This was the first restaurant my fiancée stumbled upon on our first night in Nice and we were pleasantly surprised. It doesn't look like much from the outside and there's a couple of super touristy bars right next to it but the food here was actually quite good. They had a super interesting concept where you got to pick your pasta type (spaghetti, fusili, fettuccine, etc.) then you pick the type of sauce you want (Cacio e pepe, carbonara, Arrabiata, etc.) I personally got the carbonara with spaghetti and it was pretty solid. The price was quite reasonable but to be completely honest there seems to be a ton of more Italian options in Nice, so I wouldn't say this is a MUST visit, but a nice meal nevertheless! read more

We spent our last night in Nice and spent over 20 minutes looking for this place, just to find out they changed names. Really enjoyed our meals. Same Chef I believe, just new signage. I had the lobster pasta, and my wife had the mussels. The mussels were big enough for us to share. The bread and butter was amazing too. I believe this is the only place that actually gave me the right portion and flavor i wanted upon traveling to France. Here, you get to choose what type of entree you want. Each entree includes pasta, and the great thing about it is that you can choose what type of pasta you want. This place offers a good amount of different types of wine, and a few beers on tap. I ordered the rib eye steak with rigatoni tomate pasta. Steak was well marinated, but pasta could've been a slight bit sweeter and it would've tasted amazing! This restaurant is a bit over-rated. The price is good. But the seafood is not as fresh. They also didn't clean the mussel properly (algae still attached on the shell) and it's undercooked. We also ordered razor fish pasta but they didn't clean them properly either with lots of sand left on the fish, and also it's overcooked. We ordered seafood risotto, which is pretty good. And a seafood platter. Highly recommend the platter as the fish is nice. If I come next time, I will order fishes. Play safe. read more

This place is truly a hidden gem! Make sure you call in to reserve your spot because locals also come here and yes, they call in to reserve their spot. We saw a lot of people get turned away because they had no reservations. The service was above and beyond. Thomas was very attentive. We ordered the mussels for appetizer and we were surprised that it was split into two bowls for us because we told him it was to share. Very pleased with the presentation and wow the taste was fresh and flavorful. For our main meal we had pasta with clams and pasta with shrimp. Again, we were blown away by the freshness of the food and so much flavor. Everything was cooked to perfection. We paired our food with house white wine. Yum! We were prepared to pay the price but surprised the bill was pretty low considering the quality of the food and service. We left happy, satisfied, and will return! read more

While staying in Nice we visited Portovenere several times and never came away disappointed! The staff is welcoming and friendly and the food is delicious and authentically Italian. Everything is made fresh daily; the pasta dishes are all wonderful and the portion sizes are HUGE! Tip: Over and above the fabulous pasta, we tried several fish dishes, and they were all excellent and fresh :-) Yes, the food here is phenomenal, but I suggest you make an effort to save room for dessert; their Tiramisu is out-of-this-World good - it's one of the best I've had in recent memory :-) read more

After having our fair share of French cuisine, we decided to shake it up a bit and have some Italian food in the city of Nice. It was a most welcomed change of pace and very delicious. The seafood pasta dishes that we ordered were fresh and full of flavor. The patio was spacious and allowed for a vivacious dining experience, as tourists and locals will walk past you through the busy street. The menu came with pictures, which came in handy as we knew what to expect with the dishes that were ordered. The only reason why I can't up this to 5 stars is because our razor clams had a little bit more grain than we liked. Not sure if we can really fault the restaurant for this, but it is what it is. The seasoning was on point though with the rest of the dish. Highly recommend the Prawn with Linguine. Very flavorful and the noodles were cooked perfectly as Al dente! The food is very authentic and says true to the Italian name ! The chef is exactly how you would imagine an Italian chef would be. Onto the food... Seafood pasta - personally, out of the four dishes we ordered I think I hit the jackpot with this order. They gave a generous portion of muscles! You'll get one or two big shrimps, squid, muscles and regular clams. The sauce was very good as well. Not too overpowering and not too salty at the same time. I recommend trying this order. Clam pasta - I tried a spoonful of it, it to be honest it was kind of bland. It wasn't my order so take this with a grain of salt. Portovenere is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Nice. The owner personally serves every table. We had clams and muscles for starter. They were cooked just right not over cooked. Seasoning was perfect. The prawns with linguine (Scampi) were to die for; the prawns were huge and the linguine was made fresh and cooked to perfection. We also had Fruits de Mer linguini. Portion was big, enough for two. We also had Panna Cotta, delicious. However, you must have reservation. This place get booked up by the locals very quickly. In particular, try the anything a frutti di mare or the zuppa di pesce-- it's the most originally italian restaurant we tried here. Though very popular, we were under-impressed with the taste of the food. It's possible we simply ordered the wrong items (risotto shrimp&mushroom and sea food pasta). The location is superb in an active street with lots of people watching opportunity. If you'd like to sit outside make sure you call ahead. Outdoor seating is limited and is mostly reserved. I do not know why this place has such high reviews. We were in Nice a week and this was hands down the worst meal. The Chicken Marsala was bland and didn't seem to be made with Marsala at all. The fried veal tenderloin was horribly over cooked, no seasonings and terrible. I was only able to eat part of it. My veggies were burned as well.
