I could write a novel on how sad the experience using them has been. LONG story short, find another company to use. They didn't clean up the area 2 times as promised, their plumber didn't install the salt water system and project manager didn't notice many issues. Lack of communication is the main issue for this group. The salt system itself was left sitting next to the pool equipment not attached at all. 8 months later (as of this posting date) the salt water system has still not been installed and has cost us hundreds of dollars extra to keep the pool at the levels it should be. These extra chemicals wouldn't be needed if the salt system was installed. They didn't even realize they haven't finished our job until they saw we owed a final payment. We're more than happy to pay the final bill when our pool is completed and promised per the contract. There was an issue with the concrete company they used. They left with major cracks formed immediately after they were done. Bolin did address the issue however it took additional weeks for them to argue with the original company. The crews are hard working but extremely dirty. Leaving the entire yard not able to be used the entire time of the project. The left so much garbage and material that was unsafe and a mess. It was hard even letting our dogs out let alone our children to play in our yard. Yes construction is always a mess but leaving safety hazards all around was to much. I've waited 8 months to post this hoping and praying they would complete the job per the simple contract we all agreed to in May 2022. read more

I would give them a zero! Do not use this company! I've been dealing with Randall Bolin approximately 6 years regarding my pool "kool" decking. The quality of work is horrible. The BBB contacted Randall in July 2023. Randall stated he would take care of my issue regarding "kool" decking. Randall had 2 contractors come out to my house. Randall didnt follow up with the contractors and won't respond to my phone calls, text messages or emails. It's just been a disaster! I noticed Randall Bolin created a new company "Backyard Fun Pools, LLC". Our Experience One Year After Pool Construction Regarding Warranty Issues: Our family hired Bolin Designs Pools last year to build an in-ground pool for our home. We were close to having the process complete and the final touches were going in. We noticed the blower to the pool had turned on intermittently. Sometimes you would flip the power switch and it would work for a few minutes and other times it would not turn on at all. We contacted Bolin before we had made our final payment and sure enough, they jumped right in and diagnosed the issue. According to their plumbers and Randall the owner, there was too much back pressure causing the issue. Their solution was to drill out the return ports to enlarge them and that this would solve the problem. Randall's supervisor Jeff came out and did the enlargement of the ports, turned the unit on and back off to show that it was fixed. We thought this was the end of the problem so we paid them the final payment. The spa, being a seasonal use portion of the pool did not get much use until last fall. Mid October we turned the blower portion of the spa to find it doing the exact same thing. Sometimes turning on, sometimes not. At the same time, we noticed these crater like holes beginning to appear all thru out the concrete decking around the pool. We again tried to reach out to Bolin Designs Pools and that's where the countless excuses started. Numerous promises to come out the next day, the weekend, the following week which were never fulfilled. No apologies of course only to be greeted with more promises of appointments which were never fulfilled. We can understand a busy schedule as long as you have the common courtesy to call and state your position in order to reschedule. Like most families, we have pets so knowing when to expect them in order to be available to unlock our gate for them would of been fine, but multiple no shows? So as far as the build, we found it to be fair. Our concern now is that the rest of the materials and workmanship were inferior and that there is no company, much less the owner Randall to take responsibility should something else develop. The pool was built last year and we have been trying to get this addressed way before the year ended. The spa blower is slowly getting buried into the ground where Jeff last left it with a promise of having their electrician look at it who never came either. All this was communicated to Jeff for the first few months since he is the face that see thru out the build. Randall just pops in to ask for money and to take pictures for his marketing. We notified the owner Randall of Jeff's multiple missed promised appointments but to only get the same from him. Now neither respond or communicate back. If you have taken the time to read this review to this point and are in the process or considering using Bolin Designs Pools as a pool builder, I would take time to deeply consider other pool builders. With us, they were on the higher end of estimates and at that time had only a few good reviews. We waited a full year after the sale and countless un-returned calls before posting this review. Items they list on their contract to warranty within certain time periods. I'd understand if this was an old pool, but not even making an attempt or care that you left a job unfinished speaks volumes about your character and lack of customer service. All we asked is that you leave the equipment you installed and charged us for functioning. Not laying partially electrically connected on the ground where our children play with hopes that we would just go away. Randall Should you put any effort in answering this review, why dont you use that same energy to be a man and call your customers back. As long as this review is here, any reader can rest assured that we have never been contacted, the spa blower is still an incorrectly wired electrical hazard on the ground where our kids play, and the pool concrete is developing more and more craters. Pool installed last went okay, but they didn't finish off the work, leaving exposed re-bar and a mess in the yard. Earth mover busted a couple sections of front sidewalk and took months and multiple calls and texts after the pool install was complete to finally get them to fix this. Biggest issue is after-install warranty. Pool sweeper broke after about 5 months and Bolin was unresponsive. I ended up contacting the manufacturer and hunting down a pool company to fix the sweeper. Since install we've had the main pool pump breaker trip multiple times. I report and ask for assistance and get nothing. Minor leak on smaller pump motor. Jeff came out to look at it, said he'd send a plumber to fix. That was a couple months ago. Still waiting! If you won't stand behind what you build....don't build it! read more

Building a pool with the Randall Bolin and his team was the best experience I have ever had building a pool. I have had pools built with other companies and its was an awful and often extremely stressful exoerience. Randall built a beautiful pool and worked side by side with us during the entire project. Our pool is well built, beautiful and the price was extremely affordable. My Wife and I are very pleased with Bolin Designs Pools. ( and let me tell you my wife is not easy to deal with, she's very picky) The entire process was smooth and painless, No surprises or issues during construction, Randall was always available for any questions or concerns that My Wife or I had. I remember when he did the pool design he told me that once all the necessary permits were obtained he will have the pool ready on 4 weeks, all I have to say is the pool wasn't ready in 4 weeks, he actually finished in 3 weeks and 2 days, I couldn't believe it. The pool was done right before summer so my kids were able to enjoyed it while they were on vacations. This has been the least stressful home improvement we have done. I have held off on leaving this review for a year, but due to him not taking responsibility for his actions and lack of communication, I feel it necessary that anyone who chooses to go with this company see what you are going to deal with. He hooks you in by drawing up a beautiful pool on his laptop for cheaper than any of the other companies but beware after that it's all downhill. His excuse was that "it's construction and not fluid especially for type a personalities that need a timeline (which he wouldn't give)." Every single part of our pool was pushed back from when he originally said it was going to be without update from him. It was such a headache, I would've gladly paid $5,000 more dollars to go with a different company. Still to this day we have tried getting ahold of him which he denies to fix our cracked decking he did and to get touch up paint to try to fix it ourselves since he won't come out. He also claims he did come out without our knowledge to check things out and saw nothing so I guess he trespasses on people's property as well (because we could've very easily have shown him where the issues were). Our table inside the pool was also crooked which he said he couldn't do anything about. If you want to deal with a bad business manager and have all the time in the world for people just to show up whenever they want with no notice or warning of when things change this would be a fine company to go with. Worst decision we've ever made was to go with Bolin. We are approaching 8 months since the start of construction and there are several major issues they can't or won't resolve. Both Randall and Jeff will not respond or communicate with us. I have pages of unanswered texts and they won't pick up the phone when we call. In fact, Jeff's mailbox is full so we can't even leave a message. During construction, they broke our water line 3 times. It was never fixed properly so we had to hire someone else to fix it. We had our third plaster job done about a month ago and it still looks terrible. Bolin hasn't even been by to see what it looks like. Large swaths of dark areas and white stains throughout. The coping looks stained as a result of a bad sealant job and they have had months to fix it. Nothing from them on this. We have water coming from the side of the spa and they don't even know about this problem yet since they won't communicate with us. They didn't put sealant on the return caps so all the paint is chipping off and they promised back in Feb. to bring us new ones the next day and get us the paint color so we could repaint them and fix the other stains on the deck due to 3 replasters, but we've heard nothing. We have water in the street all the time, and can't get to the bottom of where it's coming from. No help from them on this, at all. We are now faced with having to hire someone else to fix all of these problems. We thought perhaps they were going out of business, but Randall is quite active on social media trying to get new jobs, so I guess that isn't the case. It would be very nice if he'd finish the ones he has. We spent a lot of money on our pool and expected to receive a pool of that value, but the pictures will show that is not the case. He came to our home and walked us through a variety of options; and ultimately helped us narrow in on the final design. Great service from start to finish. Had my in home consultation with a 3D drawing within about an hour and was never pressured to make upgrades. I explained what I wanted and was given options within my budget. They moved quickly and we were swimming in about 6 weeks. That was after letting the plaster cure.
