snow crab boil

Stopped in here during a holiday weekend a few weeks back and found the overall experience fine, but nothing super memorable. When I walked in there were no workers in the restaurant and the couple in front of me were whispering to each other trying to decide if they should leave. Someone eventually popped out of the back, but a single waiter/host for the entire restaurant meant he was stretched thin. The dining room is pretty drab. The music was low. The two or three other tables of people were quiet as well. These kinds of crab spots are all about being a bit fun, but that wasn't really happening here. The food itself was solid enough. I went with a cluster of snow crab legs, clams and the sausage, potatoes and corn that come with it. Sauce could have used a bit more kick and was pretty oily. The crabs were cooked very well and tasted fresh. The clams were pretty much mush. This is my second or third visit over the years and it feels like they may be in a cutting corners stage. Unfortunate, because my first visits here were pretty good. Not horrible in a pinch if you're craving a seafood boil, but I'm not sure if I'd recommend it.

Looking for another great Cajun seafood spot in West LA? Boil Daddy have got a big parking lot, super convenient. The Cajun sauce here is authentic and mouthwatering. The lobster combo comes with two huge lobster tails and your choice of peeled or unpeeled shrimp. My must-haves? Corn and sausage--done just right in that Cajun flavor. Plus, so many wing options--our favorite is the soy garlic. Perfect for date night, game night, or a fun night out with friends! IG : socalhkfoodies

I have ordered from here before but this time I fumbled. I typically order the mild spice level but tbh it doesn't have much spice so this time I decided to order medium spice level. Big mistake. My lips were on FIRE. Milk didn't even help that much. It was inedible so I washed off the sauce lmao. Luckily I had ordered shrimp in mild flavor so I was able to use that sauce for the crab legs that were medium spice. Learn from me and don't order the medium unless you enjoy your tongue and lips on fire and numb! I placed an online order for pick up. Service was fast and friendly. Plenty of tables inside for dining. They also have a bar area for drinks. The had a step and repeat inside which was cute. There is some parking on the side of the building so that was nice.

I love cajun seafood! This place is great for seafood plate with a lot of flavors. My friend didn't really eat much usually but this time she ate like going to an AYCE. The flavor is just right and not too salty or spicy. The rice plates are also really good. Servers are very friendly. They tried to converse with us. Great vibe and wonderful food!

The restaurant looked like it's a new restaurant, was not busy at the time that I went. I was literally the only person there for a cool minute. ordered one snow cluster, which came with sausages, Potatoes, I ordered 2 boiled eggs and steamed rice. The snow cluster barely had any meat in it, however the sauce was okay. I tore it up because it was a pregnancy craving(seafood boil). I like how it was pretty close to Culver City, it was nice and clean inside. Cool looking restaurant inside, it just wasn't busy at the time I went. They left a note on my car, I kind of felt a ways because like I said I was like one of the only customers in there. It was alright, would've been better if the crab legs had more meat

We came here while in LA because we were craving seafood, but overall, the experience was just okay. I ordered the shrimp with original garlic butter and a side of potatoes. The shrimp was decent, but I didn't love it--especially after trying my date's crab, which was so much better. I also wish I had gone for a higher spice level or added some Cajun seasoning because the flavor was pretty underwhelming, and the potatoes felt the same--just kind of bland. Unfortunately, the service was a real letdown. We weren't ready to order right away, but once we were, it took forever for someone to come back. Our waters were empty most of the time, and when we were ready to pay, it was nearly impossible to get their attention. The inside of the building was full of fun decorations, so it was a fun environment. And it's always fun to eat food with our fingers! They were prepared for us to get messy, ha! If I came back, I'd definitely order the crab and go for a cajan seasoning and a higher spice level.

Finally tried out the Boil Daddy after seeing them on Postmates/UberEats, and I definitely think it's worth a try! I actually like it a bit more than Boiling Crab, which is too greasy and gives me a bit of stomach discomfort. Boil Daddy's sauce is excellent- the perfect mix of garlicky, Cajun and butter, but the medium did not have ANY spice at all (would recommend going for the highest spice level). I also thought that the seasoning was inconsistent between different dishes, as I ordered both Daddy's sauce in medium heat for my shrimp boil and shrimp bowl, but the bowl was much spicier + saltier. Overall, the seafood quality was consistently VERY fresh and high quality in both dishes, and I'd definitely try their other seafood offerings (e.g. clams, mussels, crab) next time. My only gripe is that Postmates/Uber Eats has a very weird upcharge system for their deals. The 1/2 pound of shrimp (head on) was upcharged from $10 to $15 for BOGO, and the shrimp bowls were upcharged from $16 to $22 (they even have the original prices on the app!). Granted, you're still getting a good deal where you're getting double portions for cheaper, but it does feel frustrating seeing this inconsistency in pricing. While everything was packaged well and arrived quickly, I would probably recommend checking this spot out in person since it would be cheaper than ordering online. The boil daddy is a really cool Cajun Restaurant located in west LA. I got it delivered but it came on time and it was still hot when I got it. I ordered the Cajun fires and the Daddy Shrimp Bowl. The Cajun fries were good, nice crispy and fresh with the sauce and lemon it definitely helps it level up. The Daddy Shrimp Bowl was also delicious. The potatoes were nice soft seasoned and the sausage was nice and juicy. It also came with a decent amount shrimp as well the sauce compliments it really well. Would definitely eat it again. 4/5

I am a diehard fan of Boiling Crab, but I live very close to this Boil Daddy location so we wanted to try DD for our first time and we were very impressed. It's very similar to all the other pull and peel shrimp places in that you choose your seafood, your sauce, and heat level and then they bring it out to you in a bag where you then get messy and eat the entire bag on the table southern style. I would say the pricing here is very fair, and the portion sizes are as advertised. They have a large bar inside as well as many tables but even their own website states they are more oriented toward to go orders so dining so that's probably why the service is slower compared to other shrimp places. Our server was polite but we barely saw him during our entire meal even though it was not crowded when we stopped in for a late Sunday dinner. For our first visit, we got a mix of head on shrimp and snow crab legs in the daddy sauce at the hottest level. The spice heat level is not nearly as strong as Boiling Crab so honestly I would suggest everyone just get the hottest sauce level because it really isn't that hot (and I say this as a western white guy). Everything that we ordered was cooked as we liked and aside from the slow drink refills we had a great meal. I would suggest to any fan of peeled shrimp, although just be aware that this place is more geared toward to go orders.

The food was bomb! i had the daddy noods, friends had seafood boil, wings and fish and chips plate. everything was so delicious and spicy! even the mild is pretty spicy and we love spice! We did have to ask several times for water, sauce that my friend never got and gloves so that my friend could eat her seafood boil. they weren't that busy. also, we had went over the checks and they were messed up twice. he was rude about the whole thing, we didn't get checked up on and we were missing a lot of things on each our order. the food is delicious don't get me wrong, but the service was really bad. it was my friends birthday and we were really disappointed. we waiting about 15 minutes for new checks, our original waiter didn't want to help us anymore so we had to flag down another one. the service was poor. that's why 2 stars. great music tho, lol! our new waiter who separated our checks was very nice and patient! he had black glasses, thank you sir.

Incredible prices and loved the flavor! I went in on a Saturday but there was designated parking (yay)! I also didn't wait at all which is always a plus. After much contemplation, I ended up getting a pound of shrimp with potatoes and got the spiciest option because I read that the other reviews said they run on the sweeter side. But this ended up actually being a little too spicy for my liking, which is my fault lol. But the flavor was amazing! Perfect blend of spices and sweetness. They also have a really good deal from Monday-Thursdays, so definitely would want to be back during that time. The ambiance is a lively vibe, and the service was also good! They give you a whole case of gloves to use and a bib (5/5 stars for that)! The only thing is that I had an upset tummy after eating this. Still would say it's worth it though! I'll definitely come back!

I got there with my mother and was greeted by a very lovely gentleman named Clark. He told us we could sit wherever so we seated ourselves in the outside area. He came over right away with the menus and asked if we had been there before to which we responded had not. He went over the menu with us and answered any questions we had regarding the menu. He was very sociable and friendly. We chatted with him and put in an order for the Kiwi Chowder. I ordered a Modelo and my mother ordered a glass of orange blend wine. He came over with the drinks a while later and the Kiwi chowder and have us plenty of time to sit and enjoy the dish before we ordered our main courses. The kiwi chowder was delicious and came with little crackers. The clams and mussels were so tasty and the Ora King Salmon was a nice treat. After a while he came back and served me the Fisherman's Mixed Basket and my mother got the Fish tacos with fish of the day for them being Sword Fish. The fisherman's basket was amazing and paired perfectly with my beer. I had never had clams, mussels, snapper, and oysters all together and they were so good I wish I could have them more frequently. The place was very cute and sat quietly with good music playing. Not current music but music that really fit the place and set the vibe. I will be coming back here and if you ever go, there is no bad choice for the fish, the service is stupendous and I haven't gotten anything like it in forever, and if you meet Clark enjoy a friendly conversation with him.

After this first experience, this place is about a solid three stars for me. I may come back again if in Santa Monica... I am still a bit under the weather and drove here because I wanted some kind of seafood soup. They offer three different kinds of soups which I appreciated! There is NE clam chowder, Manhattan clam chowder and a fish chowder. Since I dont always see fish chowder on the menu, I ordered a small bowl. I wanted a larger bowl and a place to sit down and eat it but the place was packed for lunch and I didnt feel like grabbing a spot at their bar as I needed to get back on the road, so just went with the small (and I am glad I did - read on to see why). They have a funny system here because you only order their menu items from a cashier in the back, but then take a number if you want fresh seafood. I wanted to try their Hawaiian style poke and cashier had me go and grab a number. I grabbed a number and it wasn't busy so I was served immediately. For a 1/4 lb of Hawaiian poke, it was about $9.50. Whats also strange is that I grabbed my soup (did not pay for it in the back), and my Hawaiian poke and then paid up front. Everything came close to $20. I sat in my car, (which thank goodness, this seafood market has its own parking lot, so that was greatly appreciated), and dug into my soup. Unfortunately, the soup was pretty bland and needed a bit more salt. But, I will say that the ingredients used in the fish chowder were all very fresh, and fish wasnt overcooked, but it needed to be seasoned more. Hawaiian poke was great, excellent taste. Overall, a so so experience, I would have liked better scenery to eat my food being I was very close to the beach and wished I had a more seasoned fish chowder. I could be convinced to come back and give it a second try, but I think I might prefer to visit Malibu Seafood which isnt too far from here and has great ocean views.
