Loving Tuesday afternoon's Mindful Flow with Claire Smoker. Claire is kind, inclusive, and clear in her instructions, making the class accessible to all. And can we talk about the light here? Gorgeous, just gorgeous. I leave feeling good each time I go! read more

Nicole Becker designs a great restorative yoga experience. Super soundtrack, thoughtful narratives and moments of silence, suggests a variety of comfortable shapes and she makes each one even more comfortable with sandbag placement, blankets and whatever she thinks of to make us even more comfy! read more

I love Barbara, Ann Thuy, Claire and Nicole's classes. I always feel good afterwards and keep coming back:)

Beautiful and welcoming space. We loved out experience at the new location and had a great time at the Kirtan yesterday.

I went here with a friend for a Friday night restorative yoga class. The class was a combination of meditation + yoga. It was deeply relaxing, at just the right pace. What a perfect way to end the work week. Especially since I purchased their new student class pack (and even if I hadn't), I will most definitely be back! read more

Love Yoga Kula. Great teachers and friendly staff. I really like their new location too.

Im normally skeptical of a lot of yoga studios as they seem to focus on revenue and not the practice. YogaKula has certainly changed my belief. I truly love the instructors: Julia, Gillian, Leila, Saraswati. What really stuck out most is how they remember names, old or new, they pay attention to their students, give guidance, listen, super friendly, and also get to know them. Each class is worthwhile and I feel like a better person for myself and others since joining YogaKula. I initially signed up for the first 3 classes, then the first month, now I'm a monthly member, and even considering to take the teacher course. I'm two months in! No hard sell, no gimmicks, just honesty and "take or leave it" persona. Clearly, the natural and clam atmosphere does it for me. I'm always treated like a friend, part of the community, and a human. I HIGHLY recommend experiencing it yourself! read more

I feel like Yogakula is an oasis, that the consistent offering of space and great teachers has not changed , that the garden in the back of the studio is filling in and that Leila's lullabies during shabasna are a great gift, emanating from the great gift fr read more

I went a pilates class (so, Berkeley, right?) for the first time. Even though I was a novice, I was told to just come in and it would be easy. It is not. Thank you Baby Jesus that I found Joanna Arhon for a private session at Yoga Kula. Joanna didn't make feel awkward, stupid, or make me chant. She explained the philosophy of pilates, the breathing techniques, and helpful hints on how to make the most of my sessions. Also, Joanna provides a great new client rate for private sessions. I will soon be ready to take on the group pilates' challenge! Spandex not required. read more

YogaKula - Yoga Near Me - Berkeley, California

Clear teachers and clean, comfortable, well-lighted spatial environment, and friendly students

Fabulous place! I went to the Vinyasa on Saturday' at 9:30am and had an absolutely wonderful time. They have great intro offers and low stakes commitments for new students. Highly recommend for people who have both tried yoga before and are total beginners. I will now be coming back on Most Saturdays! read more

It was my first time at YogaKula referred by a friend. My visit was nothing short of amazing & transformative. My instructor Julia Alexander was phenomenal. She had a calm healing presence to her & was very clear/articulate in her instruction yet flexible for those just beginning. She shared an inspiring quote at the beginning by John O'Donohue "I would love to live like a river flows, carried by the surprise of its own unfolding." & integrated that message throughout the movements so they're fluid like water. Very spiritual experience. I felt more connected to my body & heart than ever & was able to release what didn't serve me while here. The space was nice, clean, organized, & even had a little zen seated area by the window waiting area where we could pour ourselves tea & ground ourselves before beginning. Loved it 100% & will be back next time in area. I never leave reviews but for this I felt compelled to do so. Definitely recommend read more

I'm on a quest to find my new yoga home. Ever since Groove Yoga closed, I've been a drifter and sadly fell out of a regular practice. This year, I decided to take advantage of free trial periods/new member deals to experience new studios. I'd walked by YogaKula (located in the Gourmet Ghetto) before and decided to try their free week. The studio has an airy, open feel and there are lots of props (blankets, blocks, cushions, straps). I went to two classes during my free week trial (both at noon). One was an Anusara class and the other was the Noon Flow class. The teachers were great and I liked that it was a very gentle practice. I usually do Power Yoga in heated rooms and come out looking like I've just stepped out of a shower. The studio at YogaKula is not heated and the flow is slow. It's perfect for a middle of the day class when I have to rush back to work. I'm sure their yin classes are amazing too. I will definitely purchase a class package to come here again. They also have a Community Yoga class on a sliding scale several times a week. I am still looking for a good Power Vinyasa studio but I am glad to have discovered YogaKula for my gentle practices! read more

Reasons to visit this studio: 1. Your instructor! If I could give more than a 10 I would. I cannot tell you everything I have been through in this short week of my life and how thankful I am my sister brought me. The compassion I felt from her helped me to find a glimmer of peace. I needed delicate and to be cared for. Thank you. 2. Cleanliness. 3. Ambiance. read more

My experience at YogaKula has always been amazing! The teachers were understanding, thorough, and gave personal feedback during class time which I appreciate. I love their mindful flow and restorative yoga classes. The space is super calming and pretty. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a yoga studio in Berkeley! read more

Beautiful studio excellent teacher, lovely natural light great floor, good receptionist, easy online scheduling hope to do it again.

Everyone was very friendly for my first class here ever! The studio is just the right size, and the windows let in the most beautiful light. My instructor was great with offering many variations throughout our flow. This is definitely going to be my go to studio in the neighborhood. read more

I'm new to this studio and have attended five classes so far, each with a different instructor. So far I'm loving the one hour classes! I appreciate the punctuality of the instructors and the hands on assistance. One instructor sang toward the end and I very much enjoyed that! They have tons of props and even issue yoga mats if you don't have one. They also have complimentary tea and water available. They also offer very affordable donation classes! Tip-if you have to use the restroom during a session, you have to go out of the yoga studio into a shared business hallway to find the restroom. Street parking isn't too bad but this studio does not have a parking lot. read more

YogaKula is such a beautiful and peaceful yoga studio. You can feel the calm aura the second you walk in. I tried their free week and I loved it. It made me develop a passion for yoga and meditation. Ever since then, I have been trying to include yoga in my workout routine. Most of the classes are Mindful Flow and Hatha Yoga, but each instructor has their own routine and personal style. I really enjoyed this aspect because even though I could only make it to the same type of class on most days, each instructor provided their own twist. Another thing that I enjoyed was the amount of props that they have available and that we used during the classes. From blankets and blocs to bolsters. They have loads! I found out, however, that the people working at the front desk are not very knowledgeable about the classes as they are just volunteers. Overall, wonderful studio and instructors that I definitely recommend. read more

The room was set up so beautifully for an evening of restorative yoga. I love Antonia.

Staff and owner were authentic, warm, and welcoming. Felt like a very grounded and peaceful, and safe environment. Thank you for a memorable "first ever" yoga class read more

This is the best yoga studio I've been to in Berkeley, or anywhere, really. The price is very fair ($20 for the first three classes, $11 for drop-in thereafter, and no pressure to sign up with an expensive plan). The class that I've been going to is small with personalized attention. The teacher is very aware of every student and is always prepared with a thoughtful series of poses. The space is beautiful and smells nice. You will not sweat, nor will you be encouraged to grunt or moan. Instead, you will feel refreshed and relaxed and wake up the next day still feeling good. read more

I took the online yoga Nidra in bed after my total knee replacement surgery! worked better than any drug!!

When I moved to Berkeley, I was looking for an 'authentic' yoga studio, and ever since my first visit to Yogakula, it felt true to yogic principles and tradition. On a whim, I signed up for the 100-hr yoga immersion program, to deepen my practice and knowledge of the philosophy. It was such an enriching journey that I continued on to complete my 200-hour yoga teacher training. Being in the space and this wonderful community month over month helped me tide over circumstances with lesser stress and greater acceptance & adaptability, than what was possible for me before. I felt an inner shift over the course of the program. The practice catalyzed within me a certain mental freedom, my relationships have transformed, and I truly feel grateful for the equanimity I felt in such a challenging time (covid). Saraswati is a very effective and loving teacher, and in her, many of us have found a mentor and guide. She has an uplifting presence and deeply cares for the people as well as the subject. After the training I feel I have this deep connection with yoga for life. read more

Yogakula is an oasis of tranquillity in my busy life. Though yoga can be a definite workout, the instructors at Yogakula are careful to balance the exercise aspect of classes with breathing and focusing on calming the mind. The early morning classes are a great start to the day! Teachers seem enthusiastic and deeply knowledgeable. Yay for yoga! read more

I took a restorative class, which felt amazing, and the teachers instruction was great. I appreciate the affordable price as well.

I loved the vibe of the class and the personalized content to areas of my body that were feeling like they needed more love and attention. The instructor was incredibly welcoming and supportive! The studio is bathed in light from the windows and has a beautiful flow to the space. I love it at YogaKula. read more

As an up and coming yoga instructor super star, my regular practice lately has been mostly at home, or wherever I can find a place to plop my mat. Every once in a while I branch out, go check out a new teacher, or a new studio and hear something new that somehow always ends up being exactly the message I needed to hear that day! Bizarre! At least that has been my experience at Yoga Kula, whether it was at this location in Berkeley with Siri Peterson, or at their other location in the city. The yoga here is Anusara inspired, for those of you who aren't familiar with yoga terminology, it means there is a heavy focus on your body's alignment throughout each class. I personally have not been certified in Anusara, just taken a couple workshops. I have come to the conclusion, that there is a philosophical and somewhat spiritual element to each class, but it never seems to go overboard. It is always enough to make you think and reflect, while enjoying movement with breath (yoga), while strengthening your body and mind. Not to toot my own horn or anything, but if I am not doing my own yoga practice, this is pretty much my next best choice! Yoga Kula, you rock! :-) Lots of good energy, good vibes, and sweet people.. Can't wait to get back for some more.. New Student Offer: Three Classes/ $25 ! read more
