I called Aloha Swimming pools to schedule an appointment to service my broken Hayward pump. When I called we discussed possible issues including electrical. The cost of a new pump was going to be over 2K but over the phone we were able to source a back up breaker that had tripped on the exterior of the home. Aloha could have easily came out and charged me but instead offered great professional advice to solve what could have been a very expensive repair. I will call Aloha 100% of the time for any future pool needs. read more

I haven't actually used Aloha Swimming Pools before. I've had issues with my salt chlorine generator and called up the company to see if they serviced my territory because I'm on the other side of Houston. I can re-iterate the numerous reviews on Brian's professional, people first mentality. I'm a DIY wanna be. He took 30 minutes to hear out my specific situation, ask questions, and explain his unbiased opinions on what the best approach for me may be, which included walking me through how to acid wash my salt chlorine generator myself if I wanted to. New pool owner here, and totally clueless about pool maintenance. I bought this house not wanting a pool, but loving the house itself, and I asked Brian from Aloha to come out for Pool School, that way I would (hopefully) not break anything in my first month of owning the home. So Brian comes out late on a Saturday afternoon and broke it down nice and easy for me. He kept telling me over and over, "this is really not that hard, you can do this." Not only did he show me how to use everything, he also checked it all to make sure it was in good working order. When we were done with that part, he summarized what I needed to do daily, weekly, and quarterly and then also let me know about the general lifetime of the different aspects of the pool, so that I would be prepared when, for example, the pool may need to be replastered. Then he said something that I loved, "Ok, that's all you need to do to keep up with the maintenance. You can do this. But when you are tired of doing it, give me a call and we can take care of all the maintenance for you." So good with the human nature reading there. That was fantastic and so true...I know I am that guy who will try to do it himself for a while, and then get lazy. Glad he picked up on that, too. Next, we went through what I could do with my pool (it is super old) to update it. He went through what a salt pool was, why my pool was a good candidate (and when it would not be), what it would take to put in a heater, the different types of ways to repair the gravel around the pool, and a host of other things. No pressure, just letting me know what was out there. *I* had to ask him to circle back tot he salt pool idea. That had me written all over it...easier on the skin and easier to maintain. Tell me more. A week later, and Brian had converted my pool. Yesterday I realized just how different the pool looks...I don't believe I have ever seen a pool so crystal clear. It is just incredible the difference that one change made. And doing business with Brian was super easy. He communicates over text easily (which is my preferred method of communication) and made paying him a snap. When I am ready to tackle some of the other pool projects (need to figure out how badly I want the pool warmer this year, or when I am going to replace the entire deck out back before doing anything else), Brian will be the first person I go to. read more

I was in need of a new pool heater, booster pump, pressure side cleaner, and control board for a roughly 20 year old pool. Brian was very quick to respond to my online inquiry, and was onsite the next day. He was incredibly knowledgeable and did not over sell me on my needs. Finished project was new 400k BTU Heater, 3/4 Hp Booster Pump, Racer LS Pressure side cleaner, and new iQ2.0 upgrade to my Jandy controls. From onsite consultation to all equipment installed was less than a week. Pool/Spa are ready for winter swimming. Spa nights to rest sore muscles and enjoy a recovery drink is back on the agenda. Brian and his team did a good job refinishing our pool. The reason I did not give Brian 5 stars is because of 2 negatives - 1) Brian was sometimes slow to respond and difficult to get in touch with. He is very busy but sometimes it would take a day or two to get an answer. 2) Often he would not be able to tell us definitely when a crew would be able to make it to our house to complete part of the process. It seems that Brian hires a lot of sub-contractors who are independent companies, to do much of the work. They obviously have a lot of jobs going on so I assume that Brian was not able to "direct" them to be at our house on a certain day and at a certain time. Aloha pools seems to be Brian and maybe another office person, who again, contracts out 90% or more of the work to others. In the end, the pool does look great so we are happy with the final result. read more

When I handed my pool over to this company, my pool was crystal clear. I had just moved into my new house and knew I didn't want to spend time learning about pool maintenance. Over the course of the month, the pool slowly started turning green. Multiple phone calls and multiple texts later, Brian admits that his pool cleaner hasn't even been out to our pool, but that he'll resolve the situation. During this time, Brian went on vacation and was virtually unreachable. Two months later, the pool had frogs living in it. That is not an exaggeration. It was such a swampy mess that I couldn't even see past the first step of the pool, and saw frogs leaping in and out of the pool. I received many excuses from Aloha Pool Company, ranging from his pool cleaner not showing up, to the pump being broken (fixed at my expense), to the pool skimmer sucking air for one day. Finally, Brian then claimed that the pool needed to be drained, at my expense. Brian stated that my pool water was over five years old and therefore untreatable. Brian normally charges $800 for a pool drain, but he "generously" discounted the price to $600, and then said he'd need to add $200 for additional chemicals At that point, I stopped responding to the text messages. I should have fired Brian from the first excuse, but I was willing to let this company rectify their mistake since I thought they knew more about pool maintenance than I did. I called three other pool company for quotes (on-site), and not only was Brian's price the highest for a pool drain (even with the "discount"), but all three companies were absolutely shocked at the condition of the pool and how Brian's company had let it get to that point. Don't make the same mistake I did. I was able to rectify my OWN pool problems with a little bit of knowledge, patience, hard work, and time, and after spending less than $200 in chemicals. I will be willing to hire another pool company for maintenance but it definitely will not be this one. read more

I met Brian. He's a really nice guy - super knowledgeable, courteous, and really easy to talk to. On his first visit, he came out to give me an estimate for weekly cleaning and chemical balance for my pool. The quote was more competitive than my last pool company. -- NOT ABOUT ALOHA-- When Brian was here, I told him what happened with my last guys. The last company I hired weren't adding chemicals to get the levels where I preferred (pH specifically), and I constantly had to remind them to come back out; time and time again. This is unacceptable and for the price of pool maintenance services ($150-175+/mo, depending on the size of the pool), I really expect to 100% trust my tech that he's keeping everything tip-top. I have a 3 year old, so that makes it much more important to me. --THIS IS ABOUT ALOHA-- I told Brian that I wanted pH between 7.4 - 7.6. I told him I fired my last guys because they wouldn't add chemical when it got to 7.8 and above. He nodded and completely agreed that that was unacceptable. All great so far! So I hired them. 1st week I had already had the chemicals balanced - no real need to do anything except clean. All good. 2nd week. Heart sinks. pH, 7.8, nothing added. I'm on Thursday, it happened that I was having folks out the next day. I called Brian, nada, emailed, nada. It turns out he was on vacation, no biggie, but here I go again....worrying about the damn chemicals. So after the 2nd week, I let Aloha go. I'm probably a headache to deal with anyway (I reluctantly learned way too much about pool chemistry), but I'm just going to have to do it myself. I was already going down the same path with Aloha on week 2, and that just didn't feel right to me. Nice guys, though. read more

Brian with Aloha Pools is super responsive and very helpful. I reached out to Aloha when my pump began to "scream" which indicated that, at the very least, the bearings were bad. Brian came out and gave an estimate, then returned a few days later to make repairs. In the middle of tearing the pump apart and cleaning the DE filter, he ran into several problems that required a visit to the local pool store. Brian made multiple fixes and several recommendations that will be helpful in the maintenance of our pool. Hopefully won't need a "pool guy" anytime soon, but when I do, I'll give Aloha a call. The owner of Aloha, Brian answered the phone on a Wednesday and came out that Friday to assess the yellow/greenish pond like situation. He was friendly, professional AND knowledgeable!!! (Somehow the latter has been an issue with the last couple of home service companies I have worked with this summer, so this was an absolute relief!) He taught me how to vacuum the pool, turn on the lights, rid the pool of algae, fill the pool without the hose, AND he found the main reason my pool looked like a pond - The DE filters had MULTIPLE holes!! He then informed me he didn't have what he needed so he left and came back the following Tuesday to replace the filters, at a very reasonable price. In no time at all my pool was clean and blue again!! HALLELUJAH !! Brian, thank you for being a person of integrity and not taking advantage of someone who knew nothing about your speciality. On August 21 I started the arduous process of trying to find a pool service provider to fix or replace my filter pump. I was shocked by the lack of responsiveness that I got from several pool companies, where I would leave a message describe my problem and expect a phone call back. I must of gone through 3 to 4 different companies with no response. Not sure how I found out about Aloha Pools but I'm sure it was on the World Wide Web. I left a email with the company and in about 5 minutes later Brain called me. We discussed the issue , nail down a time and they came out and troubleshot my issue. essentially I needed a brand-new filter pump. anyhow what I like about Aloha pools is their responsiveness to potential customers and timeliness to arrive on site, their honesty and they do what they say. Called Brian from Aloha Pools and he immediately returned my call, even though it was a weekend. I had issues with my auxiliary pump and pool cleaner, as well as a completely green pool. He came out and replaced the pump and sold me a new Polaris vacuum, both of which were immediately installed. He also rebalanced all of the chemicals and shocked the algae away.
