Very few crowds if you arrive right at opening time. I was happy to see there were no lines at all for the slides. They open a half hour early for season pass members; general admission is 11am. Definitely worth checking out for a day of family fun in the hot TX summer!

So I wanted to make sure we made a stop here while we were in Austin as it seemed essential for having a good city experience here. Barton Springs is open every day but Thursdays so plan accordingly for that. I am told it's a day where they clean the pool. It took a little bit of navigating to get to the pool as we had to plan to come here on a hot day as opposed to a rainy day which we were encountering here on our trip but it worked out fine. We landed on a warm day and got pool time. And Barton Springs is perfect to come to on a hot day. The temperature is between 68-70 degrees which makes it great swimming all year round here. The bottom of the pool has plant life and it's not all concrete and polished at the bottom so be aware of that... it's definitely has a natural look. There are also signs not to touch the rocks at the bottom as it is the home to some rare amphibians I believe. But aside from that as long as you follow the signs you're good. The water is extremely refreshing and invigorating and even after leaving the pool and you are on your way you still feel for a while thise sensations which added more to the impressive experience we had here. Parking fees and entrance fees to the pool are reasonable. It's $5 if you are a resident and $9 if you aren't. I highly, highly recommend making a stop at Barton Springs if you are in Austin... it definitely helps complete the city experience here.

It's a pretty big park, offering several different landscapes and activities. Great for families and outings with friends. The city views were beautiful. The forest and springs had that cooling effect that made the hot sun bearable. The springs were cold but very refreshing once fully submerged. A little too cold for my water loving 2 yr old. He also didn't like the green algae but still enjoyed the experience. Warning: VERY SLIPPERY in the springs and uneven rocky trails in some areas. Have water shoes if you don't like to be barefoot. The bottom of the springs swimming section feels smooth; slippery with some uneven dips. We stayed on the approved 4ft or less side for my kid's life vest. Bring a float or rent a canoe to enjoy the deeper waters. Pro:There are several ADA ramps we could have used for the stroller. As 1st time visitors we took some risky chances trekking down rocky slopes and too many stairs that wasn't necessary. Find the ramps. Con: Multiple entrances and parking. We were almost defeated by the parking situation on a Saturday early afternoon (1pm). We drove around over an hour looking for a spot in the many parking lots closer to the swimming pool section. With so many entries and people barely leaving it was a constant flow of new cars swooping in forcing us into lot loops. So close to turning back, we kept following the water trail and figure there had to be another way to the water! Bingo we parked on the other side of swimming section and took the 12 min walk directly through the fields to the pool area. If you're like us you'll drive around the parking lots so much you'll learn the landscapes. Must pay for parking. We got a ticket after following the advice that there are no parking fees on the weekend. Don't listen just pay the hourly rate parking fees. Swimming Pool Fee: There is a minimum fee associated with entering the springs. Fees are tiered by age and residence. As non-residents we only paid $13 ($9 adult/$4 young kid). Veterans are free, no ticket, must show VA ID. Reasonable fees for the amenities, especially the life guards and bathrooms. Downloading the app is easier and faster than standing in line at the credit card kiosks. The teller windows are a little faster but, cash only, We were pleasantly excited to also take advantage of the playground and train ride. Super cute. 2 year old loved both. Highly recommended for visitors who like to explore, be in nature and community, and stay cool.

We are fairly new members at BodyWise Gym, and so far, we've been really impressed! One of the things we love is the variety and availability of equipment--plenty of machines, often multiples for the same muscle groups, which means little to no waiting time. For those who prefer free weights and old-school training, there are multiple benches available, allowing great flexibility to mix free weights, machines, or both. The cardio area upstairs offers a wide selection of equipment to suit any preference, and there's a separate aerobics and individual training room that can comfortably accommodate a dozen or more people. BodyWise also offers personal training and small group sessions, but they're structured in a way that doesn't interfere with your workout. Trainers provide guidance to those they are working with, but they do not dictate or disrupt the routines of other gym members. Another standout feature is how clean and well-maintained the gym is. While some of the equipment is older, it is kept in excellent working condition. The restrooms and floors are always clean, adding to the welcoming environment. And one of our favorite things? On cooler mornings, they open the two large garage doors, creating an awesome, open-air workout atmosphere. Kay and Don do a fantastic job of making sure everyone feels welcome, and we truly appreciate their efforts. read more

Body Wise Gym is the perfect place to get a good hard work out. This is the best managed gym I have ever been in. The work out areas and restrooms are always spotless. Owners are on site, very friendly and are always available, fostering a warm, friendly, welcoming vibe that creates a very comfortable atmosphere. The staff is knowledgeable, very friendly and always approachable. Members have access to the gym 24/7, which allows me to set my workout times based upon my requirements and not someone else's schedule. The equipment selection is well thought out, nicely maintained and members never have to wait to get on a machine. The abundance of free weights is impressive. Has anyone ever noticed that its always the unhappy people that take the time to complain? I have been a member of Bodywise for a little over a year. I attend the Monday, Wednesdays, Friday classes. Everyone from day one has made me feel comfortable. They greet me by name and better yet with a genuine smile. But the best part of my attendance there, I am wearing clothes I have not been able to wear in a long time. And I'm closer to 60 years old than 50. So we all know how hard it is to change your body after our 40's. So I sing the praises of Kay and Don and Bodywise gym. read more

Do not join this gym. While you could tolerate the run down equipment, they will knowingly overbill you. I canceled my membership in January, PAID an early Termination fee and they STILL billed me for Feb, Mar, and April. I turned them in to Wells Fargo Fraud and filed a Better Business Bureau compliant. The really sleazy part is my bank informed me they "manually" do the billing each month so they know what they are doing. They are either extremely unethical/border-line illegal or simply grossly incompetent in how they run their business. read more

I have been going to this gym for the past six months, and I feel like this is my family. I have gotten to know the staff and the members well. Everyone greets me with a smile and by name! Where do you get this kind of greeting from a gym? The members there make me want to go work out. If I have questions, Don and Kay are happy to show me how to use equipment or what work out will help me target areas I am wanting to tone. Might not be the biggest, flashiest gym around, but it is a good gym, it is a welcoming gym, and it is my gym! read more

Love the vibe at this gym. The owners have a good thing going. The regulars are nice and staff are always ready to answer questions. I time my visits so that I'm not competing for machines. Some people have complained about that, but I'm sure any gym will have that problem during Rush Hour. Especially if they have a loyal member group. Try it out and post your experience. read more

When I could no longer tolerate the big box gyms, the crowds that flock to them and the bad behaviors that have cropped up over time, I finally made the move to this gym. Sure it's smaller, sure it doesn't have daycare, saunas, pools, giant changing rooms but I consider all those things a plus. People who show up here show up to work out not sit at the sauna and pool all day. The price point is higher than most gyms but not unreasonable. You get what you pay for -- mostly in peace and quiet and an overall more courteous gentler crowd. There is a good mix of equipment that can handle a mix of folks who just want fitness, folks who are into bodybuilding and powerlifters. For the most part all three groups exist in peace. Perhaps the general fitness folks may at times be a little intimidated by some of the louder harder workouts of the powerlifters. But this can be mitigated by changing the time you go. I get overstimulated by such noises so I try to avoid those folks if I can. ( I can be a gentle flower lol) Gender balance. This gym has a very healthy gender balance. Luckily this crowd is not there to find suitors, they are there to work out so no fake eyelashes or clown makeup nor guys just dragging their wings along the ground like turkeys in heat. Please respect this dynamic and don't come here to hit on people. Like most gyms the peak time is 5-7 week days except it's mostly Monday to Wednesday that's somewhat busy during rush hour. But nothing like the big box gyms. It's busy but not impossible to get a workout in like other gyms. Folks are not aggressive with each other, they are kind when they approach you for working in etc. I take a long time at some machines people should be upset but there is no upset, only kindness. They are swapping out some of the equipment and its changes for the better -- mind you what's there is already plenty. This is a small gym floor compared to mix chain gyms. The gym in Lincoln village is slightly larger and the new one in round rock will be huge. The hours are great. Parking is plenty however not endless, sometimes you will have to hunt a little. The gym is clean, bathrooms is clean but could be better. I am just being honest. It's just fine. I have been spoiled by Lifetime and EOS. There is a regular crowd that's been there a long time and they sometimes do exert a little bit of ownership and territorial behavior but they are mostly harmless, they could use the challenge of new faces, and they are perfectly able to adapt and accept newcomers. So don't be intimidated. It's all teddy bears in there. The staff also is amazingly friendly and attentive and keep the place sharp and on top shape and help members. I highly recommend you get a week pass and check it out!

I've made 50 or so friends and acquaintances with all the members.. the demographic is all ages here, at all fitness levels. The main reason I adore this gym, is the quality of equipment, and availability of said equipment. As someone who's 30 years old and has been lifting weights since they were 15.. I know my way around a gym. This gym has EVERYTHING you could ever need to build your dream body, and they're not endorsing me to say these words.
