I went to this great restaurant for one of Yelps events. It was an awesome place, tucked in at the quaint town of Monte Rio. I ate from the appetizer served. I understand the chef is known by CJ and I want to thank her m for the delicious apps he prepared for us. Thank you ! The ceviche was out of this world. The humus was flavourful and the fresh tortilla chips were delicious. The hamburger slider was fantastic. Korbel did the bubbly but that's a different review. Some of the folks ate at the restaurant and said that food was also delicious, namely the fettuccine. Lots of ways to eat and enjoy your visit here. Great bartender- Megan was awesome , cute clean rooms . I only wish the restaurant was open. But our bartender made us a snack. Carrots , ranch , pretzels and some wasabi peas. It is a small 14 unit inn. So I understand why they can't leave or have a restaurant open all week long. Close to a small grocery market if ya want some coffee or a snack. This review is for the Inn, we stayed for three nights in a garden view, it's the smallest room i ever stayed in. The bathroom is so tiny no place to put toiletry, has the worse bed I ever slept in any Inn/hotel i stayed in, it's too lumpy, waking up with sore back and there are spiders on the bathroom and bed room ceiling (mentioned the spider to Laurie and she said "were surrounded by trees", it's nothing to her). During our whole stay the room was never clean, even when we had a sign on the door for it to be clean. I find that Laurie is defensive whenever I approached her for things that needs to be done, she asked me what time I put the sign on the door to be clean; obviously we put it out in the morning when we left and came back in the afternoon and found it's not clean. She came up to the room and provided room supplies , took the garbage out, gave us extra water and offered cocktails to p/u at the bar (we didn't partake on the cocktail, if she willing to give us a cocktail she should delivered it in the room). However the location and outside amenities makes up for the bad customers service and the unpleasant room experience. We enjoyed our time on the deck. It will be a wonderful experience if we had a good customer service experienced. I forgot to mentioned, I was charged full price, 3 days prior to the check in schedule. I have never experienced this type of billing before. We had high hopes for this place.We tried twice on this trip to eat here. Yelp's hours conflict with those on the restaurant's website. It wouldn't take much for the restaurant to correct this. When we tried to go a 2nd time, we made a reservation. When we arrived, there was a rope across the entrance stating there was an event until 7PM. Our reservation was for 7:30, and we arrived on time to find a wedding reception in progress. Staff seemed shocked when we mentioned we had a reservation. All of the staff were friendly and clearly overworked and not their fault the event/restaurant was understaffed. The 1st time we got up to leave, we were reassured they could take care of us. We got place settings (with a curious 2nd setting delivered 10 minutes later). And that was all we got. As we were going to our car, the owner/manager asked if we were taken care of. He seemed to want to blame the staff, though he did apologize. A few recommendations for him: 1) close the public restaurant portion when you have a private event. 2) have staff check reservations 3) hire more staff and give them more training 4) update your hours on Yelp 5) don't blame the staff for your mismanagement. We are regular, long time Monte Rio visitors, and even stayed at the hotel many times years back (different owners then). Yes, the river is casual and we were eager to try the restaurant. Not sure if we'll give it another chance or not. The restaurant is too expensive for this level of disorganization. Would love to have had another good dining option in the area besides wonderful Hazel and Light Wave. Two stars because it's a lovely setting and everyone was friendly. read more

I love this place!!! Lori, Chris, and Kris (yes, two Chris's) will take such great care of you. They all work in tandem and they take great care of you when you come here. Stayed here the third weekend in May 2025 nobody ever seemed to be at the front desk at all! No matching light fixtures, terrible small soft mattress, cables hanging off the TV, one small garbage can, tacky wallpaper, a room the size of a sleeping car on a train, somebody scraping and knocking on my window to try to get in, no security, cold coffee, out of English muffins, frozen butter, no ice, tiny towels... all for $300/nite. The setting transports you to another time and place - it's super atmospheric. I loved our outdoor table that looked out on the river, as well as the landscaped lawns with elegant white loungers. Sunset time is best. The food was tasty. The service was very slow but it didn't bother us because of the relaxed vibe on the river. We were in no rush and really enjoying our dinner. I just read the one star review left by, Beatriz M., mad at them because they didn't have a chef all I can say is that lady needs have some empathy. Just moved into the area and followed the Yelp guidance of finding a restaurant. Boho is under new ownership and recently remodeled. Funky cool vibe to this place. It is part of a hotel and they are enmeshed. The service was great, food was delicious and we will coming back. If you want a quite dinner sit in the main dinning room away from the bar. Delicious Gumbo and Steak in a lovely setting. I'm not sure how long this place has been around but it's a hidden gem. True to its name, Bohemian and a little funky, the food was standout! I want to start by saying that the food that I was served was delicious and the staff couldn't have been more friendly. However, I want to detail the experience I had because I would hope for more, given the price tag. I made a reservation for 6:30pm and when I checked into the Manor for our wedding anniversary, asked if we could push to 7pm. They said that wouldn't be a problem. We arrived at dinner at about 7pm and waited for about 5 minutes (with nobody at the front of house) to be greeted and seated. After being seated, we were informed that the restaurant had run out of 4 items (two of which we had decided in advance that we had wanted). I think we should have been told before being seated that they were out of these items, as the menu isn't large, and it makes it awkward for the guest to seat them and then tell them that items aren't available. We ordered drinks. My wife doesn't drink alcohol but the bartender made a delicious mocktail and graciously provided it on the house, which was a very nice touch. Additionally, we ordered appetizers of artichoke hearts and Caesar salad. Both were delightful. My wife ordered fillet mignon, medium rare, which came with mushrooms. She asked to substitute asparagus, as she doesn't like mushrooms. The waitress said she thought that would be fine. I ordered the rack of lamb, as it came with a side that didn't have dairy (couscous), as I try to limit my dairy intake. I was not asked how I would like my lamb cooked. My wife was served ribeye (not fillet) that was cooked to be well done - it was quite tough. Nothing was said about this substitution. Additionally, she was served neither the asparagus nor the mushrooms. The waitress noticed the missing asparagus and told her she'd check with the cook, who confirmed that the restaurant was out of asparagus. I was served my lamb which was cooked rare (and that's putting it generously). I decided to try it, and it turned out to be delicious although I'd be uncomfortable serving something so rare in a restaurant setting (I eat my meat relatively rare at home). It was served over a bed of mashed potatoes, with cream. At this point, with how many hiccups we'd had, I decided not to mention it to the waitress and just not eat the potatoes. While we were eating our entrees, we overheard the cook come out of the kitchen and tell the waitress, "We're out of absolutely everything." The waitress seemed flustered. After we finished our meal, I asked to see a dessert menu. The waitress told us that there was no dessert menu, but that the restaurant had ice cream and lava cake. My wife loves lava cake, so she ordered that. I did not order dessert. After a couple more minutes, the waitress came back and informed us that the restaurant was out of lava cake but that they'd be happy to serve us cheesecake instead. We passed and asked for the check. We received the check, which came out to be $165 before tip. We tipped roughly $40 in cash, so the total bill came out to just over $200. Needless to say, I was very disappointed in this price tag given what I've mentioned above, but recapped below: 1) Restaurant was out of 4 items, two of which we were planning on ordering but were only informed that they weren't available after being seated. 2) Ordered fillet medium rare with a sub of asparagus but served ribeye well done with no side. Later informed that the restaurant was out of a 5th item and the different protein was not mentioned. 3) Not asked how I want my lamb cooked and served almost blue. Additionally, selected this entrée because of the lack of dairy in the side and served instead mashed potatoes with dairy. 4) Overheard cook explaining that the restaurant was out of everything, which we really should have been informed of before being seated and asking for multiple things that were not able to be provided. 5) Being told two items were available for dessert, asking for one, being told that the restaurant was out of that as well (6th item) and being offered a different dessert item that wasn't originally offered. 6) Receiving a check for such a large amount for two people, given all of the items listed above. I reached out to the restaurant's support staff via email, who apologized for my experience and offered a free drink if I return. I'd like to point out that they are offering me a free drink in the event that I spend another $100 to travel there, $250 minimum on lodging, and $200 on a meal (assuming I don't just go there and ask for a free drink). I would have given them two stars, but this response dropped my review to one star. Will not be returning and will not be recommending this place to anyone else. This also does not include my less than ideal experience staying at the manor, which included the smell of rotting food, fruit flies, and someone else's pubic hair in in the shower. read more

You could hear the chef yelling in the kitchen. The food was overpriced with minimal selection. Dead flys n the window sills, food on the carpet. The only good thing was the view of the river but you can get that at many other places. Not sure why they fired Jason the only sever that was attentive. We tried a second time but no luck. We did not have the experience that seems to be reflected in a lot of reviews here. We had a very nice, well attended brunch. Our server Chris was very kind to us and our dogs. We sat outside on the balcony and Chris was very quick to turn on heaters for us. Our orders were taken at a nice pace, food delivered at a nice pace. We were in and out in about an hour. This is regarding the restaurant. We made reservations for my birthday dinner and when we got there there was no reservation. Our reservation was for a river view seat and even though no one was sitting at the tables we were told we couldn't sit there. Staff was rude except for hostess and unempathetic and less than accommodating. We left. The end of my special day that my boyfriend planned ended in disappointment. Please BEWARE of this hotel. I booked a room on Expedia and did not realize until I called the hotel within 20 minutes, that they charge 60.00 per night for a dog. So I asked to cancel and the woman that answered said there would be a $50.00 charge. And that I would need to cancel through Expedia..fine..but what really happens is they charge you $156.00 for the first nights stay that is unrefundable!!! I promptly called the front desk lady and said why can't I get a full refund minus the$ 50.00 She said it was hotel policy and that was that! I was trying to explain in this economy it's a real struggle to even get to go to a hotel for a 20 year anniversary. I asked to Please reconsider and asked is there anything I can do to get my money back..she laughed and said sorry mama! I was crying by then because the tone and lack of care on this person was horrendous and cruel! Please stay away from such places. Let me add that no where on the Expedia website did it mention a dog fee nor on the hotel website. All it says is dog friendly. Expedia was wonderful and tried to do what they could do but ultimately the hotel has the control of your credit card information. This was a hard lesson to learn on a tight budget! Its a glorious spring at the Russian River, and a good time to visit this restaurant. During Happy Hour, enjoy a cocktail on the deck or on the lounge chairs in the grass. We had an amazing dinner last night, sitting inside the restaurant, but still able to enjoy the view and sunset. I had the salmon, and my husband chose the rib eye steak. We both ordered our food medium rare and both were done to perfection. The vegetables were crispy and fresh, and the potatoes perfectly spiced and salted. This place is super cool. In the summer relax and dine on the deck and watch over the gorgeous Russian River. In the winter stay warm inside while watching the River. All year long take advantage of the outdoor fire pit or indoor speakeasy that features live jazz some nights. The gent that runs the speakeasy will make you feel at home and always has a joke ready. I made a reservation for 5pm on 7/25 for the four of us and chose to sit on a table on the deck. Arrived to hear that there were no tables available on the deck. They said we could sit in the lower deck, so we did. Waited for someone to take our order, but no one showed up. My wife took our order for the four of us and found the waitress. She took our order, but said it would be quite some time as they were understaffed. Never brought our waters. After a while we cancelled our order and left. If you are understaffed, then don't allow more reservations than what you can handle! read more

READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE YOU BOOK!!!! So I'm writing this review BEFORE my stay, so this will be a first. I typically hold a company retreat with a nice dinner to celebrate a new year with my employees and their significant others. I try and make these reservations with much advance notice. In addition to a nice dinner, I typically pay for them to stay overnight so that they can enjoy themselves and not worry about having to drive back home. For some reason, I decided to check online at the menu, as I had made the reservations back in 2024, and restaurants like to change their menus sometimes seasonally. I was getting ready to send out an email to my employees about the upcoming weekend schedule and I was surprised to see that their website indicated that the restaurant was closed and would not re-open until February 8th. My reservations are next weekend on February 1st. I called the hotel immediately, and was told that the manager would get in touch. I get a text message and basically got a (FU) "Sorry for the inconvenience. Take care". Were they going to even call and let us know? Where am I going to find a restaurant that serves 12 people on such short notice? At this point, I don't even want to stay at their hotel and feel like cancelling all 6 room reservations. Since it's in 1 week, their cancellation policy is for a night's stay, and they cancelled my dinner reservation so I can't cancel the 6 rooms and look for another place because now I would be subject to basically the full reservation of over $1,500. There is no customer service!!! The managers don't appear to be on duty, and the poor person who answers the phone (off site) really has no clue as to what is going on and can't transfer the calls to any real person in charge. I really should have read the reviews prior to booking here. I also got two different stories. One was this "chef had a family emergency" and the other was that the "chef quit". The food is outstanding. It was the best meal I have had in years. The presentation, portion size, seasoning, and preparation were excellent! We were a group of 8. Oh my! Where do I start? This Vintage, Beautiful old hotel & restaurant is a pure delight. Whether you eat inside the lovely Dinning room, or choose to sit outside on their deck, you will have amazing views of the river, & gorgeous redwood forest. The people working there are so friendly, & attentive. And the food was high quality & delicious. I had the Duck A La Orange, with a delightful rice dish, & grilled veggies. ( asparagus, carrots, & zucchini). The duck was so tender, the sauce was amazing. My hubby had the Rib Eye steak & loved it. We shared a spring salad, & some clam chowder. The chowder came with French bread that was still hot from the oven. They had delicious looking desserts, but we were too full. Also, they have a brunch / breakfast that we are coming back to try. We will definitely be regular customers. What a lovely experience! And a great place if you are having guests , to have them stay there. read more
