Best breakfast within 250 miles for sure. The tea is always good and so are the prices. You can't go well you can't go wrong here.

There is plenty of space and tables for dining.I ordered the burger and fries. The burger came with onions, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and banana peppers with your choice of cheddar or provolone cheese. As you can see, I chose cheddar, and I added bacon. The burger had one small strip of bacon, about two small pieces of banana pepper, and about two small round pickles; it was a bit disappointing because they skimped on those toppings for the size of the burger. Overall, the burger was okay. The fries were like crispy fries. I did like that they were hot. I noticed something was on the plate near the fries, so I didn't eat many after that. I honestly was starving, so I was grateful for the little bit I did eat, but yeah, it was not as pleasing as I would have hoped for in a meal here.

My dining mate had a turkey sandwich with gouda and a side of fries, also very good. The restaurant also featured a small salad bar, priced for how many times one went back which I thought was unusual. Overall all enjoyable meal.

Traveling down Hwy 74 often, I am always looking for non-fast food restaurants. I love local diners…read moreand usually my first impression is how full the parking lot is. This restaurant must be the only game in this area because there were lots of locals dining but I've definitely had better. The first cool thing is that each table has a bowl of peanuts in the shell. Unfortunately they were stale. We then perused the menu. I chose fried chicken - dark meat with fried squash and green beans. "Sorry, we're out of fried chicken and fried squash." Ok... So my friend and I ordered pintos, green beans, turnip greens and fried okra with cornbread. Our plates came quickly and lying on top of the little bowls of vegetables was a pancake. I thought this was interesting. But where was the cornbread? Well, turns out the pancake was the cornbread. They were so greasy that we took napkins and blotted them to get out some of the grease. They tasted ok and we were hungry - you do what you have to do. The vegetables were nothing spectacular but acceptable. I will say that The Old Store was clean and had a lot of interesting antique signs and other memorabilia scattered around. The service was good. Will I return? Probably not. I'll stop at Mamie's in Laurel Hill or continue on to Laurenburg. Cash Only.

I've passed this place a few time and found the exterior decor interesting and planned on stopping "one of these days". Well, I finally did and it was a great choice for lunch. We ordered fried pickles and fried mushrooms for starters... Both were very good but the mushrooms were outstanding. Imagine lightly battered fresh mushrooms, which is rare, but were fantastic. I had a club sandwich with crinkle fries and my wife enjoyed a great cheeseburger. Service was very friendly and outstanding! The only drawback is "cash only" but they have an ATM in the store, so no problem. I will return!

The Old Store - Truly an old timey grill. A nice rest stop on the way to/from the beach.
