lychee and mango juice
Kristy C.

Questionable safety hazard? Pricey, small portions, and poor service for boiled food that you can probably make yourself quite easily. (literally put seafood in a bag with sauce and boil it) The restaurant itself is very nice, comfortable seating and modern décor similar to their neighbour Heart Sushi. Different to other sit-down (non ayce sushi) restaurants, this place also uses iPad order service, but there are two older Asian ladies that also tend to your needs (but are quite quiet and don't seem interested in servicing). To start, we ordered a lobster bisque. Usually cream based soups are very simple to cook, but they somehow butchered a very simple dish. I would believe it if they told me the cream they used was overdue and the soup had been sitting in the corner of the kitchen for the past 5 days. It was that bad, I was very sad. For our main, we had the singles combo, baked clams, and baked oysters. For drinks, we went with lychee juice and mango juice. The singles combo comes with shrimp, mussel, clam, and red sausage (oddly enough), and we chose the garlic sauce. It also comes with a side of fries that are surprisingly good with a crunchy exterior and soft interior, perfectly salted (like Costco fries). The baked clams and oysters are topped with mayo and cheese. The mayo had a bland and slightly tangy taste which I did not enjoy very much. For sure, all the seafood was overcooked resulting a rubbery consistency. I'm not sure if their bags are BPA proof because our simple garlic sauce had a very strange plastic taste. At the end of the night, the lychee juice and mango juice that we suspect were poured directly from their juice cans were the best part of the meal.

Very cool tablet ordering! Still so few places have it!

I've always wanted to try a restaurant like this, but this was my first time! I love this restaurant. I came with a groupon. Awesome value too! I got a pound of shrimp, a pound of mussels and a dungeness crab. Each type of seafood came in its own sauce. You choose the sauce, and specify mild, medium and hot.... I had shrimp in garlic sauce, mussels in house sauce and the crab in garlic sauce. All sauces I had were mild. All delicious! So the mussels were huge, delicious, and on the half shell. The shrimp were huge, shell and heads on, and also delicious! The dungeness crab, in mild garlic sauce, was also delicious! It came with at LEAST 10 plus claws. I love dungeness crab, and its extremely hard to find in most restaurants. Which is yet another great reason to come to this great space! The y also have a lot of other food, including fried rice with toppings, ramen, soft shell crab, and other things that sound so yummy! They also have 4 or 5 desserts. Including 2 types 8f cheesecake! Yeah! It's quite a small restaurant, so don't come here we ith 70 people! If you're coming with a group larger than 10 or 12, I'd suggest calling first 5o nske sure they can fit you in! The waitress was awesome, she handed the whole room by herself, and there certainly are about 30 seats at least! I highly recommend this restaurant!

I decided to check out this spot and left feeling happy and full. This review is going to hit a…read morehigh note on the experience and service, but I have a few notes on the price and flavor profile. Service & Atmosphere: Five Stars The service here was truly exceptional... super quick, genuinely friendly, and so very kind. From seating to check out, the staff was attentive and really made the experience a pleasure. The interior is decorated well with a fun, slightly nautical vibe, but my absolute favorite feature was the artistic touch on the way to the restroom. There are these vibrant wall paintings that are clearly designed to be photo ops, and I loved that they encouraged patrons to snap a picture. It's those little details that really elevate the atmosphere! The Captain's Boil: Good, but Different Now, to the food. Full disclosure: I lived in Georgia for 12 years, and nothing is ever going to beat a seasoned, authentic Florida crab boil in my mind. However, this boil is pretty darn good in its own right. I went with the Non-Spicy Captain Boil (which is a mixed seafood option) and loaded it up with lobster, potatoes, and an egg. The seasoning was flavorful and well-balanced, though it leaned a little less toward the heavy Cajun spice blend I'm used to. It delivered a scrumptiously satisfying seafood experience. Everything was cooked perfectly the 1.5lb lobster was tender, and the potatoes soaked up the sauce so very nicely. I would definitely go back the next time I'm craving a seafood boil.

We also got lobster with the captains boil sauce, with fries and seafood fried rice! Waitress was able to give us recommendations. The coconut curry sauce with shrimp was what she told us to try. Was a good choice! Ambiance was nice, they had hand washing stations, tons of gloves for you to use and eat with. The experience is always nice at Captains Boil.

It's clear they take pride in their little establishment. It is small, so be sure to reserve if you can! I wasn't as fond of the house sauce as I am at other places, and some of the crab pieces were a bit hollow. What it lacked in some spots, it made up in others; tons of variety, like poutine and pasta and salads. A solid choice for the west end, but if you're willing to go to brampton or toronto, there are other spots to consider.

But this place, located in a plaza on the southeast corner of Mavis & Eglinton, dispelled any negative notions I had about seafood boil restaurants. The place was very cozy, as myself and my three other lunch companions fit into a booth. We arrived right when the place opened, but soon space was getting limited as the lunch rush came to pass. And we could see why throughout our meal. We all ordered non-alcoholic mojitos first, with our choice of fruit syrup flavour; I selected pineapple. Then we each ordered our respective boil buckets; I went with shrimp and crawfish with corn and potatoes in the restaurant's namesake sauce. The servers brought the boil bags and emptied the contents onto our place, providing a dizzy aroma of spices, oil and garlic that would remain on our fingers all day. We also bought extra servings of rice to sop up the leftover sauce after our seafood was consumed. My shrimps and crawfish (which I haven't had in some time) were all finger-licking delicious, thanks to the Seau de Crabe sauce that infused every bit of meat inside the crustaceans. I would go back for future visits, seeing as how my family loves seafood, and it's not too far from our place in Mississauga!

From the outside it didn't look as impressive as other spots I've tried, but once inside, everything was spot on. The space was well organized, the staff changed the grills frequently, and the meats were fresh with marinades done just right. The deep-fried dishes were surprisingly top-notch too, with light crispy batter that beats what many a-la-carte places serve. Even the sushi rolls were much better than I expected from an AYCE place. Every item came out fresh and well-prepped, showing that they actually care about quality here. Honestly, everything felt legit. It's not easy to find an AYCE that keeps both quality and variety at this level. I wasn't a fan of their other location before, but this Mississauga one completely changed my mind. If I'm ever nearby again, this would easily be my first choice for Japanese BBQ.

I'm not sure how much my friend putting us on wait list before arriving helped but we waited about 30 mins before it was our turn. There were 5 of us (4 adults and one toddler) and we were in a booth for four adults. The booths are pretty small considering all the things you can order. Luckily our booth was against a wall with space to put the dishes that didn't fit on the table. Dinner service was very busy as it was difficult to flag down a server to order. Once we ordered, the meats came out very fast. I think the cuts offered at Shinta are high quality for an AYCE restaurant. Currently Shinta offers an order of free A5 wagyu with your dinner. Everyone really enjoyed the Wagyu, even my toddler! The sushi that they offer was also good. I opted to eat less sushi to fill up on the meat. For dessert, the majority of us got the mango pomelo sago. It was refreshing! Overall, I really enjoyed Shinta and will be having my birthday dinner here next month! They also offer a free 6" cake if you reserve at least three days in advance.

Without further ado here is my review of items I've tried over both visits: Deep Fried Shrimp in a cone (box) - I HAVE to mention the shrimps were the jumbo kind, BIG & JUICY lol, I was expecting popcorn shrimp but man did they exceed my expectations! The second time we got them it was just the same, so they are definitely consistent with the quality. Deep Fried Calamari in a cone (box) - perfectly fried calamari rings with just the right amount of chewiness & flavour. Tip: I asked for the seaside sauce on the side to dip it in & it was perfect! Seafood paella - okay I am a bit biased because I have a Venezuelan brother in law and have eaten home cooked authentic paella but this I gotta say was actually pretty good for a quick seafood bar place! The rice was fresh & flavourful & there was shrimp or squid in almost every bite! If you're looking for seafood that is not fried and some hearty rice this is a great option. Deep Fried Fish Tacos - loved these tacos and definitely getting them again, we got them with lettuce, tomatoes and guacamole. We added some type of honey sauce that gave just the right amount of sweetness without overpowering the whole meal. Crab Poutine - this dish was FILLED with cheesy goodness and their signature sea side sauce which is similar to a garlic sauce IMO Deep Fried Scallop Tacos - the scallops were perfectly fried but also juicy and chewy at the same time just as they should be, really enjoyed this one Salmon tacos - What I loved here was that the salmon was grilled and seasoned well, the toppings we got complimented it perfectly and it was a good balance with the rest of the fried food hehe Deep Fried Fish in a cone (box) - the fish was so fresh and flakey on the inside and well seasoned too, I'm definitely a fish lover lol and this was heaven to me, not sure what sort of fish was used my guess is basa maybe lol idk but it was just delish though ya know your girl wouldn't say it otherwise. Not pictured: Deep Fried Calamari Tacos - perfectly crispy calamari rings nestled in soft taco shells topped with lettuce, tomatoes and guacamole. We added the garlic sauce on this one and it was soooo yummy. Overall we absolutely relished our seafood feast and BOTH times and were super full by the end. I love everything about this place, the nautical theme, the friendly staff, the variety of options and ofcourse the quality and taste of all the food. Believe it or not but there are still things on their menu we have not tried so we will be back again to try them and obviously get some of our OG faves lol! Check them out y'all!

There were reviews on google that gave them over 4 stars so I figured we'd give it a try since I love me some seafood! The atmosphere is more fast food type. It wasn't busy since it was quite early around 5pm. Unfortunately being pregnant with gestational diabetes I am quite limited to how much carbs and sugar I can have in a meal and it was hard to choose what to get since they didn't have a nutritional breakdown. So I played it safe and ordered a shrimp cone to try. Omg. As soon as we got it, it was filled to the top of a large cone and these shrimps are massive and juicy!! None of that dry ass small ass frozen shrimp. So we decided to stay in and eat and also ordered the fried calamari and coleslaw. Each cone was $9.99. Slaw was $2.49. You can either choose to get fried or grilled. Reason for deducting one star is because although the batter was the same for the shrimp and calamari, the calamari was HELLLLLLLLA salty to the point that I had to remove all the breading. I'm coming back after I give birth so I can fully enjoy their full menu LOL
