Arrrrrrrgggg uhhhhhhhh, oooooooohhhhh! Yeah baby Getting those kinks out with Kaiut yoga! Been doing this for a year and a half now and I feel like a new man after every session with Chris S. He has a soothing voice, expert instruction boundless patience. I have to tell you last time I did this and then played golf, I was 9 over par with a double bogey (cause my cart partner lost my ball and I had to take two strokes). Aka I was so loose fluid and smooth, I looked liked Freddie Couples out there! The dojo is getting popular and the classes initially 17-20 now 25-30 folks, mostly our vintage, stretching those limbs, using the core, working on the breathing. A full one hour session that each time works on different parts of your body. Chris and wife team Ellen say "wow, we noticed your curve in the spine is so much better in your sucassena." Using bolsters, ropes and gravity, we work it to our limits. Folks are getting there earlier as parking in PT Richmond gets hairy that time of morning. I feel like a million bucks after each session!! read more

Nancy's classes have re-aligned, corrected, strengthened, and re-generated my body at a cellular, muscular, and structural level. My spinal column has straightened and that is treating other dysfunctions that have been painful and impeding movement and strength. My chiropractor noticed significant changes in my body after a few months with Nancy. Her understanding of anatomy, movement, and well-being are superb. She is a phenomenal teacher and very generous with sharing her knowledge and wisdom. I highly recommend Nancy Burns at Body Wisdom. read more

She takes care to adapt classes to the needs of her students and even schedules time to answer individual questions and concerns. Though Nancy is a creative facilitator herself, she offers a variety of instructors to give us an experience of different styles and emphases. All in all, Body Wisdom Studio is a great place to MOVE with safety and confidence. read more

Not only do I feel FANTASTIC after every class I take at Body Wisdom, but I come away with more physical wisdom on how to carry myself in life to eventually avoid returning back to the aches and pains. The classes offered at Body Wisdom will help you undo all the bad postural habits you've developed from living for 30, 40, 50, 60, or more years in your body. This studio is a gem.  The residents of Point Richmond (and nearby) are incredibly lucky to have such an amazing resource.  Every town needs a Body Wisdom studio.    I am so grateful that during this pandemic, I am able to attend virtual classes with Nancy almost every day! Do not delay.  Try one of their classes ASAP! read more

This is a small exercise studio with a really good small town feeling in Point Richmond. They recently expanded to do online workout classes and it is fantastic! I can't recommend it enough. Nancy the owner is extremely knowledgeable as are the other instructors, and the classes are geared towards the 50+ crowd. I don't like to admit I'm in it but I definitely am and appreciate Nancy's specific knowledge about getting older and how to be a strong as possible while we get there. Check it out! I am excited to be able to get back in person later in the year but in the meantime the online classes are doing just what they need to, keeping me on the path to get stronger and fitter. read more

In today's free video class Save Your Knees during Shelter in Place, Nancy showed us many understandable Knee anatomy principles so helpful to stopping and avoiding injury!  The demonstrations and stretches were easy yet more thorough than past instruction I've had from therapists who focused on the affected area rather than causes of recurring issues. I am a retired OT who highly regards movement teachers with the knowledge set that makes me trust I will not get hurt in class.  Through Nancy's generosity in offering free video classes (for 3 entire weeks!) when people were isolated at home, I have gotten to see her work. I have referred friends with issues who also said she is a very skilled teacher. Bravo, hats off!  I will be coming to more classes! read more

Body Wisdom is a fantastic studio ... worth the drive from anywhere in the Bay Area! I love Nancy's style ... very nonjudgmental and helpful in aiding your pursuit of health. The variety of classes is great in keeping boredom at bay and your muscles from becoming stagnant. I am really enjoying getting my body into proper alignment and preventing the twinges I'm seeing in my 40s from becoming full blown issues when I'm older. This is a great place for people of all ages. I have seen a few people in their 20s and 30s, but most people are in their 50s, 60s, and 70s. The workouts are HARD though, so don't look at a little grey hair next to you and think that you can slack off. I sweated more in the TRX class and Outdoor Fitness classes than I ever did at the Bar Method! read more

Suffering from a painful hip issue and trying different forms of treatments, I finally found relief at BWS. It took about 8 months of faithfully using the many tools available for whole body workouts without pain. Best tip taken away from the instructors: Wear minimal shoes!!! read more

I started attending classes sporadically at Body Wisdom 9 months ago, have progressed to a consistent 3 classes a week and am next buying an unlimited class pass because of the total shift in perspective and results. Nancy and team will teach you a different way of holding your body and moving. I feel strong, and PAIN FREE! Have had a variety of aches and pains for several years and they are all subsiding. Also recently had a super helpful 1:1 session with Marsha. This is not a traditional gym, with typical gym classes. It took a little while to get used to a new way to get stronger, learn how to be pain-free and hopefully injury free. Highly recommend! read more

I am so grateful to have found this studio. For the past 3 days I have taken Nancy's Zoom classes and they have been fabulous. Having to shelter in place it's important to exercise not only for the body but for the mind. I have felt so positive starting my day out with Body Wisdom Studio. I highly recommend it! read more

Nancy Burns at Body Wisdom has done miracles with my sports injuries (hip, knee and shoulder) that a physical therapist could not even help. Before finding her studio I had done so many hard core classes over the years that had pushed me to pain and injury. Nancy's restorative classes have been more about letting go and treating my body with care, while still achieving amazing results. Exercise does not have to be torture. These classes have worked for my body both inside and out. After 3 months of taking her classes diligently I have also noticed that my acid reflux is gone. I am now in my early 50's and I finally feel I've found a program I can use to keep me healthy for the rest of my life. read more

I suffered a bad back injury in a boating accident. So, I needed to find an exercise studio that has classes for core and restorative work that knew how painful it might be for me. I found Nancy Burn's Body Wisdom studio and was instantly hooked! I love her style of teaching --gentle and non-competitive. She's fantastic. I take the Yoga with Slow Weights class and it's amazing how good I feel. I now have a much stronger core and Nancy is super thoughtful and caring with any of us who are dealing with an injury. I highly recommend Body Wisdom. I also love her restorative classes. I highly recommend this studio for people who may have had an injury and/or just want a teacher that offers personalized attention to her students. read more

Nancy is an incredible resource for anyone interested in learning how the body works, and how to make it feel better. As a fitness professional myself, she helps me to deepen my own understanding to better help my own clients. At the same time, she teaches in a way that is understandable for anyone interested in the information- how to live more comfortably in your body. Highly recommend her intro to posture free hour lecture to learn more. read more

I started going to Nancy's online classes about 6 months ago. I was looking for a way to deal with some body pain issues that were moving from being occasional to being chronic. I knew that my freedom of movement could become severely curtailed if I didn't find a way to reverse the slide. Nancy's classes have been the cure I needed. My movement has become much more fluid and I'm much more mindful about how I move and stand in an effort to prevent injury. My pain levels have also been significantly lowered. Nancy is well aware of my issues and the issues of others in her classes and will make a point of suggesting an alternative approach to an exercise when she thinks I will need it. Her knowledge of human anatomy and restorative exercise is daunting. I'm really thankful that I found Nancy's classes and that I'm in a position to attend everyday. I consider the monthly unlimited pass to be one of the greatest deals in fitness. read more

My wife and I started taking classes here this summer. This is not just another work-out/yoga studio. I have gone to gyms and done various kinds of yoga and stretching all my life, but still found I was developing tightness and soreness that I could not get to release. I was amazed at how quickly things started to shift after learning and using the techniques taught by Nancy Burns and her team. They take body awareness to another level. They teach you simple toning, stretching and alignment techniques that address all those muscles and tendons that regular exercise and stretching never reach; the ones that secretly tighten up more and more with sitting at computers and in cars. The best part is that you don't have to go to classes everyday to benefit; you can easily fit a few key exercises into your workday. They become a part of how you use your body. As a health care professional (acupuncturist-homeopath), I am now referring my clients to Body Wisdom Studio. read more

I've been working out with Nancy Burns for seven or eight years. During this time, I lost and have successfully kept off, forty pounds. I am now in my early sixties, nearing retirement, feeling fit and confident, physically--thanks, in large part, to Nancy. For several years, she was my personal trainer in our clubhouse gym. Then I joined her group outdoor workouts on Mt Tam. When Nancy opened Body Wisdom studio a few years ago, we started doing "restorative" exercises inside during the winter--a combination strength, balance and flexiblilty. Nancy is well trained herself, attentive to all her clients' particular needs, and, quite simply, a good person to work with. read more

Nancy's 5 day BOSU Bootcamp changed my life! Now I am hooked! I adore her teaching style and learn something new in every class. Her Nutritious Movement classes reshape body, mind, and soul. The studio is beautiful and the people who attend the classes are lovely folks. It is an atmosphere of total health, wholesomeness and well being. I always feel great when I am there and look forward to attending every class. Nancy is great to work with as a personal trainer, too. She helps you develop a program that is perfectly customized to your needs and encourages you to be the best you can. read more

Nancy Burns is just wonderful, fun and knowledgeable. I love her TRX classes.

Body Wisdom is terrific. I've taken yoga and Pilates and worked out at the gym for many years -- but I'm in my seventies, have 2 artificial hips, have had back surgery and was definitely beginning to feel my age, stiff and achy. Nancy immediately identified several key ways to improve how I stand, walk, and generally use my body. Each class has a different focus, and she takes time to make sure everyone is moving correctly and taking the appropriate action for their own situation. I wake up every day feeling great -- and I keep learning more things I can do to keep feeling and moving better. read more

Great intelligent classes to help get and stay fit at any age. I feel so lucky they are in my neighborhood. Nancy is a great teacher and a living example of how one can keep and even increase their vitality and physical well being with the proper tools. read more

A great studio for yoga, fitness, body alignment, etc. Nancy is knowledgeable and fun!

This place is truly a revelation, an excellent resource for anyone who would like to function as well as they can for as long as they can. I feel so fortunate that founder Nancy Burns opened her studio in the village where I live. After just a few weeks of TRX training, restorative exercise and yoga for alignment classes at Body Wisdom, I feel like I've inherited a new and improved body! Just as important, I've gained useful anatomical knowledge, plus a lovely community and support system of fellow students. read more

I started taking Nancy's restorative exercise class because after years of running my feet were beginning to pain me. A visit to the podiatrist had left me pondering the idea of surgery and dreading the prospect of a month "off my feet." Since I've been taking classes at Body Wisdom, I've experienced benefits not only in my feet, but overall. I am learning methods of stretching and strengthening to overcome my "bad alignment" habits acquired over the years. The exercises are very effective and release muscle tension that I sometimes don't even realize is there. Nancy Burns and her staff are well-trained, excellent teachers. There are a variety of classes offered and it is a low-key, friendly environment. Parking is easy and the classes are affordable. I highly recommend Body Wisdom and think there is something there for everyone interested in developing a healthy and active body. read more

I have had the privilege - and I mean privilege! - to work out at Body Wisdom Studio for several years, and to also take Nancy Burns' outdoor fitness workouts, both in the hills above Point Richmond, and on Saturday mornings on the numerous trails in Marin County (Mount Tamalpais, Marin Watershed, Golden Gate National Recreational Park.) Nancy has a way of not repeating herself so workouts never get boring because of the variety and quality of her teachings. I consider myself very lucky, and that I'm basically paying for "Quality of Life Insurance" by the workouts I do. read more

Just spent the weekend in Nancy Burns "Move Your DNA" class at Body Wisdom and all I can say is "Wow" Nancy understands the human body like no one else I've ever known and is very well versed in how to make your muscles and bones (body) happy and healthy through Restorative Exercise. The studio space is beautiful and comfortable and if there's an accessory that can help you in your pursuit of fitness she has it! I can't recommend Nancy's practice highly enough and will be back as often as I am able. read more
