We were told Holiday Restaurant was supposed to be great, so we grabbed takeout. My girlfriend was craving chicken and dumplings, and since the place was packed, we figured we were in for something good. Instead, we got five sad bites of food. The chicken and dumplings were 80% broth, 15% disappointment, and 5% actual food. The broccoli tasted like someone waved salt at it from across the room, and the corn tasted like someone dumped the whole shaker on it just for fun. A friend and I had breakfast there yesterday morning. Service was good, food nothing special . hash browns were dry n burnt.they did replace them. Pancakes were tasteless they use a cheap mix you can tell. They were overcooked also. Almost burnt. Food was sloppy plated. Coffee was pretty good. Place was clean. I liked this spot. My hamburger steak was very good. The problem was my husbands prime rib which was raw...not rare ...raw. Service was great. Lots of locals totally love this place, but because we were just traveling through, we didn't complain so I would not completely rule this place out just don't get the prime rib. read more

The breakfast was fantastic and the service was great! Our waitress checked on us 4 times, filling our coffee cup each time. And coffee is included in the price of the meal! That alone saved us $5. We drove 20 miles for breakfast and I hope to go back for lunch! read more

Got to go plates at work yesterday that were impressive so I decided to do the same for lunch today. Place was fully packed when I got there. There was the feeling of home town as soon as I walked in. Staff was pleasant, very attentive to customers coming in. Had to wait about 10 minutes longer than the originally stated 20 minute wait. Got home, food is piping hot and absolutely delicious!! Portions were perfect, price was very reasonable. We just found a new go to for a quick meal! When we arrived at Holiday Restaurant this week, we waited 5 mins before anyone acknowledged that we were there. The lady at register told us to sit anywhere. 10+ minutes later we were still sitting, waiting for someone to bring a menu, or take our order. Several ladies walked all around us, and never once asked if we needed to order or give us a menu. We were sitting in the side room and were directly in sight of the lady that told us to have a seat. We left! We should not have to look for a manager in order to be served. read more

We use to visit weekly for the prime rib special. It was really good but the quality soon faded. The steak was often very cold and chewy. The French Fries were undercooked every time and the salad was always old and kinda warm. It just isn't consistent at all. Not worth the money in my opinion. Hopefully they fix this issue. read more

We had the most wonderful experience here! Tammy took care of us and was above and beyond with the service. Her friendly attitude and genuine personality really made our experience. We had been rained out of Epicenter festival and found Holiday Restaurant through some locals, and do not regret choosing this little diner. The Holiday is an all around good small town family restaurant. I have been going here for years and have always been satisfied with the food and the service. I can guarantee you that anyone leaving a bad review was either not hungry, having a bad day, or just simply a grouch in general. I know I can always depend on The Holiday Restaurant to satiate my need for all around great service for any given day. It is by far one of the most pleasing, relaxed, and easy going establishments that you will experience. It is also that "Special Sunday restaurant" that will leave you with a pleasingly rare feeling of nostalgia that will stick in your mind well enough to make you a regular just for this purpose in it itself. Sunday lunch here was quite an experience ... not horrible by any means but I felt like I stepped back in time and I think I was the youngest person eating there (and I am 43) so that should tell you something. As I was walking in an older lady with a cane was near the door so I went up and tried to hold the door open ... let's just say ... she told me in very plain English I was not helping her ... just in her way (bothering her) ... so this started my lunch experience. It was an "old" diner like building and the general age of the clientele had to be between 70-90 .... and most had just come from church and seemed to know everyone. We got plenty of strange looks ... cause nobody had a clue who we were. The food was okay ... nothing to brag about ... but it was not awful either. I wanted fried chicken and the only choices I had were breaded tenders or chicken wings .... the wings were okay, but the tenders were nothing exciting. The fried okra and pickled beets were okay and the bread was average. Can't say it is a place I would go again, but it did provide some great opportunities for people watching. read more

As we were coming back from the beach after Thanksgiving we made a stop here for lunch. It has been many years since we were here before, and unfortunately it show. It is just worn out. The lunch was ok but not enough to write home about or expand on here. The server was very friendly and if there was a reason to go back, that would be it. Quite possibly THE worst breakfast known to mankind. The hash browns...more like hash whites swimming in a plate chemical butter. I *think* those were potatoes? Quite frankly I couldn't quite tell, because they weren't cooked. The bacon had to be salted for flavor. Although, one bite was enough, with or without salt. The eggs were drenched in more chemical butter. Now, I will say the pancakes were at least edible, unlike the rest of the plate. 3 hours later...on my way to get tums. . Recently I needed a caterer for my sister's memorial service and wanted "comfort food", instead of the usual BBQ, and the Holiday Restaurant was recommended. While the catering aspect of this restaurant is fairly new, they did a wonderful job. The owner Jeremy Gibson was very accommodating and gave me a large menu from which to choose. The prices were extremey reasonable and I fed my guests a buffet of BBQ chicken, pork loin with gravy, lasagna, salad, turnip greens, home made macaroni and cheese, broccoli casserole, mashed potatoes/gravy, rolls with butter and tea for $10 per person, including delivery and set up. Jeremy was very accommodating during the arrangements and Laura was efficient at the venue. I'd definitely use Holiday Restaurant for future events. read more

Had a bad experience all around.Service was unusually slow, due to what the server said, was short staffing issues... although the servers were very friendly. We were not impressed by the food, but it was edible. However as I finished eating and was waiting on the children to finish up my daughter spotted a cockroach trying to get onto her plate of food. I killed it with a napkin & went to pay for lunch, let the server know & she said "well it is an old building" and gave me a few dollars off the bill.....definitely will not be returning! read more
