1st time at this restaurant, definitely not what was expected, waiters really don't pay much attention to you and treat you as if they are doing you a favor, why not? If the tip is automatically added to your bill, crappy service or not, they get their 18%. The food was definitely average and expensive, nothing great or unique about it, the seafood used in their paella tasted old, the rice had no flavor, and the shrimp was like chewing a rubber toy, ended up with stomach problems all night. Been coming here for years with my family however I agree with the other Yelpers, place has gone down. Food was just okay, ordered the meat platter. However their service is the reason we won't be coming back here again. The wait staff pick and choose who they want to be hospitable with as not everyone get the same treatment and it's clearly evident. They are rude and inattentive. Me and a Buddy went in there on a Saturday when there was a full schedule of soccer games on television. We walk in and all the TV's are off and the place is like a morgue. We ordered our food and asked the waiter to please turn on the Manchester United Game. He looked at us like we had 5 heads!. For a soccer oriented establishment you'd think there would be soccer on 24/7 no matter what team is playing. Strike 1. We order our steaks and they come out with the crappiest fries i've ever had. The steak tasted like something you'd buy at dollar tree!. for 20.00+ you'd think you get some decent steak but it was awful!. The best part about the entire meal was the Quilmes Beers.Strike 2 and the final nail in the coffin. the dreaded 18% gratuity tacked onto the bill. Have been here a handful of time but the food is always delicious. Casual environment with lots of TVs. Service can be a little inattentive but the food makes up for it. I got the breaded steak with cheese and onion. It was huge tasty and filling. Came with a side of mashed potatoes that were delicious buttery and whipped. Had the meat empanada to start which was ok. My friend had cheese ravioli with cream sauce that was also very tasty. Meal is served with bead with bruschetta and chimi churro sauce which was a great way to start the meal. We spent last Sunday celebrating My Brother's Birthday. He likes play football, so we decided to go one restaurant associated with that. (We had never tasted the Argentine food). When we arrived they received so friendly. Food was delicious, especially types of steak. I got the chicken with champions and was amazing! Mashed potatoes at the perfect point, rice is ok. Our waiter was nice and kind. I think a good environment comes with good music, and this music was so cool! I Don't know about the likes of other people, but we love R&B/ Soul and Pop Music. The reason why i think this restaurant deserves one star is for the following reasons. Me and my wife went there on a Saturday afternoon thinking that it was a time to try something different other than the usual outback across the street. First off we should have turned around and left after the person who was to seat us completely ignored us and grab the people that came in after us. When he came back he ask if its just the two of us, i said yes, and we were seated. We sat down and drinks were placed. When the drinks came the waiter did not say anything to us, didnt ask if we were ready to order he directed his attention to the other tables. 20 minutes passed by and i ask if they will take our order, mind you my wife was getting pretty upset, i tried to reassure her maybe it is the policy we have to ask for everything. They finally took our order and they brought everything out App, salad, entrees all out together. AND THAT WAS THE LAST E EVER SAW OF THIS WAITER, OR ANYONE ELSE FOR THAT MATTER COMING TO HELP US. I am not Argentinian, I am not a Boca Junior fan, I am a fan of tasty steaks, I guess that puts me in the minority to the people who this restaurant is trying to appeal too. After spending the day in the city, someone in our party had heard this place was good. (without checking out the yelp reviews we decided to listen to this person, one makes irrational decisions when hungry) My Hispanic heritage has told me that the Argentinians are wonderful at cooking steaks. Other countries try to emulate the Argentinian churrasco and its wonderful char flavor. Apparently this restaurant did not get the memo on this. Our churrasco steaks were not that great, and our sides kind of poor. In our party of 8 nobody really enjoyed their meal enough to rave about it. When I feel i can go home and cook a better steak, there is a problem. Mostly because i don' consider myself a wonderful cook. I will say the service was good enough where we didn't have to constantly fetch the waiters. I will leave the guilty feeling of consuming 16 oz of meat while these guys are parading in soccer warm up outfits out of it. Halfway through our meal, the entire wait staff grabbed yellow and blue umbrellas (Boca Junior colors) and marched around the restaurant cheering for the team; that was the highlight of our meal there. I suggested trying this place because I missed Argentina and also wanted to be in a fun cheesy-ish family atmosphere. It was all of that; but the prices were high for the food quality. The meats were the equivalent of the kind of $3 meal you'd get pulled off the street by solicitors for in Buenos Aires. I of course wouldn't expect such prices in the U.S., but we paid a good $20-30 each, which would have gone further elsewhere. We thought there would be more of a soccer crowd here but I guess the Algeria/Slovenia game wasn't enough of a draw. Been coming here for years and have felt the quality gradually decline. My main gripes with Boca Junior's are as follows: -The lack of included side dishes. Presentation is awful because they basically throw your meat on a plate and throw the plate on your table. Is she pretty? No. Is she well-dressed? No. Is still she delicious? Yes. -Staff is overly friendly - with each other. They seem to be so caught up with their own jokes and antics that they come of as unattentive. I'm all for brotherly bonding but don't go carrying on with the guffawing and splitting sides when you have customers who are waiting for water, waiting to order, waiting for food to arrive, waiting for the check... hold on, why are they called "waiters" again? Must tries: entraña, chorizo, grill platter (for 1 or for 2), flan con dulce de leche. Skip the steamed potatoes, they're flavorless and inconsistent. The mixed platter seemed too charred and a bit overcooked. Sausages wasn't that great, intestines were oddly creamy... I ain't about it. A waste of money. Okay, so here's the deal with this place; it does business as by 9:30pm there was a line to get in. I'm not so sure why though. My party got there at 7:30 and we were offered two of the worst tables in the house although at that time there were plenty of tables. One table right at the entrance and the other table next to the bar. After we've been seated, the bread comes and it's the cheapest possible. You know what I'm describing; sad small loaves of over sugared and pillow-y mounds of carb that lack in any texture or flavor aside from corn syrup. Pats of butter in the packages served as well. My salad was fresh but, so over dressed and acidic, not edible. My fillet was fine, prepared rare as requested and the portion was generous. Deserving of the one star rating. I ordered a side of mixed vegetables and what I got was a nearly empty plate of over boiled and unseasoned frozen veggie mix. The other side was a rice dish that was simply over cooked and limp. The food arrived in a snap but, it took 45 minutes to get the bill as our waiter just disappeared. Once he reappeared, he just discarded the table. When we finally got the bill, he had overcharged us for items so, still another wait just to get the check corrected. I lived in this neighborhood for over 10 years now and never got the chance to try Boca Junior. I've heard great things and decided to finally give it a try and took my girlfriend (who may have looked Argentinian but is actually Italian) on a date. It was a disappointment. I learned that if you are not of spanish decent... don't expect the workers to treat you equally. As an asian American, it was an uncomfortable experience. Im always open to trying new things from other countries but my waiter made me feel like I didn't belong there. He made faces when we told him we didn't speak Spanish. He made it unbearably awkward and he shared with all the other workers that we didn't speak Spanish. I was close to walking out if he had made another smart remark. After placing our order his character changed. It felt like he was putting on an act and was judging us from a far. He also asked to tip in cash and with respect I honored his request. Based on my review it may seem likely that I gave a bad tip but i put down a reasonable 18%. It seems like it wasn't enough for him because as we were walking out he was talking to the other workers and we caught the word "chino" come out of his mouth. Till the very end they manage to make me regret every second I spent in there. FOOD: it was good, I wish I was treated better so I could've had the best boca Junior experience. Nominally there's two reasons you come here, one is futbol the other is meat. Argentina is known for its abundance of cattle, which are readily turned into tasty treats and shipped to this flashy spot on Queens Blvd. I passed by here a lot and knew one day I was bound to check it out... So a Sunday rolls by and I call up a fellow carnivore. It was relatively quiet. One man was lunching on a bottle of wine, just watching a match on TV... a few families scattered around toasting each other gratuitously, and then a wonderful couple sitting one table in front of my face locked in a battle of tongues once the wine ran out. The waiter was cool but I probably didn't need instructions on the menu system, because I'm familiar with how they work. Appetizer - Chicken Pie Meal - Entrada (skirt steak) Drink - Quilmes Appetizer was great, but it was really just a glorified empanada, and the price was decent on that but I thought I was getting more than one. The steak I ordered was real good though, a very long strip that was cooked by the hand of a pro. Edges were a bit crispy, inside was juicy. You get some rice and a single hot pepper so you're really just paying for the meat - no potatoes. My friend ordered a steak creation that is a complete sleeper hit. Breaded steak, with cheese and onions on top. Somehow he suffered from a freak nose bleed that threatened to leave his white blood cell count in the single digits and while he was observing the ceiling tiles I snatch a piece of this. Bangin! The breaded steak is very cheap too considering you get a monster portion of it. I'm definitely getting that next time. read more

Came here Friday night with my boyfriend and some friends. My guy, being Argentinian, really likes this place and has always spoken very highly of it. Now I know why. The energy is great, very fun place to eat. There was a boca game playing in the background and all the waiters were going crazy dancing and cheering on the game. VERY fun atmosphere. I ordered the skirt steak with a mixed salad. The steak was beautifully cooked, well seasoned and VERY juicy. One of the best skirt steaks I have ever had. It was delicious plain, with nothing on it. No steak sauce needed here! The salad was also very tasty with a light balsamic dressing. They also put bruschetta down on the table and chimichurri which is delicious. The prices are moderate. Red sangria went perfectly well with our steaks. We usually never venture to Queens for food, but Boca Juniors is our place for steaks. We've eaten at loads of places in the city, i.e. the Palm (I've gone to NY & Chicago locations) and frankly we prefer to get our steak here. Its not a fancy place, but if you want authentic Argentinian steak, great sangria in a homey atmosphere, look no further...You won't be disappointed =) Everyone shouldn't be complaining about the sides, the steak portions are huge that you barely even touch your side. This is an awesome spot to get some real good Argentine food. The skirt steak, blood sausages, grill chicken, pastas, etc are all good (getting hungrier as I right this). Their sangria is top notch and the Quilmes is good too. The staff are all male but friendly and will go out their way to accommodate you and your guest. Although, on Mother's day I went there not thinking it was going to be crowded, man was I wrong. Be sure to call the restaurant and get a reservation but the good thing was I only waited for an half hour and it was worth it :) Also if your a big Boca Juniors fan like my dad then you'll love it here! YUM YUM YUM BOOOOCCAASS! Last august, I threw my bf a big surprise bday party at this place because he had told me it was one of his favorite local spots and he wanted to take me there. I made a reservation for a group of about 18 and they gave us a separate room from the rest of the restaurant. My friends were there on time but my bf and I were late (on purpose) .. they didn't want to order until we got there , our waiter was a bit pushy yet still patient (from what I hear). Once we got there, the service was great. I ordered the skirt steak (entraña) because I heard they have the best in town. Now let me clarify, I am super picky with my skirt steak.. it is the most delicious steak ever when made correctly and only one place that I've been to has gotten it right so I was sure Boca would not make it as good as I expected. BUT when I tried the first piece... WOW WOW WOW!!! IT WAS FLIPPIN DELICIOUS!! I tried to savor every last piece but it went too quickly :( The wait staff sang Happy Birthday to my boyfriend and gave him a piece of flan with a candle in it... it was scrumptious!! Ok- to those that have had any cow meat in Argentina, you know that no where else will ever compare...so there is no point in comparing them to the country. The decor is based off the futbol team Boca Juniors, hence all the blue and yellow- even the waiters wearing the uniforms as if they just came from a game. The owner is definitely a fanatic hehe. I've been here on numerous occasions. Sometimes crowded-so you will get one waiter who is tending to more than his fair share of tables...other nights you will get the perfect service. I love how occasionally the waiters and even chef(s) come out and do La Murga around the restaurant with their, guess what? yellow and blue umbrellas, and sounds of cheers from a Boca game blasting through the speakers. They'll do it for fun, or for someone's birthday. Not necessarily a guarantee but we have asked for them to do it once and our request was granted. I do have to take one star away...because although it has ONLY been on one occasion...it still shouldn't have occurred. One night me and my husband decided to finally go to this place considering we've been living in Queens for years, never gone in and we were curious. Great atmosphere, we loved the whole soccer theme they had going on and I personally loved that they also had banners and posters of other teams, not just Boca Juniors. We would see him go about his other tables and take care of them first (mind you they came in after us) and we would sit there try to stare him down to get his attention. That's one star off. I understand if this is your go to place and you're a regular, but when the staff is trying to sing happy birthday to another patron this doesn't mean for you to raise your voice while you're singing. Boca Junior is perfect for those that are super into Soccer and just want to have a great time! You walk in and you get bombarded with a bunch of soccer memorabilia which is pretty cool. My honey and I got recommended to this place for a long time and decided to just go here! Once you sit down they have soccer playing from five different tv. They serve you bruschetta and bread and butter with some chimichurri sauce. The bruschetta was really good; bunch of garlic and tomatoes. The bread I wish was warmer but can't complain. We decided to order lengua a la vinagreta which is tongue in a vinaigrette sauce, skirt steak with salad , shell steak with a side of salad, and a glass of sangria. I love the tongue in vinaigrette sauce. It was tender and juicy. I added the chimichurri sauce and some salt and I deadass would have eaten more of it. The steak was cooked to our liking which was medium rare but I must say the skirt steak was alittle tough just because of how it was cut. Sangria was alright! But other than that I had a good time and I would just recommend anyone to go here for their tongue and I did notice their grill set for two was popular. Came here with a group of friends for dinner we all left very happy. We started of with some fried calamari which was the only bad part of the evening the calamari tasted chewy and bland like it had been frozen we only order this item because our waiter recommended it would definitely not order that again. That being said this is a steak house and that's why we came here we ordered a couple of parrilladas for two each one came packed with juicy perfectly cooked steaks sausages short ribs just to name a few over some drinks and food the night was great. One thing I thought was different is that this place doesn't server hard alcohol but they do allow you to bring your own for a cork fee which wasn't bad considering we where a large group and drank a lot the for the price of the cork fee they provided us with glasses and ice all night. Loved the decor! Soccer jerseys, photographs of famous players and fans' scarves on the walls, TVs with soccer fifa games. Great especially if you're an Argentinian but cool for any soccer fan. As for the food, though, I wasn't a huge fan. We ordered two huge trays of barbeque to share and it just wasn't for me - I can eat most things, but there are a few things I hate, and tasting fat is one such thing. The platters contained a couple different types of meat, and I feel like I unwittingly grabbed a large piece of the fattiest type. We had it done medium-rare, too, and the combination of fat and wiggly unchewiness just really didn't bode well for me.
