Being a Friday evening the atmosphere was busy without being hurried and we could enjoy the music from nearby restaurants and the bustle of people making their way to dinner or a night out. Food was fresh, flavourful, and served in very generous portions. The service was fast, attentive, and very clever at convincing us to get desserts (without being pushy). Visited bienvenue to on the last day of our trip. I've been wanting some good Italian pasta and this didn't disappoint. The Tagliatelle was it overcooked and the sauce was excellent. My husband had a salad, it was delicious! The octopus wasn't rubbery, it was flavorful and served with a nice light dressing. Note if you do not like arugula please have them hold it or it may ruin your dish. The seafood risotto was also very good, it needed a little bit of salt but that's it! The wait staff was very nice, and extremely accommodating, and the price was reasonable! It wasn't very touristy, which was great! I've had a decent amount of Italian food in France, and there's an abundance here in Nice. I found this place to be just okay - the service is great and the servers speak a lot of languages but I thought the food was just okay. We came late on a Friday night (thankfully this place opens fairly late) and ordered just two entrees. I got the squid ink spaghetti with seafood and this was fine - the seafood was fresh and tasty but I didn't find the tomato sauce super flavorful - it needed something a little extra. It does come with mussels, clams, some calamari and one big shrimp. I don't know if I would get this again - it was fine for my dish but I wouldn't necessarily get it again. My husband got a piece of lasagna with a small side salad and we were disappointed with this - it was warmed up in the microwave and still cold in the middle. The lasagna was just so-so: there were a lot of layers of pasta that were kind of soggy, and then just the beef and cheese. I definitely wouldn't get this again. Overall, this place is okay but not amazing. At least we didn't need a reservation to eat here, not was it super expensive, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. If you don't have a lot of other options this is fine, but it was probably my least favorite meal during our weekend in Nice. read more

Benvenuto deserves 5 stars and it's an absolute must try Italian restaurant in Nice. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. It is a family run restaurant and they do an extraordinary job both with the food and with service. The guy who takes take of service for all the tables is very friendly and has a good command of English. He patiently explained the menu to every patron. We ordered Tagliatelle Boscaiola, which is tagliatelle pasta with cream sauce, mushrooms, peas and pancetta. The portion size is humongous. My husband and I shared the plate and we were super full. It was just out of the world! Way tooo good! The cream wasn't overpowering, instead very yummy and filling. We wound up the meal with Zuppa Inglese dessert. Delish, once again. Fantastic italian restaurant in the heart of nice with 5 star service. Marco is the waiter, his mother owns the restaurant and cooks the delicious food. They've been open under a year and are true roman chefs. Ambience: on an unassuming street away from the craziness of the vieux ville and cours saleya. Food: delicious. I recommend the truffle ravioli - but make sure you have an empty stomach. Its quite filling. All the pasta is made on site of course. Service: 5 star service from marco. He's quite charming and he seems determined to make the restaurant a success. It's not often that you get people who love their work and genuinely want to help you. We started with the burrata and the octopus salads with mustard greens. The burrata was creamy and the octopus salad was seasoned very well. I had the black linguine with seafood it was very good. The risotto with seafood was also seasoned well and abundant. The lasagna was over cooked and a little dry. Overall, the dinner was very tasty and was incredibly reasonable in price. Buratta salad - best buratta I've ever had, fresh. Gnocchi bolognese was spectacular - best gnocchi I've ever had. Lasagna - fantastic, just about the best lasagna I've ever had. Truffle ravioli - exquisite, sauce unlike anything I've ever had. Spaghetti AOP - so simple and fresh. Panacotta - very good, maybe a little too much fruit on the top. Got bottles of the Montepulciano and Barbera d'asti - each went very well with the pastas. Service was very friendly as well. Bread was good - olive oil took it over the top. Incredibly rude and harried wait staff and crapshoot food. This woman who owns this restaurant is one of the most disrespectful people I have ever met, and thoroughly traumatized both my kids and me. When we arrived, she called us over in a frantic and annoyed manner and barely seated us before running off. When she finally returned, she said that she was out of what we wanted to order. This was only the start of one of the most horrific evenings of my life. The owner seemed very stressed out, and I would've felt sorry for her if she hadn't been completely rude and hateful to my entire family. She was snatching things away from us and plunking things down in the most unpleasant and unprofessional manner. She was similarly put out to explain any dishes. My son's dish was spaghetti with garlic, oil and peppercorn but was ultimately completely inedible. It was extremely spicy, almost as if the entire pepper container had fallen in by mistake. I tried to explain to the owner that there was way too much pepper, yet she refused to listen and yelled at both me and my kids for not "reading the menu properly." She made a big scene and then sent over a waitress to tell me in a similarly condescending fashion that "peppercorn means peppercorn." Apparently, if a dish includes peppercorn, I should be prepared to gulp down three glasses of water with each bite. My other son's white bean soup was very salty and thin with a layer of oil floating on top. I was prepared to love it here but it ended up being one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. By this point, I was ready to call it a night. I asked for the bill and gave the waitress my American Express because both the restaurant and their Yelp page advertise that they "accept credit cards." However the waitress causally informed me that their credit card machine was broken, and that I had to walk to an ATM so I could get euros to pay for my meal. I was pretty worn down by this point, so I agreed even though the entire night had been ridiculously bad. The owner escorted me to the ATM, and felt free to turn around every five seconds to berate me with "hurry up!" When we made it to the ATM, I took out money to give to the owner who promptly told me that she forgot to bring change. She told me that she had some back at her restaurant, and told me that if one of my sons walked back with her she would give it to him to give to me. I'm not sure why I agreed to this, because my son returned a few minutes later in tears saying that she had given him the euros she owed me only after forcing him to read the menu aloud in front of all the other customers. This was his "punishment" for not "reading the menu properly when he ordered." I normally only leave Yelp reviews when I've had a good experience, but thought that this needed to be shared. Avoid Benvenuto (and its owner) at all costs. read more

The best Italian food I've had in my entire life. Period. The place is small on a street close to rue de France.. It was a bit hard to find.. Right next to a place called daddies. The owner is a lovely women and our server was a man named Marco who I believe was the owners son.. He was great. I explained everything patiently and took his time. Lunch was the last meal of my Nice trip before I headed off to the airport, so I had wanted to find a "nice" spot for some pasta as I got told it's probably one of the better dishes to eat when in town. It was a bit of a struggle to find an Italian restaurant as several were not open, the address details were wrong or didn't seem to exist. It was all very strange but I was happy enough when I found this place was open. I had a look at the menu and decided on the hand made ravioli, the waiter dropped by with the menu and I said I already knew what I wanted. He was a little shocked and asked if I was sure that I didn't want to see the menu, I requested the ravioli which resulted in a small smirk and a nod. He said very wise choice that was probably one he was going to recommend, My meal came out very quickly which was always something I appreciate and wow it was good, again one of those dishes I almost ordered a second time. It was the 6th December but the sun was out so I was sitting outside enjoying the sunshine. The pasta was wonderful and the staff were great and the price, well I thought it was a mistake it was so cheap. I would recommend dropping by here for sure if you are looking for a lovely authentic Italian restaurant when in town. read more
