I have been Maureen's client since 1994. Unbeknown to me, I was dealing with crushed vertebrae on C7, 76 and C5 as a result of a car accident in approximately 1966. My repeated attempts to get medical help resulted in being educated by physicians to the fact that there was no such thing as whiplash. In 1990 severe pain in my back struck and I had to give up dancing. Again I sought medical help and again I repeatedly received medical advise that I merely suffered from the feminine disease of hysteria. "Let me prescribe you some pills". By 1994 my problems were so severe that I felt I was headed for a wheelchair. I had strong legs, an aching back and was barely able to support my head and unable to lie down in any position.
Maureen applied her knowledge and her skill to my body and made me reasonably functional. With her help I could now get several continuous hours of sleep sitting in a chair. She gave me enough relief so that I could go on until my next appointment, a week hence, wishing that I could get daily treatments.
In 1993?, A chiropractor, upon looking taking an X-ray dropped me as his client, but suggested I see a surgeon. Who, after looking at the X-ray provided by the chiropractor advised me that he would not touch my neck. He advised that in the near future such an operation would be possible and that I should find help where ever I could until then. Help in the form of surgery arrived in 2010. In all those years, since 1994, Maureen kept my body going so that I survived long enough to get that surgery in March 2010.
The surgery left me with a paralyzed left arm. A year later when most of my arm was functional again, all 21 nerves in my neck started to fire continuously without a break, day and night. It took one year and many, many attempts by various medical practitioners to find the solution to that. In the meantime, I had prepared my suicide kit.
In all that time it was Maureen's skill and abilities that helped to see me through that world of pain. She by releasing my locked muscles provided mobility and reduced some of the pain and thereby was one of the key factors that gave me the strength to see it through.
Once the nerves stopped firing, in June 2012, I was able to concentrate on learning how to sit, stand and walk properly from Maureen. She worked my body, she supported my resolve, she showed me ways to improve my lot. I am a bad student, it seems, for she still has to work on me to keep my aging body upright. I owe Maureen a lot, for it was her work on my aching body that helps see me through it all. Today, my strong legs allow me to take 15-20 minutes daily walks and I am able to dance again (except for that falling-down stuff). read more
