In looking for a local yoga studio that has a variety of levels for classes, that are IN PERSON vs virtual, I found Gaia. I have only taken a few classes from them so far, but I like the bright and cheery lobby and the clean and spacious studio spaces (one up friendly stairs that are not too steep). I have enjoyed the Restorative Yoga and the Gentle Yoga classes, and leave feeling like I have had a massage! The teachers I have met have been very welcoming and kind, and passionate about supporting their students' yoga journey. If you are looking for a place to start your yoga practice or nurture your cranky body or even expand your skills - this is the place! Namaste! read more

I love this yoga studio. I have been attending classes on and off over the last 4 years. I recently started going back and they moved around the corner to an even better space! The maternity class with Martina is incredible. And all the classes I have ever taken here are wonderful. They even provide yoga mats for those of us whose family have taken them or who don't have them anymore! read more

Gaia has amazing instructors and a beautiful space. Everyone is approachable and supportive, and it's been a perfect environment for me to start incorporating in-person classes to my at-home solo practice. The scheduling app is also very convenient, and they have a lot of good package options. I HIGHLY recommend! read more

I've been coming in once a week since they had a promo not too long ago since their remodel. Love how this is located in the Richmond Marina so a super short commute from my neighborhood. Instructors have been pretty great and helpful. They've created a really calming and restorative space to help with your practice. I'd definitely recommend trying out! read more

Great space. Excellent ownership and instruction. Convenient with plenty of parking. A great, meditative experience.

I'm returning to yoga post-pandemic and wanted a class that would ease me back into a forward fold after three+ years. This restorative yoga class has reminded me why I started yoga in the first place: to increase my flexibility, balance, and strength while also giving my brain a break from a too-busy life. I'm still working on establishing a regular practice again, but this has been an excellent re-entry. read more

I've taken classes with a few teachers and they have all been great. The room is airy and the vibes are good.

I just started going to Gaia and I absolutely love it. The instructors are amazing. I've seen 3 different instructors and each one was great. The studio is clean and open. I feel blessed that I discovered this little hidden gem. read more

Great teachers, good variety of classes and times, and enlarged studio is nice and spacious.

The environment was very comfortable. For my first time as in person, I was able to follow along with clear directions for each pose.

Great classes - with many different types and times. Classes are taught by skilled, friendly teachers who can accommodate different levels of students. The space has been enlarged and is light and airy. I look forward to going to class, and have learned how much it benefits me! ‍‍ read more

Shady business practices. They will cancel you from a class, and not refund the money or allow you to just book another session. Not only that, but then threaten that they could've charged you for being a "no show" to the class that they cancelled!! Never dealt with someone like this before, strange attitude from any business, doubly strange from a place that should be providing peace. (Note: had good classes with other instructors, but this spoils the whole studio) read more

The teacher led a great class. This was the first time I have been back in a Yoga class in a very long time. I was just trying to keep up in the beginning, the warm up, heat building. it was a lovely class and a few of the other students made me feel welcome. thank you read more

Among the various teachers, the instruction is consistent and well communicated, both in studio and in the remote on-line classes. It was not difficult for a relative beginner like me to catch-on and immediately benefit. The ambience of the studio adds to the experience. read more

This was my very first yoga class ever and the instructor, Sarah Lee, was very welcoming. Her class was very easy to follow, even for a first timer. Sarah's energy and demeanor were very calming and supportive. I look forward to attending many other classes at Gaia with Sarah and the other instructors and beginning a lifelong practice of yoga and meditation. I am grateful to Sarah and Gaia for being there to guide me on this first step of my lifelong spiritual journey. read more

I have been a apart of Gaia for many years and find it to be the BEST yoga in my neighborhood and throughout the Richmond/Albany/El Cerrito locale. Excellent teachers, good yoga space and the remote classes with Kippy are those I do not want to miss. For the serious yogi and beginner. Thank you, Martina and Gaia! read more

Highly resonate with the calm, quiet mature energies of the instructors that Martina, the owner and master yoga instructor herself, has chosen. Also love that classes were offered virtually during Covid and now from this point forward! Also a wide variety of levels though I deeply appreciate the gentle yoga classes with Kippy as I age. For older practitioners, the perfect class! read more

Oh I got a raffle prize of five classes at Gaia yoga through a nonprofit fundraiser, and it took me a while to get around to redeeming them. In fact it wasn't until the coronavirus that I thought I would check to see if they had an online option. And sure enough they are way ahead of the game. I've used my five class gift card, and then just signed up for 20 more classes. It's been great, with a variety of classes. I'm kind of beginner - middle, and have not felt out of place in any of the classes I've chosen because they work well with my schedule. Great job staff! read more

A beautiful and peaceful space. Attentive instructors and the class was small which I really enjoyed. I look forward to returning.

The teachers were warm and welcoming and the class was everything that I had hoped for. I slept like a baby last night!

Did my first Zoom restorative yoga session Wednesday night with Jewel. I was pleased and surprised at how well it went. I've been with Jewel in class at the Gaia Yoga studio and liked her. She's warm and fun and clearly knows the body well, a thoughtful instructor. She gave clear instructions for folding blankets if one had no bolster, how to use a chair as a prop, making the class accessible. So glad I joined the group and will definitely attend again.... zoom or at the studio. read more

Love this sweet studio. The space is light and bright, and the teachers are wonderful. A local gem!

This my favorite place to practice yoga! Martina, the owner, has the most beautiful & compassionate spirit that truly embodies the essence of Gaia (Mother Earth). I've been attending yoga classes at Gaia Yoga for almost 5 years now (starting back when it was under Mindful Life). I've always appreciated the warm, professional and friendly approach of the teachers, especially Kippy. I've felt gently challenged and encouraged over the years and I've never felt pressured to do a pose I'm not ready for. The space feels like an environment of learning and curiosity, rather than a space of competition, which I so appreciate. I hope to continue attending classes at Gaia Yoga for years to come. Thanks for creating such a great space for yoga! read more

On a recent trip to the East Bay I stumbled across GAIA Yoga in the beautiful town of Point Richmond. First of all, I am the beginner of beginners of yogis but I felt so comfortable here. It is a beautiful space and I left feeling inspired and refreshed. On my next to the East Bay I will definitely be back. I love Giulia's restorative yoga class! She creates a peaceful environment and gently guides the you into what can be some deep poses (if you want them to be) all the while focused on healing yourself through entering a deeply relaxed state in each pose. And boy does she have a hypnotic voice! :-) I didn't realize until taking Giulia's classes that I could experience deeper postures without straining so much in a post. Location is great, too...easy parking on the weekends/nights. read more

Awesome little yoga studio with great teachers, plenty of street parking and accessible for all levels. One of things I did before I moved to the area was look for a local yoga studio. So glad I found Gaia (then Mindful Life). I take class with several teachers and enjoy and appreciate them all. I especially like that the classes attract friendly and supportive students, not the competitive atmosphere found in some studios, which is so contrary to the spirit of yoga. Namaste to everyone at Gaia. read more
