They also have a boutique selling nice workout clothing, grip socks and fancy water bottles. I did the hour long barre class yesterday and it was an excellent workout. Hollie instructed the fast paced class with grace and before I knew it the hour was over. They also offer other classes like Mod Burn which incorporates high intensity training and Barre 50 (shorter class). There are new client specials and I purchased an Austin Tidbits deal of 3 weeks for $49. If you like barre you will love Mod Fitness.

My new favorite place for Barre classes in north-central ATX. The studio is clean, simple, small. It's a house turned fitness studio, with about 6 parking spots in back, and street parking in front. I've never had a problem finding parking, morning or evening. There is a small area for your belongings, a front desk (with a friendly face posted up), 2 clean restrooms, and the work out room. The walls are lined with mirrors and barres, of course. During the barre classes (my favorite), you will need a mat, ball, small hand weights, and a strap (all provided). You literally work every part of your body. Upper, lower, middle, front, back... you get the idea. Every time I attend, I find myself surprised at the exercises that are new to me. I'm a DVD and workout class junkie, and to learn new exercises excites me! You will work your lower half to the point of shakes and earthquakes around the barre, all by being pushed in an encouraging way. All the instructors are just awesome. I appreciate the countdown (just 8 more seconds... etc), which usually leads to an isometric hold... which leads to 8 pulses, then relax (8 more is a white lie). I leave MOD feeling like a goddess. Get your booty to the barre and get ready to work! I love MOD!

I was able to secure a $30 per month membership since I signed a contract for 12 months, and that grants me access to any location that is the same or lower tier. I have been to cycling classes with Megan Smith and yoga classes with Kayur Patel. Both instructors are so friendly, knowledgeable and encouraging. All the staff members that work out at the front desk are so friendly, the always greet me and say goodbye. I was surprised to see so many lifting platforms and different machines I have never seen before. The only complaints that I have is that since this is an older gym, many of equipment is dinged up, but still operable. Also, instead of a posing room, I wished they used the space for a more functional amenity, like a hydromassage bed or a red-light therapy bed. If you are looking for an affordable gym where you can get a great cardio and/or strength training work out, this establishment is a great option since they have a vast variety of machines and equipment.

What really sets Pure Pilates apart, though, is the community. It's supportive, inclusive, and genuinely kind -- something that's rare to find. I've brought many friends here over time, and every single one of them has left absolutely loving the experience. That consistency, warmth, and quality keep people coming back. Add the tum tum, and you would think this is the last place I would end up. The different orthopedic doctors and Physical Therapists all basically said go to something like this and see what makes you hurt :-( . I called and talked to the business and it turns out that they have many different types of classes, including rehab and recovery. They would make adjustments for me if needed. The business was spotless and organized to a T. Then came the class. The instructor, Jennifer, was quite charming as was the staff. The attendees were all ages, shapes, sizes, and I was not the only man there. Jennifer said she could adjust the instruction if needed due to all my damage and I said no way, go full blast and if I had problems I would adjust myself. So, full of confidence, I started immediately with the class which was a "grace", or something like that, for newbies. Jennifer was enthusiastic, and kept the tempo going. I had some problems at first following the instructions as I was new to this, but with the mirrors and her assistants, I started getting the idea. Yeah! I heard "shake it off and rest" but I could never see where "rest" was in the picture. I realized that if I totally stopped I would never be able to start up again, so I did the best I could. Then I learned to hate the words "bar and barre". When you are told to grab or lean on the bar, you are really going to get it. All in all, it was wonderful. Jennifer or one of her assistants would come and help with advice, and there was only 2 moves I could not do. When we were finally finished, my muscles were shaking so bad from lack of use in the past few years, I asked my wife to drive home, much to her glee. Fast forward 1 day and I am worn out and sore, but in a good way. I am definitely more flexible, I don't have pain where I used to have pain, so this event probably saved me a lot of money to doctors and therapists as I know now where to target and to what extent I can handle and still live.

The instructor greeted me by name and asked if I had any injuries or needed any modifications, then walked me over to the equipment and explained that I needed two sets of free weights to add to the other set up equipment (a mat, a lower back mat, ball and resistance band). It was all women in the class, and I can't be sure but i get the feeling it's like 90%+ female most of the time. There's also a spin studio in the space. For barre devotees, I think it's a solid choice and very conveniently located. Also there's ample parking out front and in the parking garage just underneath. All in all, it was a good midday workout.

I was TERRIFIED to go to my first class, as I was not a gym-goer and my running punchline was that I "didn't know what the inside of a gym looked like." Getting started in the fitness community is overwhelming and so many gyms are pretentious and require you to know a lot about fitness before you go! Luckily for me as a first-timer to a workout class, that is not at all how fitcidence is. I was greeted kindly, everything was explained to me, the attendees and instructors were equally kind and modifications were offered. Cut to two years later and now I workout 4-5x per week and am a founding member of the new space at Fitcidence! I have made some of my best friends in Austin here and will always continue to go to their classes. I am so much more confident (in the gym and in general) and feel so much healthier. I really need to do cardio because I have high cholesterol and cardio is one of the best things for it and fitcidence is the only place I've been where cardio is FUN! If you're hesitating, just do it. You'll be happy you did!
