This is QuikTrip store #1044 and it's located just off I-85 exit 63 (Lane Street - Kannapolis) in…read moreKannapolis, North Carolina. At the time of writing this review, this is the last QT you'll come across on the stretch of I-85 in between Charlotte and the Piedmont Triad (Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem). If you're headed towards Charlotte from the Triad, it's the first QT you'll come across. Living in Atlanta the past 20 years, I've become a big fan of QT because their gas stations are typically big, thoughtfully laid out, brightly lit, relatively clean, and easy to navigate with plenty of pumps, parking spaces, and competitive fuel prices. Their convenience stores are also clean in addition to being well-stocked with hot-and-ready and made-to-order food and drink. The stores usually have plenty of adequately-trained and uniformed staff who are polite. In short, QTs beat your run-of-the-mill gas stations and convenience stores, many of which can be shoddy. Consider yourself lucky if you have them in your area. This QT on Lane Street is no exception. It's got 20 pumps for cars plus a separate fueling and parking area and store for semi-tractor-trailer trucks (not all QTs are truck stops like this one). I stopped by this QT on my way back to Atlanta from High Point to fill up and use the restroom. It was easy for me to find an open pump; it was clean, in good condition, and worked well; and the restroom was clean enough. If South Carolina is part of your route, then you should fill up at one of the many QTs along I-85 in South Carolina, if you can, because gas in South Carolina is cheaper. Check out my "Carolinas I-85 Corridor" collection on Yelp for a mostly comprehensive listing of QTs and other gas stations along I-85 in between Atlanta and the Triad here: https://www.yelp.com/collection/Ey266j_8lAHk7iQLDODC9g. Unlike regional truck stop competitors such as Love's Travel Stops and Pilot Travel Centers, QTs are not as big. They do not sell products other than refreshments (mainly) and they do not have interior seating nor fast food restaurant chains like Dairy Queen, McDonald's, and Wendy's attached. QTs do, however, have limited outdoor seating. This one has a handful of umbrella-covered tables outside the store.

Oh, I love Quick trips. Good fuel, clean store, and the only truckstops that have kombucha.read more

The buffet is conveniently placed in the dining room, The employees were very nice and my order came out correct. I cannot give this place 5 stars. This is a new building. It should have a 100% sanitation grade. The dining area wasn't filthy but did need some attention. Many of the tables were dirty. They weren't busy and a BUNCH of tables were dirty. Somebody was falling back on their job.

Wasn't going to make a 3rd trip as we had company. The second time was yesterday, May 8. I ordered a 2 pc white original. Told the lady 3 times I wanted original white meat. When I got home and opened the box, it was white meat but it was fried so hard I could hardly eat it. Actually only ate about 1/2 of the breast and couldn't even try to eat the wing, first of all it looked like a pigeon wing it was so small and fried harder than the Breast. When I called the manager, he informed me HE packed that and it was original and if I would come back he would show me the difference between original and fried. I informed him I knew the difference, original is what I always order. This location in Kannapolis has gone downhill so bad you rarely have to wait in line as not many still go there. The manager told me I should have checked the order before going home, I shouldn't have to! John, the manager I spoke with was rude! Customer service is a thing of the past especially at this KFC.

When we eventually got to Cook-Out and ordered, our food came out hot in about 5 minutes, but we only had half of it. So we had to go up and ask for the other half, which fortunately was also hot. The food was ok, but what was extremely outrageous was the fact that out of the 10 cars that went threw the drive-thru while we were there, only 1 of them did not walk up to the walk-up window to get the rest of their food. That is sad. At that point, it's harder to continue messing up than to not mess up! No one got all of their food. Almost no one. There are no picnic tables outside to enjoy your food, so we just had to eat on top of one of our cars (we were driving two). The whole outside area smelled like marijuana (quoted by a family member). I would absolutely go out of my way to not come back. The only thing keeping this from being a one star review is the fact that the food was alright.

I asked "why is it on your menu ", to be answered with the sliding glass window being shut on me. Absolutely unacceptable. If you don't serve it then don't advertise it on your menu. And NEVER just shut the window and ignore a customer question. I would give Zero stars but that's not an option.
