Do not do business with these people!! I went to use a gift certificate that apparently cant be used with specific people that actually work in their business but "arent affiliated with them".... even though the deposit of my gift certificate went through on their website and thats where I booked the appt. When I showed up for my appt they told me I cant use the gift certificate and turned around and took $5 off the total of my gift certificate and they called it a "processing fee" None of what they said made sense and this is obviously not the first time this situation has occured. What was supposed to be the cutest gift and relaxing time ended up being an unnecessary headache. Do not recommend!!!! read more

Had one of the best massages I've ever had while at Bodywork Unbound... but there are a couple little issues at the spa that could use some work. I wanted to treat my mother to a post-Christmas massage. I had made us both massages via the spa's online appointment system (vagaro.com) so I could ensure our massage types overlapped as much as possible. We had a bunch of plans for the day in Rochester, and so the timing of our appointments was designed to go with that flow. Upon arriving at the spa, we were greeted and welcomed into the space, and the woman at the front desk was very sweet. We filled out some quick paperwork, and then were advised that our massage therapists were running a tiny bit late. Unfortunately, a "tiny bit late" equated to 30 minutes late. The small waiting area space is calming enough (mmm... electric fireplace), but that was more of a delay than I was expecting. Once it was time for our massages though (I opted for the 60 minute Himalayan salt stone massage with Steven as my massage therapist, while I scheduled a separate 60 minute appointment for a regular hot stone massage with Christy for my mother), my cares pretty much melted away. Steven paid a great amount of attention to the more tense/problematic areas I had mentioned, and he used just the right amount of pressure. Steven even checked with me about the heat level of the Himalayan salt stones before starting the massage, noting that they can get hotter than regular stones used for regular hot stone massages. I really appreciated his attention to ensuring I was comfortable. Honestly? One of the best massages I've had in a very long time... and probably in my top 5 best massages. I would for sure recommend Steven to anyone trying to decide on a massage therapist. I can't really speak to Christy as a massage therapist, since I didn't personally have her... but my mother did mention that her massage was very relaxing and she and Christy chatted a bit throughout the massage about fun little topics. She enjoyed her massage experience with Christy. The other slight difficulty with Bodywork Unbound though came when the receptionist/front desk woman was trying to process my card for payment. She had some difficulty maneuvering her way through the online system in order to get the payment completed. Her having to fidget with the system even after payment seemed to be completed also meant I got a bunch of emails from their portion of the vagaro.com appointment system - emails about appointment times for other people throughout the day, or adjustments to appointments (none of which were appointments for myself or my mother). I'm kinda paranoid about there being other charges to my card, but I haven't seen any yet... still, I'm going to keep an eye out. TL;DR A couple minor inconveniences kept this from being a 5/5 experience, but my massage itself was faaaaaaantastic. I'd recommend this location, especially given that the prices are very reasonable. read more

Updating my review, kind of...still an emphatic five stars! I booked my second appointment with Mandi at Bodywork Unbound, this time for a 90 minute ashiatsu massage. This was my first time getting ashiatsu (barefoot massage) and it was the best massage I've ever had. I cannot recommend ashi enough, especially if you like deep pressure massage. Don't let the barefoot part weird you out -- most of the time, the therapist uses the heel or ball of the foot, so it doesn't feel too different than the palm of the hand in a traditional massage. Mandi was great with communicating the amount of pressure and making sure I was comfortable during the entire massage. I left feeling like all of the soreness and tightness in my muscles had gone away (well, because they had!). So, so worth it. read more

I've been having severe pain in my back and shoulder. So this place is my go to, I would normally come and book with Karen but she isn't available. I booked an appointment with Steven. I wasn't sure what to think about him I've always had a women do my massages. But I was in desperate mood. For a Saturday morning at 10am appointment this place was packed!! They had us sit in the waiting area, it has a calm and beautiful vibe. I made an appointment for a therapeutic massage. I discussed with Steven my concerns and what part of my body that needs more attention. He was definitely the best by far. I've been to many spas especially around the area (gates). He is amazing I left feeling like a brand new person. He might become my favorite guy. I will definitely come back and see him again. read more

I came here with severe neck and shoulder pain that has been making it difficult for me to sleep. One of my favorite local spas has been booked out for weeks, so I decided to try a different place. Coming here was a very serendipitous find. A lot of people are timid when it comes to seeing a male masseuse, but I was desperate for some muscle therapy and booked a 90 minute session with Stephen. I am not exaggerating when I say that I think this is the best massage I ever had. Have you ever gone somewhere with an issue, and you feel like your problem area gets only a few extra minutes of love, when it is the main reason you went there? Have you ever had a massage and they are like, "how is the pressure?" and it feels like they are just patting you on the back when you just want them to dig their elbow in you? Stephen worked on my troublesome area, listened to me, and spent a bulk of the time on my problem area with adequate pressure. He may have me jump ship and start coming here from now on. I felt very comfortable, and extremely satisfied seeing him as a healer. Also, the environment is very spa like, with several rooms, and separate lounge area with a fire place, and a clean restroom. I will be curious to return for some of their awesome packages they offer. read more

Bodywork Unbound allows you to ha e relationships with many staff for the spectrum of service, and the accurate online scheduling allows to fit things in your schedule. I never feel like I'm "cheating" when I have multiple services offered throughout the spa. read more

Place is not a kid friendly place,kids are not able to talk or make a moderate amount of noise since other patients are enjoying a half ass service with a rushed experience this place is more volume than quality. read more

I've been going to Karen for at least two years now and I can't say enough good things about her and Bodywork Unbound. Everyone is pleasant and professional, very easy to work with and they listen to their customers. I've had facials and massages, and have never had one complaint. This was my first time having a massage and was curious and anxious about having this new experience. I bought "Three 60-Minute Hot-Stone or Deep-Tissue Massages with Aromatherapy and Mineral Foot Scrub" from AmazonLocal and based on the other reviews on line, I was cautious. However, my experience there was amazing; the physical location was a little out of the way for me but still convenient and the establishment looked and smelled cleaned. The masseuse that I worked with was "Sam" and he was very professional, attentive, engaging and friendly. He was aware that this was my first time as a result, I did not feel awkward or uncomfortable with him. Initially, he introduced himself to me and we sat to discuss what I was looking for and the areas that I wanted him to focus on; I enjoyed the quietness during the massage. Overall, I enjoyed this experience, the only minor inconvenience was that they had a new staff member working at the front desk and she struggled to quickly process me out at the end of my visit. I do not hold her accountable since any person who has started a new job--and this was her first day--would take a little longer. Clean, safe, welcoming and the most amazing massage therapist- Rachel. I don't have an image to share but can tell you that my posture showed back and knee pain from going nonstop and not taking care of myself. I left walking tall. I had to readjust my rear view mirror up, because I was somehow taller. I've had back surgeries and know that staying on top of pain is essential. This hit the reset button for me. I'm a Licensed Massage Therapist with my own practice, so I have NOTHING to gain by writing a positive review of Bodywork Unbound. Having said that, I've just booked my 5th appointment at this wonderful Spa! It's always clean and professional. The rooms are tidy, warm and comfortable and the staff have always been courteous to me. I've seen therapist Jared several times and have always had relief from my trigger point headaches after my sessions. I've even had one of MY clients tell me that I was one of the best massages she's ever had, and "if I ever wanted to leave this place" (not realizing I run my own show haha) that I should seek employment at BWU because I'd fit right in. She loves the it there too! So while everyone has their own opinion, I wouldn't write off Bodywork Unbound because of a few negative people. They offer a wide range of services at very reasonable prices and as I've said, I frequent this spa myself. read more

I am a local cyclist that needed a massage ASAP and close to my house. Bodywork got me in same day, I saw Stephanie for an hour therapeutic massage. She worked the sore spots that I knew about and they are better, a foam roller just doesn't compare! But, she also worked the front/sides of my neck and chest (I didn't know was tight)...I didn't know my head could turn that far! It was an enjoyable session, she is very friendly and makes you comfortable. I feel confident in her skills and am returning for a 90 minute session. As for the facility, it is convenient with a large parking lot (no bike racks) and very clean inside. It has a spa feel to it...soothing. This places deserves 0 stars. The owner Karen has no people skills at all. I was going there for massage therapy as a result of a car accident. Karen was supposed to send information to my insurance company for me to be reimbursed and that was not done. Further, the fraudulently charged my credit card for services I did not receive. I will never again allow a business to keep my credit card number on file. A spa is supposed to create an experience but in the frigid temperature of winter they should have beverages for clients besides cold water. However, the massage therapist Rebekah is AMAZING!! She is professional and her deep tissue massages are life changing. Unfortunately because the owner is so unprofessional and the receptionists are less than competent I won't be returning. I hope Rebekah will find another spa to work at because her talent is being wasted in that mediocre spa. read more

To be clear--I did not have a massage from here so I cannot review that aspect. What I am reviewing is their company policy specifically how it relates to groupon and scheduling appointments. I purchased a groupon for a massage last week and when I phoned to redeem it, I was told they required my credit card number to reserve the slot. I scheduled and gave them my card # as requested. Hotels, car rental co do this so it makes sense. However, the secretary demanded the 3 digit security code on back stating their policy states that they are authorized to bill a customer if they do not provide 24 hr cancellation notice. She refused to reserve the appt without the security code. My issue with this practice is that by purchasing a groupon, I pre-paid for this service and they've already received their money prior to the appt. If I chose not to keep the appt, I've technically forfeited the use of the groupon that was already purchased and that's on me. Why should I be double billed in that situation? I contacted my credit card co to be sure I was correct in refusing and they told me never to give out the security code because it could easily lead to fraud--especially if it's with a company I've never used. The salon staff told me I could go to the store prior to the appt and pay them the cost of the massage in advance but why should I have to give them additional money--even if it would be returned once I arrived for the scheduled appt? The purpose of groupon is to attract new customers to a business or service. More importantly, it is also an opportunity for prospective customers to find new providers. Everyday there is another story of compromised security, identity theft and fraudulent credit card activity. Why would I trust a company I've never used with my personal information especially since the service was already purchased? It sounds suspicious to me. I contacted groupon and cancelled the order as well as filed a complaint through groupon. read more

Relaxing relaxing relaxing. I went here Saturday, May 31 for the hot stone and hand/foot scrub 90 minute treatment. It wasn't busy with other folks talking. The therapist was very attentive and she was amazing! I fell asleep because it was so calming and relaxing on that heated table. They offer quality service. I will return to try the deep tissue. Karen is the person certified to do this peticular massage, after searching the city wide and far she is the best. So especially you ladies coming from Miami and the DR check her out. I was informed when I checked in that my massage therapist was running behind due to a previous client having a medical emergency, which I totally understood. I was offered coffee and water and a very comfortable place to wait. My massage therapist was very nice and apologetic for running behind schedule. The massage/cupping was great, and everyone was very accommodating while scheduling my next appointment. Overall a good experience, and obviously will be returning. read more

I have been going for massage therapy here for months and have had a great experience. I find the team thoughtful and caring and have had very positive results. Unfortunately I think that competitors sometimes use these sights to put businesses down when nothing could be further from the truth.
