I went on a weekday afternoon and they had a steady stream of customers but only one guy manning everything so service was not the fastest. When this restaurant first opened they were charging for the same plate $15 and then they went to $25 after a few years which I thought was pretty high for the food we were getting but $33 is just plain greedy. And the owner, what happened to him? he used to be such a friendly guy and now he is just an angry man. The waitress never went back to check on us and refill our water after taking our order. We ordered first a medium pot of chai/tea. The owner, Assad (sp?), told us later when we asked that they add mint, dried mint, and sage to the pot. The tea was so aromatic and warming. We each had several glass cups -- with added sugar. To share, we had their mixed grill. There were 3 skewers -- one chicken, one beef, and one kofta kebab (ground meat). The meats were served over rice with a bit of salad on the side. Small containers of salad dressing and tehina were on the plate, too. I added some sumac (my favorite lemony spice) to everything. The food was very good and we left not a crumb. We were surprised to learn that the gentleman we'd previously chatted with paid for our dessert before he left! We got kunefah (kenefe/knaffe) -- my husband's favorite. It was nice and cheesy in the middle. And then as we were leaving, the owner gifted us a traditional special Ramadan "sweet" pastry. We were too full to try it there, so we brought it home for later. He said it has walnuts inside. We look forward to returning here for more middle eastern delights. As well as the butcher and milk man used to provide similar services. Living in the U.S, such services would be costly. Not to worry, running errands around town is not to bad. I get my meat and vegetables etc. from this grocery store. I drive 40 minutes from Boca but its worth it. The owners are a very nice couple from Bangladesh and go out of their way to give the best products. Example: I always want boneless chicken in cubes, in different packets etc and they fulfill all my requests in meats and vegetables. They have a fresh vegetable section, desi desserts(meethi), naan packets, masalas(spices) etc. The store is medium sized and stocked very nicely. Too bad my groceries are not delivered to my home, however the workers at this store always carry my groceries to my car no matter how busy they are. And that's a very nice gesture.
