I came here October 6 , 2021 with one of my high school friends who now lives in Laurinburg and I live in Las Vegas , Nevada. We were driving around town and reliving those days of growing up in Bennettsville and going to school there. We graduated in 1985 , Green Gremlins ! This was my fathers favorite place to get a footlong chili dog with onions and I would always get a chocolate dipped ice cream cone. So , of course I had to honor his memory and get one. Well they were out of footlongs , so I got 2 regular chili dogs with no onions for me , but we did get onion rings and french fries. I have to say they are still the best chili dogs I've had and I have been all over the country and several countries while in the Army. If you were to can that chili sauce they would make a fortune ! They now have a dining area inside , but we ate outside at one of the picnic tables near the creek. When we were in high school everyone used to ride around Dairy Dream and hangout in the back parking lot, small town living. Back in the days they only had an outside window that you would order your food and pickup from. They had picnic tables outside or you could eat in your car. The selection of food is way more than when I was a kid too. I'm so glad to see they are still in business and a local favorite. So many things from our childhood have disappeared and only live in our memories. The sign is always up high and filled with uplifting bible quotes.

I got the Double Cheeseburger with Crinkle Cut Fries and a can of Pepsi. The burger patties were nice and thick and juicy. Hot and fresh tasting with lettuce and tomato. If you want a Traditional North Carolina Slaw Burger they can do that too. The Crinkle Cut Fries were hot , fresh , and tasty. I prefer Crinkle Cut or Steak Cut Fries , so this was a plus. The employees were also nice. They have so much other food to choose from. It being a Monday provided some obstacle, but we eventually found Southern Delights open and ready for business. When we arrived, it was nice to see a good local crowd enjoying them for lunch. Our server was buzzing around from table to table with haste, and was very nice, probably too over apologetic for any wait. She did a great job. There is a lot to enjoy here, plenty of country style cooking and an extensive sandwich menu. The prices are very reasonable. It's the kind of place that serves their community, not trying to be fancy, just good food and service! I decided to go with a club sandwich and onion rings, while my wife went for the reuben and fries. My club sandwich was good, and the onion rings were great. Perfectly crispy. The club had an ample amount of meat, though I'd have liked to have seen a different size bread. With the sandwich quartered, the basic sandwich slice white bread made the pieces a little unruly. Or maybe just cut it in half (though i know a club is traditionally quartered). My wife really enjoyed here reuben, cole slaw instead of kraut, and her fries were cooked perfectly. Generous portion on both the fries and onion rings which you love to see. Our tea was also spot on, just enough sweet to make a perfectly balanced half and half. Overall, is this place going to blow you away? No. But I am definitely giving it a 5 for knowing exactly what it is, and executing in a way you'll be happy with if you visit. If I ever pass through again and need a bite, I know where to go!
