Food took a while to be ready and was still not warm. On top of that, there were multiple hairs in each of our meals. Don't recommend.

When you walk in, The shed seems smaller from first view. It's actually more spacious than 1st sight. There's several seating areas off to the sides and at the rear of the buffet area. We were automatically seated since we were only a party of 2. The buffet is $15 per person which includes a drink. We both had Sweet Tea. You pay for your meal before being seated. On the table is sanitizer as well as condiments. Napkins are located where the plates along with the silverware and gloves. You are required to wear gloves while fixing plates at the buffet. The food selection is limited but plentiful. Cabbage, Green Beans, White Rice, Stew Beef and Gravy, Mac and Cheese, Fried Chicken, Ham, Fat Back Meat, Biscuits and Fried Cornbread. The food was good but not hot. When the new pan of Macaroni and cheese was brought out. I was like Yessss! However, it was just warm. Looks like more water was needed in the wells to actually keep the food hot. This is my restaurant side coming out. The desserts were rich and tasty. Ohhh, they also offered ice cream- Vanilla and Strawberry. It was truly good to break bread, laugh and enjoy a good meal.

Shuler's BBQ - Plate # 1.

The staff was very friendly, the service was good...I had takeout but the restaurant is a buffet inside. It clearly is a place the locals enjoy and it is an easy stop if you are on the way to the beach. All in all, my favorite was actually the hot dog. The chili was excellent and the slaw had just a touch of sweetness. The BBQ was well prepared, just not my favorite style or taste profile...a bit too much twang. I would recommend Shuler's if you are in the area and look forward to trying other items the next time I return.

Shuler's is located off I-95, Exit 181A heading towards Marion and Myrtle Beach. You have to drive…read morea mile or so from the exit but it's easy to spot. The place is a large wooden building that resembles something that would have been built in the 1870's. There are a few bench's and chairs on the front porch to relax in after eating or if you need to wait for a table. They have a general store with some interesting items as well. Schuler's is a buffet style barbecue and all you can eat. Their pulled pork is their best meat. I wasn't really impressed with their ribs though. Don't get me wrong, the were pretty good but I certainly wasn't blown away. Their fried chicken is good but again not much different from most buffets in South Carolina. Their collards are nice and they do offer hash. If you're thinking corn beef hash, it's not that. It's a BBQ or liver hash and it's definitely an acquired taste. I usually put it over rice if I get it. Hash was highly popular in South Carolina for many years. It can't hurt to try it as Schuler's is actually pretty good. Not my favorite barbecue in the area but it's cool place with great people.

Found this on Yelp as I was searching this morning for a spot to stop for lunch on our way home…read more It is a quick two miles off of I-95. It was fast, good, and easy (not to mention inexpensive). Stay focused... I am talking about lunch. When you arrive, the parking lot might be full (it was when we arrived), almost always a good sign. You can grab a spot on the street or behind the now mostly defunct main street. When you walk in, you glove up and start serving yourself from the buffet. Someone will take your drink order (ours was taken as we were going through the line), then find a seat. I didn't know what fatback was, but I had already Googled it before we arrived, so I easily identified it. After one bite, I decided my dentist might become richer if I continued to try to chew it. The fried chicken was good but a bit salty. The fried pork chop was good as well, but I would have mistaken it for fried fish if I hadn't read the menu. Smoked sauage, yum. The biscuits looked good, but I took (and ate) the cornbread but would not have known what it was if I didn't have the cheat sheet. The salad bar was primarily lettuce. They had a few salad toppings, but the tongs were short and difficult to use. I suspect most people do not come here for salad. Oh, did I mention dessert? Huge cinnamon rolls and something chocolate with pudding and cookies. It fit the bill for what we were looking for.. a quick, inexpensive sit-down lunch.

Fast and efficient service. Called in an order for a couple of breakfast sandwiches to pickup and…read morego. They had a couple of patrons sitting at tables, one way back in a fancier back room. Apparently that was causing some strife between the two wait staff.. one wearing a "Dream On" shirt told the other staff member that she was angry with her because of having to keep walking to that back room table, and apparently felt she wasn't getting any help. The other staff member helped me, and was pleasant enough to me, but the mood was definitely dampened... no Southern hospitality at that moment. This all played out while my sandwiches were bagged up and my change was made. The egg sandwiches were exactly as ordered - they folded the cheese into a scrambled fried egg, which was a nicer touch than plopping it on top. And, their country ham was quite good.
