Never having tried Argentine food my boyfriend and I decided to come here. We asked the waiter what he recommended and what was a popular dish. We took his advice and it is my always go-to order. I always order the Milanese Boca Junior (fried steak in a pinkish cream sauce) with creamy mashed potatoes. This is an awesome spot to get some real good Argentine food. The skirt steak, blood sausages, grill chicken, pastas, etc are all good (getting hungrier as I right this). Their sangria is top notch and the Quilmes is good too. The staff are all male but friendly and will go out their way to accommodate you and your guest. Although, on Mother's day I went there not thinking it was going to be crowded, man was I wrong. Be sure to call the restaurant and get a reservation but the good thing was I only waited for an half hour and it was worth it :) Also if your a big Boca Juniors fan like my dad then you'll love it here! Everything about the club is all over the walls and it's a great place to watch a football/soccer match. But I do wish the place was a bit bigger. YUM YUM YUM BOOOOCCAASS! Last august, I threw my bf a big surprise bday party at this place because he had told me it was one of his favorite local spots and he wanted to take me there. I made a reservation for a group of about 18 and they gave us a separate room from the rest of the restaurant. My friends were there on time but my bf and I were late (on purpose) .. they didn't want to order until we got there , our waiter was a bit pushy yet still patient (from what I hear). Once we got there, the service was great. I ordered the skirt steak (entraña) because I heard they have the best in town. Now let me clarify, I am super picky with my skirt steak.. it is the most delicious steak ever when made correctly and only one place that I've been to has gotten it right so I was sure Boca would not make it as good as I expected. BUT when I tried the first piece... WOW WOW WOW!!! IT WAS FLIPPIN DELICIOUS!! I tried to savor every last piece but it went too quickly :( The wait staff sang Happy Birthday to my boyfriend and gave him a piece of flan with a candle in it... it was scrumptious!! Ok- to those that have had any cow meat in Argentina, you know that no where else will ever compare...so there is no point in comparing them to the country. In comparison to other Argentinan restaurants in Queens- this one is one of the best (my fave., La Esquina Criolla: http://www.yelp.com/biz/la-esquina-criolla-elmhurst). The decor is based off the futbol team Boca Juniors, hence all the blue and yellow- even the waiters wearing the uniforms as if they just came from a game. The owner is definitely a fanatic hehe. I've been here on numerous occasions. Sometimes crowded-so you will get one waiter who is tending to more than his fair share of tables...other nights you will get the perfect service. I love how occasionally the waiters and even chef(s) come out and do La Murga around the restaurant with their, guess what? yellow and blue umbrellas, and sounds of cheers from a Boca game blasting through the speakers. They'll do it for fun, or for someone's birthday. Not necessarily a guarantee but we have asked for them to do it once and our request was granted. I do have to take one star away...because although it has ONLY been on one occasion...it still shouldn't have occurred. I was going to put a spoonful of chimichurri on my plate and....drum roll... a lovely dead roach was smack in the middle of it! One night me and my husband decided to finally go to this place considering we've been living in Queens for years, never gone in and we were curious. Great atmosphere, we loved the whole soccer theme they had going on and I personally loved that they also had banners and posters of other teams, not just Boca Juniors. Firstly, the waiter wasn't the best. We would see him go about his other tables and take care of them first (mind you they came in after us) and we would sit there try to stare him down to get his attention. That's one star off. I understand if this is your go to place and you're a regular, but when the staff is trying to sing happy birthday to another patron this doesn't mean for you to raise your voice while you're singing. I'm sure the lady recording the whole thing didn't appreciate his singing in the background.....oh and when there's customers sitting next to a TV, don't turn up the volume, it's really rude. Every country has it's own thing, and they call different foods different names, but it would've been nice if there would've been a note under every plate describing what it actually is! Loved the decor! Soccer jerseys, photographs of famous players and fans' scarves on the walls, TVs with soccer fifa games. Great especially if you're an Argentinian but cool for any soccer fan. As for the food, though, I wasn't a huge fan. We ordered two huge trays of barbeque to share and it just wasn't for me - I can eat most things, but there are a few things I hate, and tasting fat is one such thing. The platters contained a couple different types of meat, and I feel like I unwittingly grabbed a large piece of the fattiest type. We had it done medium-rare, too, and the combination of fat and wiggly unchewiness just really didn't bode well for me. My wife, sister, brother-in-law, and two toddler nephews and I had dinner here last night. I had passed this place many times and had meant to come in for some time. Finally we ate here last night. While the atmosphere was fun and inviting, especially for families, the food was mediocre at best. We ordered 2 chicken soups for the kids, which were extremely salty, and two "mixed grill for two" (parrillada mixtas por 2) and we found it very underwhelming. The different meats all pretty well tasted the same (except for the Morcilla and tripe), and the $6 "mixed vegetable" side dish was nothing more than some frozen mixed vegetables boiled and put on a plate - extremely underwhelming. Altogether, I was glad I tried it because now I know I'll never return. This place is GARBAGE! The steaks were overpriced and low quality. It tasted and looked like something out of their local supermarket. The service is a joke! we had plates and cups thrown at us like they didn't want to be there. They also overcharged us for the beans when it was included, since no one understood English well, we just ended up paying. Also, it smelled like burnt smoke inside with no ventilations. Upon arriving there were a bunch of drunk men blocking the entrance and wouldn't let us enter, so being that I was pregnant I already had a bad taste with this restaurant. I've lived in this neighborhood for 9 years and yesterday for the very first time I decided to go with my boyfriend to this place. I had a feeling they were not gonna disappoint us but I was wrong. First, the waiter pushed us to get the Boca Parrillada which is $65 but we felt it was going to be a lot for just the two of us and decided to go with the Parrillada para uno and some appetizers. The waiter made a face clearly not liking the fact we went with a cheaper option. Food in general was good but the chorizo had a weird smell. We let them know and then they brought a new one which also smelled weird and had a grey-ish color. The busser was in a rush to remove our plates despite the fact that my boyfriend was still eating. At the end of the night, they brought the check and asked us to leave a tip in "cash", it was a bit weird they would say so but still we left 20% despite the terrible service. As we were leaving my boyfriend caught one of the waiters waving his hand like asking us to leave, MAD RUDE. If I could give this restaurant negative stars I would. From the beginning we should have known to get out! I went to a friend's birthday dinner and the first thing that went wrong was that there was a cockroach crawling on top of our table. The waiter had such an attitude and was by far the worse waiter I had ever encountered. He was not attentive, he was more concerned with the game that was going on rather than serving us. We didn't receive water, we basically had to beg to get his attention. The food was so nasty. My friends ordered the parrilladas and they complained the meat was like rubber and some parts were basically raw. I ordered a fish dish that was disgusting! Salt central! I didn't even eat half. And again the whole time there when we would ask the waiter for something he'd give us an attitude as if he was doing us a favor. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST! Yesterday I met a Argentinan guy and right away we started to talk about fútbol, he told me he was a fan of boca juniors and when I told him that so was I he told me about this place. From the moment you get a glampse outside you get mesmerized with it! Pictures and shirts from the club all over the pace, the history is told by the walls of this place and I did soend most of my time just looking at the walls!!! I ordered a boca juniors milanesa steak and had some quilmes beers. Had a wonderfull time there and I hope I come back soon. Flashy restaurant with lively environment! If you are into authentic argentinian food then this place is DEF for you. If you have a rather american pallet then you may just want to stick to their skirt steak. I had no experience in south american food before my visit and the frito intestines and blood sausage irked me, but the skirt steak dipped in chimichurri was fantastic! Though I've lived in the neighborhood for many years, last night was the first time I've been to Boca Junior's. I was floored by how good the place is. It was Friday, and it was packed and loud, with coverage of FIFA's World Cup coverage on all video screens. It was, nevertheless, a happy crowd and the wait staff was very attentive, especially our server, Pancho. The owner's son, Matias, came by at the end of our meal and he couldn't be nicer. And, the food was outstanding, especially the "parrillada," grilled meats, done to perfection and served hot. I would recommend Boca Junior's to anyone, though I'd suggest another day as Fridays apparently is always packed. read more

This place was rockin when it first opened. I dunno what happened. 2 stars? Here are some reasons. Food - Overrated! My friends raved about this place like it was the best steakhouse and Argentinian food in New York. I asked for medium rare steak and it came out almost well done and it was too salty. I remember when Boca's first opened, they had a pizza parlor once you walked in. Now that shit was something to rave about! The cheese they used on their pizza was delicious. I have no idea why they got rid of the pizza part of their restaurant. I lived around the area for 15 years and for the short time they had their pizza parlor opened, the cheese they used was very memorable. The fat guy with glasses making and serving the pizza was a dick though. Service - Eh, if you look or are Latino or Argentinian, you're safe. A hungry cat such as myself walks in and gets shit service for the entire night....very disappointing. Ambiance - Pretty fancy and clean. If they food and service improved, it be a nice place to bring a date to. Verdict - I'm very 50/50 with this place. I really liked it when they first opened. The guys here were very nice to us because my friend lived in the apartment building right behind them and we came just about everyday for pizza and sometimes take out. My father and I waited 20 minutes to get a menu before we waited to wave down a waiter. The food came quickly but we were not approached at any point in the meal to refill drinks or ask how we were doing. If Boca means "mouth" in Spanish, Junior must mean "stuff it with delicious chunks of tasty meat." Boca Junior's simply kicks ass. Steaks are cooked to perfection, with just the perfect amount of sea salt to season it. For $15 you can get a delicious piece of meat. My favorite is short ribs. Boca Juniors the team may have had it's ups and downs but the restaurant in Queens has always been solid. The food is great. If you're a vegetarian you can stop reading this review right now, go get some soy burgers and think long and hard about where your life is going. Now for all you carnivores. The steak is great, the Milanesa is HUGE. If you're coming here come hungry. Don't let the size scare or fool you, this is actually a great piece of meat. It's seasoned well and with the fries tastes great. It was here I was introduced to Quilmes. Apparently this is the Argentine equivalent of Budweiser, but better and with a larger market share. It tastes great and it's so smooth. Why haven't I had this beer before? I was there to check out a Champions League match recently and it was relatively empty. A over flashy decorated restaurant with no flare in the service or on the plates. Food: 3 Stars The food was good, but extremely basic. This is the first time (that I can recall) I have ever gone to a restaurant that didn't garnish its plates in any way. Even diners would add half a pickle just to make it look more presentable. I ordered the skirt steak (med rare) which came out on an oval plate and that was it. The fries came out on a plate of their own. To me all I saw on my plate was a slab of meat slightly overcooked with nothing to make me wanting to come back. The only saving grace was the meat & chicken empanadas for appetizers. They were truly delicious and seemingly made fresh by the chefs. Drinks: 3 Stars Never received a drink menu from them so I have no idea what they have for mixed drinks. They did however stock a lot of Quilmes which is an excellent beer in my opinion and it came out ice cold which brings out its natural flavor. For some reason (I don't know why) the person in our group of 7 decided to pay above the gratuity for service that was rather poor. We never saw our waiter for most of the meal. After we paid our check we chatted for less than 5 minutes...then all of a sudden we were asked to leave by I assume a captain. There was a line forming and they wanted the table immediately. He tried to joke around about it, but he wanted us out badly and had a real attitude in his voice and actions. If I have any recommendations for this restaurant it is to package the empanadas and sell them to retailers and wholesalers to be sold at other restaurants and household snacks. I never write a review but honestly this place sucks! The waitstaff is rude and incompetent. I always thought the food was bad and pricey but I really had enough when a friend was accused from walking away without paying the bill, when he clearly didn't. He asked the waiters for the video to prove it and all they said was that they didn't have it because it had happened 6 months ago. My friend was so upset and confused. Being the great person that he is, and worried about his reputation, he paid what they asked. I guess this is a new strategy that the waiters are using to steal form the restaurant. Food was somewhat ok. However, the service was terrible, the waiter not once came by to check on us. We had to ask for drink refill. After the we came to get the plates and not once were we asked if we wanted anything else. Had to flag the waiter after 20 mins of sitting there to get him to give us our check. After receiving the check, I realized why the service was terrible. They add the tip of over 18%, even with a party of 2. We took my father to eat there for his bday and didn't get the service we'd expected. The waiters were most of the time talking to the other staff and talking to the other people in the restaurant.
