We were visiting this area, and lamenting the lack of a coffee shop to fuel us for the drive back to Raleigh, when someone pointed use here. I honestly felt like it was going to be more adventure than enjoyment, and after figuring out which door to go in, my mind wasn't changed. It was pretty empty, but great seating and fun country-home decor. The gal running the place was passionate about her coffee. My companion got a drink off the menu, and I watched her grind and fuss over it to get it just right. When it came to my turn, I asked her to make me her favorite. I was not disappointed! The perfect shot of hazelnut flavor, and a smooth carmely bean and I was wishing I could be a better expert so that I could do this review justice!

Updated review: I have been here twice in the past month during what should be regular operating…read morehours (9:00am and 9:30am weekdays). Both times they were closed. There are no posted hours on the door and the sign says "closed". I can only guess that the business has closed permanently. If not, I would still not recommend them due to the erratic and uncertain operating hours. There's nothing worse than stopping at a place which should be open and find out it's closed.

The storefront is small and unassuming, tucked into a quiet stretch of road, but inside it opens up into a cozy space that doubles as both ice cream parlor and coffee shop. There are plenty of tables, and I got the impression they'd be perfectly fine with someone settling in for a while with a laptop if you're looking for a remote cowork spot with a bit of charm. We ordered a latte, and it was excellent. Generous foam piled high, with very hot coffee underneath that held its heat all the way through. The drink was well-balanced, not too bitter, and served with a quiet warmth that matched the atmosphere. Nana's Coffee may not be flashy, but it's clearly a place that values hospitality. Whether you're pausing mid-journey or looking for a low-key place to work, it's well worth the stop. When I went outside to pump my gas, the pump stopped at $0.06, and I did not receive the $20 worth of gas I purchased. I returned inside and spoke with the general manager and another cashier. Both told me the money would return to my card. The manager said I needed to hang up the nozzle for that to happen. I had left it in place because I wanted her to see what the pump displayed. She went outside herself and hung it up. I requested a receipt, but the receipt the cashier provided did not show my $20 gas purchase. When I returned to request the correct receipt, the manager printed another receipt showing a $20 gas transaction, but the card information did not match my card. This did not provide valid documentation of my purchase. The manager again told me the money would return to my card and directed me to contact my bank if it did not. Within 24 hours, I contacted State Employees' Credit Union because I had not received my refund. My bank advised me that it could not see a refund coming back to my card and instructed me to contact Speedway again. Throughout this interaction, I remained respectful, accepted the receipts, and left without arguing. However, I am now being sent back and forth between the store and my bank without a resolution. As of September 30, I still have not received my $20 back. I am requesting that Speedway review the payment and pump records for this purchase, provide the correct receipt, and resolve my refund. I also ask that management review how my concern was handled, particularly the receipt provided with card information that did not match mine. Please contact me with an explanation and confirmation of when I can expect my refund.

We were on the road and stopped in for lunch to break up the trip home. We love supporting locals (rather than chain restaurants). Found this place on the map and gave it a shot. Atmosphere is casual, in a small town, public parking is conveniently directly across the street. I had the patty melt with fries, my hub had a burger with sweet potato fries. We both drank 1/2 and 1/2 sweet tea's. The food was delicious and freshly made to order. I wish I made note of the waitresses name but she and the 2nd server helping her were both super nice, attentive to the tables. Just an all around diner feel and a great meal. read more

That is legitimately the simple truth of it all. There is not much along the route in general, and really your options for a food stop are limited to what you can find in the Rockingham or Laurinburg area. Getting something that is not fast food, takes a little bit of advanced planning and a significant roll of the dice. Thankfully we have Yelp to guide us. I found this simple lunch spot on the app before leaving Greensboro, and plugging it into our GPS, it simply required us taking one of the "old" routes through Rockingham and Hamlet. These days there is a highway bypass that totally avoids the traffic lights that cause delays in that area. We decided it was worth a 10 minute detour to get something else, and we chose Caleb's. A little hole in and old shopping center near the Wal-Mart. Honestly, wouldn't have it any other way. If a place can focus on the food and do it well, I don't need ambience. We started with some of their collard green egg rolls, and I like this choice for the menu. It's really not difficult to make an egg roll, and that crispy shell is one of life's most simple pleasures. The greens on the inside were tender and tasty, and we both enjoyed the sweet chili sauce dip. For lunch I went with their steak philly on texas toast with home chips. Given the price of the sandwich, I was happy with the size and the flavor, it was just enough to satiate me. The chips were nice and crispy, but both of us agreed they were exceptionally over-salted. The ranch dip helped (as did the remnants of the sweet chili sauce), but otherwise, it would have been too much salt. Price was very affordable, in reach for any local, and somewhat cheap by today's standard for those of us from out of town. Definitely a five star experience for what it is, where it is, and our time there. We'd stop on a future trip!

Still, it did what it was supposed to do; filled me up. This place does great business and I'm sure they have other good sandwiches but I doubt I'll be back. The meatball sub has always been a favorite of mine but todays meal seem to give credence to the adage that you can't go home again.
