish. With some rice, it made a good meal. He said he would have it again. Be aware that if you order food here, the portions of some entrees are huge---especially the pilaf/biryani ones. We would order from them again. I suspect that they really don't want it known that they work with delivery services because it costs them money when these services are used. However, they left us no choice but to use Door Dash, which didn't have a problem bringing the food to our address. read more

Our first visit to Bollywood Bistro which is the sister to the restaurant in Fairfax. Located off Route 7 and close to Reston, Sterling & Great Falls in a small shopping center. 5 adults and 2 children for buffet lunch. They joined a table for us and the buffet was pretty standard with veg and non-veg items. A little spicy with some items. Nice table service bringing naans which were fresh. For dessert halwa and fruit but we did ask for some kheer and since our family knew the owner, we were served some really nice warm kheer. Very reasonable. Looked like quite a few people but the owner mentioned scare of the virus has kept business down which is a shame as restaurants like this deserve to be visited and kept going. read more

The paneer is great. At some other restaurants the number of squares is small, but there were probably 17-20 which was awesome- it made two solid meals. My husband ordered a curry chicken meal and although the sauce was great, the white chicken was a bit dry and he decided not to take his leftovers home. I order from here often and usually get the butter chicken and haven't had that been my normal experience with their chicken. Dining in was great- fantastic and fast service. I've been to this location twice. It's in a strip mall, but the decor and ambience of the inside is the best I've seen from an Indian restaurant in the area. The 1st time I went here was in a group of 7, we ordered off the menu. The food was fresh, tasty, and presented well. The 2nd time was more their weekend lunch buffet. The lunch buffet presentation was perfect; clean and well organized. However there were not as many vegetarian options. They also had tamarind and mint chutneys but no pakoras or samosas, so it was confusing what to eat that with. Although the food was fresh, warm and well maintained we all left feeling unfulfilled. Despite that I gave them 5 stars because all of the staff is so polite, professional, and attentive. Customer service, presentation and ambience is where they excel better than any other Indian restaurant in the area. I was in the area to give away all my "stuff" to Goodwill, which I should have done years ago but I stupidly decided to hang on to it instead... none of this "stuff" is even remotely interesting to me any longer (tastes evolve). However, this dining experience is still pretty good - great food and the decor feels modern. I like that they under-salt their entrees and provide a salt shaker on the table. Great woodsy area not too far from McLean. Nice sunny day! Brings back fond memories of Great Falls NP and Sky Meadows State Park. I was recently recommended to try Bollywood bistro from a guy at work so I decided to give it a try with my boyfriend and we were met with such a beautiful restaurant inside. pakoras 4/5which were good and the green sauce for it was amazing! Mango lassis- 3/5 their lassi was on the thinner side, I'm used to having thicker lassis with more of a yogurt taste to it? Shrimp briyani- 5/5 it was awesome! Our waitress did mention that it' has a kick to it and Asked if it was okay with us. She was right, but the perfect amount of spice! Buttered chicken- 4/5 also really good! Came on a whim while we were passing through the area on Friday around lunchtime, and to our surprise, it turned out to be a buffet! For the ridiculously low price of $8.95/plate, we filled ourselves with chicken tikka masala, paneer tikka masala, saag, vegetable biriyani, tandoori chicken, chickpeas, and naan. My friends have raved about Bollywood bistro and I didn't understand why. Indian is not one of the cuisines I crave for, but I'll try it every now and then. I finally went to try and decided on the Great Falls location. Upon entering, it looks like a good size restaurant and the decor is just ornate. There is a section of the restaurant where the buffet is set up nicely. The area was well maintained and food seemed to be replenished often enough. They offer many different kinds of chicken and sides. The fish curry and butter chicken were my favorites! The bread at the buffet section was also very tasty, I believe it's fried. Everything just had so much flavor! But be warned! You will leave in a food coma. I was full the rest of the day. I was not a huge fan of the dessert puddings, just not for me. Something to try though! You cannot beat the price! So cheap for quality food. Service was also so fast! Our waters were always quickly refilled and our dirty dishes quickly taken away. read more

I love spicy Indian food! Bollywood Bistro makes delicious dishes. And with friendly service. My absolute favorite dish here is chicken korma (I ask for extra spicy). This dish is creamy cashew nut based sauce with chunky chicken meats. So nutty and flavorful! We really like their scallop biryani, so good! Wish there were slightly more scallops in it but this dish is really satisfying as much as the chicken korma. If you want more of a veggie dish I recommend Makhan Palak. It is creamy spinach and you choose either cheese or mushrooms. Their Shank Vindaloo is delicious as well. The meat is so tender and it falls off the bone. And sauce is very flavorful. And with garlic naan. I've tried other dishes, all pretty good but chicken korma definitely is my "go to" dish. read more

Went there for a quick pre movie dinner with my daughter. Had a good experience. Service was good. The ambiance is really nice. The food was a mixed bag. Starting with the chicken 65 as an appetizer. The tase was good but the chicken was a little over cooked.. For the main course we ordered chicken malabar and malai kofta. The chicken malabar was out standing, excellent flavor profile. Was a star dish. The malai kofta was good, not the best we have had. No complaints. We were in a hurry to get to the movie so our experience may be a little off. I was kinda disappointed in this place. The Josh Rogan lamb was extremely gamey and sauce watery. The lobster bisque was on the sweeter side for my taste. The black lentil dal was just ok. While my favourite is still the Street Food Cafe in DC for the best Indian in the area, I've just discovered this lovely brunch about a half hour's journey from my house. While it does require driving, the quality is outstanding and the two visits I've paid to the restaurant have demonstrated the consistency in freshness, VARIETY (so many Indian buffets just put out the exact same fare everyday) such as one day samosas another day something else and Dhal that isn't just the same yellow dhal every time. This second visit they had a different offering of Biryani and kidney bean dhal. I only wish when I said "crispy naan" that it came out crispy. While delicious and toasted, not as crispy as I'd like. They also never ask me what I'd like to drink besides water, so I settle for water and save calories even though I'd been entertaining the idea of a nice Indian Beer. Saved the money and the calories. All in all a FIVE STAR experience. And the price is ridiculously affordable. The restaurant is impeccably clean and the servers professional and friendly. So it's Bollywood from now on until I find myself in the environs of Street Food again read more
