The place remodeled and it looks so so nice! So classy. The food is still so good! Finally tried the claypot fish and it was really good. It has a bit of sour/tangy flavor from the pickles. It's a little peppery when you drink the soup cause of the pepper to rid of the fishy smell but still good overall. The staff was very helpful and attentive.
Lobster was ok - had a strange texture but still delicious. Honey walnut shrimp was amazing. Most of the food was pretty good and on brand for 626. Service is super friendly and they gave my brother an extra dish because he's a regular and it was his birthday. Ambiance is on brand with a Chinese cafe - parking lot can get crowded and the sun is blocked from tinted windows. Would come back again.
It's true that all the old Chinese folks have been flocking to this restaurant. My parents come here a lot with their various social circles for the deals. Is it a deal? Hot pots are $20-30 or per lb market price. Is the decor great? Half the ceiling and walls remain unfinished. Blue marking tape denote unfinished work. It smells of industrial cleaner in some corners. Was the fish tender? Yes Fresh? It seem so, but harder to tell given it's in soupy broth and dosed with lots of cumin. Tasty? Enough so If my parents want to come here, I'd join. Would I invite others here? No
Great lunch specials at $9.99 from 11am-5pm every day including weekend. I placed a take out order at the restaurant in the late afternoon and my food was ready in about 15-20 min. Ordered 4 items. BBQ pork fried rice which is delicious. Very flavorful, slightly oily but in a good way. Filet mignon with black pepper sauce - also delicious. Sautéed string bean with minced meat - another delicious item. The string beans are chopped up which I didn't expect - still delicious. Lastly, Pork chop with spicy salt. This one was a disappointment. There was a lack of seasoning - almost like they forgot to season it. But overall, very good food at great prices and portion size. Also gave 2 large boxes of white rice. Total before tip was $43 and it's easily enough food for 3-4 people or meals. The parking lot in front is small but there's also a rear lot and street parking. They also have dinner specials.
We stopped by after hearing they offer $9.99 lunch dishes, and this little mom-and-pop Chinese spot definitely delivered good value. SERVICE: 4/5 We arrived just after the lunch rush, so there was almost no wait. The staff were friendly, and our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. FOOD: 4/5 The dishes were delicious and exactly what you'd expect from classic Chinese comfort food. A couple items leaned a bit salty, but overall everything was satisfying and flavorful. PARKING: 3/5 The parking lot is quite small, so coming during peak hours might be tricky. You may need to grab street parking if it gets busy.
This is my first time having dinner at Boiling Seafood Wok. Parking may be a challenge as the parking lot is small. The restaurant offers special dinner dishes at $14.99. We opt for its regular dinner menu as it offers more choices. The highlight of the dinner is the fish hot pot. The fish is fresh, and the broth that accompanies it is delicious. You can also get a free broth refill. The rest of the dishes are delicious, and the waiter offers excellent service.
The hot new place all the older people are talking about. All of our parents keep talking about the great lunch special. We didn't end up making it for lunch special but we came for our Chinese new year dinner on the weekend before CNY. Big mistake. We came early but it still got crowded and on top of that people were rude and service was awful. I mean I've been to tons of Chinese restaurants growing up and service isn't always the best but they usually get the job done, food is good and so you don't mind that there are no pleasantries. No, not here. Food wasn't great and at times there wasn't any at all. We were missing two dishes even when we finished the rest of our meal and they kept saying it was coming and wouldn't even apologize for the delay or offer to cancel it. I mean we literally finished all our other dishes and had to go boxes and they still had us sitting there waiting for two other dishes we ordered forever ago. The waitress and honestly all the staff were beyond rude which is even worse for a CNY dinner. I get you're busy but even still, all the unhappiness was unnecessary. Just stop taking customers and close early if you can't keep up and you're gonna have a bad attitude about it. The chicken clay pot rice had small bones in the small pieces of chicken, if you can even call it chicken. It was more like chicken bones with tiny slivers of meat. I don't care how great the supposed lunch special is, I'm never coming back here. I'd rather take my business elsewhere. I think one table legit just got up and left after briefly sitting down with some menus. The only good thing I can say about this place is the fish soup my mother in law ordered kept coming with soup refills even when she was packing it to go. It was a little peppery and definitely tasted better than it looked. Btw the sign on the restaurant says something other than "Boiling Seafood Wok" but the sign on the plaza is that and that's what your gps will route you to. It's just some variation of the name, I forget exactly what but the sign above the doors is just slightly different.
Their lunch special is $9.99 and totally worth every dollar for its quality food! Affordable meals for the family! It's in a small little corner plaza with limited parking spaces; however, parking in rear and streets are available. Prepare for crowds as soon as they open their door!
UPDATED MENU & PRICES. New name Boiling Stone Fish? Also, place looks really nice inside after recent remodel. I have only ordered to go in the past, but dined in yesterday as we brought a friend to try this place. Arrived just after 11am. Ordered 5 dishes for a party of 3 with plenty left over to take home: squid with spicy salt, shrimp with tofu, sweet & sour chicken, fish with black bean sauce, string bean with mince meat. All were delicious and plentiful portions. Service was excellent, professional, friendly. Was provided ice water, forks, chili sauce, to go boxes without having to ask more than once or twice). Didn't feel rushed. My friends enjoyed the food as well and liked the decor inside. All agreed a place we would go again.
Came here Saturday with a party of four for lunch and got seated right away. We ordered House Special Boiling Cod Soup and Green Beans. The House Special Boiling Cod was flavorful. Though the fish did not taste fresh, they added a generous amount of it. The soup base was delicious and not salty at all. As for the green beans, it was super salty. It was so salty to the point where I couldn't eat it alone and even with rice without chug a great amount of water. Other than that, it wasn't overcooked and green beans itself was fresh. Service is fast. Parking was simple since there was additional parking in the back. Restaurant can be suited for a large party since they have large tables available. Overall, I feel like it was still worth a try since the food does have some sort of authenticity. I also do hope to be back since this is one of my partner's favorite spots. I'm just hoping the day I went is one of their off days and is not considered their regular cooking.
We came on a sunday at lunch time and waited 40 minutes to be seated, 15 minutes to order food and another 40 minutes to receive all the dishes we ordered. We were ignored, provided with dirty utensils/bowls and pots of yellow water they call tea. Some major things: The fish hotpot was definitely not worth 75$.. It was greasy, random vegetable chunks/cuts and too much alcohol. I am not sure how this is their famous dish. We ordered a 2lb fish for 5 people but there was barely any meat for each person. The menu said that it was 17.99$/lb but the total came out totally different. The stir fried string bean with fish fillet lunch special dish was 9.99$. It was greasy, they used frozen fish and the beans were fried in oil leaving this weird skin texture on the outside. It was lacking a lot of flavors. The seafood and tofu in claypot was 17.99$ but a total rip off. There were about 6 pieces of small tofu cubes, 4-5 frozen fish fillets (same as the string beans stirfry), 3 shrimps, 5-6 cuttlefish/squid. It was loaded with cabbage at the bottom. The dish mainly tasted of oil and toubanjiang sauce. The beef chow-mien was super greasy, uneven coating of soy sauce and flavor. The beef slices were tenderized to the point that it's not really beef anymore? You can't really taste any beef. There is also no wok hei, a big disappointment. Would not recommend wasting time and money here.
I was pleasantly surprised at both the quantity and quality of the affordable lunch specials. The fish with special bean sauce was the standout dish with a very generous serving of fresh fish, and the sauce had a very good balance of sweet and savory that also mixed well with rice. The deep fried tofu with XO sauce had a nice crispy shell with a subtle XO sauce flavor. It was served on a bed of shredded lettuce and green pepper which added a spicy kick. A pot of tea, rice, and winter melon soup was included in the meal. An outstanding value by today's standards. The interior was clean and seemed to be somewhat new. Because the main dining area is not huge, it was easy to get the attention of the wait staff, and service was very friendly.

First of all, their service is not bad. The dishes taste ok. But not worth the price that we paid. It's a small and simple decors restaurant. What I don't like is they try to upsell and when we want to order something, they say it's out or suggest something else. The turbot fish hot pot they charged $30/lbs and that fish max is a little bit over 2lbs, but they charged us over 3lbs which came out $93. And they took forever for the takeout order when we ordered it when we first seated. What I really really don't like is they kept coming and asked for more tips when we gave them good amount of tips. read more
o5.11.2o22 Came for an early dinner. We walked in around 5:30ish and it was empty. I was being greeted immediately. We were deciding if we should eat in or take out. We eventually decided to eat in. The staffs spoke Cantonese which my husband said it makes him feel at home. Haha The waitress brought us a teapot right after we got seated. My husband added, woah not many restaurants do this anymore. Which it's true! I know Mama Lu's used to serve tea but the last time we were there, they didn't. Then the waitress brought over a plate of peanuts! What!? Anyway, everything on the menu looked super delicious! From the photos to the came of the dish, not so much on the price though. Then again, everything had gone up in price so it's pretty average if you compare it to other similar restaurants. Cost of living is just way too crazy now! We ordered the seafood chowmein, fried intestines, and seabass in pot with brown sauce or something like that. I liked the seafood chowmein more than comparing to most other restaurants that serves the same dish. Theirs is not too salty, not overly sauced, and the vegetables were crunchy not mushy and soft. It was very light like what most Cantonese food should be. The seabass was very good! The fried intestines were very crunchy. Some thick pieces I wasn't able to chew it well but the flavor is good. We were pretty stuffed. We asked for the check and boxes for the food which the waiter offered to box it for us. Then they brought us the bill and green bean dessert! That's crazy! Not many Cantonese style restaurants still serves dessert after the meal. I was extra stuffed bc I finished the dessert. Lol We will definitely return to try other dishes! Tried it due to recommendations in Sgv eats but this was quite disappointing. Shrimp with veggies was ugh (shrimp was way soft, mushy... almost like from freezer burn). Filet mignon with pepper was chuck beef and mostly onions. The oil from the friend squid was old. Peking pork chop was fat although some pieces had ok meat. And eggplant was nothing to write home about. I definitely want to support local restaurants but there's a reason why this place is mostly empty. read more

Im normally extremely picky with my Chinese food, but this place is one of the few that I approve and like. The thing to get is the house special cod soup, the bowl is large and comes boiling over a fire. It's a little sour, gingery, garlicky, and full of cod and other good ingredients including mushrooms and radish. Can be ordered spicy or no spicy, but we got it non spicy so drinking the fish soup would not be a problem, it's super "sweet" as in full of fish flavor. I've never had this dish as good anywhere else. Also had the Kung pao shrimp which was ok, and the filet mignon chopped in French style. The beef is soft and not too chewy. Also the green bean is very flavorful as it is chopped and absorbs a lot of sauce. This should preferably be eaten with rice rather than by itself. Service can be a bit slow if they're busy, but they give you complementary soup at the beginning! Ambiance can be a bit loud too so don't feel bad about taking it to go! read more

*Hidden Gem* This place has been here awhile now, yet i never knew about it. Its located at a corner of a small plaza and nothing really got my attention to come here until it was recommended by my brother in laws family and im glad i tagged along! It's not the fanciest place. Decor is generic but clean. They also don't have the sweetest customer service from this community restaurant but for the price, portions and flavor, its definitely worth it. Place If you go before 5pm, you can take advantage of their lunch special of $7.99/dish plus after 4 dishes you can choose a pan fried fish or brown sauce over fish for free! Everything taste good. No complaints of any dishes we ordered and to pair it with their well known sour fish soup was definitely my kind of confort food. read more
My family has been coming here for years!! The CHILEAN SEA BASS BELLY HOT POT (10/10) is magnificent... high quality buttery fish in a spicy (spice is optional) pickled vegetable soup? So decadent yet pretty healthy! I'm all for it. We always get a stir-fried vegetable dish to go alongside (you can ask them what vegetables are in season, or I also really like String Bean with Spicy Sauce). I keep reading reviews about their Fried Sole Fish, so I will try that next. Yum! read more

Great place if you like fish! Their specialty is boiling fish wok (every table ordered one), you can order regular or spicy, I like it with mild spicy. Just be aware some items in the menu were priced by lb, that's very normal in Chinese restaurant like this one. We ordered 8 dishes, about $210 after T&T. read more

This is sort of a Chinese hot pot type of restaurant. It's super home-y and healthy too! They're popular for the small, medium, or large hot pots. Ingredients come with plenty of veggies, tofu, and fish. All the ingredients are pretty fresh (it also helps that they're my favorite type of veggies.) The fish is extra fatty, but it's what makes it actually taste good, and besides, fish oil is good for you! They also come with the pickled vegetables to start with. And the hot pot has the thick white noodle that was weird to me at first, because I'm used to more thinner noodles in my hot pot, but it does taste quite good after you get used to it! Their chicken is also my FAVORITE. It tastes like childhood for me. I prefer the chicken with rice, because it does run a little salty, but once the hot pot arrives, you could probably eat it with noodles. read more

Recommended by my aunt who lives near by so we decided to try it on a Saturday 11am. We were the only ones there when they first opened and loved it. The lunch menu was $8.99 per plate. Pork kidney with onions and ginger Bbq pork fried rice Spicy salt shrimp Clams with crispy garlic Beef with black bean sauce Came with jasmine rice and house soup. Everything was quite yummy! Nice portions and good service by the young man. I recommend this place to families and anyone who like to share and enjoy good quality homemade like Cantonese food. read more
I LOVE THIS PLACE! It's like a hidden gem (but not so much among locals because the restaurant was packed on a Wed weeknight). They serve Guangdong style Chinese dishes with seafood hotpot. Highly recommend the Cod Fish Seafood hot pot which they are famous for. You can get it either normal or spicy. We had the normal one and ordered vegetable and noodle on the side. After we finish eating the delicious cod fish (which is calculated by pound, and pretty cheap, we ordered 3lb for 8 people and it was just enough), you can eat the noodles with the soup. The soup is already very flavorful and thick with a strong pepper taste. I can eat this everyday! We also ordered other dishes such as: Fried tofu- Highly recommended, comes with broccoli and shrimp! It's crispy on the outside and hot and soft in the inside. Beef stew- My friends really liked it, but it was a bit plain for me, but the beef texture was great! Fried pork intestine- Delicious! Crispy on the outside, and tasty (not chewy) inside. Chicken clay pot rice- I think this is my least favorite dish, the toppings weren't that good, but the rice was crispy on the bottom of the pot! Ordered deep fried ribs. It's by far the best I have ever tasted. Loved the flavor and the portion is big. Veggie is always taste good. The complimentary small dish taste awesome. Did not know it's Broccoli stems. One thing that I wasn't sure about is the fish soup. We order one lbs of fish with the soup non spicy. It has herb and pickle veggie which add the sourness to the soup. The combination was interesting and we didn't finish it. I almost think spicy will make the difference. They seems to have a lot more tasty food and they were nice to let us in before kitchen closed. Definitely will try again if I am in the area. read more

My mom has been wanting to try Boiling Seafood for quite some time, and she finally got her chance on a Sunday afternoon. This Chinese restaurant specializes in seafood woks (pretty much seafood hot pots), although they also have a variety of Chinese dishes. Even better is that they offer $5.95 lunch specials on a whole bunch of items, all of which include soup and steamed rice. A really good deal for some pretty solid food. This restaurant is located on Garvey in a pretty small plaza. They take up two shop locations - one with the name plaque above the door as well as the location next door, which they give to bigger parties. Parking in the lot is quite difficult to find, but luckily there are lots of street parking spots as well as a lot in the back. Nothing special about the interior of the restaurant. Tables and chairs aren't the cleanest, but you're here for cheap Chinese food, not fancy looking tablecloths and squeaky clean table setting. They are currently offering a special where you order 4 dishes and they'll give you a free chicken (soy or white chicken). I have to say that everything we ordered that day was fairly good! Deep fried tofu: How can you go wrong with deep fried anything right? These tofu pieces were big and super crispy! Loved the crunch from the outside of the tofu while the inside of the tofu stayed silky smooth. Didn't even need the soy sauce that accompanied the tofu - it was that good! Steamed meat patty w/ preserved vegetable: This was one of the last dishes to come out. I thought it was pretty good. Flavor was there - a little sweet from the soy sauce poured on top, but overall a good taste to the meat patty. Tasted really good with rice. Dried bean curd w/ daikon and beef brisket hot pot: Another favorite! This was really flavorful - almost a bit TOO flavorful that it made everything seem a bit too heavy. But I was a fan of everything in this dish. Only complaint is that there wasn't enough dried bean curd! Beef brisket was tender and there was a ton of daikon. I think we also ordered a small classic wok of fish belly: I ended up trying a few pieces of fish belly and was pretty blown away. Super soft and tender - really felt like it went down super smooth. Good flavor to the wok. I especially liked the bamboo shoots and daikon that were mixed in the broth. My parents were also fans of this dish. Highly recommend if you're looking for something on the healthier side. Soy sauce chicken: My parents were originally set on ordering the white chicken with ginger sauce, but the waitress really pushed hard for the soy sauce, saying that it was freshly prepared and all that. She made a good argument for it, and my sister and I are bigger fans of soy sauce chicken than ginger, so we went with the soy sauce. I was pretty surprised at how good it was! For a free chicken, the flavor was pretty solid. I could taste the soy sauce, the chicken was tender and soft - I really enjoyed this. The soup was also really good - the complimentary Chinese soup had a lot of ingredients, super flavorful! tl;dr - Definitely a really good meal that I didn't expect to find here. I really enjoyed everything that we ordered, and even better is that they have a whole ton of items offered on their lunch special menu so you won't get tired of the food if you come back often. And prices were really cheap - can't expect much more! read more
ABSOLUTELY THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I don't even know where to start. When we were seated, there were bugs crawling on the table and flying around. We literally waited 1 hour for them to give us our first dish. The clams were mostly shells, with no clam meat inside. We ordered 5 dishes, but after 2 hours, we only received 3 of them. So we said to cancel last 2 dishes and just give us the bill. The server said okay and brought it to us. Then finally brought us the last 2 dishes while we were looking at the bill. So we just took those dishes to go.... The restaurant wasn't even full. It took so long because they kept getting things wrong. They gave wrong orders to the table next to us too. Hah. And they also gave us room temperature beer instead of chilled. The lady with the short brownish/blonde hair had the worst attitude. She was so sassy. She kept rolling her eyes whenever we asked a question. One thing we asked was if one of their seafood was fresh or frozen. She said frozen, so we were unsure to order it or not. So then she changes her answer and said it's fresh. Wtf!!!! And when whenever we tried calling her and this other server over to our table, they would look at us and just walk away. They give this free dessert in the end, but it was very watery and flavorless. This place is just one big mess. read more

Lunch specials end at 5pm and cost $8.99. Just went there today.

As of 4/2, they are open now. Just called and ordered takeout.

They said they're not doing this anymore due to Covid making business more slow. However, they still have their lunch specials from 12-5pm daily and provide free soup. They gave me soup and rice with all my dishes for take out.
