December 16/2022: TA DAAA...REVIEW #699!! As usual, Yelp has it right. This is a 3 Star at best. The place was clean but not overly so. The tables were covered with plastic table cloths. Table also had rubber gloves & a small garbage can at each table which I thought was very cool. The food was generic & only ok tasting. Started with recooked (overly crispy meaning they were fried, left to become cold & refried again) Spring Rolls (2.00/ea). Had Shanghai Chicken Chow Main ($10.99), Broccoli w black mushrooms ($9.99) & Spicy Chili Chicken ($10.99). All only ok tasting but the serving size was generous. Gonna have to give this one a 3 because it was just meh. At this price point you kind of expected something different or some wow factor. To start, the service was great! The workers were really nice and accommodating. Unfortunately, they ran out of lobster on our visit. That was disappointing. We ended up getting snow crab and while it was pretty good, the value didn't seem there. I feel like I was just comparing it to Captains Boil where there was much more value. After trying out Captain's Boil and LA Boil, my sister and I were interested in trying Boil Plus. The restaurant is quite small as it used to be a Subway. We both ordered a pound each of the snow crab legs, 1 lb mussels, 1 lb clams, and Cajun fries. For all of our orders we chose the signature flavour. We were disappointed with the signature flavour. It didn't taste even close to good like the boil flavour at Captain's and LA. The kitchen forgot to add the Cajun sauce to the fries. We thought it would be Cajun seasoning and not a sauce. So they brought us a small container with Cajun sauce to add to the fries. The service was good but went down by the time we were done. Not sure why the service went down as it wasn't busy when we left. We weren't a fan of this seafood boil restaurant. read more

Questionable safety hazard? Pricey, small portions, and poor service for boiled food that you can probably make yourself quite easily. (literally put seafood in a bag with sauce and boil it) The restaurant itself is very nice, comfortable seating and modern décor similar to their neighbour Heart Sushi. Different to other sit-down (non ayce sushi) restaurants, this place also uses iPad order service, but there are two older Asian ladies that also tend to your needs (but are quite quiet and don't seem interested in servicing). To start, we ordered a lobster bisque. Usually cream based soups are very simple to cook, but they somehow butchered a very simple dish. I would believe it if they told me the cream they used was overdue and the soup had been sitting in the corner of the kitchen for the past 5 days. It was that bad, I was very sad. For our main, we had the singles combo, baked clams, and baked oysters. For drinks, we went with lychee juice and mango juice. The singles combo comes with shrimp, mussel, clam, and red sausage (oddly enough), and we chose the garlic sauce. It also comes with a side of fries that are surprisingly good with a crunchy exterior and soft interior, perfectly salted (like Costco fries). The baked clams and oysters are topped with mayo and cheese. The mayo had a bland and slightly tangy taste which I did not enjoy very much. For sure, all the seafood was overcooked resulting a rubbery consistency. I'm not sure if their bags are BPA proof because our simple garlic sauce had a very strange plastic taste. At the end of the night, the lychee juice and mango juice that we suspect were poured directly from their juice cans were the best part of the meal. read more

I've always wanted to try a restaurant like this, but this was my first time! I love this restaurant. I came with a groupon. Awesome value too! I got a pound of shrimp, a pound of mussels and a dungeness crab. Each type of seafood came in its own sauce. You choose the sauce, and specify mild, medium and hot.... I had shrimp in garlic sauce, mussels in house sauce and the crab in garlic sauce. All sauces I had were mild. All delicious! So the mussels were huge, delicious, and on the half shell. The shrimp were huge, shell and heads on, and also delicious! The dungeness crab, in mild garlic sauce, was also delicious! It came with at LEAST 10 plus claws. I love dungeness crab, and its extremely hard to find in most restaurants. Which is yet another great reason to come to this great space! The y also have a lot of other food, including fried rice with toppings, ramen, soft shell crab, and other things that sound so yummy! They also have 4 or 5 desserts. Including 2 types 8f cheesecake! Yeah! It's quite a small restaurant, so don't come here we ith 70 people! If you're coming with a group larger than 10 or 12, I'd suggest calling first 5o nske sure they can fit you in! This place is overrated and overpriced for the quantity and quality of food they serve as well as the ambience and service they provide. My husband and I love Captain's Boil so we decided to try this boil place as it is close to our house. We ordered oysters, 1 lobster in spicy Cajun sauce and 1 king crab leg in spicy signature sauce. First of all, the ambience is very cheap; almost like a fast food place or diner. The service was ok but unprofessional. The oysters weren't fresh and had a strange aftertaste. I only had 1 oyster because I couldn't handle the taste. My husband had the other 5 only because he didn't want it to go to waste. So right off the bat we were turned off by the place but still decided to wait to make up our minds about the restaurant till we had the main course. Both the sauces were a disappointment and didn't live up to our expectations. Captain's boil is way better! The meat was just warm and didn't feel like a proper "boil". It was a complete waste of $170. We could have gone to a high end, fancy restaurant for less then this amount and felt satisfied. We left unhappy and unsatisfied. You are in for a lot of fresh seafood in a choice of fantastic sauces when you sit yourself down to eat here. Do NOT be fooled by the clean, humble exterior when you pull your car up. Patrick suggested I get the single combination plate. It had 4 BIG shrimp, good sized mussels, 4 clams, and 4 deliciously seasoned sausages. Man, oh MAN was it delicious. They give you gloves, and you spread your meal on the plastic-covered table, then dig right in. The signature sauce is distinct and complex as it accompanies the seafood perfectly. I'm from California, so I probably won't be returning to this fabulous restaurant soon, but if you're in or near Toronto, you really should stop in for great food, clean atmosphere, and great personality from people like Philip. read more

Tried out this restaurant and was super disappointed. Their boiled seafood wasn't that great. The flavours they had isn't as good as other places. Felt like the sauce lacked flavour and salt. It was very bland. We got two orders of the shell-less shrimp in two different flavours but they both weren't good. The shrimps weren't that good didn't taste that fresh and they were really small. Portion seemed really small overall. The only thing we liked was the baked scallops. It was small but the flavour was good, very creamy. read more

Great customer service! They were very accommodating after we made a mistake on our order. The lobster chowder was great! We also got the 1lb shrimp with signature sauce, and 1lb mussels with garlic. These were comparable to similar restaurants. Menu has a wide variety of selections. Would recommend this place to try out! read more

Tried this place since it is so close to where I live. Got a pound of mussels, shrimp and clams. Like every other boil place they offer different sauces to accompany the items you buy. Choose the signature. Upon arrival everything seem to look good, but when I tasted it there was a weird aftertaste. Almost gasoline like, I want to say that this could be attributed to what seemed like a preservative used on the garlic but it definitely didn't taste fresh. But i can't say for sure. Dessert supplied via the Cheesecake Factory is a nice touch though after the copious butter I was ready for a fat nap I'd actually suggest smaller portions at a better price point that would encourage sampling greater variety given the amplitude of choice All in all -a fun and friendly place with friendly staff to enjoy some fresh prepared seafood ... just choose your company appropriately as it will get messy ;) read more

So not a very large place, but cozy and relatively new. Many seafood options of which we chose the combo platter for a couple which included Mussels, shrimp, seafood fried rice with sweet potato fries. They give you different options of the types of sauces you'd like for instance garlic, Cajun, lemon pepper, spicy, non-spicy so we choose a couple of different options which was quite decent. The garlic stemming from the mussels was strong but flavorful. Mussels and shrimps were well cooked and tender but make sure you remember how to take part the shrimp shelling because it's not easy! I ended up there on Sunday night and had an enjoyable meal. I had originally planned to eat at Heart Sushi but that restaurant had a lineup, so I went next door to Boil Plus instead. My meal consisted of the dinner for one with added sausage, and side orders of lobster chowder and sweet potato fries. I passed on the very interesting desert offerings as I am on a diet. My total bill including tax was about $31. Service was fast and efficient and I was out of the restaurant in about 40 min. Where to begin, well for starters this was my first time EVER at a seafood restaurant. However I went for a birthday party. At first glance, I noticed that it was very small. On our table we had iPads to place our orders. We were a group of 10 people, who wanted to order separately but had to wait for the iPad to be passed around I found that very annoying. Our waitress was very unwelcoming and I don't think I ever saw her smile ONCE. She probably didn't know how to or something. An older gentleman walks to our table asked how we were and when we asked him a simple question he quickly said "she's your waitress she will get it". He must have been the owner, it's best he stayed behind the back and didn't make an appearance that was not needed since he did nothing except turn our drink question around to someone else. Our waitress, never not once asked us how the food was, if she could get us anything else. Nothing along the lines of a good waitress would do. We asked her for waters and they were brought out in plastic cups, and were LUKEWARM pretty sure it was tap water. I expect that at Tim Horton's but not at a restaurant with great reviews. One of my friends asked how to place our orders and how it would work, our waitress recommended a jumbo package considering how huge of a group we were. The package was So DISAPPOINTING. It barely fed us, calamari had like maybe 8 pieces, sausage like 6 we were all very hungry and we just felt like we were getting teased with the food. Some people ate from the package some items and some of us didn't get any. Our package for 100 came with a king crab and it looked really good, when you touch the shell it was completely shallow. What exactly did they do there ? Empty it out??? That's low on any standards. After realizing that the jumbo package was not enough, we all ordered separately, like I said had to wait for the ONE iPad to be passed around. The food was meh. It wasn't ALLL that good. The food is great and very reasonably priced, and the service is always quick and friendly! The combos are great so that you can get a taste of all the different kinds of seafood, it's great for sharing too! Came to this place for lunch today and would never be back. The waiter who served us didn't really know what he was doing. He was overly talkative and we didn't feel comfortable about it. We ordered the rice on hot plate lunch combo, the picture showed on the iPad menu contained six large shrimps, rice with sweet corn and cheese topping. The order came and it had nothing look like the one in picture. Shrimps were 1/3 of the size shown and 4 shrimps were only included on the hot plate with NO TOPPINGS on the rice. We then asked the waiter and he claimed that there was a disclaimer written somewhere on the menu that the pictures were for reference only. That was the most ridiculous expectation -vs-reality lunch I've ever had. (I was so mad that I forgot to take a picture which I should have!) We picked the garlic sauce for our seafood side included in our combo and that was way too strong and salty. That didn't really matter since we have decided not to come back anyways... but then what made us really mad was that a manager was swearing at this poor waiter at most time..... in all nastiest words with no respect at all... the waiter was obvious new and needed time to adjust.. poor management.. Went here for the first time and was not impressed with the food in comparison to other seafood boil places I have been to which exceeded expectations. The lobster we ordered did not seem like it was properly cooked and the sauces lacked flavour. Also for the lobster they don't have any scissors accompanied with them to help get to break the shell and get to the meat. With regards to service, our server didn't even talk to us much there at all apart from where he told us to sit. The only reason I would give this place a two star is because it is a nice little cozy spot. read more

When we first arrived we headed straight to the washroom to wash our hands he screamed repeatedly "can I help you!." When we said we were going to use the washroom first he then said "oh ok of your not a customer sure go ahead" everyone was looking at us.He repeated prices while ordering and asked one lady if she had cash on her and when she replied yes he said "ok can I have it now" They had not even taken their gloves off yet. Visited here on Family Day with my family and wait times were extremely long due to understaffing. Waited a total of 2 hours for all of our food to come out and it wasn't even that busy. My cousin had to catch a flight that day and had to leave early. Food was okay nothing special, broth for ramen was very light so I'd advise not to get it. Waiter's service was great because of how he handled the customers and actually told new customers that the restaurant was closed to avoid disappointment. read more

The food was below average. For $20, we got 11 moderately sized crawfish which was extremely dry and bland. Definitely did not seem fresh... For $6.95, the soft shell crab wasn't too bad, however I wouldn't get it again as it was heavily fried and most of it consisted of fried batter. The cheese and macaroni dish literally just tastes like macaroni tossed in mayonnaise. Clam soup was bland. Even the corn was bland (and not very fresh as the kernels were hard and it was not juicy). The only good thing we got were the fresh oysters (6 for $12) which were decently sized and tasted very good :) Service was friendly and efficient. read more

Excellent place for seafood! In a region where there is a number of similar restaurants opening up, this one really stands out. The choices are plentiful. The sauce that came with our order (peeled shrimp and snow crab legs) was excellent and they do not skimp with the amount served either. Along with great food was amazing service. I went with my dad for lunch on Friday afternoon. Philip was a wonderful host and server. Even as it became busier, he continually gave exceptional service. My dad loved it so much, he returned for dinner with my mom the same night. I myself will definitely return another day. read more

They have the typical iPad to order, I ordered the seafood combo for 1 which consisted of "4 clams, 4 mussels, 4 shrimps, 4 sausages and fries", I also got the lobster bisque. The server & Philip were both very welcoming and made sure everything was fine when our food came. The lobster bisque had a very good flavour, it was creamy and buttery, except, I had two problems with it, it was way too watery. It would have tasted much better thicker, also there was no lobster bits as most lobster bisques would have. The seafood was great, I tried the signature sauce, it has more curry flavour than the one at LA Boil. They are quite generous with their portions as well, I got more than 4 clams . I also requested to replace the fries with rice and Philip confirmed that with no problems. Overall, the spot is a bit small, minor adjustments to be made to the soup, but I would definitely come back. read more

I have been here 3 times in the last 2 months. There's plenty of options to eat seafood in this place - from the bag to the sizzling plate, from boiled to baked, and there are items to please every member of the family, even the picky eaters. Price is very reasonable from the ala carte to the set menus. There seems to be only one main server in the restaurant but he makes sure every table is well attended and cared for. Only complain is he smokes and he goes back serving his customers without washing his hands (witnessed this on my 3 visits). Went here yesterday for a Mother's Day lunch at 1 pm - i was super excited to try this place out as I have never been to a Seafood Boil place and they were relatively new. At first impression, the place is bright and clean, it was pretty busy and the reviews online are great so was keen to bring my husband and two boys here. We had a 20 minute wait, which is expected as its the weekend and Mother's day. Once seated, the server took his time keying in something on an IPad and then handed it to us without a word. The IPad system is similar to AYCE sushi houses, only here, you have to double click on items to get their individual prices - Rookie mistake on my part but it would have been nice to be informed prior. The ONE waiter (on Mother's Day, really?) seem super rushed and would barely stick around to hear your order which could be the reason why they brought a lot of wrong things to the table that had to be sent back. I ordered quite a few appetisers (based on my AYCE misconception and well, i have two boys LOL) and they came out really SLOWWLLLYYY. My kids were starving by then so it was a gobblefest when the food came. But here's the kicker - my young boys are easy to please, easier when they are starving - they. did. not. like. anything. My husband and I were disappointed too, tasteless, over fried, overpriced garbage. I've been to cheap Pizza and wing joints that make better food than this. Their apps are TINY for the prices they charge. The main course, although over-priced was relatively better, they make okay Ramen noodles, truly the only thing i ate on their menu. They even ruined Salt and Pepper shrimp which i found quite the skill-set. We LOVE shrimp and I was shocked that they could ruin one of the easiest things to cook. After that, we tried dessert (not sure why, maybe i was seeking comfort through sugar LOL), we ordered the Godiva cheeseake and the Raspberry shortcake and the restaurant manager brought the dessert 40 mins later and it was three slices of Peanut Butter and caramel cheesecake!!! When asked why, we were told they didnt have the other two - why they would bring three slices of different dessert without letting us know prior about the shortage was Mindboggling! We were then asked to "Enjoy, OK". At this point, we were in such a rush to leave as the whole episode took 3 hours (service is SLOW). After such an abysmmal and expensive experience, i can safely say, they are scratched off my list. i will not be returning. ugh! My friends rave about LA Boil so will try that one instead and return with a hopefully better review. The owners are the same as Heart Sushi (which i frequent as I really like them) should shut this joint down. what a joke! read more

Let me start off by saying that the food was very good. The service, however, was slow, and almost non existent, especially for a Saturday. There was one person manning the bar and serving the tables. It's an iPad order setup, but that shouldn't replace a much needed human. The iPad also added an extra bit of confusion because if you don't press on the item, there's no price to be found... does that mean it's all you can eat? Well, it's not... it's all a lá cart and the prices add up. Again, the waiter was too busy to explain or ask if we've ever been here before. That would have saved us some time. We figured it out ourselves when we accidentally clicked on a photo that showed a price. The bag of seafood came out relatively quickly but It took 30 minutes to get baked scallops and oysters that take about 5 mins under the broiler. I'm pretty sure they forgot our order. I went there yesterday Dec 1,2018 for lunch. From the moment we entered, I felt the manager / owner didn't even greet us properly. It seemed like we inconvenienced him. As we seated, i explained to him that this was our first time and need more explanation on how to order. He was rude and pretty much threw the iPad on the table. The only reason I didn't get up and leave is because out of respect to my mom and didn't want to cause a scene. Few min later, another customer walks in and he was so rude that they simply walked out. His tone and his body language was negative. He should not be in front line if he doesn't have people skills. As for the food, it was not seasoned and there was like 5 table spoon of garlic which over powered the taste. I will never go to this place again. It was a waste of our time , and money. read more
