Rob is nothing short of amazing! He is such an artist, and truly takes pride in his work. I went to him for a cut, balayage, blowout and style. He took the time to look at pictures of what I wanted, strategized and explained what he was doing and why. The results? Fabulous hair! Rob was so attentive and made sure I was comfortable throughout while he worked his magic. My hair has so much dimension and bounce to it. Go to him, you won't be disappointed. The salon itself is clean and beautiful, and the environment is laid back. They offer complimentary coffee, tea, water and some pastries. I was looking for a hair salon in the Morris County area for about two and a half years. Recommendations pointed me to Bollo Salon and Michelle, a stylist there. I literally just walked in the door of my house after the appointment and sat down to write this review. The staff was all so lovely, the owner came in to check on me before and after my service. Now Michelle, she was so personable and talented. For once, a stylist listened to what I was looking for in color, style and cut and executed it. Even my significant other noticed and loved the look. I can't say it enough- I will only go here for my events! Jessica did my wedding hair and moms hair for my wedding and then earlier in the same year did my moms wedding hair and my hair for her wedding! I travel about an hour to get to the salon because I just refuse to settle with mediocrity ! You need to try out bollo ASAP! Also make up was done by Alexa both times- phenomenal! DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON. Having recently moved to the areas, I thought i would try it. I got a color and in 3 weeks my hair began to break. The sides, even my bangs. It's been just devastating. I went back for the owner to attempt to 'fix' it and he did re-color it (twice) and trimmed it (not very well) and he charged me $165! i was sure he was not going to charge me but he did. I told him i was floored and he said 'you think it was our fault you had breakage?' YES! if my hair was so damaged that after one color i had such bad breakage, perhaps they shouldn't have colored it to begin with. He said 'how about this? next time it's on me (after i already angrily paid)' I told him I'd never go back. DO NOT GO THERE. read more

I was hesitant to write this review being that I barely ever give reviews, but I decided to go ahead and do it. My usual hairdresser was fully booked and I needed a cut really bad so I saw this Groupon deal and decided to give it a chance. When I called to schedule the appointment I asked the woman who would be cutting my hair and she said only one person, Rob, handles Groupon customers. This already seemed like a red flag to me. She said he was really good and has been there for 6 months. I still went ahead and made the appointment since I had already paid for the Groupon. I can see why only he does Groupons. I have very short hair (long bob with an angle towards the front). I told him how I wanted it cut and he went to cutting. After cutting my hair he said he would do some detailing once he dried it. I'm sitting there looking in the mirror and notice the entire right side of my hair is literally an inch longer than the left. When I bring this up to him he says "It is longer isn't it? Sorry I'm right handed. I went to so and so school in Manhattan so you're in good hands." Clearly I was not. I was so shocked that he didn't even notice and I had to tell him. He went on to blow dry and straighten my hair. I usually have my hair pin straight when I do straighten it, but he curled the ends inward so when the cut was done, I couldn't tell if anything was uneven. He called his boss over to show him my cut and everyone was so impressed with it. Like I said because the ends were curled in, you couldn't see the horrible uneven cutting that I discovered the next day after I washed and straightened my hair myself. I've never had such an uneven, choppy haircut in my life. There are some pieces of hair longer than the other and it looks horrible. Now, thanks to Rob, I have to wait for my hair to grow out a bit more before going to my usual hairdresser to have it fixed. I'm not saying don't go to this salon, but avoid getting a Groupon. read more

Rob is the bomb! He finds out exactly what you are looking for and makes sure you are happy. I absolutely loved my cut and blowout. They have coffee and bagels and other little snacks should you have any wait, though I did not experience a wait time. Regularly pricing is probably on the pricier side but there are some amazing deals available online. I have another blowout scheduled for next week. Can't wait! read more

For coloring and conditioning I have paid 145 dollars... I was expecting something really good as this is a NYC price... no not at all, after the coloring they didn't even apply toner even I have told them that usually champagne color toner I use... I was told Jessica was great with long hair and natural BLENDED layers. I came away with two, distinct layers that weren't even. After being super disappointed to find out my hair stylist left the salon I had been going to - on a whim I purchased a Groupon to Bollo Salon. I was introduced to Rob, who really took the time to ask me what I was looking for in terms of color and cut. We looked at pictures together, he gave me input, and I immediately felt comfortable - which is difficult when trusting a new hairstylist you're just meeting. I have been doing highlights in my hair since I was 16 years old (I'm in my 30's now) - and when I say this is the most amazing color of my life, I mean it. Rob is truly an artist. He did a single process to hide my nasty greys (best single process of my life - it looks perfect), and then balayage painting. My hair looks INCREDIBLE! I have received so many compliments in just the two days since getting it done. What I'm even more impressed with in terms of this salon, is the comradery of the whole staff. Everyone helps each other, gives advice. I will 100% be back. I'm actually getting married in March, so to find someone I trust with color for that is HUGE. Bollo is a really great local salon for me. I have gone to three different stylist there and have left a happy client every time. The last time I went I had a full "up-do" for a formal I attended and received more compliments on my hair than I did on my fairly expensive dress! Reasonable prices. Really nice owners. As well, the wife runs an adjoining small shop which carries outfits, jewelry, bags and accessories, which I love to browse afterwards. She has a keen eye for fashion and carries some really eclectic pieces that I haven't seen elsewhere. I purchased a beautiful hand made leather bag from there. Sophisticated style. I'm a new client who Called this morning to get a walk in appointment and was able to get one quickly. My stylist Jessica was great! I told her I wanted a fun change. We decided that due to time constraints (mine) and product features, we'd "paint" my hair some blond highlights, cut color and blowout. All were awesome! I love my haircut with layers and texture and my blowout is straight but with just enough volume! Very happy here and would totally recommend! Also, the owner made a point of coming over to greet me and introduce himself. Very nice. Cost seemed average to other salons. I went there as a new client with a disaster of a botched and growing-out layered cut -- and asked her to "fix "it! AND SHE DID! Turned my worst-ever haircut into one of my favorites. I AM SO HAPPY to have a great style now and have my hair naturally fall into it. I have contemplating if I should write this review or not... But after thinking it over I decided that I must share my opinion. I was a loyal client of this salon for 8+ years and referred many people to the establishment. I enjoyed that warm and cozy feeling that the salon had to offer and even overlooked some small unprofessional tendencies. I was a dedicated client! When that salon decided to move a few door down in the shopping plaza to a larger and renovated location, many things changed. The product lines changed multiple times, so as I began to like one- it was gone! Now, don't get to wrong I love my stylist, but it seems the owner got a big head. AND THIS IS WHERE I HAVE A MAJOR PROBLEM! --- When the salon decided to change their color line, to may I say a inferior line, I realized that my hair was the texture of a horse. I tried to repeatedly deep condition and treat the problem but the film would not come off. I then was fed up, as I have not had an issue with my hair since I have been going to this salon. I called and after a few tries to contact my busy stylist, they told me to come in and they will try to fix it. ---I came in and they first blamed me, and not the cheap color, but then fixed it enough to feel simi-normal, and the assistant asked if Id like my hair to be dried. Being that it is cold outside, Im spending my only day off to get my hair fixed. Who would not expect their hair to be dried!?? -------- The straw that broke the camels back was when I went to leave, I asked the receptionist if "i was good to go?" She then asked Steven (owner) if I had to pay. I was shocked when she came back to tell me that "YES, I have to pay, steven(owner) said" Now, don't get me wrong I am not a shy person, but with people in a salon I am not going to make a loud scene. So, I decided to pay and leave. I was nothing but pleasant in the salon, but I was livid when I left. I called the salon to let them know that it was highly unprofessional and that I will not long be returning. WHAT OWNER WOULD RATHER LOSE A CLIENT OVER $40? I guess the customer is not always right in this situation! Myself being in the industry( but not doing hair) I have a knowledge of products and would say that Im not a pro, but I do know what I am doing. I would say don't do it! read more

Under the reviews "NOT recommended" a customer talks about the help at the front desk and how she was treated even as a long term custmer for running a few minutes late. Ditto. I am updating my review to reflect the treatment that I received in spite of being a long term client for running a few minutes late. When I got there my stylist had someone in his chair so he was running behind before I got there. To act like it was my fault and to be reprimanded by the help at the front desk upon checkout, just cracks me up. How many times have I waited for my stylist because he or she was running behind. I apologized for being late as soon as I arrived - I'm talking less than 10 minutes late - and when I saw my stylist was cutting someone else's hair I was relieved because he obviously wasn't waiting for me. I am the first to take responsibility when I am wrong, but regardless, no one should have to tolerate the condescending attitude from the front desk help. I too am going to another salon and finding that the staff is much more professional. Maybe that big salon is just too big for that group. read more

Very disappointed in Bollo today. I have been a long time client of the salon, paying more than $200 plus per visit every six weeks in addition to my son and husband. I have never been late even though they have kept me waiting well over 30 minutes many times for my appointment. I have never once complained about having to wait. I made an appointment with my hairdresser Joelle who is terrific. I was stuck in traffic and called to tell them i would be 15 minutes late. The front desk girl Belinda told me that I was late and that I basically had missed my appointment. First of all, my appointment was for a color, highlight and cut so 15 minutes was not my whole appointment time. In addition, the one time that a good customer is late, you should not reprimand them or judge them. That is rude and uncalled for. I told her to just forget about it and I will find another salon. By the way, I did find another salon right down the road and they were warm and inviting and did a great job on my hair. They got a new client! Steven Bollo has to remember that the front desk is your first impression of the salon. If this woman is always there, you may lose more customers! She should take some customer service lessons before greeting anybody. There are lots of salons, you want to stand out, it starts at the front door!!! read more

very poor customer service , "what happened to the customer is always right " . Took my mother there for a manicure Christmas week , she is 87 and has Alzheimer's , mine you , I get my hair cut there , , anyway , the manicurist june did a horrible job , was on cell phone , kept going up to the desk , , she took advantage of my mother's illness, , now my mom is a beauty queen , pagent winner, so we know salons .june did a rush job , never fixed the broken nail , , still had stragely nails , in 2 days the polish was chipping off,over Christmas , I called to complain , they said nothing to her , we went the next week , new year's eve , same thing again , never fixed the broken nail , a rush job , up and down at the desk , looking for next customer , , I told her to sit and finish and she got a attitude , ,paid full price , 2 weeks in arrow , got in car , then noticed she still had broken nail , never fixed it , I called to complain , , I guess kim , the receptionist is afraid of her, nothing was done again.., my mom got in infection , the next day , called again , they did not wasn't to hear it ,, missed a few weeks , cause of snow, went at the end of January , had someone else do it & was fine , but this same day , I told june , how bad the job was , and not to touch my mother . ,she went to the owner , had the nerve to complain , that I yelled at her., the owner Steve came over to me and told me I was out of line to say it to her ,they never apolized ,, they took June's side not mine , it was tension but I dealt with it , went a few times after for my hair cut , which was great , I calles and disputed the 2 manicure charges on my credit card ,,, ,so today I called to verify my appointment , kim answered and said hold on , steve came on the phone and told me he took me off the books and that I was not welcomed in the shop . ......that is the way you treat a customer . he took the manicurist side over mine.... they didn't even call to tell me not to come back ....they mistreated a old woman with Alzheimer's ... no class at all ...... read more
