I'll give only two stars because of the pastas that I had. They were very basic, and not fresh pastas, which is a shame for an Italian place. The staff were cool, and saw only tourists. It is pretty much hard to find a good place in this neighborhood of Nice since there are a lot of tourists traps. They should serve less, but better quality. Excellent oysters, large portions, decent service for a place so packed. Seafood pasta wasn't great. Atmosphere typical for an American-style resto, 100% tourist clientele (russian/ chinese). There's nothing Nicois about this place. Bottom line. If you're looking for a comfortable place with an English menu and large selection then Boccacio is highly recommended. Wow! There are little words to describe the magical meal my boyfriend and I had here in Nice. Be prepared to spend a lot on the exquisite food and superb service. We did not have a reservation but we were seated immediately. We started with the oysters which were so fresh and delicious. It is also extremely difficult to resist dipping bread in the uniquely flavored butter. My boyfriend ordered the Dover sole with truffle mashed potatoes while I ordered the sea bream. The fish was the best I've ever had, with no salty seawater flavor to it. My boyfriend concurs on his sole. The truffle mashed potatoes were so flavorful and perfectly prepared. We then ordered the creme brûlée and were shocked to see that it was a size bigger than I've ever seen. The people at the table next to us were laughing because it was so massive! In the end, we were the ones laughing when we wiped the plate clean. It is safe to say that I will be dreaming about this meal until I am back in Nice. read more

We ate here last night, first we were seated outside near the door, we asked to move inside instead, the waiter showed us through. Service felt slightly different inside compared to the casual dining outside, a little more formal? Our waiter was great, my fiancé and I shared some oysters (exquisite) and muscles, the muscles were in an amazing tomato base sauce and there was a massive bowl of them! Run! It is sooo expensive and not worth the cost. To us, it is a tourist trap restaurant. They are pushy and as you are looking at the menagerie menu they are pressuring you into the Paella (a Spanish dish they should not try to duplicate) and the seafood based on cost alone tells you are about to be over paying. One of our last nights in Nice my husband and I had dinner here. We sat at the tables street side. We decided to come here because we had passed tables and tables of outrageously huge cascading towers of crawfish, lobster claws and tails, clams, oysters, everything from the sea. We looked at the menu and saw that it was out of our price range since I only like lobster and crab and it was about $200eu. Then we saw the paella. We were immidiatly seated on the patio quite close to the patrons next to us (true Paresian way) and began to order. It was our last meal in Nice so we ordered a bottle of wite wine, the cheapest on the menu was still $40eu and the paella which we later found out could feed a small country. It had all the seafood my husband liked tucked into a bed of flavorful rice. This mega saucer took over most of our table but it stayed warm with the small candle lit underneath. If you find youself on the Rue Massena you have plenty of good choices but I would recommend this one. read more

Boccaccio is located on a very touristy street next to nondescript eateries, so we did not expect much. However, if you don't mind the price, this an extremely good location for a lunch in Nice. We tried the prix fixe menu (seafood), and it turned out excellent. It is definitely worth it to sit outside if the shade is available (some seats are in the sun). This provides ample opportunities for people-watching both in the street and in the restaurant (most of the patrons are tourists sent here by the staff at the hotels, but there is also a fair share of locals of foreign extraction). We tried also a dinner here, and it worked out well. However, at this price level there are more exciting places to dine in Nice. All said, if you are in the mood for seafood, whether it is lunch or dinner, this is a reliable place to go. read more

This restaurant had the best meal of my family's life. We had so much shellfish that mussels might be endangered now and every piece of it was amazing. We had oysters on the half shell, a basket of seafood, pasta with seafood, and the seafood paella. Our two person paella would serve three or four and was better than the ones we've had in Spain. Walked in without a reservation and walked out saying we had one of the best meals of our lives. Our hotel recommended this place to us. The service was a little rude and snippy towards us as 3 young Americans. The food was great (especially truffle mashed potatoes) and the fresh seafood platters looked fantastic. The only drawback is the price. Definitely not a place to go if you're not looking to spend big. Cheapest bottle of wine is 30€. We had the grilled calamari, lobster linguini, and the sea bream. We travel here for business & Boccaccio is a given stop every time. I love the food, wine & location. I have been here numerous times & have only had starters & the paella, which is the star of the show. The paella is delicious, especially when you get the crispy bits from the bottom of the huge paella pan they bring to the table & is more than plentiful. The cost is per person, minimum 2 people. I don't recall being confused about that, from a previous reviewer. You can choose from different ingredients in your paella. Great food, but everyone here knows that this place gives CRAZY big portions for a good price! For starters, I had the mussels and raw oysters. There had to be at least 100 mussels in the bowl. It was amazing and tasted way fresher than other mussels I've had in Nice. The raw oysters were some of the best raw oysters I've had in a while. My father and I are New Orleans natives and we take raw oysters VERY seriously and usually fix them up with lemon, horse radish and hot sauce, but the oysters were so good we didn't need any fixings; just a squeeze of a lemon and we were good to go. For my meal my mother and I split the seafood paella, which is what they're famous for. So good, so much seafood, and so worth it. You probably won't finish it, but I think they know that. And last but definitely not least came dessert. I'm a crème brûlée fanatic, so of course I ordered that; I was warned the portion was big, but I didn't pay any mind to it. It was bigger than my face. I couldn't finish it because there was absolutely no room in my stomach, but I wish I could've. Overall, of the best meals I've probably ever had. read more

This place is terrible, at 33€ per person for seafood paella I expect fresh, good quality seafood instead it tasted old. They basically cooked the seafood to the point of being burnt to try and mask the poor quality. The rice was undercooked, the whole pan was drenched in oil and the chorizo was too salty. Please avoid this tourist trap which seems to be very high on the concierge list. If you like huge portions of really badly prepared pasta served in a tacky nautical themed hall, this is it.
