My buddy and I were riding around town on my recent visit back home and I decided I wanted to eat here since it had been so long. My buddy got excited too because he loves the steak and cheese subs which is essentially a Philly cheesesteak . Off the top, my sandwich was decent but unless I'm misremembering it, the sandwich contents are a lot smaller than they used to be. The meatballs used to be so big that the sandwich was basically an open face with two giant meatballs and a large slab of cheese melted over it. The sandwich today had wall smaller meatballs which were consumed by the bread. The majority of it was bread with hardly any meat and the cheese was melted across the top. Still, it did what it was supposed to do; filled me up. This place does great business and I'm sure they have other good sandwiches but I doubt I'll be back. The meatball sub has always been a favorite of mine but todays meal seem to give credence to the adage that you can't go home again.

The young lady that took our order was polite and patient with us while we decided what we were going to order. I ordered the steak cheesesteak Dave's way with no onions, and added mayo, lettuce and tomatoe. They have a few items listed for dessert, but we were told that they were out of the banana pudding at the time. Our food was cooked to order and was piping hot when we received it. They placed my lettuce and tomatoes in a separate container which I'm grateful they did, because the lettuce was old and had a brownish tint to it. The cheesesteak was cheesy and really good. As I was eating I just noticed how dirty the place seemed. Although the staff were nice on their downtime every one was on their phone. I think they could have used that time to clean off the sticky tables, swept and mopped the floor etc. Everything just looked a bit dirty. Service was decent and fast, the food was freshly prepared and tasted great. Sanitation was a 96, not great but not bad either. More than $30 over the amount that I authorized. I posted about this experience and many people were thankful for the info. Others criticized the post. I pulled the post. I called Very's and explained what happened to me. I was told that nothing could be done over the phone and that I needed to come in at 1 p.m. the next day to see Nate. I was there on time. Nate was not there. A waitress attempted to assist me and then passed me off to another woman who came out of the office. I was there for almost a half of an hour when the lady (who was talking to Nate at home), said that Nate couldn't fix it from home. She took pictures of my documents and told me that Nate would come in at 3 pm. She told me that I didn't need to return. That Nate would have everything that he needed to fix it. I gave her my telephone number and asked if I could have the courtesy of a phone call when the transaction was resolved. It has been ten days and no resolution, no call to explain.
