We stayed here for a short weekend getaway. It's tucked away in a beautiful location overlooking the Russian River. We stayed here in early spring, and the back patio is not fully open during this time of the year. We still got a chance to enjoy the views. I really wanted a charming, eccentric hotel for one night's stay near Guerneville. This was for a romantic getaway and I was looking for something special. I read the spotty reviews, but thought the bad reviews were mostly due to the small size of many rooms. We had probably the nicest room, Deluxe River View Studio D, second floor with newer windows overlooking the river and a newly installed floor. Despite its history, fantastic location and charming grounds, I can't recommend this place at all (except to visit for a few hours on lazy afternoon on the river, like some locals did during our stay). Its best years are long, long gone. I ordinarily love these types of properties, and want to support them, but this place had a very poorly maintained structure, unkempt exterior, disorganized and insufficient staff, with obviously neglected gardens/grounds (tree/plant debris, cobwebs, dusty, etc.). "Deferred maintenance" probably best description for this place. It's obvious this place is barely hanging on. Our room was adequate, but the bed was rock hard, there was a huge cobweb over the bed, spiders in the shower, and the curtains to the tiny balcony (which was filthy and uninviting) were cheap and transparent (no privacy provided). The route, stairs and outside balcony leading to our room was dark and dirty - the hotel is located under trees and tree litter, cobwebs, and dirt/dust were everywhere. We were also the only ones staying there and no staff was on the property at night. Making matters worse, the room was absurdly overpriced. For the $350/night paid, I expected much, much higher quality throughout the property - inside and out, adequate staffing, a spotless room with higher quality furnishings and a comfortable bed. At $350/night, I expected a very different experience. If the room was $150 or $175, it would be easier to overlook its flaws and not feel like a sucker tourist. (We next stayed at The Madrones in Philo for the same rate - completely different experience and well worth it.) The few bright spots: the female bartender was friendly and accommodating, and the location with the interesting, terraced exterior leading down to the river. I would never recommend this place, and truly wish I'd selected something else in the area. read more

AGAIN, DO NOT GO TO BOHO! I am writing this on 8/28/2026, eight days after our unpleasant and unsatisfactory experience with BOHO. 1. WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED A REFUND of our almost $500 that they took from us. We have called BOHO a few times and were told that they had put our refund on hold. When we contacted Booking.com, they said that the hotel was NOT going to give us a refund. They are LYING when thy say they are prepared to give us a refund. 2. Both the "AI Virtual Concierge" and a human receptionist took our phone number and said that a manager would call us. We NEVER received a call back from anyone at the hotel. 3. In BOHO's ads, the description of the rooms said there MAY be stairs to the rooms. It did NOT say that the access to our assigned room had lots of steep stairs. It did NOT say that they have NO elevators. BOHO is really a motel and not a hotel. 4. After a hour of wandering around BOHO, someone did appear at the motel. He was kind and empathetic but there was no way that he could correct the long steep stairs that my wife, who is 82 years old, could not climb. I am 80 years old. BOHO's management should be stating clearly when assigning rooms, the number of stairs and how steep they are to get to those rooms. It should aslo clearly state BOHO does not have any elevators. It should not give the false impression that it is prepared to give us a refund when they have no intention to give us a refund. read more

Really comfortable beds, spacious room, chic decor, and great lighting. My husband and I had a memorable staycation, and wish to return soon. Next time, we will book the other side of the property with garden views and full bathroom. They have everything you need here for some R&R. I enjoy getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city. I like waking up and having breakfast amongst mother nature surrounded by redwood trees, not necessarily hike amongst them. This kind of weekend getaway is good for the body, mind and soul. This exceptional resort is simply magical. I wanted to go glamping up here, but who am I kidding? I am more of a resort type of gal. You can book a massage online and relax all day. You don't have to be a guest to enjoy the delightful grounds. This immaculate property is rich in history. Highly recommend meandering around this beautiful property while learning about the days of Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire. I feel like tap dancing my way through this charming landscape. For those who like the water, the infamous Russian River is your playland. There is a restaurant on-site and speakeasy bar behind a secret door. I don't want to spoil it for those reading this. Just see for yourself and book a weekend stay, or take the scenic route. It makes for a nice day out in Monte Rio - Russian River - Guerneville area. Had a great time talking to several new players and some long timers. It was an exceptionally hot day and evening!! Complimentary Rose sparkling was offered in addition to 2 white wines, a chalk hill Chardonnay and a Ferrari Carrano Pinot Grigio, as well as 2 beers, a Savannah Pale Ale and an Octoberfest Pulaner!! Big styles for beers in the heat! We had an Hamburger slider with fries and a Pinot Grigio and it was quite good!! Then made it back over to the main venue area and enjoyed listening to Christine! This historical resort nestled in the heart of Sonoma County on the Russian River that has been around since the early 1900's is now under new management/ownership. Formerly known as the Village Inn, it is now called the Boho Manor. We attended an event here and had decided to stay to be able to check out this place and not have to drive the windy roads at night. Located in the quaint town of Monte Rio and approximately 15 minutes from Guerneville is truly a new gem in the Russian River Area. We arrived early to meander around the property and explore the area. The grounds of the resort has a lot of river side seating that you can eat and drink while enjoying watching the kayaker's and those with pets make there way up and down the Russian River. We eventually met up with Lori who was working the reception desk at this time, we chatted with her about the history of the place that she knew and the historical claim to fame of the shooting of some scene's from the movie Holiday Inn with Bing Crosby and bunch of other notable celebrities in the 1940's era. The check-in time is 3:00, they where running a little behind on having the rooms ready by then due to being down 1 person on their housekeeping staff. Though to make up for that, we accompanied Lori to the bar area and was treated to a cocktail of our choice while waiting for the room to be finished cleaning. So around 3:30 we headed up to our room. The room we stayed in was quite spacious and had a river view with a window that opened up to let the fresh river air in and to enjoy the view. They have utilized smart locks for the doors on the rooms, you use a number assigned to you to unlock the door, no having to keep it with a hard key or key card. The bed was extremely comfortable, after our event that evening we retired back to our room, laid down and found myself sound asleep within minutes. All in all this place was super charming, very inviting and very accommodating staff. Be sure to visit the free coffee/water/juice bar downstairs and other quick snacks. read more

This place is not what it seems. We recently booked a room after viewing their website and social media pages but were extremely let down. The room was filthy and outdated. In the room, there was dead bugs on the walls, live bugs in the carpet, stained carpets, stains on the walls, chipped paints, dusty fans, a moldy shower, and exposed electrical hazards. We paid for the option to have champagne and a charcuterie board in the room as advertised, of course this was not there. We were still charged for the service. All of the amenities were closed and it should be noted that they are only available to private events. We attempted to seek help for all of these issues and were ignored. We were really hoping to support a small business and purchase a better room and were denied the request due to management not being at the site and lack of a front desk staff member. My 89 year old mother and i arrived on a rainy day at 4:30 to check in to a 2 bed suite i had repeatedly confirmed i was getting. The room code had been texted. However when entered the room (after a long 9 hour drive) we found the room apparently in use or not cleaned from nite before. No one was at the front desk. A number in case of emergency was on a plack instead. After calling the number a woman called back and replied she woukd return to the property to help us. By 7pm myself and my mother were still having to wait for a place to sleep. The hostess provided us with 2 room not ajoined and said we would not be charged as i had triple checked prior to reserving that the suite with 2 beds was what i was paying for. Well, i called 4 times, emailed 4 times over a course of 2 weeks with not a single reply. My money was not refunded and a bait and switch had been made. This review is as a local, and only for dining, beverages, and dancing. I've never stayed at the hotel. I've dined here at least a dozen times - every meal has been wonderful and I appreciate the chef changing the offerings quite frequently (I heard the menu even changes weekly?). The recipes are always good and varied, and I particularly love dining in the side room, upstairs - what I call the Victorian cocktail room - it has such a wonderful, cozy, and welcoming feel. The host and waitstaff are very kind, attentive, and professional. Three of the five times, service has been a little bit slow, so if you are in a rush, be aware that it can run at a bit of a slower pace, which definitely can be appreciated and enjoyed if you are there to relax. I can appreciate the slower 'river' pace. I've also frequented the wonderful cozy and updated Speakeasy bar (Yes! Downstairs and hidden behind the bookcase!!). The bartender prepares delectable craft cocktails, and you'll often find live, talented local entertainment on the weekends, such as swanky sassy jazz. One of my favorite touches is you will find the cocktail menu carefully hidden amidst pages in an old book - so clever and lends to the feel of the whole experience! As of this writing, you'll find a local DJ spins some fun, vintage disco via "Funk Fridays"; always a booty-moving vibe! They also host a quarterly vintage-esque burlesque show outside on the expansive lawn, resplendent with lights and torches, which is quite spectacular, too. While I've visited several times throughout the year and enjoy any season here, Summer is hands-down the most magical when you can lounge out on the lawn in the ample seating. There are many social areas. Or, you can sit quietly alone, listening to river sounds and birdsong. Sitting there, overlooking the river as the Sun sets by the toasty fire pit is a favorite! Lots of options! My only word of caution: If you're heading to the Speakeasy in hopes of a cocktail or meal outdoors during the Summer, you'll want to be sure to check before visiting as they *frequently* host weddings and other private events that close the Speakeasy bar to the public. I've made the mistake of bringing visiting friends to Boho Manor without calling beforehand only to find we can't be served as the Speakeasy is closed due to a private event. However, you can always go to the very nice bar upstairs, for the same yummy cocktails you can find downstairs. Either way, it's an overall gem of a place! Enjoy! read more

So very tasty with a nice rich fettuccini Alfredo sauce, with a delicious Caesar Salad. We were also able to check out the speakeasy, hidden behind a bookcase. This place is the perfect romantic getaway with endless fun wether you want to lounge on the lawn with the fabulous views or take a swim on the Russian River and at night enjoy the live music event at the Bar with the unique cocktail drinks or enjoy a romantic dinner with the Honey. We had an incredible evening with jazz music and Burlesque show. The cocktails were our highlight of the night along with the Jazz singer Coco. Will definitely come back on my anniversary. Third, the place has a strong Gatsby vibe which is fairly cool (except the endless stream of loud genre jazz music for several hours in the afternoon). One star for the nice and friendly front desk lady, one star for the view. We were here for brunch around 11:30 am with my dog. We asked the front desk lady if dog is allowed, she said yes, and she interacted with my dog for a while, we were all pretty happy with that, and obviously my dog is friendly and well trained, just a little bit excited when people talking to him, but for sure not disruptive. During our visit, my dog barked once or twice (not continuously) when the waiter spoke to him. My dog is on a very short leash under my legs all the time during our brunch, but the waiter seemed scared and insisted we pay a pet fee and asked us to put the dog in our room. However, we were not staying at the hotel, plus my dog is a PSA dog, the waiter doesn't have the right to ask me to put him in the room. The waiter then placed our coffee two tables away and instructed us to retrieve it ourselves, which felt very uncomfortable and unwelcoming. While I understand that not everyone is comfortable around dogs, I believe the situation could have been handled more professionally and with greater consideration for customer service. Let me start off by saying, DO NOT LISTEN TO THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS!!! This place was awesome. I spent the entire week here with my S/O and we had the most relaxing/enjoyable stay. When first booking our stay, we were reading the reviews and were hesitating about going through with this place, but I'm sure glad we did. The location is amazing, the rooms were clean and cozy, and the staff were super helpful and inviting! Now, if you're expecting a resort vibe and to be waited on hand and foot, this probably isn't the place for you. Boho Manor is all about serenity and privacy in my opinion. The layout is perfectly spread out to where you're not forced to be around other guests and have your own space. If you need anything and ask the staff, they're very helpful and accommodating. They currently are going through a new staff change so please bear with them and be courteous! This place is very pet friendly, so if you have a furry companion you like to travel with and let them know before hand, they will make sure your pets are set up for a warm welcome. The location is beautiful. You're right on the river and there's a beautiful dock that leads right out to it. There's plenty of outside seating and lounge area to spend your whole day outside. There's lovely fire pits for the evening and outside dining seating to enjoy a well prepared meal from the restaurant. We stayed during the week, so we got to experience the restaurant on Thursday night. Everything was delicious! Crab cakes were on point and so was the breaded chicken. Every cocktail we had was lovely. The bar is open daily from 4pm-9pm (call before hand because sometimes they close a little early). There's also a speakeasy that's open on the weekends! I felt like our stay could've been much, much better. My advice is to not book a room here. I would suggest to visit their restaurant so you can experience the Russian River view and bar. Pros: -Staff is super nice and helpful when you do run into them -Their restaurant's food was good but definitely on the pricier side -The bartenders don't skimp on the alcohol -The view of the Russian river from the inn was absolutely gorgeous -Live music at the speakeasy on Saturday nights Cons: -You're on your own when you check in. No one is there to greet you. Kind of something you want when you don't know where your room is located amongst the different buildings, what times services are available, or what other amenities they provide -No cellular service in this area. Not their fault but something to take into consideration when you're using GPS to get around town or if you want to make a call -We stayed in one of the garden view rooms. I booked it knowing it would be on the smaller side, but it was not well maintained. There was lint, dust, and hair scattered throughout the bed and furniture. The bathroom itself was incredibly small and outdated. Didn't match the style of the room. There was also a family of daddy long leg spiders in there. -Room service was unavailable once the restaurant closed at 9:30PM so if you want any food or water, you're going to have to wait until morning. -There is an open shed with two vending machines. They ate our money so we asked one of the staff members. Apparently it has been broken for quite some time. I think an out of order sign or simply closing the shed doors could help with the confusion -All of their patio furniture was heavily stained. Easy to see due to the white cushions. -During our stay, there were at least 2 parties going on at the inn. It was so loud and crowded in the common areas, we ended up spending the evening in our room. -There is just not enough staff to accommodate the amount of people staying/visiting I can't justify how it costed over $300 per night for a standard room here. The pictures and reviews posted online did not match what I experienced at Boho Manor. read more

DO NOT STAY ON WEEKENDS Our sleep was constantly disrupted by loud music, after asking the staff it's it's possible to turn it down at midnight, the music kept going loudly as well as the staff members who were shouting outside our window. Overall we could not sleep until the music finally stopped at 3am. This should have been disclosed when we made the booking, and since the staff have not been at all attentive to our complaints, this really soured our stay and we will likely not go back. read more

This place was nice, but I got charged twice because the person in the front couldn't figure out how to use the system, then when I checked out he said be sure to call and sound angry so you can get your money back. Had to pay 884.80 when I got there on top of the 482.13 I already paid! Because he didn't know how to take off a day that I already paid for. The breakfast was cold and took an hour because the chef was late, so the front desk had to go in the back and help. The toast was so hard it could have broken your tooth. Cold omelet! Burnt toast and the server were too busy trying to please the other people who were upset with their cold breakfast and didn't even bother to help us. why I paid or even tipped is beyond me, or maybe I just felt bad. I ate a cold breakfast because by the time I traveled somewhere else, they'd be serving lunch. Saturday morning, we left the hotel around 9 a.m. and asked if we could get our room cleaned, we came back at 5 p.m., and someone was just staring to clean it. Imagine coming back to the hotel after a long day, hoping to take a shower and have a nap nope! Again, the front desk said we would have someone clean it right away. Our outdoor patio area chairs were full of bird poop, I got it nature, but at least cleaned them before guest arive the place was a mess for what I paid for. I stayed at a motel 6 once because I had no choice, and it was at least more organized than this place. read more

The staff and owner are all so hospitable and kind, it feels like home every time I stay here The restaurant has amazing food and cocktails, and the whole back area is beautiful and right on the river. Every single negative review of this place is spot on. Place is disgustingly dirty like multiple other guests stated. Like other guests also stated no one is around for check in. Couch cushions on the patio of our room and the ones down by the dock were filthy. Hot tub is not a hot tub it has a sprinkler sitting in it shooting water all night. Was greeted night 1 trying to check in by a drunk kid working in the restaurant. No one cleaned the room or brought towels on day 2. Day 3 when we checked out I forgot my iPad on the bed. We live 2.5 hours away so when I realized I checked find my app. The iPad was still on and in the room at boho manor. Tried getting ahold of anyone to grab it for me but of course it is impossible to get ahold of anyone at this place. Monday they finally reached out and tried to gaslight me into believing I left it somewhere on the premises. Also attempted to tell me they have cameras so no one could have taken it. I said perfect then you can check those same cameras and see that I never left it anywhere there. I actually never left the room with it. I was given multiple excuses and told how honest the staff is. Just know for a fact THESE PEOPLE STOLE MY IPAD. look at the other negative reviews and believe them. This stunning resort/B&B is right on the Russian River. The history of this hotel is fascinating. The new decor only enhances it's history. There is even a speakeasy with a hidden entrance that features live music. The owners have really put a lot of unique touches into this place... from a beautiful hot tub outside over looking the redwoods and river, to kayaking, and fire pits. Do not stay here. I thought catfishing was exclusive to dating apps...nope. This was the catfish of catfish. How does this place have 4.5 stars on Yelp?! Let's start from the beginning... My wife and I were heading up the coast on our honeymoon and we needed a middle point between SF and Mendocino to break up the drive, so we chose this hotel because it had such great reviews. The photos looked lovely. It had a charming feel with a bit of trendiness. That was the hook that caught us. We walked up the the front desk when we arrived to see a sign saying that there was no staff on duty and to refer to our email for a door code for our room. Literally no hotel workers were working at this entire place. We went and searched for our room and stumbled on a bar area. A nice lady was working the bar and a gentleman was sitting there enjoying a beer. Okay, so they don't have staff but they have a bartender. We introduced ourselves and told her that we were checking in and that it seemed weird that nobody was there. It was a decent size place. She stopped what she was doing and went to our room and helped us open our door. Remember, this was the bartender. Then when we went to get our bags, the guy that was enjoying his beer at the bar walked up to me and said he was willing to help get my bags. I was confused. Does he work here? He kept saying "welcome to our hotel" so I assumed he did. Weird since he was halfway down a beer sitting at the bar. Then he walked us around and told us about a hot tub which was green and disgusting, and he pointed to a room that had a "sauna". Folks, it was a 3 foot sitting area off the hot tub. Not a sauna. To make things even more weird, we decided to go sit on the outdoor furniture, which was stained, once we got acclimated and each sitting area had a button that said "push for service". Push for who?? Literally nobody was working there. Was it going to be the guy who was drinking at the bar or the bartender who was doubling as a host? So strange. It was something straight out of a horror movie. Like who is running this huge place? We went and tried to get info from the bartender. It said there is a restaurant but nobody was there. Is there one? She said we'd have to go into town to get food. Restaurant was closed. Okay. So we drove to town and got pizza and eventually returned to the hotel. Now the bartender was gone and nobody was on-site. We went around the side and sat by a fire pit that we turned on and saw more signage suggesting that we press a button for drinks. Drinks from who?? At the end of the night we decided to just go back to the room. It looked recently renovated but it was cheaply done. The bed was way too soft, the furniture was black and gold like it was from a Z-Gallery magazine and the fridge sounded like a jet was going to take off. Getting ready for bed, we noticed that there was no mirror in the bathroom and the shower had either cold water or hot water with no in between. Freeze or burn your skin off, you decide. It was rough. Not to mention that the sliding door (pocket door) had no handle to open or close it. You had to grab under the door to move it. That's when the fun started. Around midnight, the guests in the room above us got in. It sounded like an African stampede. The ceiling and walls were so thin that you could tell who was who and what shoes they had on. Finally around 12:45am, they stopped circling the wagons and passed out from laps around their room, so we could be in peace. Well, that was until the guy on the other side of our wall was snoring so loud it felt like we were in the same room. We passed out eventually and around 5:50am, I woke up to the fridge again. I had to unplug it. We both were up now. We stared at the ceiling, for about 20 minutes and decided to get up for the day. What a mess. After checking out and leaving we blew a kiss to this place. What a joke. We have had such great experiences up and down the coast so far on our honeymoon but this place was something different. I'd complain to the manager of the place but that would require the place to have humans staffing the place. Do not stay here. Trust me. read more

Hot tub was out of service for the winter season, although when I booked my room, it said "hot tub access," which was a large part of the reason why I booked the hotel in the first place. I reached out to get reimbursed for this false advertisement, but I've been ignored so far. Extremely Misleading Website! We booked this place because of the hot tub on the river, the live jazz on Saturday nights, and the speakeasy. We arrived to find that the hot tub was closed for the entire season, there was no live jazz, and the speakeasy was closed for the season (??). The rooms are nice enough, but we would certainly not have spent $400+ to stay here if we'd known that the owner was not being truthful about access to amenities (I mean, I selected our room because it said "hot tub access"). read more

We held our wedding here July 2024. The setting was exactly what we wanted along the Russian River. The service, however was terrible. Some of our guests (who work in the restaurant industry) arrived early and saw that no one was setting up an hour before our wedding. They did the set up. We paid $100 an hour for a bartender ($300) that Boho Manor did not provide. They hired 2 outside women to serve the entire wedding. We paid $18 per person (35 guests) for a charcuterie board that I could've bought at Safeway. When the 1 platter was running out, I asked if they were bringing more-I was told there was no more. It'a a beautiful setting. Unfortunately the owners are not equipped (Don't care?) about providing what customers pay for. I do not recommend holding an event at this venue. read more

It has been a few years since we have been back and we miss the old restaurant. My wife and I had dinner here and for the prices I was expecting something much better. I had the same quality steak at Dennys for the price of French fries here (20) that were soggy and supposedly had truffle flavor that I could not taste. The outside tables were metal with no settings that warranted diner prices not 60 dollar plates. The server called it the summer menu filled with meat, limited options and no salads. The Caesar salad was so drenched the lettuce was soggy and the Ceviche was extremely smelly. The waiter was pleasant, which cannot be said for the front host who seemed annoyed that we took her away from talking when we asked for help, she later yelled at the server making us all uncomfortable. The friendly waiter could not make up for the bad host service, limited menu and over priced food. I would come for drinks because of the view but I suggest going 3 doors down to the Highland Dell for much better food at half the price. It gets one star for the view and the waiter. read more

We haven't even got there yet and can tell you no one works there during the week so you cannot get an answer to any questions. The 5 star ratings are for weekend bookings when the bars and restaurants are open and they have a receptionist. I have called 4 times, left 2 messages and sent an email to no avail. I cannot get any answers prior to our departure from the City,. Can you believe it we want to upgrade and can't do it. My husband wants to cancel but I don't, as I knew when I booked that the restaurant and bars weren't open but did not realize no front desk or phone assistance. They have an answering service that lies and says they are the front desk clerk but can't make the decision on the upgrade and someone will call you back and they do not.. Well where do I begin? We visited in late March. Everything was old wet and the smell of mildew was apparent immediately. The property is old and in need of an update or a rebuild. There was no one site at night no access to hot tub, deck, speakeasy etc. The room was small outdated and the bathroom was extremely small. As someone who spent a lot of time in Japan i have seen small but this won the award for smallest bathroom ever. Do yourself a favor and do not give these people your money!!!!!! read more

The Boho Manor makes for a nice weekend getaway. The surrounding area is quiet and peaceful, allowing you to enjoy the natural surroundings Monte Rio has to offer. Aside from the nearby beach, you can spend time in the 1920's-styled bar and restaurant with friends and family, making Boho Manor a great spot for anyone who enjoys the outdoors complemented with great food! read more

I wanted to like Boho Manor but it just fell short. Unfortunately I know they were effected by big storms that had just lifted so the whole property was kind of in shambles. We did come on a Monday in January so it's off season and a week day but when we arrived there was no one to be found. We went up to our room where the door was wide open and we realized it hasn't been cleaned yet. We eventually found someone and she said they moved our room. Apparently the maids weren't able to get there for whatever reason. We chose a room in the main house but she moved us to the detached building. I feel the room was smaller. The bathroom was tiny. It was cute tho and had a little view of the river. I wish she offered a discount due to the inconvenience. I do love that you have 24/7 access to coffee/drinks and snacks in the main house tho. The speakeasy was closed and the restaurant is closed during week days. I definitely would love to come back in summer with friends and hope I can give them 5 stars because it does seem to be a pretty amazing and unique little hotel when it's prime time. read more

We had a lovely time! the room was very comfortable with a great view of the river and grounds. The staff was very nice, and made us feel welcome and the food was delicious. Service was a little slow and we were told they plan to hire more Servers, etc. the place has an amazing art deco, Gatsby, old hollywood vibe. We will be back! Only complaint was the croquet mallets were broken. We improvised and enjoyed playing chess. read more

Just spent two nights at Boho Manor. We were delayed checking in because the room wasn't ready. Odd, because we were the only occupied room in the adjacent building. Luckily it was a lovely afternoon and we passed the time with our dogs by the river. The manager, Lauri, comped us a free drink when the bar opened. The room was tiny. Not even room to have a chair. It was clean and nicely decorated. We did enjoy the bar and the dining room. The service was excellent and staff was genuinely friendly. read more

I stayed here with my daughter a few months back for my birthday. I wanted to like the place but it fell short for me. There were no staff to greet us. No one to help settle in. Everything is "Computerized" and Self Service and unless you are so techy you don't like humans that was the first challenge to overcome. Once we found our room and went inside, we surprised about the depiction of the photos online vs reality. Bathroom fan was Noisy and bathroom needed a remodel to match the swanky décor vibe of the room. The building is old and falling apart, so you can dress it up so much but the cracks show up fast and furious. The setting and location is fantastic. Dinner at the resteraunt was less then perfect too. There was 1 waitress and maybe 5 tables. The waitress did not pay much attention to us and I had to ask several times for wine, utensils, water, etc... It felt like self service at some point since I ended up walking up to her and asking her again for whatever I needed. I have to say the food was good and good quality. They need a lot of help to establish a great place and I hope one day they will get there. read more

ABANDONED! On the recommendation of friends, we booked a 1-night stay here in mid-November. A welcome letter sent to us several days before our arrival indicated "plenty of amenities for [us] to enjoy," "Live Music in the Speakeasy and other sports activities such as Bicycle and Kayak and Paddle board Rentals (seasonal)," "a classic bar and restaurant available" (with a comment to see the website for hours). The website indicated a bar open Mon-Sat from 4-7pm. When we arrived around 3 pm, the place was deserted despite a sign on the front door that stated office hours were from 3-7pm. We entered our room (which was beautiful) using the code sent to us. We tried to find someone to answer some questions, and finally one of the workers found us and said the manager would be there at 4:00. We walked down to enjoy the riverfront only to find that all the chairs/cushions were put away, so there was nowhere to sit! We also noticed that all the boats and kayaks were put away for the season (we thought "seasonal" rentals meant not during winter). Then, we decided to go to the bar for a cocktail--and found it closed and dark. In fact, there was no one in the main building at all--it was all dark and there were no employees in the building. Later we noticed a hotel worker, and she told us there was a continental breakfast in the morning (we hoped that the baked goods served the next day wouldn't be the ones we saw sitting out that afternoon). The final straw was the next morning (at 8:30) when we tried to find where breakfast was being served. The front door to the main building was locked, and when we texted the number posted, we were told that she could unlock the door remotely and that someone would be there at 9 am to start making the coffee and provide the food. Due to our plans, we couldn't wait around that long. At that point, we realized that basically, we (and other guests) had been completely abandoned during most of our stay there. When we asked for some compensation for the lack of amenities, we received no reply. This could be an interesting place to stay in season (as our friends did) but, outside of summer months, expect to receive very little in the way of service and amenities. read more
